Coke Studio Season 2 : Collaborations and Coming Home

Coke Studio Season 2 goes deep to the heart of what we all want: to come home.

And to give life to this idea of home, Coke Studio has gathered stellar talents from diverse genres, differing music scenes and backgrounds and even distant (and not so distant) shores to create works that not only reflect our times but could also define them. While the first season gave audiences a very real look into what goes into the production of a song, Season 2 delves more deeply into the back stories of the artists.

This year, the format is also tweaked, as Coke Studio ventures out into the studio to let us all in each artist’s journey and yes, sometimes, literally, their very own homes.

What is homecoming all about?

It’s all about taking the best lessons of all your journeys and letting them all come together. It’s knowing that no matter how far you go, there will always be a place that is your home. It’s about roots. It’s where you’re accepted for who you are. It’s where you’re reunited with what you love. And who you love. That love and freedom gives you the power to voice out your views. To state what you believe in. To simply be listened to. To reignite what your heart desires. To simply be where you grew up. To return to where it all began. To feel, see, hear, and lift your spirits. Every single day. Homecoming is a chance to be all that you want to be, all that you can dream you can be, and to feel that faith that there is still so much more left to do! It’s about bringing out the best in you and being surrounded by those who inspire you.

Coke Studio bridges musical categories and brave artists to come up with collaborations that will break new ground.

Moira Dela Torre
 IV of Spades
Quest

Moira Dela Torre brings her distinct and deeply felt artistry to this season’s stellar selection. Folk indie band and style rule breakers IV of Spades, bring the sound of now. The power of words is given a new dimension with rapper Quest.

Ben&Ben
Kriesha Chu

Ben&Ben who frames family within the flow of music itself. An exploration of what girl power can really reach is a fun and fresh K-pop but Pinay sensation Kriesha Chu.

Juan Miguel Severo
December Avenue

December Avenue, known for their soulful sound and the many layers in their music, show off the depth of their musical talents. Spoken word pioneer Juan Miguel Severo combines wokeness with wit and word play.

DJ Patty Tiu

Shanti Dope
Khalil Ramos

The rap prodigy Shanti Dope will wow with his deftness and mad skills. Khalil Ramos reveals his deep affinity for singing and composition. DJ Patty Tiu expands the definition of dance music.

 KZ Tandingan
And vocal powerhouse KZ Tandingan showcases a more vulnerable and heartfelt part of her artistic journey. There are also some surprises that will wow music lovers of all genres and generations.

The second season of Coke Studio further establishes itself as a hub of Pinoy talent by going beyond our local shores and connecting with Filipino talents of various genres.

“We received such an overwhelming response during the first season of Coke Studio PH and this really inspired us to work harder this second season and explore ways to take it further. Last year, Coke Studio became a home for OPM and now we want to continue and strengthen that legacy, making sure that the younger generation and the new lineup of artists can feel the same sense of belonging,” enthuses Stephan Czypionka, Coca-Cola Vice President for Marketing.

And as this generation knows, more than any other in the past, that we all have the same home and same duty to care for that home, our planet Earth, Coca-Cola is going all out to make a big grand gesture on recycling. Along with the announcement of Coke Studio Season 2, Coca-Cola announced an industry-first goal to collect and recycle the equivalent of every bottle it sells by 2030, in line with the Company’s vision of a World Without Waste.

At all Coke Studio events, all teens are encouraged to deposit their PET bottles in designated recycling bins. The Coke Studio TuneCycle, a stationary bicycle that grinds recyclable PET bottles will also be a part of all Coke Studio events; this will give a second life to the recyclable PET bottles and turn them to new materials.

Coke Studio emphasizes divergent musical acts coming together, and all these environmental initiatives are also programs for consumers and the company to come together. Every collaboration goes to the heart of connection, which is really what music is all about. When time and talent are given a free space to come together and just connect, the works brim with magic. Coke and music have always been deeply and constantly connected, to provide moments of fun and high spirits. Iconic jingles and unforgettable campaigns have, time and time again, captured the dynamic energy and infections optimism of being young, being with friends and just being yourself. With Coke Studio Season 2, that special buzz and the undeniable electric wonder that only music can bring comes alive again.

Catch them every Sunday at 11:15am before ASAP on ABS-CBN.

Vivo local endorsers, singers, and real-life lovers KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde on Saturday, February 17, charmed their fans at a post-Valentine’s Day show at Limketkai Atrium in Cagayan de Oro City.

The concert, which also featured The X Factor alumni Jeric Medina, Chandreena, and Shameena Moorjani as well as CDO-based Visayan pop singer Winset Jacot, was made possible through the support of global smartphone brand Vivo.

TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan, in a rare occasion, held a concert together for their fans in CDO.

The Limketkai Atrium was jam-packed with fans of all ages, from all walks of life to witness the talented singers perform their hits. In between the songs, fans screamed to show their love and appreciation for the pair. Unsurprisingly, Monterde and Tandingan did not disappoint. They hit the right notes and delivered a show for the books. They even performed a medley of Visayan songs, especially for their Kagay-anon fans.

Monterde sang his original compositions such as “Sa Tuwina,” “Imahinasyon,” and “Mahika.” Tandingan, meanwhile, delighted fans with her rendition of “Tadhana,” “Two Less Lonely People in the World,” and her winning performance of “Rolling in the Deep” on the Chinese television series “Singer 2018.”

The acoustic singer-songwriter seranded Kagay-anon fans with his original hits like “Dating Tayo,” “Tulad Mo,” and “Ikaw at Ako.”

TJ and KZ showed undeniable musicality and chemistry during their post-Valentine’s Day concert in CDO.

Tandingan and Monterde joined Vivo’s family in September 2017 during the launch of the V7+, the brand’s flagship smartphone that boasts of a 24-megapixel front camera and 5.99-inch all-screen display.

Since then, the singers have performed at Vivo’s mall shows in and out of Metro Manila in helping spread the word about what sets Vivo smartphones apart from the pack. Tandingan and Monterde both expressed their gratitude to Vivo for helping them mount the show.

“Vivo has always been supportive of our projects. We’re very thankful to them for helping us sing together for our fans in Cagayan de Oro,” the pair said.

To make the event more exciting, Vivo gave away V7 smartphones to two lucky fans who posted online a photo of the concert using the hashtag #VivoxTVxKZ.

TJ and KZ personally hand out two Vivo V7 smartphones to their audience during their concert.

Two lucky fans got a Vivo V7 smartphone from their idols themselves.

Dubbed as Soul Supreme, Tandingan hails from Digos City, Davao del Sur who won the first season of The X Factor Philippines in 2012. The acoustic balladeer, meanwhile, left his career as a radio personality and a host of ABS-CBN’s regional show MagTV in CDO to pursue his passion for music.
In 2017, they released the official lyric video of their duet “Ikaw at Ako Pa Rin” after it went viral. It was also part of Monterde’s self-titled album.

Top five premium global brand Vivo taps Stephen Curry to endorse V5 Plus, with the world’s first 20MP dual front camera

Vivo Philippines finally launched the Vivo V5 Plus in a star-studded event last January 21 at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium.

After months of speculation and leaks on specifications of the newest and most advanced selfie phone in the market, Vivo V5 Plus was  unveiled and has brought excitements to all to experience the most advanced selfie technology. Full specifications of the much-awaited selfie phone were released during the much-awaited launch.

The perfect selfie phone is the newest flagship model of Vivo, the top five global smartphone premium brand, ideal for today’s selfie age, when millennials and even adults enjoy sharing beautifully-captured self-shots with the world of social media.

The Vivo V5 Plus is Vivo’s newest flagship model, equipped with the world’s first 20-megapixel dual front camera, and advanced selfie features.

Stephen Curry, NBA basketball superstar, is the official endorser of all Vivo phones, including the Vivo V5 Plus perfect selfie phone.

Basketball superstar Stephen Curry is the official endorser of all Vivo phones, including the Vivo V5 Plus. The NBA star earlier said he believes in the brand’s values—energy, professionalism and pleasure—all embodied in its newest flagship model.

Most advanced selfie-technology to date

Equipped with what is, so far, the most advanced selfie technology, Vivo V5 Plus has the world’s first-ever dual front-facing cameras.

The primary front camera, a 20-megapixel IMX376, was co-engineered with top electronics company, Sony, while the secondary 8-megapixel camera was designed to collect depth-of-field information for improved self-portrait quality.
The Vivo V5 Plus boasts an advanced selfie technology that features a ‘bokeh’ effect—a background-blurring photography filter. This is complemented by Vivo’s enhanced face beauty algorithm that allows users to take radiant selfies with no need for editing or correction, and ‘selfie soft light’ which makes selfie-taking possible even in poor lighting conditions.

As for its rear camera, Vivo V5 Plus features an impressive 1/2.8-inch 16-megapixel sensor for ultra-clear and high-quality photos.

Aside from its stunning camera features, the Vivo V5 Plus boasts a superior sound system, using the same Hi-Fi system of Vivo’s recent flagship models, and perfected in over two years—the AK4376.

Equipped with 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, the new Vivo model is capable of performing multiple phone tasks in a speedy and efficient manner. For a unique touch, the phone runs on Vivo’s very own Funtouch 3.0 operating system, based on Android 6.0.

The Vivo V5 Plus also features an updated fingerprint recognition technology, allowing users to unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds. Its fast-charging feature is also expected to come in handy for most users.

Style-wise, the Vivo V5 Plus has a 5.5-inch large display, with an ultra-slim bezel technology, and is made of 5th generation Coring Gorilla glass with enhanced resistance.

Finally, the V5 Plus has a dome-style, 1.8 mm wide u-shaped antenna for better signal reception and, at the same time, a more stylish exterior design.

Celebrity-filled launch

The big reveal was attended by Vivo executives and partners, local celebrities, and top technology, lifestyle and fashion bloggers. Likewise, representatives from the top print, television and online media attended the much-awaited big reveal.

Showbiz Music fans to take the stage at the MYX Music Awards this year

Don’t miss out on the MYX Music Awards, the only music awards show in the Philippines that is aired live on television and is available for streaming over MYX’s official website (www.myxph.com).

The past year saw walls being torn down in the local music scene, where songs and music videos went past what the Philippine audience is used to. When it comes to music, even borders between local television networks and record labels don’t seem to exist anymore.

This year, not only the country’s top bands and musicians who are nominated for different awards will be part of putting together the Philippines’ biggest awards night for music—even showbiz’s stars who are dedicated fans and followers of the local music scene will be taking on the stage to show their support at the MYX Music Awards this year.

The crossover between music and videos stands out even more this year, with the likes of The Voice of the Philippines contestants taking the stage, along with Julia Barretto, Jodi Sta. Maria, Kaye Abad, Tom Rodriguez, Dennis Trillo, Janella Salvador, Jane Oineza, Khalil Ramos, Marco Gumabao, Meg Imperial, Robi Domingo, Gretchen Ho, and many more.

Apart from that, expect intense performances from top music acts, such as Up Dharma Down, Jonalyn Viray, KZ Tandingan, Christian Bautista, Jay-R, Kyla, Sam Concepcion, Quest, Thyro, and Yumi.

This year, MYX will also be declaring the highly anticipated announcement of 2014’s MYX Magna Awardee, given to a historically groundbreaking music act. The MYX Magna Award was given to those who have shaped the local music scene. Over past years, this award has been given to the likes of Lea Salonga, Ryan Cayabyab, Regine Velasquez, Jose Mari Chan, the Eraserheads, Gary Valenciano, Apo Hiking Society, and Sharon Cuneta. This year’s awardee delivered some of Pinoy rock’s catchiest tunes, often adding their own unique humor into their songs.

Don’t miss out on the MYX Music Awards! Check out the streaming over MYX’s official website (www.myxph.com). Catch it on Wednesday (March 26) at 9:00pm, with replays on March 28 at 7:30pm, March 29 at 2:30pm, March 30 at 10:30am, and March 31 at 1:00am.
