It’s all in the journey: Finding love with John Lloyd & Bea’s One True Pair The Movie, a film from Jollibee Studios

Many people dream of falling in love with the right person at the right time and making it last forever, but many are left disappointed yet continue searching while some give up and find other kinds of love that work for them.

Love might be a powerful and universal feeling yet it’s anything but simple--that is at the heart of the newest Jollibee Studios film, One True Pair The Movie, starring the country’s most iconic love team, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.

One True Pair. Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz make a comeback film with Jollibee Studios.

The film tells the story of Ian and Gela, two famous celebrities who were once a popular on-screen tandem for many rom-com movies over the years. Ian, dubbed the “Prince of Philippine Cinema,” took a short break from showbiz while Gela continued being a top celebrity.

After his break, Ian and Gela reunite once again as they work on a project together. In their musings and conversations, we see how they are as real people, how they’ve matured individually over time, and their enduring friendship and love for each other.

The film is directed by JP Habac and is a deeply insightful film that shows that as people grow, so does the love they have for other people.

The country’s One True Pair gives a heart-wrenching, yet insightful, exchange of lines in a short film with Jollibee Studios.

The country’s one true pair

After the release of the film on Dec. 1 on the Jollibee Studios YouTube channel, One True Pair the Movie has amassed over 4 million views with many commenting that the film felt unscripted and surfaced the reality of what it meant to love a person and how the definition of love changes as life goes on.

The film also led the YouTube channel to grow from 652,000 subscribers before the release of the film to 704,000 subscribers to date.

Parang ‘di scripted, parang totoo, parang lahat galing sa puso, parang nanonood ka ng totoong buhay ng dalawang artista na minsan sumugal pero natakot sa nararamdaman. Thank you Jollibee nakaka-touch kasi ito talaga ang reality,” said Crizell Susana on YouTube.

The film also highlighted why John Lloyd and Bea have remained the most iconic love team in the Philippine entertainment industry for more than a decade.

“I feel that the storyline was inspired by them…I love how John Lloyd and Bea had inputted their emotions into this,” said Cheenee in a comment on the film. “I realized how humans are so complex to the point that love cannot be explained in just one tense. There are indeed different types of love,” she added.

Well loved by Filipinos since the 2000s, Bea and John Lloyd bring waves of joy and kilig with Jollibee Studios’ One True Pair The Movie.

The journey of finding the love that lasts

Within the 35-minute film, One True Pair The Movie showed that there are different kinds of love and that the journey of finding the One is also a journey of finding oneself.

The story of Gela and Ian showed that throughout their lives, people may find several “loves” from the first love who taught them how to love–the fairytale, the ideal but one often does not last. The love that changed them and taught them how to love themselves. This is the love that’s painful but one that they’ll look back and be thankful for because it taught them how to choose themselves and walk away. The love that lasts–it's the one that stays even after the romance is gone--that inexplicable connection that remains even if the kilig is gone. This is the love that was built on all the lessons in a person’s journey. This is the love that has grown through joy and adversity, and is made even more special for it. And finally, the love that goes beyond romance–this is the love that has always been there while they are busy loving the first three kinds and all other kinds of love they wanted to be in.

The beauty of taking that journey in finding the love that lasts is that it is as much a journey of yourself--accepting yourself and loving yourself and how you appreciate the people that came and went in your life and how those experiences made you grow into the person you are now.

Find your own kind of love in Jollibee’s One True Pair the Movie exclusively on Jollibee Studios and find more lessons in love and life by subscribing to the Jollibee Studios YouTube channel.

Turks over a couple of months ago released a video of Cruz, which became viral in the social media. It’s the first endorsement appearance of John Lloyd after a long a hiatus from the show business.

Turks once again created a buzz over Cruz appearance and now with his long time leading lady, Bea Alonzo. During an interview, Cruz expressed his gratitude to Turks, saying, “Thank you sa leading man ng Turks, Mr. Gem Zenarosa dahil pinatulan mo ang mga naglalarong ideas sa utak ko.”

#AngPagbabalik ! John Lloyd Cruz first endorsement appearance after two years! Is he coming back to the limelight?

Photos and videos of matinee idol John Lloyd Cruz  have been surfacing after being on hiatus from the showbusiness since 2017.

Cruz, one of the most bankable actors of the Philippine cinema and very effective endorser once again proved that his fans are still waiting for his return. In a teaser video, which lasted only for a few seconds and only shows the back shot of John Lloyd, and posted in the
Facebook page of the number one selling shawarma Turks a few weeks ago had been viewed 3.2M times, shared almost 800 times and gained a huge number of comments.

Without any clue in that teaser video, his fans already assumed that it was him in the video. Even actress Bea Alonzo posted on her Instagram a screenshot of that teaser video, which garnered almost a million likes.

This Monday morning Turks finally revealed in the 1-minute and 17 seconds video of John Lloyd Cruz showing the actor walking through different destinations, which somehow depicts his sojourn. The video is very simple, yet there’s drama the way it was created, and in a very subtle shot, he stopped and took a bite of a Turks pita donner.

The rugged look of John Lloyd Cruz in the Turks video titled Ang Pagbabalik is way too far from his guy-next-door image and a lot of people in the industry are asking if this signals his return to the limelight. His fans are still wondering about the life he’s been living since his hiatus.

According to Turks president Gem L. Zenarosa that during the course of his talks with John Lloyd Cruz, they never talked anything about his showbiz career or plans. He added that he got him as the latest ambassador of Turks because of his great confidence working with him.

“I am really grateful that John Lloyd trusts our company, he is a brilliant and very creative young man. Aside from acting we have discovered some of his remarkable talents,” Zenarosa stressed.

The Ang Pagbabalik according to Zenarosa is actually about Turks Small Pita Doner, which will be available again in all its branches.

“John Lloyd is the best endorser for this because like him, despite his absence in the showbusiness for a couple of years, the warmth and love of his fans for him never dwindles. With our Small Pita Doner we believe that our customers will be happy to know that it is back in our menu,” Zenarosa explained.

Just like Cruz who is seen to have a different image since he last appeared in the big screen, a clear indication that the actor is recreating himself and exploring different grounds, Turks is also doing the same thing to keep its customers excited whenever they visit a branch.

In time for the release of Cruz’s endorsement video, Turks also released to the market its newest offering — Turks Rice Bowl, which is a complete meal. You can choose beef or chicken for your rice topping, and it is priced at P50.00. The Small Pita Donner on the other hand, is priced at P35.00.

“To keep up with the demands of our customers, Turks continues to improve our menu and offerings to satisfy the discriminating taste of our loyal patrons,” Zenarosa stressed.

John Lloyd Cruz now joins the roster of endorsers of Turks such as Piolo Pascual and son Inigo Pascual.

Witness The Trial!

“The Trial” – a Chito S. Roño and John Lloyd Cruz cinematic masterpiece that no one should ever miss.

“The Trial” is a poignant family drama about how two families will cope with a scandal. The tragedy each of the characters face will put their love for one another to the ultimate test. They will all eventually learn if love can really withstand the greatest trial or not. This thought-provoking drama aims to challenge everyone into pondering the idea of who is really in trial once Ronald is brought to court.

“The Trial” revolves around Ronald Jimenez (Cruz), a mentally challenged 27-year-old man who is accused of raping his grade school teacher Bessie. Defense attorney Julian, who is on the verge of separating from his wife Amanda and the father of Ronald’s best friend Martin, will represent Ronald in court.

In “The Trial,” Ronald Jimenez was not born rich. He was even born with a rare mental condition that limits his thinking capacity.

“He speaks the language of love in the purest form.”

This is the kind of love Ronald, the character of John Lloyd Cruz, is giving to everyone especially his special someone, Teacher Bessy (Jessy Mendiola).

This is despite his mental condition called mild intellectual disability.

Ronald grew up from an unconventional family. They may not have a lot of material wealth but his parents, gay and lesbian, expressed their love in the most possible ways.

Ronald’s pure heart and his extraordinary family setting, according to John Lloyd, has captured the heart of the master director Chito Roño.

“The Trial” remains consistent with Star Cinema’s steadfast commitment to motion picture excellence, as it is groundbreaking and historic in so many ways specifically for both Direk Chito and John Lloyd.

Star Cinema continues to celebrate its 20th anniversary with the upcoming mainstream theatrical release of “The Trial”,  Roño’s newest movie under Star Cinema since he directed 2012’s smash hit “The Healing” starring Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos.

For John Lloyd, who is a certified box-office king and arguably one of the most critically acclaimed actors of his generation, “The Trial” marks his much-awaited comeback to full-length feature films.

“The Trial” is the newest movie that John Lloyd is starring in after he broke box-office records worldwide with Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo in the romantic comedy “It Takes A Man And A Woman” (2013). Prior to “The Trial,” the last movie that featured John Lloyd as a dramatic actor was “The Mistress” (2012).

With a script written by Kris Gazmen, a versatile screenwriter whose diverse work range from such Star Cinema blockbuster hits as the comedies “Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat” and “Sisterakas” to dramatic films such as “No Other Woman” and “One More Try,” “The Trial” is the biggest and most gripping family drama of 2014.

Aside from John Lloyd, the film assembles an impressive line-up of accomplished and talented actors as led by Richard Gomez, Gretchen Barretto, Jessy Mendiola, and Enrique Gil.

Richard, one of the country’s finest actors whose most recent credits include the phenomenal primetime series on ABS-CBN “Walang Hanggan” and Star Cinema’s blockbuster hit “She’s Dating The Gangster,” plays the role of Julian. Gretchen on the other hand, plays the role of Julian’s wife, developmental psychologist Amanda. Like Richard, Gretchen is also an acclaimed artist and she is also one of the most controversial and influential celebrities in the industry.

Kris Gazmen, Direc Chito Rono and Jessy Mendiola during the Blogcon

Jessy, who is one of ABS-CBN’s fastest rising young stars, plays the role of Martin’s teacher Bessie while Enrique, who is currently one of ABS-CBN’s hottest young actors, plays the role of Martin.

With an awesome ensemble cast with Direk Chito and John Lloyd at the helm and an amazing story as the unifying element that binds all of them together, “The Trial” will enlighten moviegoers of all ages.

Ultimately, everyone will be reminded that trials are not just confined within the four corners of a courtroom, as trials are something that every person goes through on a daily basis.

“The Trial” begins in all mainstream cinemas nationwide starting October 15.

Cinema One Presents "It Takes a Man and a Woman"

Cinema One, the country's number one cable channel, is bringing the highest grossing Filipino romance film to television for the first time, with its premiere airing of Cathy Garcia-Molina's "It Takes a Man and a Woman," airing on Sunday (February 2).

"It Takes a Man and a Woman," which stars the blockbuster love team of John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo, is the third installment in the "A Very Special Love" film series, wherein John Lloyd and Sarah reprise their roles as Miggy Montenegro and Laida Magtalas.

It follows the life of Miggy and Laida after their break up, which occurred after the events in the second film. Miggy, at this point, is in a relationship with Belle (Isabelle Daza), while Laida is now a fiercer version of herself after having lived in the United States.

When Laida comes home, she gets on board with the publishing arm of Miggy's company, and the two struggle to co-exist in the same workplace after having broken up.

In their attempts to go against or with each other, the two fall into a series of events that lead them to realizing the real definition of true love.

"It Takes a Man and a Woman" received a remarkable critical response, even reaching the point of having its theatrical run extended. It has grossed over P400 million during its run in Philippine cinemas and over P200 million overseas.

The film was graded "A" by the Cinema Evaluation Board and a rating of "GP" by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

Bibsy M. Carballo of Philippine Star said, "It Takes A Man & A Woman answered the challenge of offering a more mature perspective, according to direk Cathy, transforming a girl and a boy into a man and a woman with the capability of love and forgiveness, beyond just the 'kilig' factor."

The film was also notably a breakthrough for Sarah as an actress. Tito Genova Valiente, chairman of the Urian Awards (Filipino Film Critics Circle) praised her acting, saying, "There are gems in her performance as Laida. Note the moments when the camera catches her in doubt. See her hurting with a slightest twitch of lips. Those subtleties, not expected by this writer, is good news.
