Regal tells a fresh 'Feb-Ibig' tale via "My Fairy Tail Love Story"

One of this 2018's best movies to watch out for  - the Regal's "MY FAIRY TAIL LOVE STORY"

This Valentine's Day, prepare to celebrate extraordinarily inside the cinemas as Regal Entertainment Inc. treats the lovers and the singles with a not-so-ordinary tale of love through its latest offering, "My Fairy Tail Love Story."

Topbilled by Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona, the film will take moviegoers to a journey under the sea as Janella's character, the pampered princess, Chantel was cursed to be a mermaid who could not speak but can only sing to air her thoughts.

Popularly known as the ElNella loveteam, Janella and Elmo's onscreen chemistry has been recognized by fans and critics since their team-up was launched in 2016 via primetime series "Born For You" on ABS-CBN. Since then, the two talentend showbiz progenies (Elmos is the son of the late OPM legend Francis Magalona; Janella is the daughter of actress-singer Jenine Desiderio) have been enjoying the limelight as one of their generation's hottest loveteams.

After several TV specials and blockbuster movies, ElNella is now ready to take a new project with an extraordinary story.

"Our movie will remind everyone how thoughts and wishes could be so powerful," said Janella. "Chantel's story will open our eyes not only to the beauty of the marine life but to the real beauty of our own lives and the people who love us unconditionally."

Elmo, meanwhile, shared his excitement on how the audience will react to their not-so-ordinary movie.

"While we join our characters in their quest to figure out how Chantel could be turned back to a human again, we will all surely be proud of this film that has just the right Disney feels that will make us remember all our happy feelings as a kid," said Elmo who plays Noah the bestfriend of Chantel.

On the other hand, another lead star of the movie, Kiko Estrada described "My Fairy Tail Love Story" as a brave Valentine's Day movie that will courageously go head to head with several international movies that will hit the cinemas on the same playdate as their movie.

"We believe that what will set us apart from the foreign films is our story, which is closest to the hearts of Pinoy viewers," said Kiko who plays Ethan, Chantel's crush. "We'll tackle family, friends and the challenges that ordinary Filipinos face. It's something that we can all connect to, especially to millennials like us who are still exploring life and finding out the real meaning of true love."

Movie Synopsis:
MY FAIRY TAIL LOVE STORY is a twist to the usual fairy tale romance. In our story, Chantel is a spoiled brat who did not heed warnings against disturbing a coral formation under the sea. Because of this, she wakes up discovering she has been turned into a mermaid. With the help of her best friend Noah, Chantel tries to break the curse, thinking that the answer lies in that most magical of solutions: true love’s kiss from a Prince Charming. Chantel pursues DJ Ethan, a self-proclaimed “Prince of Electronic Dance Music,” much to the chagrin of Noah. But even as Ethan and Chantel supposedly find love, and even as Noah finds the courage to profess his true feelings for Chantel, our cursed heroine soon discovers that love is not as simple as fairy tales make it out to be.

Directed by Perci Intalan, "My Fairy Tail Love Story" stars Janella Salvador as Chantel, Elmo Magalona as Noah and Kiko Estrada as Ethan. Also casts include Kiray Celis as Missy, Dimples Romana as Natasha, Dominic Ochoa as Robert, Kakai Bautista as Myrna, Rubi Rubi as Nana Gurang, Kaladkaren Davila as herself with Dino Pastrano

Experience a unique romantic tale of love this Valentine's Day by watching "My Fairy Tail Love Story" as it hits cinemas nationwide on February 14.

What are the ingredients for a great song? Warwick replies, "Lyrics first, as I must believe in the words I sing, and of course, a memorable melody."

For Bacharach, Warwick is "A woman who has a tremendously strong side and a delicacy when singing softly--- like miniature ships in bottles.”

Warwick received her first Grammy in 1968 for “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?” and her second in 1970 for “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again.”

Under Arista Records, Warwick won the Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “I’ll Never Love This Way Again” and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Déjà Vu” in 1980. She became the first female artist in the history of the Grammys to win in two categories on the same year.

In 1985, Warwick contributed her voice to the multi-Grammy winning song “We Are The World” which also spent four consecutive weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. On the same year, she recorded the American Foundation for AIDS Research benefit song “That’s What Friends Are For” with Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Gladys Knight.

In a career that spans five decades, Dionne Warwick’s melodic and soulful voice remains unmatched.

To Bacharach, David and the multitude of people she had the pleasure of working with, Warwick enthuses, "I am forever grateful."

To newcomers in the industry, her advice, "Be true to yourself and what you want...if you can think it, you can do it."

Less than Half of Filipinos are Fully Satisfied with the Valentine’s Day Gifts they Receive

In an online survey of over 300 respondents, only a third (36%) of Filipinos are really happy with their Valentine’s Day gifts. Less than half (46%) said that they were satisfied while 3% expressed absolute dissatisfaction.

The survey, conducted by Lazada (www.lazada.com.ph) , explored the processes and reasons for the lack of contentment over Valentine’s Day gifts.

Avoid Cliché’s but Never Forget the Essentials

Almost one in four respondents (23%) expressed that chocolates and couple’s shirts are cliché, but the most cliché gifts are picture frames with over 40% of people agreeing they are passé.

On the other hand, over 30% of respondents agree that flowers are a must have, beating out chocolates (19%), stuffed toys (9.6%). Surprisingly, more and more people (15%) see gadgets as an essential gift for the month of romance.

Ask and You Shall Receive

It seems surprise gifts are falling out of fashion as an overwhelming 86% of respondents prefer to express to their partners what they want. This transparency between couples extends to finding deals. 65% of respondents said they don’t mind sharing that they got their gifts on sale. The implicit learning is that if you get your partner the gift they want, it doesn’t matter if you got it on discount.

Digital Love

The survey also explored love in the digital space. Overtly expressing affection over social media or “Online PDA” seems acceptable with 52% of respondents saying they practice social media PDA themselves.

However, when it comes to meeting love interests online, half of the respondents had hesitations with online dating. 51% agreed with the statement: “Online shopping never hurt anyone, people do.” Talk about #hugot.

Love to Shop and Shop to Love

As our Valentine’s Day gifting habits evolve and improve, it is important for Filipinos to discover more convenient and cost effective ways to find the perfect gift. That’s why Lazada’s Valentine’s Day promo makes it the perfect place to get the gifts your partner wants in ways you can easily afford.

Celebrating Filipinos' love affair with the new Jollibee ads debut this Valentine’s Day

Real-life stories... making each memory more memorable.

Jollibee, the nation’s favorite fast food chain has its own fair share of life’s experiences and surprises. Capturing the country’s largest fast food chain’s enduring love affair with generations of Filipinos, Jollibee’s four new made-for-digital videos are now available for viewing online in time for Valentine’s Day celebration. To tug at viewers’ heartstrings are stories inspired by real-life experiences that all show how Jollibee has played a meaningful role in the lives of Pinoys.

Jollibee marketing and advertising people with the new TV ads cast and director during the media premier held at My Cinema in Greenbelt 3, February 12, 2016.

One of a very emotional moments I had last Friday, during the exclusive media premier held at My Cinema in Greenbelt 3, with the members of the press were treated to an advanced viewing of 4 heart warming “Mga Kuwentong Pilipinong pinasarap ng Jollibee” videos.

Francis E. Flores, Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer  said, “Every Pinoy can relate to the TV ads as they are based on real stories from our customers. They depict the everyday lives of Filipinos and how they express their love to their families, and the role that Jollibee plays in making each memory more memorable.”

Francis E. Flores, Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and event host Ginger Conejero.

The stories are told through the eyes of a real-life and long-time store manager, who through 22 years have seen more than her fair share of families bonding at Jollibee, which has served as a happy second home for most Filipinos. This is captured in the omnibus video which ties all the stories together.

The “ALMUSAL” video features an old couple who regularly gets breakfast at Jollibee, getting the same meals as part of their daily morning routine. The story takes a bitter sweet twist as the husband carries on the breakfast tradition with their daughter when the wife passes away.

The “TAGPUAN” video features a young boy who got lost in the mall and was found by his mom at Jollibee. The story capitalizes on accounts of real moms’ precautionary practice of telling their kids to go to the nearest Jollibee store if they get separated at the mall.

The “JABEE” TVC features a toddler who’s first word is “Jabee” (baby talk for ‘Jollibee’), and he utters this line all throughout the day, signifying his fondness for the brand. Emphasizing how Jollibee’s influence is strongest among kids at the "Jabee."

“It is really quite a challenge to be able to capture the different kinds of bonding moments that Filipino families have shared inside Jollibee stores throughout the years. Lucky for the team, we had a wealth of personal experiences to draw from, coming from real customers through the years who have made lasting memories in a Jollibee store. We, the cast and crew, hope that these Jollibee videos bring you on a journey to be closer with your families,” Ianco Dela Cruz, TVC Director, said.

Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and Head for Marketing of Jollibee Philipines, Mr. Francis Flores with the cast of Jollibee’s newest series of television commercials celebrating the Filipinos’ love affair airing this Valentine’s Day.

Edward Benosa To Guest In Lani Misalucha’s Concert this Valentine's Day

This Valentine’s Day—on February 14 and 15, 2016 singer and recording artist Edward Benosa gets the biggest break of his career when he guests in the show of Lani Misalucha.

Edward Benosa

The show is titled “Love Catcher” and will be held at Resorts World Manila’s Newport Performing Arts Theatre for the benefit of the Cancer Alleviation Network on Care, Education and Rehabilitation (CANCER). It is directed by Frank Lloyd Mamaril (who has also worked with and directed Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli in their respective concerts) and will also feature the female trio Baihana with the world-famous Philippine Madrigal Singers. Mamaril directed Edward’s music video for “Di Man Lang Nagpaalam” which was nominated as Music Video of the Year in the Star Awards for Music last year.

Edward will be performing two songs: his hit “Di Man Lang Nagpaalam” and another OPM number. He doesn’t have a duet with Lani, but the mere honor of sharing the same stage with her is already a major thing for an upcoming artist like Edward. For him to be included in the concert lineup is definitely a big break.

“Malaking bagay po talaga,” acknowledges Edward. “Wala akong duet with her, pero sobrang sarap ng feeling na I’ll be on the same stage as The Nightingale. Para sa akin, isa siya sa pinakamagaling na babaeng singer. I’m really honored na makapag-perform sa concert niya. Di ko na-expect na now, sa ganito ka-early na stage ng career ko, na makapag-perform ako sa ganito kalaking singer natin.”

Edward first met Lani, who’s a label-mate in Star Music, when they performed in a show featuring Star Music talents at 19 East. Lani, being the biggest star, was the finale number. Edward recalls how starstruck he was when he met her backstage, in the dressing room. He couldn’t even say anything. All he could manage was to ask to have a picture taken with her.

Edward recalls how that first meeting went. “Starstruck ako. Tulala. Wala akong nasabi,” he laughs. “Na-intimidate at na-overwhelm ako, na ang saya. Isa siya (Lani) sa mga tinitingala ko. Sobrang blessed ako na makita siya, ma-meet at ngayon makasama sa concert. Sa ginagalawan namin na mundo, sobrang na-a-appreciate namin na mga baguhan ang tinitingala namin na artists at ang work na ginagawa nila.”

Newcomers like himself automatically become better artists when they work with people like Lani, which is why he is looking forward to sharing the stage with her this February. In the future, he hopes they will get the chance to do a duet, but until then, he will take what he can get and continue to improve himself so that when that big break comes, he will be ready.

For now, you can catch more of Edward and his music by following him on social media, at facebook.com/realedwardbenosa, @realbenosa on Twitter and realbenosa on Instagram.

Need a wingman on Valentine’s Day? Takatack and PayMaya can get you the best gifts in town

With Valentine's Day just three weeks away, Filipinos may still not be sure of what to get for or how to spend that red letter day with their loved ones. Luckily for them,Voyager Innovations and PayMaya Philippines, the digital innovations units of PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), have the ultimate wingmen for them.

Shopping discovery platform Takatack and digital payments mobile app PayMaya can help Filipinos ace the two most challenging parts of this special day - gifts and dates.

Takatack has all the traditional gifts you may want to give your special someone, such as chocolates and sweets. And with over 400,000 products, the site should also be your go-to destination if you want to choose a more unique gift, such as a new camera for the budding photographer in your life or a baking set for your favorite chef.

Rebecca Ricalde, Assistant Vice President for Digital Commerce at Voyager Innovations, believes that the wide range of products at Takatack makes it the best place to choose your Valentine’s Day gift.

“Let’s face it: Gift-giving, especially on Valentine’s day, is not easy. With close to half a million products, Takatack makes this process easier by allowing you to find the perfect item, all just a click away,” said Ricalde.

Once you find the right gift, you can have it delivered directly to your special someone for a one-of-a-kind, doorstep surprise, which Ricalde feels is a nice touch for the occasion.

“Much of what makes Valentine’s Day exciting is anticipation. You look forward to February 14, knowing that you’ll be able to spend quality time with your special someone. Sending them a gift via Takatack communicates this excitement to them in a way that nothing else can. A gift says that you are thinking of them and are counting the hours until you can celebrate the holiday together,” she said.

Takatack also feels that romance doesn’t need to be expensive. Beginning February 1st and ending on the day of Valentine’s itself on February 14th, Takatack will offer a selection of special gifts from partner merchants that come with a discount. As these have all been curated by Takatack, customers will find it easier to choose a great gift for their special someone. Takatack will also offer several other promos. From February 1 to 12, a coupon code will allow users to get 500 pesos off a minimum purchase of 2000 pesos, so long as the items are fulfilled by Takatack. From February 1 - 5 and again from February 8 to 14, a coupon code will be revealed at 2:14 each day and expire at 2:14 the next day that will give new users a one-time 15% off discount for items fulfilled by Takatack for a maximum discount of 2000 pesos.

Once you’ve ordered the perfect gifts from Takatack, you still need to actually celebrate Valentine’s day on Sunday, February 14. Unfortunately, many of the one-of-a-kind experiences you would want to share with your special someone on that day may require a credit card, and fewer than 5% of Filipinos own one. What, then, is the hopeful lover supposed to do?

For them, there is PayMaya. Launched late last year, PayMaya is a free digital payments mobile app that gives you a unique card number so that you can pay online without a credit card.

Getting PayMaya is easy, fast, and FREE. To get your online payment details, all you need to do is download the PayMaya app, which is available on both the App Store and Google Store, and sign up with your mobile number. You are then issued a Visa card number, its expiration date, and a security code. PayMaya functions like a prepaid card - you can load it up at any 7-Eleven, SM Business Center or Robinson’s Business Center and then shop online or sign up to subscriptions wherever VISA is accepted.

In addition to serving as a free online payment app, PayMaya also offers a physical card that you can use to pay at brick-and-mortar stores wherever Visa is accepted.PayMaya is powered by VISA and is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to ensure all your transactions are secure.

You could, for example, take your Valentine’s Day date to watch a concert that you booked on TicketWorld, before ending the evening at your home, ordering delivery from foodpanda and watching a romantic comedy on recent Philippine arrival, Netflix.

Of course, you could splurge even further and choose to book seats on Philippine airlines and a stay at an exotic AirBNB in another city or country even, all courtesy of PayMaya. Now how’s that for a Valentine’s day to remember?
