Alden Richards, GMA young leading man, admits that his debut album under Universal Records speaks a lot about him.
The album, which includes his cover of memorable hits – Shamrock’sHaplos, Rey Valera’sNaaalala Ka, Itwchyworm’sAkin Ka Na Lang, among others, is a testament to Alden’s young romantic side.
During the album was launched at the Trinoma Activity Center, his fans tropped and proved that indeed Alden is one of the most bankable stars of the Kapuso Network.
“I really am very thankful that people went out to support me,” says the Kapuso star.
“I have given everything I have for this project.”
Thankfully, Alden’s album zoomed to the top of the Astrovision/Astroplus music charts after only a week after its release.
Alden expressed gratitude towards Universal Records bosses for the opportunity – General Manager Kathleen Dy-Go, Operations Director Peter Chan, and producer Ito Rapadas, who made sure that Alden’s voice in tip-top shape for the recording.
The album’s debut single Haplos instantly rose to the top of the MyMusicStore charts and is now a part of the series Mundo Mo’y Akin as its love theme.
Alden also has an original song in the album – the romantic Sa Aking Tabi by Vince Katindoy, composer of Ngiti.

As what used to be tween queen, now turned teen queen Barbie adds another facet to her young entertainment career—singing. For the Philippine elections 2013, the Google’s resource page gets hits from over 50 countries around the world. Since its launch on the first week of May, Google’s Philippine elections resource page (Google.com.ph/elections) has been getting hits from over 50 countries around over the world. As of this writing, the resource page has been visited by Internet users from as far as Uzbekistan, Rwanda, Finland, and the Netherlands.
The resource page is a collaboration between Google Philippines and broadcast networks ABS-CBN, GMA, PTV, and SOLARtv, and online news portals Rappler.com, PhilStar.com, Inquirer.net and Interaksyon.com. The site brings together election-related updates from Google Philippines’ partner media establishments in one platform.
The content-rich Elections Page contains stories culled from various local news sites. Users can search for election-related news information by political party or national issue. Broadcast coverage are also aggregated from participating networks’ YouTube channels into one tab. Election-related incidents are also plotted on a Google Maps map tile of the Philippines embedded in the site. This provides Internet users a visual idea of crisis and violence levels in areas of interest.
“We are proud to see that many Filipinos outside the Philippines are finding the site helpful. The millions of overseas Filipinos, including the 700,000 registered absentee voters abroad, are out of reach of the candidates’ traditional campaign propaganda. Through the site, we are able to make election-related information accessible to them, helping them make their decision come election day,” said Narciso Reyes, Google Philippines Country Manager.
Former Rivermaya frontman Jason Fernandez makes TV acting debut.
In previous interviews, former Rivermaya frontman Jason Fernandez admitted being abandoned by his Cypriot father at a young age. In fact, after his stint in the band, he flew to Cyprus to meet his father.
This Holy Week, Jason was tapped by CBN Asia to be one of the lead stars of their Good Friday presentation – Tanikala presents Ama Namin, which also stars Mike Tan, Diva Montalba, and Tricia Amper. It will air this March 29, 5 p.m., on GMA 7.
Jason can very well relate to his role Arthur, an artist whose father had to leave him to work abroad when he was very young.
“The role is something very close to home,” adds Jason. “I hope people will be blessed, and inspired with this special Lenten Presentation.”
The episode talks about the lives of three friends whose lives were greatly affected by their respective relationships with their fathers.

Bringing Financial Literacy to the Filipino People
PESOS AND SENSE is a financial literacy program that covers a wide
range of personal finance and investment topics that typically intimidates the
average Filipino: the stock market, mutual funds, insurance, budgeting and debt
management etc.Its goal is to
empower Filipinos by teaching simple and practical knowledge in making
independent and wise choices in handling their money.
PESOS AND SENSE started as a TV show in September 2011 on GMA News
TV which ran for 13 episodes. It was
a weekly Sunday morning show that tackled personal finance and investments,
simplifying it to a more approachable and doable sense. The show was hosted by Investment
Advocate Mr. Aya Laraya, who is
also a Certified Securities representative, a Certified Investment Company
representative, a realtor and a writer with an MBA from University of Western
Australia. He started his stint in the stock market as a simple runner for the
old Philippine Stock Exchange. On top of being a licensed stockbroker, he
gained relevant experience from other industries such as mutual funds, real
estate and banking. He also shared his financial wisdom with the youth as a
professor at the Ateneo de Manila University.
After
its first season as a TV show, PESOS AND SENSE launched a seminar series which started April this
year. The schedule of the seminars
