Jolina Magdangal shares how she takes care of her family in the new normal
Juggling many things at once is normal for Jolina Magdangal. Apart from being one of the momshies of the morning talk show Magandang Buhay, she runs the vlog #JolinaNetwork and takes care of her two kids, Pele and Vika, with her husband Mark Escueta. Magdangal also makes time to pursue hobbies like diamond painting, working out, and being a #HalamaNanay. But with the pandemic, she was forced to adjust her priorities and make changes to her family.
“May times na busy sa Magandang Buhay pero pag walang taping, usually dito lang ako sa bahay with my family. May mga nagbago samin, tulad ng anak ko na nag-homeschool. We decided to do homeschooling kasi mas naging priority namin ang safety niya, and we want to experience yung pagiging hands-on din sa school niya,” the mom reveals.
Even if Magdangal is used to doing so many things at once, she admits that homeschooling can be a struggle. It’s also a new experience for her and her husband since they are not teachers. Still, she takes on the challenge because “masarap ang pakiramdam dahil anak namin yung tinuturuan namin at rewarding ang feeling pag natututo at malaki ang development.”
Another change in the Magdangal-Escueta household is their attitude towards going out. If in the past, they can just get up and go, they now take extra precautions. Magdangal says, “I must admit, may pagkapraning ako na baka yung makasalubong ko or yung kausap ko ay positive sa COVID-19. Dumami ang dala-dala kong gamit kasi ang dami kong disinfectant.”
She also taught her kids hygiene habits to protect themselves and stay clean at all times. They learned to wash their hands and to carry alcohol and wet wipes. When going out, they wear their face masks even in the car, and they take showers as soon as they get home. When Magdangal and Escueta return home from work, the kids already know to stay in one room and wait until their parents have showered.
These precautions are second nature to Magdangal, who has always prioritized her and her family’s health. She says, “Pag may nararamdamang masama ang anak ko kahit ano pa yan, binibigyan ko talaga ng pansin. May pagkapraning kasi ako sa mga sakit.”She believes in giving them the right medicine and the proper dosage, at the right number of times. For fever, she trusts Calpol.
“Pag iba na ang pakiramdam and parang iba ang temperature, naka-monitor na ako. As soon as pumatak sa 37.8 yung temperature, Calpol agad.”
Calpol for Kids is a paracetamol-based suspension which can be given to infants and children ages 0-12 years old. It can treat mild to moderate fever and pain associated with discomfort after vaccination, toothaches, headaches, migraines, muscle aches, sore throats and musculoskeletal pain. Calpol for Kids starts to work on fever in 15 minutes and is gentle on kids’ tiny tummies.
“Mabilis talaga umepekto ang Calpol. Pag may lagnat ang anak ko, di ako umaalis sa tabi nila at gusto ko either yakap ko sila o kung natutulog na kami, hawak ko paa nila. Nararamdaman ko agad na bumababa ang lagnat,” Magdangal reveals.
Her kids also love the Calpol strawberry and orange flavors. According to Magdangal, “hindi ako nahihirapan painumin. Tsaka sinisimot pa.”
Times may be tough, but Magdangal has advice for everyone in the new normal. She says, “kung ano man ang nararamdaman nila, hindi sila nag-iisa. Laban lang nang laban lalo na para sa pamilya. Mas malaki tayo sa virus kaya wag natin papabayaan ang sarili natin.”
Besides, there are things to look forward to in the future. For Jolina, she’s hoping to continue vlogging, book more endorsements, and shoot a movie. She wants to learn to cook and bake and she and her husband want to start a business. The family has milestones to celebrate like the kids’ birthdays and her 10th wedding anniversary.
Everything may have changed for families around the world, but Magdangal says that there are three good things that came out of this pandemic: “mas lalo pang na-appreciate ang worth ng family, wala nang mas hihigit pa sa prayer, and yung idea na ‘prevention is better than cure.’”

Lenovo shows Yoga is ‘For All of Us’ featuring Solenn Heussaff, Nico Bolzico. Power couple named as new brand ambassador
Global innovation leader Lenovo is partnering with multi-hyphenates Solenn Heussaff and Nico Bolzico to showcase how there’s a Yoga device made “For All of Us.” Known for their quirky personas and thriving careers both within and outside entertainment, the duo embodies the uncompromising flexibility and performance of Yoga notebooks that cater to practically every kind of personality or profession.
DYNAMIC DUO SOLENN AND NICO SHOW THERE'S A YOGA FOR ALL OF US. Celebrity couple Solenn Heussaff and Nico Bolzico are joining the Lenovo Yoga family. Admired for their diverse careers in front of and behind the camera, they embody humanity’s unique traits and effortlessly match the Yoga lineup’s style, performance, and flexibility.
“Lenovo’s Yoga ‘For All of Us’ campaign celebrates people’s uniqueness and how this particular line of our devices is designed to easily adapt to any situation and fit the users’ needs. Solenn and Nico are stylish, ambitious, and inventive, and these are qualities and principles that we integrate within our Yoga devices. With this project, we hope to inspire fans and customers to be as bold and unapologetic in their pursuit of excellence,” said Michael Ngan, Lenovo Philippines President and General Manager.
Launched globally last year, the Yoga “For All of Us” campaign highlights humanity’s unique traits – both the positive and the negative – and pairs them with Yoga’s innovative technology to allow people to perform to their fullest potential. It celebrates innate attributes that Yoga notebooks spark further among users such as creativity and resourcefulness, while at the same time supports human flaws such as impatience and forgetfulness with its purposeful design. This is a stark contrast from usual campaigns that only revolve around achievements, and people can see all of this unfold by following Solenn and Nico’s journey as they go through their dynamic lives with their Yoga notebooks in hand.
“I love how authentic and different Lenovo’s Yoga For All of Us campaign is as it’s not afraid to celebrate both our feats and flaws as humans. I love taking care of things for my family, but I also make mistakes, having to juggle a lot of things in being a mother and with my career. It’s the same with Nico as well. However, making mistakes is just normal and it’s in these moments that we learn and grow. I love how Lenovo focuses on that and we’re grateful for the opportunity to inspire others as our genuine and true selves,” said Solenn.
Nico also relishes the opportunity to show parts of his daily routine that he hasn’t shared yet. “I am excited to be part of this campaign. It sends a really strong message that mistakes are only temporary setbacks that we can build on. Being in the spotlight, people tend to think we’re living a perfect life but we’re not. There’s a lot of hard work behind the scenes, and I’m excited to see how my Yoga device will help me be better. I’ll be able to share more of my experiences in business and home life, the challenges that I face daily, and how I overcome them with the help of my family and peers, and now with technology as well.”
Lenovo’s Yoga For All of Us campaign fits in perfectly with the couple’s vibrant lifestyle. Aside from her TV and film appearances, Solenn is a painter, makeup artist, and mother to one-year-old Thylane Katana. She is also a successful author of two books and has been involved in product designing through her lifestyle brand. Meanwhile, Nico has also been under the spotlight, but those commitments come second to being a fully-fledged father and entrepreneur in the agribusiness industry. The couple shares their life on social media where they have amassed a huge following.
Matching Solenn and Nico’s energy and flexibility are two of the most versatile Yoga notebooks in the lineup – the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon and the Yoga 9i. The Yoga Slim 7i Carbon’s featherweight body and long-lasting battery life can assist Solenn in home and career tasks, ranging from her art, music, and writing to, most importantly, family needs. The Yoga 9i, on the other hand, allows Nico more opportunities for his businesses through its touch-screen In-Plane Switching (IPS) display with Integrated Pen, two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports for seamless connection, and up to 17 hours of battery use. Both devices also feature Intel’s powerful 11th-generation processors that provide uncompromising performance and contain several useful smart features for home and work.
Aside from their robust features, the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon and Yoga 9i come with Lenovo’s 3-Year Premium Care warranty solution that provides an advanced and tailored level of care capable of reducing downtime and increasing efficiency. Its services, such as a 24x7 direct hotline to technicians and On-Site Repair, can help remove delays for people with vibrant lifestyles like Solenn and Nico, allowing them to do more with Yoga devices no matter how they use them.
Follow Solenn (@solenn) and Nico (@nicobolzico) on Instagram to see how they celebrate humanity’s unique traits in Lenovo’s Yoga For All of Us campaign. Built to enable flexibility, resourcefulness, and ambition among artists, professionals, businessmen, and everything in between, Lenovo’s Yoga notebooks are here to help everyone.

Watch the Next Big Star on TV5
(MANILA, Philippines) – The search for the next big star was marked by the return of Born To Be A Star which premiered last 30 January featuring a fresh set of talents and new judges that will make you look forward to watching the show on weekends.
Produced by VIVA Entertainment for Cignal TV and TV5, the latest reality talent search puts a spotlight on aspiring and talented individuals from across the Philippines. At stake is a P1 million cash prize and a recording and management contract under VIVA Entertainment.
The singing reality show is hosted by breakthrough singer-actress Kim Molina and multi-talented actor Matteo Guidicelli, who both worked together as judge detectives in the recently concluded program Masked Singer Pilipinas. The show also boasts of star-studded panel of judges (“Star Judges”) who will be deliberating the contestant’s progress throughout the show: Philippine Rap Legend Andrew E, Asia’s Vocal Supreme Katrina Velarde, OST Princess and former Born To Be A Star finalist Janine Tenoso, G-Force founder and choreographer Teacher Georcelle Sy, and multi-talented singer Sam Concepcion.
The audition process of the talent search is a lot different from the usual, given the current limitations brought about by the pandemic. Auditionees were asked to submit videos through Tiktok. Out of the hundreds who submitted, only 40 applicants were shortlisted for the TV try-outs. Contestants slayed the stage with their song and dance numbers to get three or more stars from the Star Judges so they can make it to the next round.
The journey of each contestant to achieve the dream of becoming a star will not be a walk in the park. From 40 auditionees, only 21 of them will move on to the training camp where the program’s Star Mentors will be working with them to bring out their full star potential. The next two episodes of the show are a must-see as the remaining contenders will undergo a boot camp training session with Thyro, Wency Cornejo, and Daryl Ong -- dynamic talents known for their expertise in singing, songwriting, and artistic performance. The mentors will be imparting their share of experiences and lessons learned to the finalists vying for the top title of being the next big thing in Philippine show business -- made even more desirable with the promise of new project opportunities and a sweet 1M cash prize.
Who’s going to shine brighter and stand out from the rest? Follow the aspiring stars of Born To Be A Star every Saturday, 7 PM on TV5 and a catch-up airing every Sunday, 8 PM on Viva Entertainment’s SARI-SARI Channel on Cignal TV CH. 03. Also available on SatLite CH. 30 and on Cignal Play on Android and iOS and cignalplay.com.
