Golden Haven Cebu, one of the most beautiful memorial parks in the country

Truly, no province in the Philippines exudes an image of prestige and progress as Cebu does. Metro Cebu, for one, is now a striking blend of modern industry, urban development, and a deep reverence for its rich traditions and history. It is this balance of culture and commerce that Cebu derives its charm from.

Golden Haven Cebu features manicured gardens and lush landscaping that harmonize with its Italian-inspired amenities.

To date, Cebuanos take pride in the province’s natural attractions that include pristine beaches, island getaways, and vast expanses of greenery, as well as the sight of majestic mountains rising in the horizon. It is not a surprise, then, that Golden Haven, a renowned name in the Philippine deathcare industry, chose Cebu as the site of the country’s most beautiful memorial park.

Golden Haven, a renowned name in the Philippine deathcare industry, chose Cebu as the site of the country’s most beautiful memorial park.

Golden Haven Cebu is a mountaintop-sanctuary-inspired memorial property that sprawls on rolling, grassy terrain amid nature’s bounty. It’s a picturesque haven—all 13 hectares of it!—that inspires nostalgia and the loveliest memories of the dearly departed.

Located on Binaliw Road, Golden Haven Cebu features manicured gardens and lush landscaping that harmonize with its Italian-inspired amenities like the Pope John Paul II Memorial Hill, the Garden Plaza, and the Imperial Gardens. The latter offers zen-like tranquility for visitors who need to destress as they savor its soothing breeze and stoke memories of loved ones who have gone ahead.

Park visitors can linger at Golden Haven Cebu’s enchanting Butterfly Garden, and take a calming break in an open green space abundant with flowers and the butterflies that thrive around them.

Golden Haven offers zen-like tranquility for visitors who need to destress as they savor its soothing breeze.

Meanwhile, the classic design aesthetic of Golden Haven Cebu is reflected in its Italian- and Chinese-inspired amenities. The Moon Gate, for instance, is an East Asian-styled structure that serves as a gateway to the island mausoleums. Three columbaries that house notable religious figures like St. Teresa de Avila, St. Mary of the Child Jesus, and Mother Teresa of Calcutta comprise another major feature of Golden Haven Cebu—the Thereseum.

One popular amenity for guests who want to take a sweeping view of Golden Haven Cebu is the Vatican Deck. From this sky deck’s vantage point, guests can rest their eyes on a panoramic vista of the beautiful park.

All these features ensure that no other memorial property trumps Golden Haven Cebu for long-term reliability and for appreciation value that goes up to an average of 20 percent annually.

And for memorial property investors, Golden Haven Cebu’s close proximity to key landmarks like Gaisano Saversmart Bacayan, Cebu International School, and the soon-to-rise Asian College of Technology further boosts its stock.

As Golden Haven works towards having a memorial park in every Filipino’s hometown, Golden Haven Cebu remains to be one of its most viable investment options—and one of its most serene final resting places, too.

Top Business Leaders in Cebu converge for World Vision’s 2nd virtual CSR Summit

This March 23, 2021, World Vision is doing a follow-up event to the CSR Summit that will focus on Cebu and will highlight partners from different sectors that contribute to the province’s continued fight against COVID-19, and to other programs and projects that help the poor and vulnerable children and families.

Recently, the World Vision Philippines’ CSR Summit Cebu Media Launch was held via zoom webinar conference with Mr. Rommel Fuerte – World Vision National Director, Mr. Walter Cang - Secretary, Rotary Club of Cebu, Ms. Riella Mae Christa Guioguio - COO, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., Felix Taguiam, President, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Faith Sy, World Vision Program Manager in Cebu, Richard Hendin, World Vision Foundation Member, and Jun Godornes, World Vision Resource Development Director.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, various countries have been striving to find ways on how to deal with this global crisis that continues to affect the world today.

One year after the first declaration of a lockdown in the Philippines, Filipinos remain determined and resilient in their fight against this pandemic, including other social and economic issues caused by it.

It’s remarkable how various sectors are coming together in ensuring that Filipinos are healthy, safe, and protected, most especially the marginalized and vulnerable.

Businesses are coming up with ways to extend assistance to those who are in great need. Companies’ CSR programs aim to improve health facilities, support the frontliners, and provide food and financial assistance to affected communities.

As a follow-up to last year’s successful virtual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Summit of World Vision in the Philippines, distinguished business leaders from Cebu are coming together to share their experiences and learnings during the pandemic at World Vision’s virtual CSR Summit in Cebu this March 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm, streamed live on World Vision Philippines’ Facebook page.

It was May of last year when Cebu City was recorded as having the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country. But in only six months, data scientists from the University of the Philippines’ OCTA research group and the Department of Health said Cebu City had flattened its curve. The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) applauded both the public and private sectors for helping Visayas fight the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in Cebu, Negros Occidental, and the rest of Western Visayas.

Through this CSR Summit, World Vision aims to discuss the significant role and relevance of a company’s CSR during critical times, and to inspire businesses and other organizations in the private sector to develop and implement CSR campaigns to be able to reach and improve more lives.

"World Vision is privileged to once again hold the Corporate Social Responsibility Summit in Cebu. God’s work is truly amazing as we witness how our partner organizations implement their CSR initiatives,” shared World Vision National Director Rommel Fuerte. “Let’s continue working together to improve the lives of the most vulnerable children, their families and communities."

Business industry leaders joining World Vision’s virtual CSR Summit in Cebu are Cebu Chamber of Commerce, Inc., Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, Golden Prince Hotel & Suites, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., Rotary Club of Cebu, and the Singapore School Cebu.

World Vision would like to thank the following event partners—Cebu Chamber of Commerce, Inc., JCI Cebu, JCI Plaridel del Pilar, Public Relations Society of the Philippines, and Rotary Club of Cebu.

To know more about World Vision and its other initiatives, you may visit www.worldvision.org.ph or follow World Vision’s official social media pages /worldvisionph on Facebook, @worldvisionphl on Instagram, and @worldvisionph on Twitter.

Lamudi Housing Fair Goes to Cebu

Lamudi is bringing together property seekers and sellers in the Queen City of the South with the launch of the Cebu Housing Fair

Find your dream property at the Lamudi Housing Fair in Cebu

MANILA, 10 August 2018—All roads lead to Cebu as the Lamudi Housing Fair sets up at the Queen City of the South on September 8 and 9, 2018 at Ayala Center in Cebu City. Designed to bring property buyers and sellers together, this open-for-all housing fair will feature some of the biggest property brands of the country.

A first for Lamudi

Cebu’s economy has been displaying massive growth for years, driven mainly by tourism and the information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) industries. According to the Department of Tourism, Central Visayas saw the arrival of over 6.3 million local and foreign tourists in 2017, with Cebu being the top travel hub of the region. Also, the Cebu IT-BPM Organization estimated that Cebu had between 150,000 and 160,000 IT-BPO workers by the end of last year, and that the Cebu City government is targeting the generation of 200,000 jobs in the industry by next year.

The presence of multiple economic zones, where companies enjoy various business incentives, has been attracting major investors, particularly in the IT-BPM sector. Moreover, the recent opening of the new Mactan-Cebu International Airport is projected to increase tourist arrivals and business investments into the province.

Hence, according to Lamudi CEO and Managing Director Bhavna Suresh, the decision to hold the brand’s next housing fair in the province was an easy one to make. With all past housing fairs being hosted in Metro Manila, the Cebu leg of Lamudi’s housing fair series will be the first provincial event for the leading online property portal.

“The massive growth of Cebu City has prompted real estate developers to catch up and supply the much-needed residential, commercial, and retail spaces for home and business relocators. As we have witnessed so far, many of the most prominent names in the property industry have already made a mark in the province through various projects, from condos and subdivisions to townships and business parks,” Suresh explained.

“Lamudi believes that now is the best time to be the stage upon which buyers and sellers can interact and explore the opportunities presented by the flourishing Cebu real estate landscape,” she added.

Home buyers and property seekers at the Lamudi Affordable Housing Fair last June 30-July 1, 2018 at Glorietta.

What to expect

Aspiring new homeowners and real estate investors can look forward to completed and upcoming projects by Primehomes, Ortigas & Company, RFK Holdings, DMCI Homes, Aboitizland Inc., Primary Homes, Softouch Property Development Corp., Avida Land, Contempo Property Holdings, King Properties, and Priland Development Corporation, among others.

UnionBank and RCBC Savings Bank will also be present for buyers in need of home loan assistance to purchase a property.  Plus, the Land Registration Authority will be on hand to give attendees an update on the recent efforts of the agency in terms of protecting land owners.

Aside from being able to inquire directly about the properties on display, buyers can also take advantage of promos and discounts to be offered during the event.

In addition, real estate brokers attending the event will have the opportunity to market their brand and properties through on-the-spot registration to the website, where they can begin uploading their properties to be viewed by Lamudi’s online visitors. Real estate online sales training sessions will also be offered to brokers who are looking to increase lead generation and sales numbers.

“It is indeed an exciting undertaking for Lamudi, and one that we hope to carry out again in the coming years,” Suresh stated.

Join us for two days of property showcases, real estate auctions, and real estate online sales trainings sessions for real estate sales professionals at the Lamudi Housing Fair Cebu happening at the Ayala Center Cebu Exhibit Center on September 8-9, 2018 from 10AM to 10PM. For more information about one of the most exciting housing events of the year, visit the official website.

Trade show giants PHILBEX Cebu and Cebu Auto Show to unlock the future of Cebu

From the recently-inaugurated Mactan-Cebu International Airport, which demonstrated the remarkable genius of Filipino architectural ingenuity, all the way to the pioneering series of construction and transportation projects underway such as the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway and its first-ever LRT subway-elevated system, Cebu is undoubtedly ushering an unprecedented economic mobility in the realm of construction and transportation.

Coinciding perfectly with the heightened spirit of enthusiasm surrounding both trade industries, Worldbex Services International – the country’s leading events and expositions organizer – is proud to present two back-to-back shows that will boost and augment the course of progress being undertaken by the region.

Now on its 16th year, the Philippine Building and Construction Exposition (PHILBEX) Cebu 2018 is set to happen on September 13 to 16, from 10:00am to 8:00pm at the SM City Cebu Trade Hall. Meanwhile, opening only a day apart is the Cebu Auto Show (CAS) 2018. Running on its 11th edition, CAS will open its doors to the public on September 14 to 16, from 10:00am to 8:00pm at the SM Seaside Sky Hall.

Unveiling the future of Cebuano living

PHILBEX Cebu may be the last regional leg of the iconic WORLDBEX but it certainly has no intention of holding back as it envisions to deliver an equally impactful and productive show. Taking after the guiding theme for all WORLDBEX 2018 shows, this year’s PHILBEX Cebu concerns itself with “Shaping Innovations Toward Sustainability”.

Following the success of its 2017 show which housed 105 booths across the wide expanse of the Cebu Trade Hall, this year’s PHILBEX Cebu is set to unveil over 120 booths and close to 80 exhibitors composed of both local exhibitors and foreign participants alike from countries such as China, South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore – all of whom are expected to showcase product and service innovations that are both cutting-edge and efficient.

Aside from presenting an extensive line-up of exhibiting companies, also anticipated to make an impression on this year’s show attendees are PHILBEX Cebu’s event highlights. Among the must-see fixtures include the Architect’s Gallery. A gathering of the region’s top architects and their respective firms, among the participants to present the latest trends and design perspectives from the industry are Abadia Architects and Designers, Archiglobal Inc., Nueast, Arkitecture, Pont Architectural + Design Studio, Philippine Institute of Architects Cebu Chapter, and the United Architects of the Philippines.

Also not to be missed are the Interior Designer’s Gallery which is presented in partnership with the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers – VisMin Chapter, the PHILBEX MiniCons, and the 3rd Projéto Cebu Furniture Design Competition which the entrants for this year will be tasked to create a design for a studio-type condominium unit that will focus on both the wellbeing and learning efficiency of the student-inhabitants.

As WORLDBEX gears up to usher in its Silver Anniversary, its decided move towards increased awareness and proactive perspectives as evidenced by PHILBEX 2018 affirms its dedication to build a brighter future for the entire nation as a whole.

Redefining leisure and productivity

Recognizing the growing demand among automotive consumers for vehicles that live up to their increasingly active lifestyles as well as their entrepreneurial agenda, this year’s Cebu Auto Show, which is also the final regional leg of MIAS 2108, will drive around the theme of “Work and Play”.

From vehicles that are especially designed to cater to businesses as well as the rigorous schedules on-the-go professionals to the latest automotive releases that are meant to cater to the most discerning travelers and adventurers, CAS 2018 is guaranteed to cater to a wide variety of consumers and automotive enthusiasts.

Set to showcase a total of 44 booths, this year’s edition of CAS also boasts of an extensive range of product categories as well as an excitable roster of event highlights which include the much-awaited Custom and Classic Car competition, the Diecast car model swap meet, exhibitions from top car brands, and of course, an impressive motor bike display.

More than just a market place for automotive products, CAS has come to be a pillar of the Cebu automotive industry as it ultimately serves to elevate the means of transportation of the people. In empowering the region’s automotive industry, CAS also contributes significantly in the collective development of the region.

This season, Cebu is expected to witness a dynamic economic convergence that will truly bolster the upward growth of two of its most prominent trade industries. Don’t miss out on the biggest and most anticipated expos of the year – PHILBEX Cebu and CAS 2018!

CEBUCON 2017 features new technology, innovations, other products for construction industry

Construction Show Cebu or CebuCon, a popular industry event of choice to launch products, recently concluded and featured again new technology, innovations and product solutions for the construction and building industry held at the Sky Hall and Mountain Wing Atrium of SM Seaside City Cebu.

Among them was a revolutionary design tool—the latest progeCAD for design professionals and practitioners. This is an affordable CAD software that uses *.DWG file format. It’s easy to learn and use with built-in useful equipment.

“The progeCAD Professional 2018 is our next generation of alternative CAD product in the market set to handle bigger sized files. The best version [eve],” said Ar. Dennis S. Mayo, technical director of Architechnologies, Inc., its sole authorized distributor in the Philippines since 2012.

“With CEBUCON’s 25th year celebration, it is a very good venue to launch the latest offering of progeCAD. It is our belief that there are still a lot of professionals, who need the benefit of an affordable CAD package. We believe that CEBUCON shares with us the commitment of sincerely serving the AEC [Architecture, Engineering, Construction] industry and with this partnership, we believe we can tap more potential customers and expand our business networks,” he added.

While property developers describe their subdivisions and condos as perfect place to live, work, play and even retire, Newluxe International, Inc. has complete packages of outdoor and indoor playground facilities and equipment to offer them. Based in Cebu, the company provides cost-effective play solutions and high-quality fun, stimulating, challenging and yet safe children’s playgrounds that suit the needs of these communities.

Carron Group of Companies, another new exhibitor, is geared on tapping the growing number of property developers who see the great business potential on water parks and entertainment centers. Its expertise covers project design, planning, operations management; as well as manufacturing, supply and installation of facilities and equipment for these tourism establishments. It also offers turn-key projects.

Established in 1996, the company started manufacturing locally built amusement rides using European technology with imported and locally sourced parts and components. Among its clientele are Star City, Sky Ranch Tagaytay, SM Prime Holdings, Inc., Star Mall Group, Sta. Lucia Realty & Dev., Inc., Splash Town Water Park, Robinsons Land Corp., Filinvest Alabang, Inc., Jed’s Island Resort, Miriam College. It has also supplied amusement rides abroad to countries like Italy, Saudi, Qatar, Dubai, New Zealand, Nigeria, Australia and China.

Other new products launched, included MAS Paints eco-friendly coatings for interiors and exteriors decorative textured paints and wood paints ideal for furniture, cabinets, counter tops and other indoor surfaces with its special effects paints for wood to mimic different surfaces like leather, metal, marble and others. MAS Paints’ solvent and water-based dyes stain varnish wood transparently bring out the natural characteristics of wood grains.

With the shift in environmental friendly activities, Vertical Difficult Access Solutions, a young Cebu-based firm founded in 2016, promoted rope access services for industries requiring inspection, maintenance or repair and accessibility in hard to reach points.

These were just few of the featured products witnessed by the trade professionals, property developers, owners and consultants during the four-day event that took place from June 2 to 5.

At 25, CEBUCON remains relevant by showcasing a comprehensive range of product solutions, innovations and expertise for the built environment. “From the first nail to the last nail,” as they say, this is what CEBUCON is all about.

Themed “25 Years of Building Business Networks in the Construction Industry in the Southern Philippines,” CEBUCON welcomed, among its trade visitors, representatives of various hardware associations in the country from the Philippine Hardware Foundation, Inc. in Manila to its counterparts from Davao Hardware Association, Bacolod Hardware Merchants and those from other provinces in Visayas and Mindanao like Iloilo, Bohol, Dumaguete, and General Santos City. This was made possible through CEBUCON’s long time partnership with Cebu’s Hardware Consolidated, Inc. (HCI).

The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) District C-1 had its special participation by presenting design concepts on Maritima building via its local chapters. Built in 1910, the Compania Maritima was once known as the Fernandez Building.

It was occupied by the Shamrock Hotel during the pre-war years, but the building’s internal structure and roof were destroyed during the liberation of Cebu City in 1945. After the liberation, the crumbling building was repaired and became the main office of Compania Maritima, one of the biggest shipping lines in Cebu City serving many key cities in the Philippines. It also occupied the first international port in Cebu. But the company filed for bankruptcy in the late 1980’s and the building has been abandoned ever since.

CEBUCON was organized and managed by L.A. Ducut & Company, Inc., in tie up with the HCI.

Construction Show Cebu remains relevant at 25

Marking its milestone at 25, Construction Show Cebu (CEBUCON) is set to take the center stage at the Sky Hall and Mountain Wing Atrium in SM Seaside City Cebu, from June 2 to 5, 2017.

With the theme “25 Years of Building Business Networks in the Construction Industry in the Southern Philippines,” CEBUCON remains relevant by showcasing product solutions, innovations and expertise that meet the current and future demands of the industry in the region.

It was first conceived and organized in 1993 to be aligned with the vision that Cebu will become a major gateway of trade and tourism in the region.

CEBUCON Organizer L.A. Ducut & Company, Inc.’s managing director, Lilibeth D. Abais, said that this milestone event is evident that CEBUCON delivers its commitment to be a vital trade link between suppliers and their market in the region’s construction industry as the popular venue for product displays, launchings, market tests and networking event among industry trade professionals, suppliers and stakeholders.

One of CEBUCON’s pioneer and regular exhibitors, Manila-based industrial and power tools distributor Elektro Werk, Inc. (EWI) President James N. Tan stated that “with the exposures we have at CEBUCON it had contributed to our business growth. CEBUCON, as always, is beyond showcasing. Its organizer, L.A. Ducut & Company, Inc. extends value-added services to both its exhibitor and visitor markets even beyond the event.”

Cebu Belmont, Inc.’s vice president for operations Engr. Felomino D. Ang, shared the same opinion: “[It] truly understands the local market, especially Cebu and Visayas.” This is one of the reasons why their company have been consistently collaborating their exhibit participation at the CEBUCON with their principals and suppliers.
One of its consistent trade visitor, United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) National Auditor Architect Eldred Caesar I. Tan, commented that “the Construction Show Cebu is an innovator and in the forefront of this kind of exhibition in the part of the country. It has showcased materials, tools and equipment and have provided for intellectual stimulation by holding seminars attended by architects, engineers and allied professionals. CEBUCON has benefited not only those directly involved in the construction industry but also the home and building owners in particular and the general public.”
A first timer to CEBUCON is Architechnologies, Inc. to introduce its new software to the local market. “The ProgeCAD Professional 2018 is our next generation of alternative CAD product in the market, set to handle bigger sized files, this is the best version yet. We believe the event is an excellent venue to launch the latest offering of ProgeCAD,” stated technical director Ar. Dennis S. Mayo. “It is our belief that there are still a lot of professional who need the benefit of an affordable CAD package. We believe that CEBUCON also carries that belief of sincerely serving the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry and with this partnership, we are tapping the potentials and networks unreachable to us (at the Architechnologies),” he added. As Construction is a booming industry across the country.

The robust building activities spread out in other parts of the nation given the massive national infrastructure spending by the government. For instance, in Central Visayas, majority of construction activities in the region are located in Cebu, including the P27.9 billion Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), which had its groundbreaking last March; the P50-billion Metro Cebu Expressway that is set to start next year; the P9.2B New Cebu International Container Port; the P98 billion 25-kilometer Cebu rail project; and the P420 million worth Metro Cebu flood control projects, among others.

Bohol and Siquijor also saw rapid infrastructure developments since the first semester of last year. Such strong growth of the construction industry here and elsewhere nationwide is seen to keep its momentum on the back of sustained economic fundamentals. The Philippine construction industry is expected to continuously grow in the next three years, bolstered by the residential and infrastructure markets.

From $30.2 billion in 2015, Timetric’s Construction Intelligence Center (CIC) projects the sector to reach $47 billion in 2020 at a compound annual growth rate of 9.22 percent. As reported by BMI Research’s Philippine Infrastructure Report last January, construction industry is predicted to grow from P1.09 trillion this year to P1.73 trillion in 2021. The sector’s contribution to the country’s gross domestic product is, likewise, projected to expand from 6.8 percent in 2017 to 7.3 percent in four years.

These prospects open new opportunities for L.A. Ducut & Company, Inc. to make CEBUCON more responsive to the needs of the local construction industry. The exhibit’s major cooperating agency is the Hardwares Consolidated, Inc.
