Teleperformance joins the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment

Teleperformance (TP), a leading global group in digitally integrated business services, strengthens its advocacy of advancing gender equality in the workplace by joining the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE).

This partnership was formalized through the recent virtual signing ceremony attended by Jeffrey Johnson, Senior Vice President for Human Capital Resource Management of TP Philippines, Tanya Famador-Japitana, Executive Vice President for Operations of TP Philippines and Chairperson for TP Women Philippines, and Maria Aurora Boots Geotina-Garcia, Chairperson of Philippine Women’s Economic Network and Co-Chair of PBCWE.

PBCWE was established in 2017 as an inaugural project of the Philippine Women’s Economic Network (PhilWEN) in partnership with Investing in Women, an initiative of the Australian Government. As the newest member of PBCWE, Teleperformance joins other 18 member companies in leading efforts towards building a business case for gender equality, creating knowledge on best practices in the workplace, communicating the benefits of empowering women in the workforce, and institutionalizing policies based on best practices.

“I thank PBCWE for the opportunity to be part of this partnership. There is so much that the society can contribute when we are all welcome and empowered. I am personally committed to seeing all levels being represented in the organization – not just women – but other areas that may be underrepresented. I am proud to be working side by side with PBCWE and I look forward to the success that we’ll see in the coming months as we take this partnership to the next level,” shared Jeffrey Johnson.

“It’s truly an honor to be part of PBCWE. We believe that it’s high time that we tie up with organizations like PBCWE to help provide the structure in our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts so that we can measure how far we’ve gone since we’ve launched TP Women and truly pave the trail for the next phase of our cause. I look forward to and fully support the plans of PBCWE and TP Women together,” Tanya Famador-Japitana added.

TP’s global commitment to the principles of diversity, respect, fairness, empowerment, and equality are reflected through its TP Women initiative which seeks to maintain an overall equal gender distribution in the TP Group’s workforce and in management positions, and to increase the proportion of women in governing bodies. Currently, TP’s global employee base is comprised of 52% women. By 2023, TP committed to its global target of 30% women in the senior leadership roles.

As part of its membership package, TP will undergo the Gender Equality Assessment, Results and Strategies (GEARS), a tool developed in partnership with Investing in Women. GEARS provides companies with the information and resources necessary to start the change process towards gender equality. It evaluates the company’s current gender equality strategies, plan future gender equality objectives, and track their progress over time.

“Gender equality in the workplace plays an important framework in facilitating business productivity, operational efficiency, and financial resiliency. Today, many companies are eager to set clear targets and metrics to create sound policies and programs. In PBCWE, we offer a unique and one-of-a-kind opportunity for companies to undergo a simple and streamlined workplace gender equality assessment tool that can help them take concrete steps in their current practices on talent recruitment, succession planning, and employee retention. We are happy to know that Teleperformance is committed to pursue this as a core business strategy,” said Aurora “Boots” Geotina-Garcia.

TP stands firm with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. In June 2020, TP Philippines celebrated diversity and inclusion through its TP Pride initiative which sought to strengthen employee engagement, promote a diverse and inclusive culture in the workplace, and recognize the contribution and influence of each and every individual.

In 2021, TP Philippines was re-certified as a Great Place to Work® and is the only organization in the country to receive this certification from the Great Place to Work® Institute for four years in a row. This 2022, TP will be celebrating its 26th year of continued excellence and leadership in the country. This milestone highlights the company’s commitment to steadily provide the best employment experience for Filipinos, proactively support the nation’s IT-BPM sector, and uphold its socio-civic engagements to create a difference in the lives of the Philippine community.

Teleperformance collaborates with Project Inclusion Network to empower people with disabilities

Teleperformance Philippines recently announced its partnership with Project Inclusion Network (PIN), a non-profit organization that works towards realizing the potential of Persons with Disability to actively participate in, and productively contribute to society.
In a recent virtual event with its employees in honor of International Day of Sign Languages, Teleperformance Philippines highlighted its commitment to providing assistance and opportunities for people with disabilities through this new initiative with PIN.

As part of the partnership, Teleperformance will assist PIN in identifying employable people with disabilities from their network of partner institutions, communities, and organizations that teach and train people with impairments. Moving forward, Teleperformance Philippines and PIN will be collaborating towards improving knowledge and comprehension of behavioral concepts and processes in the workplace, through increased productivity and integration.

Teleperformance Philippines has been employing persons with disabilities across their sites. Senior Vice President for Human Capital Resource Management Jeffrey Johnson shared, “We put strong focus on our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. We want to make a concerted effort to provide employment to people who may otherwise have had a hard time finding employment. I am proud of the work that the team has done to truly move things forward.”

Teleperformance Philippines has been certified Great Place to Work® for four consecutive years, just in time for their 25th year anniversary in the country. The certification is awarded by the prestigious institute to companies who have passed the Trust Index® Survey, which is anonymously taken by employees. This year had the highest participation rate among Teleperformance Philippines’ 52,000 workforce across 22 business sites in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Teleperformance Philippines is a champion of diversity and inclusion. They recently held the Disability Visibility Matters initiative, whose goal is to collect critical baseline data that may be used in building relevant and beneficial programs for these people. They also held a Sensitivity Training webinar, which trained their leaders and equipped them with skills to build a more inclusive workplace. TP also participated in a career fair for PWDs, as well as a parade to advocate for autism programs in early 2020.

Leaders in the Workplace and in the Home: Teleperformance Philippines shares tips for women leaders in International Women’s Day event

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Teleperformance hosted a virtual event that highlighted the struggles and triumphs that women leaders face given their unique roles of being both leaders at home and at work.

Shared in a livestream on the Teleperformance Philippines Facebook page, the event aimed to engage participants in a discourse on problems and possible solutions to the glass walls women face in their careers on a daily basis, along with how to juggle their dual leadership roles. Organized by TP Women, topics such as work-life balance, the importance of having men as allies and creating a gender inclusive corporate culture were discussed through panel discussions and a pledge for gender equality.

Leadership in two arenas

Women continue to face many cultural and social barriers that can prevent them from pursuing leadership roles. According to a report by LinkedIn Opportunity Index 2021, almost half of Filipino women (46%) working from home have struggled to juggle work and family life during the pandemic, especially working mothers. Similarly, 42% said their duties at home are a barrier to their career development.

Meanwhile, a 2020 study conducted by ILO with Philippine companies on human resource challenges on attracting and retaining high performing talents, work and family flexibility is important to a Filipino career woman, more so, a determining factor if she will accept or be prompted to leave a job.

To help women be more effective leaders both in the home and workplace, representatives of TP Women offered these five tips:

Equip yourself with the right tools & ask questions

To encourage other women to be their authentic selves, leaders themselves need to be equipped. “Try and study what you don’t know,” advised Michelle Carbonel, Senior Director of Recruitment Sourcing Department. “Self-knowledge is very important. Don’t be afraid to ask your team questions on how you can help them and what goals they would like to achieve to create that safe space for them.”

Never be afraid to acknowledge your accomplishments

“As women, sometimes, we could be a bit meek, and we want to be a 150% confident before we step it up or before we lay down our cards in any setting. So I dare everyone to really think about their accomplishments and don’t be afraid to let the world know about it,” said Ellora Du, Contract Center Manager. “No one else can celebrate your success except you, so grab every opportunity that presents itself. Boost your confidence and make known to the world what women are capable of.”

Know your Strength

“Always remember you have a voice,” said May Cordeta, Director of Training. She reminded women not to be shy to bring their ideas to the table and to create that conversation with themselves that they are good enough. “Nothing is too big or too small and the only one limiting you is yourself. Make sure you are heard and empower yourself to make your presence known,” shared Cordeta.

Create clear boundaries

When it comes to work-life balance, Tanya Famador-Japitana, Executive Vice President of Client Operations believes there should still be a certain time spent for work, for family, and for oneself. “Set clear boundaries and be intentional with your time – this would help improve your mood when you are with your family, leading to a better you at work as well.”

Decide what you want to do for yourself and know that it’s okay

Above all, TP Women leaders agreed that women empowerment is all about being able to choose. Affirm yourself that whatever or whoever you want to be, whether that is being a housewife or an astronaut or both, that it’s okay. “Women have the ability to decide what to do for themselves—deafen your ears on how society continues to dictate how women should act and what women should be,” Famador-Japitana said.

Also present at the event was Teleperformance Philippines’ Senior Vice President for Human Capital Resource Management Jeffrey Johnson, who shared how his mother and grandmother, who were both strong women, showed him how capable women could be.

Launched in 2019, TP Women is an initiative that is dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women in Teleperformance, while also serving as a community and support system for women within the organization.

Spearheaded by Tanya Famador-Japitana, TP Women seeks to address women’s issues in the workplace and help drive positive change, standing behind diversity, inclusion, and gender balance and supporting equal opportunity and participation at all levels and in all aspects. TP Women is part of the company’s Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) program, which highlights its commitment to its people, supporting initiatives that promote women empowerment, inclusion of professionals with disabilities, and supporting LGBTQIA+ communities.

“TP Women isn’t just about women in leadership. It’s about women supporting each other and equally, about men in our organization doing their part to support individuals to maximize their potential. That’s why at TP, I’m committed to supporting all of the women in the organization and being a reliable ally to ensure that we provide equal opportunities in work, in leadership and across the organization,” said Mike Lytle, Chief Executive Officer of Teleperformance US, Canada and Philippines.

Teleperformance Philippines is the first company in the country to receive three consecutive certifications from the Great Place to Work® Institute through a comprehensive evaluation process that involved an anonymous survey of over 34,000 of their employees.

Teleperformance Philippines’ leadership and safety programs win in 18th Quill awards

Teleperformance Philippines was once again recognized for its leadership and employee programs at the recently held 18th Philippine Quill Awards by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines.

The company received an Award of Excellence in Leadership Communication for its “A Message from Mike” video series, and an Award of Merit in Safety Communication for its “TP is a Safe Place to Work for all” campaign.

When Covid-19 first reached the Philippines, the government implemented a strict lockdown to help prevent the spread of the virus. Recognized as an essential service provider, Teleperformance Philippines was tasked to remain operational as the company provided essential support to government services, and industries such as healthcare, telecommunications, banking and finance, logistics, travel and hospitality.

Within the first year of his tour of duty, Mike Lytle, CEO of Teleperformance USA, Canada, and Philippines led the organization of 47,000 people through the COVID-19 crisis. Using his personal leadership approach of empathy and mindfulness, the “Message from Mike” video series was an effective tool that offered an accessible and transparent channel of communication to reach TP employees.

Published in the company’s official Facebook page, the videos featured Lytle giving his personal messages to employees, providing updates, responding to their questions, and reminding them of essential health and safety protocols.

The video series was also part of a larger communication campaign that empowered Teleperformance employees to be well-informed advocates of responsible behaviors and decisions. At the core of the “TP is a Safe Place to Work for All” campaign was keeping every employee alert and equipped with useful information to help them navigate through a life-changing time.

A variety of communication materials were produced and disseminated and batches of signage were placed in all Teleperformance sites and facilities, including physical distancing markers, indoor traffic directional signage, elevator reminders, shuttle reminders and markers. Health and Wellness engagement activities such as yoga and mindfulness sessions were promoted through both internal and external channels. There were also forums and talks conducted by experts and professionals to help employees understand the virus and how to protect themselves.

“Through this continuing crisis, our commitment was to create a safe place to work for all, not only through strict compliance with our government’s health and safety protocols, but by empowering and enabling our people with essential knowledge and skills so that they can effectively protect themselves and their loved ones from the pandemic,” shared Lytle.

These wins are a testament to Teleperformance Philippines’ commitment to their employees’ health and safety, which was also reflected by the recently awarded extension of their certification as a Great Place to Work®.

Leading up to the certification, over 34,000 employees of Teleperformance Philippines were asked to anonymously rate the company in several areas and measured how employees perceive the organization based on the quality of workplace experience. Teleperformance Philippines became the first company in any industry in the country to win Great Place to Work® certification in 2018 and the only company in the country that has won for three years straight.

Teleperformance to offer free Covid-19 vaccinations for all employees

Highlighting its commitment to promote the safety and welfare of its employees, Teleperformance Philippines will be offering free Covid-19 vaccinations for their more than 47,000 employees in the country nationwide.

This is in line with the global initiative of Teleperformance to provide free access to vaccines for all its employees worldwide. As the nation awaits the ongoing government reviews to allow distribution of the vaccine, Teleperformance Philippines is currently collaborating with government agencies and employers in the country to quickly secure the supply of safe and effective FDA-approved vaccines for 100% of their employees.

Teleperformance, a leading global group in digitally integrated business services recently announced its plans to reimburse the cost of Covid-19 vaccinations for its more than 330,000 employees worldwide, wherever the vaccine is not being provided free of charge by the country’s healthcare system. The plan will be deployed in accordance with the decisions of the local authorities concerned and in partnership with key private healthcare partners across Teleperformance’s footprint, which spans 80 countries.

Since the start of the Covid-19 crisis, Teleperformance has paid careful attention to protecting its employees, notably with a strong focus on health and hygiene standards in all its locations, millions of masks proactively secured and distributed to its staff, the assertive move to a Work-at-Home delivery model in conjunction with its clients, and enforcement of extra physical distance at its operational sites, over and above local country guidelines.

A Great Place to Work® certified company, Teleperformance Philippines likewise initiated efforts throughout the pandemic to promote the safety and well-being of their employees while helping businesses adjust to the new environment. Aside from stringent health and safety protocols on-site, they also implemented the work-at-home (WAH) model for thousands of employees and  launched Teleperformance Cloud Campus, a model that allows home-based interaction experts to work from anywhere in the world while remaining connected virtually to their Teleperformance team through one of the Cloud Campus hubs.

Today, by offering the vaccine as a free, optional staff benefit, Teleperformance aims not only to honor its commitment to protecting the health of its people, but also to help governments address the pandemic with agile, large-scope support of vaccination programs deployed at the corporate level.

Teleperformance Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Julien remarked, “Nothing is more important in fulfilling our mission than the safety and health of all our employees. Since the beginning of this grave crisis, we have done everything in our power to ensure business continuity for our clients and protect the health and safety of our employees, our partners, and jobs in the communities where the Group is present. Now, more than ever, we are focused on the same priorities. Based on strong relationships with healthcare partners and in compliance with government decisions and procurement agendas, we are well prepared across the world to assist in securing critical Covid-19 vaccinations for our employees. The reimbursement of vaccination costs for our staff is another critical step in this commitment to our employees. We will support every employee in the Group who wants the vaccine, especially in countries where the public or private insurance system doesn’t cover the cost. We are also proud to be actively contributing to the ongoing fight against the virus by boosting vaccinations worldwide.”

Teleperformance Chief Executive Officer for US, Canada, and Philippines Mike Lytle added, “From the beginning, the safety and well-being of our employees has been our priority. While the past year has definitely been a challenging one for the company and its many employees and partners, the announcement of the vaccine brings hope for everyone across the globe and we are committed to giving free access to this for all our employees. As we wait for the distribution of the vaccine, we continue to maintain a positive outlook for the industry and the country. We enjoin everyone in the ongoing fight against Covid-19 by continuing to follow the government’s lead and practice safety measures and protocols wherever they are.”

Teleperformance launches Cloud Campus hubs at Fairview and Aura sites, revolutionizes work-at-home environment

Manila, Philippines - Teleperformance, a global leader in digitally integrated business services, recently launched its newest Teleperformance Cloud Campus hubs through a global virtual event. Teleperformance Founder and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Julien led the activity and introduced to the audience the Cloud Campus facilities now operating at TP Aura and TP Fairview.

The Cloud Campus solution is a revolutionary and innovative new global operating model of Teleperformance. It is specifically designed to enable a socially enriched work-at-home environment, allowing companies to easily expand their business and deliver superior customer experiences through Teleperformance’s unique, cloud-centric solution.

The Cloud Campus hubs at Teleperformance Aura and Fairview sites serve as the operational command center of virtual teams. Home-based interaction experts can now work from anywhere while remaining connected to their Teleperformance team through the Cloud Campus hubs, which come with innovative features to help employees stay engaged and connected while maintaining operational efficiency. The highly functional design blends proprietary Teleperformance technology, analytics, and process excellence (T.A.P.) with best-of-breed technologies to form a uniquely efficient global solution.

The operating capabilities of Teleperformance Cloud Campus include virtual talent acquisition, training, development, coaching, team building, learning, client interaction, quality control, and data security management, as well as emotional well-being and rich social interaction for employees. Gamification is utilized for employee fun, socialization, and education as part of the new Teleperformance ‘campus life’.

The Cloud Campus hubs include Training Rooms that are technology optimized to recreate the experience of onsite training like video conference systems, digital whiteboards, and wallboards with performance dashboards. Virtual technology allows managers to see their team’s schedule and connect with them for huddles or one on one sessions, and space for support teams – such as Training, Supervisors and other Managers, IT Helpdesk Support, Quality, and Workforce Management – that will allow more efficient knowledge transfer and increased focus on the special needs of the remote employees.

To further support work-at-home employees, Teleperformance also employs the TP Digital Floorwalker, a digital assistant that uses machine learning to handle questions from agents that can result in improved first call resolutions and reduced average handle times for calls. The Cloud Campus hubs also utilize dashboards to monitor the internet speed of employees, allowing for the faster intervention of connectivity issues.

For Teleperformance, protecting sensitive information is key, which is why their Cloud Campus solution ensures that data remains secure within remote environments. Their Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) Architecture is PCI-certified, and other security measures include multi-factor authentication, device lockdown, and the usage of virtual sessions to ensure that no data is stored locally. The Teleperformance Cloud Campus hubs also employ TP Observer, a consolidated solution that provides real-time monitoring and system alerts for risk elements and suspicious patterns to detect a data breach and fraud attempts.

“In 2020 our R&D teams, helped by our Operations, had built an end-to-end digital platform to manage efficiently and safely work from remote all over the world. Today, thanks to Teleperformance Cloud Campus, we serve our clients from any place in the world with a remote workforce – whatever can be the external or internal constraints – through this wonderful, bulletproof digital platform. This platform is going to help you better manage your customer interaction and your customer experience,” said Daniel Julien.

“The Teleperformance Cloud Campus model was designed to help businesses who are looking at remote work as part of their growth plans in the new digital economy. It thoughtfully addresses the main concerns of companies for processes that are to be handled from a home environment, such as security, performance and control, and engagement of remote teams. Teleperformance Cloud Campus also allows companies to ensure the health and safety of their employees, which remains a priority now and most certainly in the future, without compromising business continuity,” noted Mike Lytle, Chief Executive Officer of Teleperformance USA, Canada, and the Philippines.

Teleperformance Cloud Campus is available to support all industries, geographies, and applications. This delivery model is currently deployed globally in a diverse set of industry sectors including e-commerce, utilities, telecom, and healthcare – several of which were implemented before the COVID-19 outbreak. Teleperformance now has more than 200,000 employees, or 80% of its active employees, working from home worldwide. An increasing number of clients and Teleperformance work-at-home employees will continue transitioning to the Cloud Campus delivery model this year.

Combining these solutions with the right human resources and safety measures, Teleperformance implements a high-tech and high-touch transformation strategy that delivers a differentiated customer experience.

One of its solutions, the Teleperformance Cloud Campus, allows agents to remain connected and collaborative, while telecommuting through a centralized command center that can even allow clients to interact with their workforce. This was instrumental in helping the company quickly adjust to the lockdown earlier this year and transfer over 50 percent of its workforce to a work-at-home arrangement within a few weeks.

Interview rooms in the Teleperformance Molino recruitment center are decorated with fun and vibrant colors.

Teleperformance is the leading global group in digitally integrated business services, recently winning the Frost & Sullivan 2020 Asia Pacific Services Provider of the Year Award and, earlier this year, its third consecutive Great Place to Work® certification. Currently, the organization has around 47,000 employees from business sites located in Metro Manila, Antipolo, Baguio, Cebu, Bacoor, Bacolod, Davao, and Cagayan De Oro.

Teleperformance fosters vibrant people culture through global talent competition

Manila, Philippines – Even during the pandemic, the passion and creativity of Filipinos shone through as Teleperformance Philippines, the leading global group in digitally integrated business services, gave their employees a chance to display their talents in a competition.

To showcase its diverse employees and to spread positivity during the crisis, Teleperformance organized the COVID-19 Fight Challenge, a global talent competition held virtually for its employees.

In the local competition, the more than 47,500 employees of Teleperformance Philippines were encouraged to use their talents to express their feelings about their COVID-19 experiences and about what the future holds for all. Employees were able to submit in any of the four categories, namely, Music, Writing, Art, and Dance. Based on their originality, talent, and presentation, the judges shortlisted three finalists per category and announced the local champions via a Facebook Watch Party hosted by TV and radio personality Gino Quillamor.

The winner for the music category was James San Juan from TP Ayala, who wrote an original song called “Rise”, which is about mental health and is dedicated to those feeling alone during the pandemic. For the writing category, Santos Baudin III from TP Ayala won for his original poem entitled “Agwat (Gap)” which is all about finding love and hope amid the social distancing and reminds everyone to stay connected even apart.

Meanwhile, Carlos Ramiro from TP Fairview came out on top for the art category for his piece called “Invisibilia Inimicus (Invisible Enemy)” which portrays the heroism, sacrifice, and hope of the front liners. Lastly, Jobert Cabag from TP Davao won for his inspirational dance accompanied by a scenic music video that he says is a reminder for everyone to always observe social distancing.

James San Juan from TP Ayala, the champion in the music category, shared his experience during the watch party. “Given our situation, in our 24 hours at home, having engagements like this lifts you up somehow and inspires you to inspire others,” shared James.

The local champions received Php 15,000 in cash and had the opportunity to represent Teleperformance Philippines in the global finals, which showcased the talents of Teleperformance employees from over 80 countries.

About 17,000 TP employees tuned in to the live streamed announcement on the Teleperformance Philippines Facebook page to support their friends and colleagues, while five lucky viewers of the watch party were also treated to their own a pizza party via an electronic raffle during the program.

Mike Lytle, Teleperformance Philippines Chief Operations Officer, shared a heartfelt message to all TP employees during the announcement. “At TP, we’ve always made a special effort to provide our people with a platform for their creative self-expression. Even with COVID-19, our ability to reflect on the times connects all of us even more. I applaud everyone for believing in themselves and supporting their colleagues. You are all heroes in my book.”

The culmination of the COVID-19 Fight Challenge was celebrated with the rest of the global Teleperformance community last July 30, 2020, at the virtual TP Quarantine Awards with around 10,000 registered viewers from across the globe. TP Philippines’ Baudin bagged third place for the writing category and won a pair of Beats Headphones.

The TP Quarantine Awards show was streamed live in Telepeformance’s 21 business sites for those employees who were onsite at the time of airing. The Watch Parties, coordinated by the HR team and the Site Fun Committees, followed physical distancing rules while allowing employees to cheer for their colleagues.

Earlier in 2020, Teleperformance Philippines received its third Great Place to Work® certification for the third year in a row, which was based on an anonymous survey of over 34,000 Teleperformance Philippines employees nationwide. The survey assessed employee trust based on employee ratings of the company’s credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.
