For the winning videos, Cherry Mobile will make their wish possible.

“For our OFWs, the happiest time of the year is also sometimes the loneliest. I saw first hand while I travel abroad how much Filipinos yearn for their home and families. There really is no place like home. For those who live in the Philippines, we are happy to give and receive gifts, but deep inside, there’s no greater joy than being with family. I’m proud to be part of a brand that supports, connects, and encourages the Filipino family to be together,” shares brand ambassador Piolo Pascual.

The‪#‎CherryChristmas‬ promo is a dream come true for a lot of our ‪#‎OFWs‬ and their families. This season, through the #CherryChristmas promo, Cherry Mobile rewards the hard work and sacrifices of our unsung heroes – the OFWs.

Cherry Mobile fulfills the deepest wishes of several of our OFWs and reunites them with their loved ones this Christmas through the #CherryChristmas promo. Christmas comes early as Cherry Mobile flies these lucky winners home for free, just in time for the holidays.

Maynard Ngu, president of Cherry Mobile, adds, “One thing holds true to every OFW out there, if they all had a choice, they would never leave their families. I know that they would do everything just to enjoy Noche Buena with their loved ones, to open gifts with their kids, to celebrate Mass with their family and friends, and to revel in the other Christmas traditions. So we would like to gift them with this opportunity. ”

Christmas season, the precious moments spent with family and loved ones. Many OFWs would prefer to be with their loved ones this holiday, however, distance and circumstance prohibit them. While hardworking OFWs brim with pride, sending their families Balikbayan boxes full of gifts and goodies, they are unable to see firsthand the joy and smiles that they bring.

Essilor brand ambassador Piolo Pascual shares tips for healthy eyes

Essilor brand ambassador Piolo Pascual always wears his lenses when using his mobile device

Of all the good-looking men in the entertainment industry, Piolo Pascual is known to stand out from the rest. With just one look from those dreamy and mesmerizing eyes, he can make any girl swoon. But Piolo himself is quick to point out: Having beautiful eyes is not enough. One must have healthy vision as well because this will help you perform tasks and achieve your daily goals.

“In my line of work as an actor, it is very important to read your co-actor’s facial cues properly in a dialogue, and you can only accomplish it with good eyesight.  That is why eye care is a serious matter for me. Without good vision, we can only do so much, and this limitation can stand in the way of achieving our goals.”

That’s what Piolo shared with media friends during the launch of “Seeing the World Better,” a public awareness campaign on the importance of good vision organized by Essilor, the world leader in vision solutions.

Here, Essilor’s brand ambassador Piolo Pascual shares some important tips for healthy eyes:

Keep your eyeglasses on.

“I am fond of surfing the internet through my mobile device, but I have learned that the blue light from electronic devices can harm our eyesight, so I always wear my eye lenses on,” Piolo shared. Harmful blue light is a risk factor for the onset of age-related macular degeneration, a deterioration of the part of the retina responsible for sharp, central vision. To prevent its damaging effect, eye doctors recommend wearing lenses that effectively blocks the harmful blue light. Reading in a dark room should also be avoided. With only your mobile device as your main light, the glare on the screen can cause eye strain.

Follow a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet.

Eating a healthy, nutritious diet is beneficial to our eyes. Vitamins C, A and E, folic acid, selenium and zinc, which are present in fruits and vegetables, can make your eyes healthy. Have a daily dose of fruits and vegetables like grapes carrots, spinach, kale, or collard greens, for a clearer, better vision.

Keeping a healthy lifestyle can also be helpful to your eyes, and your overall health. Piolo, who is a known triathlete, maintains a healthy lifestyle by engaging in sports like swimming, biking and running. By maintaining healthy weight, it reduces the chance of getting eye diseases. According to National Eye Institute, being overweight or obese increases your risk of developing diabetes and other systemic conditions, which can lead to vision loss, such as diabetic eye disease or glaucoma.

Visit your optometrist regularly

Piolo shared that he has 20/20 vision, but despite having perfect eyesight, he regularly sees an eye doctor to make sure his eyes are in good condition. Regular visits to an eye doctor are very important because it can pick up early signs of eye conditions. You need not wait for symptoms like headaches, dizziness, nausea and cloudy vision before visiting your optometrist. At the same time, eye check-ups may also detect most diseases, such as diabetes, arthritis, heart diseases, and even certain cancers, and can help cure or prevent these diseases from worsening over time. Make an appointment with your eye doctor once a year to keep your eyes and whole body healthy.

There you have it -- Straight from the man whose expressive, healthy eyes have captivated legions of admirers. By simply keeping these tips in mind, we can keep our precious peepers looking good and healthy and be able to perform our daily activities the best way we can.

Essilor's Ambassador Piolo Pascual launches campaign for healthy vision

Philippine's top actor, a sportsman and a known health buff, Piolo Pascual headlining the Essilor's campaign for healthy vision. Essilor's campaign launches today, Monday February 16, 2015 held at the 55 Events Place, Quezon City.

As Piolo believes prevention is the first step towards healthy vision, will appear in Essilor’s latest TVC and educational materials.

“Good eye health is a serious matter because it is essential to performing practically all our daily tasks. Without good vision, we can only do so much and this limitation can stand in the way of achieving our goals," Piolo said.

In response to reports that over 20 million Filipinos are in need of visual correction, top global ophthalmic lenses manufacturer Essilor has launched a public awareness campaign on the importance of good vision, with top celebrity Piolo Pascual as brand ambassador.

Essilor is the world leader for corrective lenses. The success of the company, which is present in more than 100 countries, is the result of a strategy that has been driven by innovation for more than 160 years. It has been awarded by Forbes magazine as “The World’s Most Innovative Companies” for four consecutive years.
From design to manufacture, Essilor develops a wide range of lenses to protect and correct eyesight. Its mission is to enable everyone in the world to see well using lenses tailored to their needs. The company devotes 150 million euros a year on research and development to offer increasingly efficient products.

“Across the globe, 4 billion people need visual correction, and in the Philippines, over 20 million individuals need visual correction. As a leader, we feel it is our responsibility to do something to alleviate the situation and this is the reason we are doing this campaign,” said Dr. Emelita Roleda, Essilor general manager.

“Essilor's ‘Seeing the World Better’ campaign is our company's way of helping the world see better by raising awareness about the importance of healthy vision and address the alarming number of visual impairment cases in the country. We also hope that through this campaign, Filipinos will start paying more attention to their eyes so they can see the world in a clearer and brighter view,” Dr. Roleda added.

To effectively raise awareness, Essilor launched its latest infomercial featuring brand ambassador Piolo Pascual performing various activities – swimming, reading, driving – and how good vision helps him accomplish these tasks effectively. The newest TV ad will air on March 1, at primetime slots on select cable channels.

The campaign will drive three important messages:

1) Prevention: Essilor lenses help prevent age-related eye diseases

2) Protection: It also helps provide everyday protection from ultraviolet (UV) rays
    and harmful blue light

3) Correction: promote the initial purpose of Essilor which is to help correct eyesight.

Dr. Roleda cites the plethora of electronic devices that we are exposed to everyday, which emits harmful blue lights that damage the retina. “Repetitive exposure to blue light posts threat to our eyes. It may cause oxidative damage, and may be responsible for causing age-related macular degeneration, which can result to blindness.” Wearing protective lenses like Crizal Prevencia, she adds, can do a lot in preventing the detrimental effects of harmful blue light. Crizal Prevencia is the only clear lens that selectively filters harmful blue light from gadgets, LED and UV light while letting through the healthy blue light.

Ultraviolet (UV) rays, on the other hand, contribute to the development of cataracts. Wearing Crizal Forte UV lenses can protect our eyes from these harmful rays.

For those starting around age 40, our eyes can gradually lose the ability to focus on nearby objects; this is an unavoidable condition but it can be corrected, says Dr Roleda. “Essilor Varilux progressive lenses offer a smooth transition from distance vision through intermediate vision to near vision. This means that instead of having just two different viewing zones (near and distant), like with bifocals, Varilux provides the most natural vision correction,” said Dr. Roleda.

Founded in 1972, Essilor is a worldwide leader in developing and manufacturing ophthalmic lenses, lens coatings and dispensary technologies. Premium eyeglass lenses from Essilor are the result of more than 150 years of advanced research, innovation and technology.

A true leader in innovation, Essilor revolutionized the vision correction industry in 1959 with the invention of the world’s first progressive lens. The brand provides consumers and the eye care professionals with quality spectacle lenses, diagnostic tools, services and support in business.

Piolo Pascual returns to tv drama with family soap “Hawak Kamay”

ABS-CBN’s newest drama series “Hawak Kamay,” will redefine the Filipino family starting on Monday (July 21).

The kick-off of the series also marks acclaimed actor Piolo Pascual’s much-anticipated return to television drama following the success of his movie “Starting Over Again” earlier in the year. Piolo will be taking on “Hawak Kamay” along with three of the country’s most powerful child stars, Zaijan Jaranilla, Andrea Brillantes, and Xyriel Manabat. The series will also introduce Grand i-Shiner Yesha Camile, who was under the mentorship of Piolo during her stint in the Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp.

Although he has done a number of television shows in the past, Piolo Pascual said he is still very excited about his upcoming family soap, “Hawak Kamay.”

Pascual said the new ABS-CBN series will focus more on the family as compared to the past projects he’s done.

“First of all, I’m working with four kids, these are child superstars. I’m also working with Iza. It’s different because it’s a family thing. Usually love triangle or love story pero ito, it’s more on the family side. Filipinos are very family-oriented so I believe na makaka-relate ang maraming pamilya. Para sa mga Pilipino talaga ito,” Pascual said.

Asked if he feels pressured for it to do well in the ratings game, Pascual quickly said, “Hindi naman mawawala ang pressure. You have to live with it.”

“I’m just thankful and I guess, what I have to focus on is the fact that I’m given work to do and it’s a blessing. I’m just giving my best and take things one day at a time,” he added.

“Hawak Kamay” will also star Piolo’s “Starting Over Again” co-star Iza Calzado, who will be joined by singer-actress Nikki Gil and “Banana Split: Extra Scoop” and “Banana Nite” mainstay Ryan Bang. The show will also feature Victor Neri, who makes a comeback through “Hawak Kamay,” with “She’s Dating the Gangster” cast member Sofia Andres, and former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Axel Torres.

This cast will be behind the story of Gin (Piolo Pascual), a failed musician who becomes the guardian of the three orphans that his dearly departed sister adopted: Emong (Zaijan Jaranilla), Dara (Xyriel Manabat), and Ningning (Yesha Camile).

Tough attorney Bianca (Iza Calzado) and her sister Lorrie (Andrea Brillantes) witness how the reluctant and unprepared Gin ends up as a potential father figure to these three kids.

Gin falters in his new role and gives up at one point. Eventually, however, he becomes fond of the kids and even accompanies them in a vacation.

As they encounter different trials, Gin gains sight of the more important things in life, and little by little, they all realize what exactly makes a family.

“Hawak Kamay” will mark the third major project of Pascual and Calzado together, after the films “Milan” (2004) and “Starting Over Again” (2014).

The primetime series will also be a reunion for Pascual and Jaranilla, who both top-billed the action-fantasy series “Noah” in 2010.

The cast of “Hawak Kamay” will be making things exciting at Fairview Terraces, the day before the show launches. Join Piolo, Iza, Zaijan, Xyriel, Andrea, and Yesha as they put on a mall show for fans on Sunday (July 20) at 4:00pm.

Catch the story of “Hawak Kamay” as it begins to unfold on Monday (July 21) after “TV Patrol” on ABS-CBN. For updates, visit “Hawak Kamay’s” official website (hawakkamay.abs-cbn.com), like "Hawak Kamay" on Facebook (www.facebook.com/HawakKamayTV), and follow @HawakkamayTV on Twitter and Instagram.

"Starting Over Again" by award-winning director Olivia M. Lamasan

Starting Over Again is a film by Olivia M. Lamasan starring Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga to shown in Philippine cinemas nationwide starts February 12, 2014. Starting Over Again produced by Star Cinema.
Olivia M. Lamasan (center) directs Piolo
Pascual and Toni Gonzaga in Starting

Over Again
Starting Over Again, is not the usual love story that depicts a man and a woman who meet and fall in love and live happily ever after. In contrast, the film is centered on the story of two former lovers who meet for the very first time after their break-up. The film dares to pose the question on whether or not romantic love between two people who strayed apart could truly be rekindled despite the passage of time. The lovers in the film, as portrayed by Piolo and Toni, are faced with the seemingly insurmountable task of dealing with a huge unfinished business in their failed relationship.

Fall in love all over again in a different kind of love story this Valentine with Star Cinema’s 20th anniversary presentation Starting Over Again with Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga.

"Starting over Again" follows the love story of Ginny (Toni) and Marco (Piolo). They met on campus where Ginny was an Architecture student, while Marco is a professor. Ginny pursued Marco, her crush.

In time, Marco also fell for Ginny and they began a one-of-a-kind love story. Unfortunately, their relationship ended when she left for no apparent reason. When she returned, Ginny found herself wanting to rekindle her past with Marco. Can her love be enough for him to forget the pains of the past? Can they ever start over again?

Starting Over Again is Olivia M. Lamasan’s 11th full-length feature film under Star Cinema. Her impressive body of work comprises some of Star Cinema’s most unforgettable and classic love stories which include Hanggang Kailan Kita (Mamahalin, Maalaala Mo Kaya, Sana Maulit Muii, Minsan Minahal Kita, Madrasta, Got 2 Believe, Milan, In My Life, In The Name Of Love, and 2012’s blockbuster hit The Mistress. With the film outfit’s greatest love stories under her belt, Star Cinema’s anniversary celebration will not be complete without an Olivia M. Lamasan film.

“I’ve always wanted to work with Toni Gonzaga and it has been years since I worked with Piolo Pascual,” says Lamasan, who is fondly called Inang by the industry. “I wanted to do a light romantic film again since the last movie that I directed that falls in that category was Got 2 Believe which was way back in 2002. It was just a matter of putting all the right elements together and looking for the perfect material that will best work with the very first big-screen team-up of Piolo and Toni who are two of ABS-CBN’s biggest stars.”

“A lot of people have been waiting for the big film collaboration of Piolo and Toni and I’m very happy that Star Cinema entrusted this movie to me,” explains Inang. “Piolo and Toni were first seen in a commercial 13 years ago and they never really worked on a big and major project like this, so even they themselves are very excited.”

Inang openly admits that she has missed working with Piolo whom she last worked with in 2004’s Milan. “He is such a humble and brilliant actor. Piolo’s dedication to his craft is unbelievable.” As for Toni, Inang is very impressed with her timing and professionalism. “Toni loves what she’s doing and she is filled with so much energy and passion with everything she does. Her timing is impeccable and she is a thinking actor. It’s a joy to work with such talented artists like Piolo and Toni.”

Piolo Pascual has worked with award-winning director Olivia M. Lamasan in “Milan” back in 2004, and now, they reunite for the movie “Starting Over Again.”

“Milan remains to be one of my top three favorite films. Working with Inang is like going to school because I always learn something new from her everyday. She is fantastic and learning never stops with Inang.”

While Piolo endearingly refers to Olive as both mentor and teacher.

In his years in the business, Piolo thought that he knew everything, but working and reuniting with Direk Olive made him realize that there are still a lot of things that he has to learn

Toni on the other hand sees Lamasan as an iconic figure in the film industry that she is honored to work with for the very first time. “Inang is awesome. She is a dream to work with. I’ve been waiting for a long time to finally work with Piolo and it has always been in my bucket list to do an Olive Lamasan movie. Now it’s finally done. I couldn’t contain my happiness when I learned that this project is pushing though. This is a major highlight of my career.”

“Starting over again could mean a lot of things,” Inang shared.

“We should all be ready to forgive, move-on, and grow in whatever choice we make for love. We should all let go of emotional baggage to live a life with no regrets. You have to watch the movie to find out what we mean when we say starting over again.”

Starting Over Again is written by Carmi Raymundo and it also stars Iza Calzado, Joross Gamboa, Bryan Santos, Beauty Gonzales, Cai Cortez, and Edgar Allan Guzman. Starting Over Again is showing in all cinemas nationwide starting Feb. 12.
This is the movie theme song by Lani Misalucha.

And when I hold you in my arms I promise you
You're gonna feel a love that's beautiful and new
This time I'll love you even better than I ever did before
And you'll be in my heart forevermore

We, we're just too young to know we fell in love and let it go
So easy to say the words goodbye, so hard to let the feelings die
I know how much I need you now, the time is turning back somehow
As soon as our hearts and soul unite
I know for sure we'll get the feeling's right

And now we're starting over again, it's not the easiest thing to do
I'm feeling inside again, 'cause every time I looked at you
I know we're starting over again, this time we'll leave all the pain away
Welcome home my lover and friend, we are starting over, over again

If we never leaved alone, then we might have never known
All the times we spent apart, all we did was break each other's heart

And when I hold you in my arms I promise you
You're gonna feel the love that's beautiful and new
This time I'll love you even better, than I ever did before
And you'll be in my heart forever more

And now we're starting over again, it's not the easiest thing to do
I'm feeling inside again, 'cause every time I looked at you
I know we're starting over again, this time we'll leave all the pain away
Welcome home my lover and friend, we are starting over, over again

Now we're starting over again, this time we'll chase all the rain away
Welcome home my lover and friend, we are starting over, over again
We are starting over over again

Star Cinema and Reality Entertainment action-thriller "OTJ" (On The Job) with Piolo, Gerald and Joel Torre

Star Cinema and Reality Entertainment action-thriller "OTJ" (On The Job) with most of the talented actors in the country namely Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson, Joey Marquez and Joel Torre and directed by award-winning film director Erik Matti, is finally set on August 28, 2013.

Direk Erik Matti was inspired to make action after the thriller - horror genres of Tiktik:The Aswang Chronicles.

"OTJ" features Piolo as an NBI agent who aims to hunt down Gerald's character who is a professional hitman.

Director Erik Matti, leading man Piolo Pascual and comedian/host Joey Marquez shared so many interesting stories about their experience in France and the making of OTJ film, during the blogcon last Sunday held at the ABS-CBN bldg.
Direk Eric said that “OTJ” can stand as a film because of its interesting story. This is not just an ordinary action movie It’s not like other regular local action movies that have scenes like actors are punching their face to each another, brutality, killing, and others, OTJ features a lot of action sequences and chase scene ever in Philippine cinema.

You must watch this film because it is a movie that has lot of action sequences you never watch in other local action films.

As Direk Erik shared his feelings on the film OTJ needed more push. "We feel that this project, if this works in the mainstream, this will open up the doors to other films in mainstream and that would be good for us as an industry na marami ng iba-ibang movies yung magagawa.”

"For years puro lang tayo female-driven movies. Now yung mga lalaki ang tatamad narin tumayo at manood hanggat hindi pinipilit mag-date,”he added.

Joey Marquez said that this film opens up the gate to widen our views na maraming pwedeng mangyari na akala natin hindi nangyayari."

"If this works in the mainstream, this will open up the doors to other kinds of films and that will be good for us." Direk Erik said.

"I think you just have to have respect for the craft. You don't bring your work home kasi yun ang time mo sa sarili mo e," Piolo added.
"If you look at my filmography lahat ng di pwedeng gawin, yun ang ginagawa ko. Nung hindi uso ang bold, gumawa ako ng bold. Masaya lang kasi na you can do other things other than what's accepted and you'll find out if people will bite the project or not. And easily if it doesn't work, charge it to experience."
"Sometimes you want to push what you can offer the audience kasi di ba if you keep on doing the same thing parang [wala rin siya.] This one is a risk, I know, but we're happy with the kind of action film that we're doing because it is a modern Pinoy action film," Matti added.

"Whether you're a fan of action or not, we think everyone's going to enjoy the film."

Direk Erik said that “OTJ” was screened at the Directors’ Fortnight at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The film received standing ovation during its premiere at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. The Erik Matti masterpiece was one of the 21 feature films of the prestigious Directors’ Fortnight section of Cannes.
Also part of the “OTJ” are Lito Pimentel, Angel Aquino, Shaina Magdayao. Empress, Leo Martinez, Vivian Velez Dawn Jimenez, and Rayver Cruz.
