“Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK) pocketbooks available in bookstores and newsstands

It’s time to flip through the pages of the “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK) pocketbooks once again, as ABS-CBN Publishing, Inc. brings back stories for Filipinos to stay tuned for; stories that are set to not only thrill, but to serve as reflections for real people with real tales to tell—of love, family, career, or country.

Two stories will be hitting bookstores and newsstands to kick things off—“Popcorn” and “Fishball” by favorite “komiks” writer and editor KC Cordero.
“Popcorn” details different kinds of love—the love of a boy named Earl for a girl named Maya who has overcome obstacles, the love of Maya as a daughter for her mother Aling Clara, and the love of a mother that asks for nothing except the well-being of her children.
On the other hand, “Fishball” goes into how “puppy love” plays out—between two innocent young ones who are faced with the obstacle of living in two different worlds.

Apart from the romance, “Fishball” also contains life lessons such as respect for one’s family, the importance of making the right decisions, and the necessity of keeping an open mind. Bear witness to the story of Ian, a fishball vendor named Imee, and her older sister Leslie as it unfolds at the turn of each page.

These two inspiring MMK pocketbooks today are available at National Bookstore, 7-11, and BookSale stores and outlets nationwide. Grab copies now and enjoy!

Vibal (Vibal Group Chair); Gaspar A. Vibal (President and CEO of Vibal Group), Toots Policarpio (DIWA executive director), Paolo Sibal (Vice President, Central Books Supply, Inc.) and Allan Hao Chin (President of Norde International Distributors).
Vibal-HP Open House and Technology Fair held at Vibal’s headquarters in Araneta Avenue, Quezon City last  presents us the printing innovations as milestone makes Vibal the country’s biggest digital publisher.
"These milestone initiatives validate Vibal’s transition into a business beyond printing. Ending the momentous event," shared by Vibal Group President and CEO Gus A. Vibal.

“Our custom cloud solutions will enable highly digital lifestyles and make everyday computing tasks simple, easy, and inter-connected, either physically, virtually, or both. Vibal offers custom cloud solutions that enable Filipinos to experience tomorrow’s technology today,” Vibal adds.

This is now possible with Vibal Cloud Services (VCS) custom cloud technologies developed by Vibal in partnership with global brand Hewlett-Packard (HP).

During the Vibal-HP Open House and Technology Fair held at Vibal’s headquarters in Araneta Avenue, Quezon City, Vibal Group President and CEO Gus A. Vibal explained that with cloud, government agencies and private firms can take advantage of scalable, on-demand cloud computing to better service digital lifestyle users. Another major HP acquisition: the HP T230 digital printer, which is the first installation of its kind in Southeast Asia. This milestone makes Vibal the country’s biggest digital publisher with the addition of the HP T230 to its existing HP Indigo 5500 digital press.

Mr. Vibal shared that data center and IT infrastructure costs can easily surpass PhP40 million – excluding maintenance and administration costs. In partnership with other global technology providers, Vibal’s technology suite of featured solutions now include systems integration, network design and infrastructure; mobile and systems software development, cloud data centers, content digitization and distribution; encryption and digital security servers; and network equipment.

Book: ‘Searching for Heaven on Earth’ by David Jeremiah

Here is a book full of wisdom, on how to find the meaning of life. I would truly recommend this book to anyone who is trying to figure out the purpose in life.

“Searching for Heaven on Earth” by Dr. David Jeremiah offers valuable insights on wisdom and folly, on chance and purpose, and on life and meaning. This is an excellent gift for someone who is wondering his/her purpose in this world.

Emptiness, disappointment, longing…ever since Eden, wealth, power, pleasure—-even family and friends—-have been unable to fill the vacancy within each heart. Drawing wisdom from Ecclesiastes, Jeremiah will help you discover the “one thing” necessary for a rich and meaningful life. Gain assurance of who you are, who sent you, and why!

“Searching for Heaven on Earth” is a finalist of both the ECPA Gold Medallion Book Award and the Jordon Christian Book of the Year Award.

Back Cover Text:

Don’t you deserve a little happiness?

They are the questions that plague us:

Is happiness within my reach?
Why is life so frustrating?
Is it too late for me?

Or to put it another way, “Where can I find a little heaven on earth?”

History’s most successful man, Solomon, wondered just that! And as Dr. David Jeremiah shows us, he was a man who tested life’s haunting questions head-on. And tasted life’s riches full-on. And who found his answers in the last place he thought to look.

Listen, then, to his voice. A voice that, if you pay attention, will speak directly to your flesh and bones and heart. A voice that admits: Maybe happiness is an empty hope. Or maybe we’ve simply been looking in all the wrong places…

"Eat, Pray, Love" Beautiful Quotes

I love and remember  the movie "Eat, Pray Love" as ever. When I'm looking for beautiful quotes, I think of what I love quotes from that movie. I also read the book of Elizabeth Gilbert -  Eat, Pray, Love. I love many of the quotes, anecdotes, words of wisdom from Eat, Pray, Love that always encourage us to eat well, pray and love passionately.
 Here are some quotes:

“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.”

“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. “

“Look for God. Look for God like a man with his head on fire looks for water.”

“I’m here. I love you. I don’t care if you need to stay up crying all night long, I will stay with you. There’s nothing you can ever do to lose my love. I will protect you until you die, and after your death I will still protect you. I am stronger than Depression and I am braver than Loneliness and nothing will ever exhaust me.”

“You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That's the only thing you should be trying to control.”

“The love that moves the sun and the other stars.”

“To be fully seen by somebody, then, and be loved anyhow - this is a human offering that can border on miraculous.”

“In desperate love, we always invent the characters of our partners, demanding they be what we need of them, and then feeling devastated when they refuse to perform the role we created in the first place.”

“We’re miserable because we think that we are mere individuals, alone with our fears and flaws and resentment and mortality.”

“Your treasure – your perfection – is within you already. But to claim it, you must leave the busy commotion of the mind and abandon the desires of the ego and enter into the silence of the heart.”

“You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That’s the only thing you should be trying to control.”

“In a world of disorder and disaster and fraud, sometimes only beauty can be trusted. The appreciation of pleasure can be an anchor to one’s humanity.”

“God is an experience of supreme love.”

“Learning how to discipline your speech is a way of preventing your energies from spilling out of you through the rupture of your mouth, exhausting you and filling the world with words, words, words instead of serenity, peace and bliss.”

“There is a reason they call God a presence – because God is right here, right now. In the present is the only place to find Him, and now is the only time.”

Pogi Points: The Not-So-Gentleman’s Guide to Looking Good

I'm one of  the book lovers who's enjoying the wonderful world of an artist, graphics master and an observational comedian name Stanley Chi.  He's the co-host of TV5’s Front Act, creator of Manila Bulletin-based comic strip “Chopsticks," and the author of the Suplado Tips 1 & 2.

Just when you think you’ve read it all, a book like Pogi Points comes your way to burst your bubble. Soldiers of love, beware.

Stanley Chi , the genius behind the bestselling Suplado Tips series (read: over PhP2M worth of books sold in just one year) goes out of his comfort zone to write a “not-so-gentleman’s guide to looking good”, as the cover of his newest book, Pogi Points, announces brazenly.
Chi is out to prove he’s not a one-hit wonder after his first humor book, Suplado Tips, underwent reprinting five times in a year. The follow-up Suplado Tips 2 fared just as well, if not better, establishing Chi’s reputation as a legit writer who can sell books to people who don’t normally love reading.

Pogi Points is a collection of tips on how to get ahead in love through strategic behavior. It teaches the naïve boy how to act around his object of admiration (or obsession, whichever applies).

As Chi explains, “Ang pagiging gwapo, inborn; ang pagiging pogi, napag-aaralan (Being handsome is inborn; being pogi is something you can learn).”

Using humor to make his point, Chi teaches precious bits of courtship wisdom to guys who want to win over the girl of their dreams.

Readers aren’t the only ones who noticed Chi’s flair for writing. The Manila International Book Fair  the biggest book fair in the Philippines already in its 33rd year last September, made sure Chi was on board as one of their first-ever endorsers, dubbed “MIBF Bookworms”. During the book fair, Chi joined social activist Carlos Celdran  and fellow comedian-authors  Ramon Bautista  and Tado Jimenez  in an online video campaign to promote literacy.

“Kung dinaan mo sa personality ang isang babae, para mo naring sinabi na pangit ka (If you use your personality to win over a girl, it’s like saying you’re too ugly [to do it any other way])!”  - One Pogi Points pointer says.

Aside from tips on how to score more pogi points, the book contains photo comic strips, serious relationship facts, fun pogi trivia, and self-help lists. It’s a workbook of sorts for the love-struck guy who wants to have fun while decoding the woman he fancies.

Readers get a good dose of laughter from Pogi Points – and who knows? Maybe the single guys might even get a girlfriend.

Visit also Stanley Chi's IGMG,  surely you'll enjoy the wonderful world of Stanley Chi !

Helping Kids Be Super at Superkids 2012

Don’t miss two whole days of fun and learning at Superkids 2012.
In educating and raising little children, the effort it takes is anything but little. You have to prepare these young minds for the needs of an ever changing world. After all, the ages of 0-11 are a child’s formative years; the skills they’d learn during this crucial period would be the foundation of their knowledge base for life.

Helping equip educators and parents for this tough job is Superkids 2012, a two-day interactive conference on early childhood education set on September 14-15, Friday and Saturday, at Function Room 3, 3rd level of the SMX Convention Center as part of the 33rd Manila International Book Fair. Superkids has been a part of the country’s largest book fair and has been successful in gathering parents, teachers, school administrators, and people who work with young children to give them the latest information on educating young minds.
This year’s conference features noted author and educational consultant Dr. Thomas Armstrong from California as the main speaker. He will focus on topics such as “Exemplars of Best Schools (from Early Childhood to High School)” for his September 14 session and “The Power of Neurodiversity and Multiple Intelligences in the Classroom” for his September 15 session.  He will also conduct a book signing in his Saturday session.
