Believe in the power of love with new #KwentongJollibee2018 Valentine Series

Indeed no greater power than the power of love!

The now viral #KwentongJollibee2018 Valentine Series videos have once again captured the hearts of many and took the internet by storm, with 4.5M views for “Homecoming,” 9.2M views for “Signs,” and 4.2M for “Status.”

The three new Kwentong Jollibee episodes aim to impart valuable love lessons through beautifully told stories anchored on powerful truths on love.

With an awesome and exciting experience this Monday, February 6 as I attended an exclusive screening and meet & greet with the entire cast and directors at the Ayala Malls The 30th, the media got a closer and more meaningful look at the love stories that inspired this year’s batch of #KwentongJollibee2018 Valentine videos which encourages people to believe in the power of love.

The super talented cast, some are first timer actors/actress in a viral short video and director of each video shared wonderful insights and hugot lines that inspired them to bring the stories and characters to life on the digital screen.

Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and PH Marketing Head Francis Flores said, “Every Valentine’s Day, the brand wants everyone to embrace and feel love with real-life stories from #KwentongJollibee. And this year, the Valentine series returns with episodes that celebrate the power of love in different ways.”

Believing in the power of love

Following last year’s favorite “Crush”, Homecoming tells the story of Gilbert and Ruth, and proves how never giving up can lead to a lifetime of bliss and love.  Directed once again by Joel Ruiz, it follows the couple on the night of their college reunion as they reminisce about how love blossomed between them through sweet gestures and kilig love notes on their favorite Jollibee Cheesy Yumburger.

Signs explores the life of Star, a hopeless romantic who believes that signs will help her find her true love. Directed by blockbuster movie director Ted Boborol, the story takes viewers to a romantic journey as the universe seemed to align and point to Star’s classmate, Mark. It then unravels to a pleasantly romantic twist as Star realizes that while the signs have been wrong, true love eventually found her in the person of her friend Joms.

Director Ianco dela Cruz also returns with an inspiring tale that shows how love is always present with people who truly care for you. Status follows Kat and her journey to realization that the true love she was looking for has been with her family all along.

Netizens took to Facebook and Twitter to express their feelings:

One user said of “Homecoming,” “Do not settle for someone because of his physical attributes or his financial status. Fall for someone who never gets tired of saving you from your own chaos.”

A comment from the “Signs” episode said “Ang galing naman! Ang tagal ko nang hindi kinikilig ah, ngayon na lang ulit. Relate much ako dun sa mga signs. Kudos, Jollibee!”

“This kind of love is the purest of all. Kaya ‘di natin kelangan maghanap ng true love. It will come at the right time, in the right place, unexpectedly” posted another netizen.

Jollibee celebrates milestone 40th year with anniversary anthem featuring Gary Valenciano and Sarah Geronimo

Apat na Dekada. Jollibee marks 40 years of spreading joy with a new anniversary jingle, performed by two of the country’s biggest stars, Gary Valenciano and Sarah Geronimo.
Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano and Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo join forces for a one-of-a-kind collaboration that capture the joy-filled stories of Filipinos to mark the 40th anniversary of the country’s number one fast food chain.

Entitled ‘Apat na Dekada’, the upbeat and heart-warming song encapsulates four decades of joyful moments shared with generations of Filipinos who have made Jollibee a part of their lives. The song was composed by Thyro Alfaro in collaboration with Jollibee’s creative agency, McCann World Group Philippines.

For the past 40 years, Jollibee has been a home to stars who have served as their brand ambassadors. The stellar list includes Sarah and Gary who headlined some of the most memorable Jollibee campaigns but none quite as special as the 40th anniversary anthem.

One of the brand’s first endorsers, Gary shared how it feels to have reached full circle, “I was happy then, overjoyed now because it is 40 years later and I’m doing something with them again.”

For her part, Sarah has been a part of the Jollibee family since 2005 and has since become one of the country’s biggest superstars, growing a wider audience in the same way that Jollibee has continued to spread its reach in the country and across the globe.

While recording the song, the two artists felt waves of nostalgia as they looked back at their own Jollibee moments with their loved ones.

“‘Yung entirety nung message nung kanta, inisa-isa niya ‘yung simple joys of life, ‘yung simple pero masagana, sincere at totoong-totoo kasi ako mismo nakita ko ‘yun, naranasan ko ‘yun, at naramdaman ko ‘yun,” shared Sarah.

Because the song struck a chord in both singers, they agreed it would also easily resonate among many Filipinos. The Popstar Royalty added, “Kasi ‘yung Jollibee it’s not just a brand. Pinapahalagahan talaga ‘yung values ng pamilyang Pilipino, at saka yung importansya ng saya ng pagiging isang buong pamilya. Iyon ‘yung dahilan kung bakit naging malapit sa puso nating mga Pilipino ‘yung Jollibee.”

According to Gary, he was very happy that the brand had gone global.

“I think that they’ve really been able to master that touch of going out of their way, maybe even bending backwards, to stick to what is Filipino, through and through, and it’s now creating an impact. Now people are seeing the consistency and I think that’s something I commend them for. So I think expanding into other countries is not only going to bring a piece of the product to them but it’s also going to bring a piece of the Filipino heart to people all over the world,” he shared.

This is the first taste of many surprises in store for Jollibee’s 40th anniversary year-long celebration. Be part of this special milestone by watching the special music video (LINK) and relive your very own jolly moments!

Shopee teams up with Facebook to help leading retail brands strengthen their eCommerce presence

As part of its 9.9 Mobile Shopping Day celebrations, Shopee, the leading eCommerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, partnered with Facebook for the second time this year in another instalment of its popular Shopee University series.

Held on 30th August 2017 in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, the session saw over 100 members from Shopee's Official Shops, including leading retail brands such as Coca-Cola, Oppo, and Sandisk, coming together to learn about how they could leverage on tools and services from both Shopee and Facebook to grow their online businesses.

(L-R) Shopee and Facebook executives: Deepesh Trivedi (Facebook Head of Retail and eCommerce in Southeast Asia), Freda Luo (Facebook Clients Solution Manager), and Macy Castillo (Shopee Head of Commercial Business Head).
“Our Official Shops are already industry leaders that have captured traditional markets, but are now looking to expand their reach online. By selling on Shopee, they have access to our user-friendly platform, logistical expertise, and also the opportunity to tap into our fast-growing customer base - all of which can help take their businesses to the next level.” said Macy Castillo, Shopee’s Head of Commercial Business.

"The results for Official Shops have so far been very heartening, with many of them managing to reach millions of new customers using our integrated business management tools. To further help these retailers succeed in the global marketplace, we want to help them better understand the marketing tools that they can use to promote their shops and products – one of which is via Facebook, a platform that our Filipino users are already very familiar and adept with", added Castillo.

During the one-hour session, Shopee and Facebook came together to share some of the best industry practices, and how Official Shops could adopt certain tools and methods, such as Facebook advertising to increase their online brand visibility and user engagement on Shopee. Participants also had the opportunity to engage with the speakers during the panel discussion, which facilitated two-way sharing and contributed to a more thorough understanding of the topics covered.

“We’re committed to helping Filipino sellers grow their businesses and unlock growth opportunities on mobile to better reach their customers. As part of that, we’re excited to continue working alongside Shopee to drive more educational efforts, and help sellers reach over 66 million Filipinos on Facebook”, said Deepesh Trivedi, Facebook’s Head of eCommerce, Southeast Asia.

Shopee University is a series of in-depth tutorial modules crafted by Shopee to aid local entrepreneurs and businesses in setting up their online businesses, and helping them succeed in an increasingly competitive eCommerce environment. It was first launched in Philippines in February 2016, and since then, has been conducted in over 30 cities across the country, with over thousands of participants in attendance.

Moving forward, Shopee plans to further expand Shopee University across the Philippines, which includes extending the curriculum and inviting more prominent lecturers from eCommerce backgrounds to share their expertise with Shopee sellers.

100% beefy, langhap-sarap with Jollibee’s newest Yum Burger endorsers Julia Barretto, Joshua Garcia prove that great burger experiences start with delicious aroma

The mouth-watering aroma of perfectly-seasoned, consistently cooked, and high-quality ingredients is indeed the start of the best dining experience.

Young stars Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia – the newest members of the Jollibee family – both agree that there is only one fast-food burger that meets the langhap-sarap criterion: the Jollibee Yum Burger.

“The Yum Burger is uniquely delicious and Pinoy,” said the 19-year-old actress. “Isang langhap mo pa lang, alam mong masarap agad ang matitikman mo.”

Joshua could not agree more. “I love that the Yum Burger is made with 100% pure beef,” he shared. “You can easily smell why it’s the best. Amoy pa lang, ang sarap na.”

These discerning, no-compromise (at least, when it comes to their burgers) young celebs attest to their love for the Jollibee Yum Burger in a TV commercial (TVC) which started airing on March 5, 2017. Watch the TVC below:

The new TVC amusingly mirrors elements from a classic Jollibee 60-second commercial from the 1980s, from visuals to the use of music. The 2017 version pays homage to this hit vintage ad, celebrating how Jollibee has been home to the best inlanghap and best in sarap for decades, pleasing not only foreigners but even today’s millennials.

A burger like no other

The Jollibee Yum Burger, an essential part of the ever-growing menu of the country’s top fast-food chain, has always been a favorite among Filipinos for its unique flavors and distinct aroma.

Every Yum Burger is made with a 100% pure beef patty at its core, seasoned to fit the discerning Pinoy palate.

“With this patty that’s made with 100% pure beef, we’re able to consistently deliver real flavors that Filipinos have loved for decades,” said Francis E. Flores, Jollibee Global Chief Marketing Officer and Philippines Head of Marketing. “This core ingredient is also responsible for the mouthwatering aroma that signals the start of a delicious, satisfying experience.Langhap-sarap, indeed.”

Complementing the inimitable Jollibee beef patty are Jollibee’s very own special burger dressing and soft bun, which make every bite of the Yum Burger a uniquely delightful experience.

New members of the Jollibee family

When Julia and Joshua found out that they will be joining the ever-growing Jollibee family, both admitted to being quite emotional.

“I cried because I was just so happy,” the young actress shared. “Jollibee was a big part of my career when I was just starting out, so this endorsement is like coming home.”

Julia first endorsed the Yum Burger in 2014, which she said was “one of the best choices I’ve made so far.”

“I really prayed and waited for a project like this,” Joshua shared. “I cried when my handler confirmed that my Yum Burger endorsement is a go.”

Both young celebs love the Yum Cheeseburger with Joshua mentioning that this variant offers a flavor experience like the Yum Burger, but even more special because of the cheese.

“We hope that Julia and Joshua will inspire Filipino millennials to continue their pursuit for the best,” concluded Flores. “They embody a generation that won’t settle for anything less than the best and knows that for the best in langhap-sarap, there’s always the Yum Burger.”

The Yum Burger and Yum Cheeseburger are available in Solo or with Jollibee Value Meals for dine-in, take-out, delivery, and drive-thru in all stores nationwide. Prices start at P33.00 and P45, respectively.

Abby Asistio's meeting with Mark Zuckerberg and her Facebook Friends Day experience

Last January 31, 2016, Fellow Filipino Abby Asistio flew to San Francisco and had the wonderful opportunity of being chosen as one of the eighteen invited by Facebook on their 12th Anniversary Friends Day celebration with California-based Alopecia awareness advocate, Rachel Regal. Alopecia is an autoimmune condition which results in partial or total head and body hair loss.

Abby Asistio have had it since she was four while Rachel just developed it sometime in 2012, the same year she discovered that her 10-year-old daughter, Eliana, had it, too. Six inspiring stories were picked by Facebook among its 1.64 billion users and Abby’s friends were all amazed when theye’ve found out that Abby’s Alopecia story was one of them. Imagine that!

Abby and Rachel met each other through the double A hand sign campaign that Aby started in 2012, and They've been "connected" since then. Last year, Facebook Stories featured how these two were able to build a friendship, as well as campaign for disease awareness through Facebook! And last February 1st, Abby and Rachel had the chance to tour FB headquarters in Menlo Park, San Francisco, meet and chat with the people behind Facebook (Founder & CEO Mark Zuckerberg, COO Sheryl Sandberg, CPO Chris Cox, and a whole lot of awesome people), get crazy cool gadgets and have one of the best experiences of their lives.

Abby recounted that it was such a surreal feeling to be in the same room as the creator of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg. Mark Z was wearing his trademark look (jeans, sneakers, shirt and a big smile on his face), and had such a friendly, approachable aura and demeanor about him. Not at all intimidating! He shared stories about how the company started, its mission-vision, the ups and downs that come along, and their future plans.

Those invited also had the chance to ask him questions. When Mark Z was asked about achieving success and life’s “impossibilities”.

Mark Z said  - “There’s a difference between impossible and things taking a really long time. Even if you’re not going to be able to do something in a short time period, if you care about something, you want to see the world to move into that direction… So the best thing to do is just get started and not be discouraged. It’s tough because this stuff is hard, or else people would’ve already done it.”

Abby Asistio got the chance to ask a question to one of the world’s 50 most powerful, successful women in business, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg. Aside from Alopecia awareness, Abby is also an active Real Beauty advocate with girls and women struggling with various insecurities, being so consumed by the world’s unrealistic and sometimes superficial standards of beauty. So Abby asked Sheryl about her perception of it. Sheryl said that beauty is just like success and that no one could really define it for you. We are all unique. We have different stories, dreams and desires. We should explore our own inner and outer beauty, believe and embrace that we are beautiful, and never allow anyone to tell us otherwise.

Mark capped off his talk by sharing their company philosophy with everyone present. Though already having over 1 billion subscribers, there are still 7 billion people all over the world without access to all the meaningful connections and information that Facebook brings. One thing that the company stands by is that “things are always 1% completed”. It keeps them grounded, reminding them that there is always so much work, growth and progress to be done, and so many people to reach out to and help.

Everything about the Facebook trip was overwhelming and inspiring according to Abby. More than anything, it reminded her about “responsibility”.

We are all given our own platforms, in this case “accounts and connections”, to make a dent in this world. It is up to us to become complacent and take these vehicles for granted, or maximize the opportunities and use them to make a positive impact in this generation.

Abby is grateful that Facebook has become a medium for her to communicate disease awareness and touch people beyond the confines of her tiny room and her country. Abby is also glad that she and Rachel are two out of millions of people choosing to recognize the importance of social media in contributing to making this world a better place, and actually doing something about it.

Truly, God plans the best adventures and creates the most beautiful surprises. Abby knows that she wouldn't have been handpicked for this if it weren't for Him, as well as the countless individuals who have cared and showed support for my advocacy.
Abby would like to leave a positive thought to everyone that we should really take the time to search for and identify our “purpose” – that one unique, very specific calling that is the result of our talents, dreams, desires, passions and experiences. Once you find it, be faithful to it no matter how long or difficult the journey towards its fulfillment may be. You’ll never know where it could lead to, how far it could go and how large it could grow.

Abby is also thankful that her campaign continues to spread and reach new heights and she is particularly grateful to Facebook for giving her this opportunity and to Novuhair, Nature's Answer to Hair Loss (www.novuhair.com), for always being so supportive of her advocacy and endeavors. Abby is proud and honored to have represented the Philippines and the Alopecia community in this once-in-a-lifetime, international event.

Lazada PH on Mobile Commerce: We shop like we Facebook

Philippines’ largest online shopping, Lazada,  pioneering e-commerce by providing a fast, convenient and secure online shopping experience combined with an extensive product offering in categories ranging from mobiles & tablets and consumer electronics to household goods, toys, fashion and sports equipment.
The intimacy of the personal smart device, and prevalent social media snacking behavior, has generated a new form of shopping: Mobile Snack Shopping.

According to Facebook, social media apps (FB / Instagram) are intuitively formed for bite sized discovery and snacking of content. With Filipino smartphone user habits primarily shaped by social media consumption, it is no surprise, that Filipinos' mobile shopping habits have similar patterns.

Massive small buys, on small screens

The average cost of an item purchased on the Lazada mobile app is 15% less than items purchased via desktop. But this lower average spend is easily offset by the massive growth of the app portal, up 400% from 2014. This massive growth of m commerce mirrors the Philippine digital landscape where mobile devices are the first and primary source of digital access.

Low cost categories give more reason to browse

According to internal Lazada data, the most popular product categories for app purchases are: Beauty Tools, Food Supplements, Portable Audio, Kitchen & Dining, Small Kitchen Appliances, Diaper & Potty, and Fragrances. The nature of these low cost categories is that they do not have intimidating price points and therefore give more opportunity for product discoveries. In fact consumers spend 67% more time in browsing Lazada through the app versus desktop.

This low cost behavior has similarities to short form content consumption on popular platforms like Youtube, and Facebook. Short videos, gifs, and images, all have relatively low demand on time and bandwidth thus encouraging discovery and consumption of multiple pieces of bite sized content. We snack on content in the same way we browse for good deals: one scroll at a time.

Dead Time is Deal Time

Just as checking social media through your mobile has become a habit during breaks, so too has mobile or app commerce and total traffic peaks during break times. 9am, 12 noon and 8pm, all show peaks in browsing and purchase quite similar to mobile social media consumption peaks. This habitual browsing makes Lazada mobile app users 10% more loyal in terms of repurchase vs. non-mobile purchases.

Free time is so pivotal to increase shopping behavior that Lazada actually targets key holidays for its major sales like the recently concluded Chinese New Year and the upcoming Mobile Power Sale from February 25-28, featuring app-exclusive deals. Lazada will also celebrate its 4th anniversary from March 15-18, with birthday blowout specials on the mobile app.

Ubiquity makes it utility

With 3G smartphones projected to have 100% penetration by 2020, and the constant stream of free content from service providers like Globe, we can expect more and more Filipinos immerse themselves in social media and m-commerce through mobile apps. Content partnerships with Disney and NBA can potentially open up more premium purchasing behavior.

Just as Facebook has become the default utility for friends to keep tabs, how Youtube has emerged as the third big “TV network,” how Video On Demand services like HOOQ and Netflix have become the new cable, so too will m-commerce emerge as the other big player in Philippine retail.

It makes more and more sense for companies, especially those who thrive on the 'tingi' or “sachet” mentality, to consider app-commerce, as a priority distribution channel. The consumer predisposition to small, frequent purchases and the active pursuit for best value via the app makes it very likely that Pinoys will check out the latest sale just as quickly as they check out their latest social media status updates.

Lazada is continuously striving to offer its customers the best possible shopping experience with multiple payment methods including cash on delivery, extensive warranty commitments and free returns. Lazada mobile applications for Android, iPhone and iPad provide additional convenience to its consumers’ allowing them to shop anywhere, anytime.

The website, through its social media, also publishes consolidated crisis response information, as well as supplemental material to agency releases (like briefers on storm surges and flooding, guides to agency advisories, and public safety warnings). A note on the unified system of hashtags employed during weather disturbances:

During storms, the name of the storm with the PH suffix (e.g. #YolandaPH) is used; #walangpasok to announce and track class and work suspensions; #floodPH to report or warn against flooding; #reliefPH to track information on relief efforts; #rescuePH and #safenow for rescue operations.
