Orange & Lemons to celebrate 25-year milestone with a major concert

Filipino pop-rock band Orange & Lemons are staging a one-night concert to commemorate their 25 years of unforgettable musical journey.
---------------------------------------------
The award-winning Filipino band will be performing a three-hour set featuring timeless and obscure songs from their critically-acclaimed, four-album catalog
---------------------------------------------
The hitmakers behind the generation-defining anthems “Hanggang Kailan,” “Heaven Knows (This Angel Has Flown)” and “Just A Splendid Love Song” will perform the greatest hits of their career in a three-hour concert happening at the Metrotent Convention Center in Pasig City on October 18, 2024, from 7 p.m. onwards.

Dubbed “Now & Then: Orange & Lemons 25th Anniversary Concert,” the special show serves as an important milestone for the four-piece band as they continue to grace the local music industry with captivating releases and memorable performances, albeit going through lineup changes through the years.

“Reaching this quarter-century milestone feels like a dream come true, and it’s a testament to the incredible community that surrounds us,” shares Clem Castro, the lead vocalist and guitarist of seminal alternative rock outfit, Orange & Lemons. “We normally play short sets on the big stage all over the country, leaving out most of our catalog in favor of more popular ones. For this concert, we want to bring to the big stage and perform live, if not all, a majority of songs from our past 4 albums. The albums that defined different eras of our career in the music industry from the beginnings—the shot to commercial success, the psychedelic, and the cultural eras. Expect us to perform and tell our story for over 3 hours!”

As an established indie act who continuously pushes their boundaries from a genuine artistic standpoint, O&L promises to deliver a true concert experience like no other. The Bulacan-based alternative rock outfit considers the full-length concert as a special gift to their legion of supporters, who have been with them through highs and lows, from their beginnings as struggling artists to their well-received reformation.

O&L explains this profound love and respect for their fans in a collective press statement:

“The music industry has seen a lot of changes, and being flexible and open to evolving with the times has helped us stay relevant. Our fans have been a cornerstone of our journey. Their support, enthusiasm, and feedback have inspired us to keep pushing boundaries and to stay true to ourselves. We’re always looking to grow and improve, whether it’s through honing our craft, exploring new musical avenues, or learning from our experiences. Building a genuine connection with our audience and staying true to our artistic vision has been key to our lasting presence. It also helped a lot to learn that we have to wear different hats, a business and a creative one that keeps us on check and balanced, staying focused on the bigger picture and not letting obstacles derail our journey. We intend to last as long as we can.”

"NOW AND THEN" 25th Anniversary Concert is produced by Orange & Lemons and Lilystars Records, in cooperation with GNN Entertainment Productions.

Tickets are available at https://orangeandlemons.helixpay.ph with the following tiers:

Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino celebrates 10 years with a series of shows across Metro Manila

Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) marks its highly anticipated celebration this year with a series of music events that aim to foster deeper awareness and appreciation for Pinoy music.

The week-long festivity, which takes place in various music venues and stages across Metro Manila from July 5 to 31, continues its commitment to promoting established and new homegrown music acts whose work has provided inspiration to the Filipino people or contributed to the advancement of the local economy and the arts.

“What makes LMP 2024 different from the previous celebrations is that it has a more ‘back-to-basics’ vibe and ‘keeping-it-simple’ feel,” Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) Board member and Vice President for Special Projects Christian Bautista explains. “The focus and emphasis are really on listening to and appreciating different artists sharing their music and their stories in intimate settings. Our LMP this year is not really focused on the spectacle but rather more on highlighting the artist and the song.”

This year’s LMP chronicles a decade of celebrating Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino in accordance with Proclamation No. 933, signed by late President Benigno Aquino III on December 19, 2014.

Returning on its tenth year with the goal of reintroducing its mandate to highlight Filipino singer and to showcase the richness and diversity of Filipino music, Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino aims to be more proactive in supporting Pinoy artists and ensuring that they are given a platform to present their work and their story to a global modern audience.

Johnoy Danao performing on LMP

The commemoration of LMP is slated to take place in several areas with multiple dates and will feature more than 30 artists from OPM’s roster and network of artists.

OPM Spotlight: LMP Night, which has championed some of the biggest and brightest local artists in recent years, will host performances and shows for the rest of the month at Kubo Bar in Kalayaan, Quezon City. Some of the headliners include Johnoy Danao, Sugarcane, jikamarie, Color It Red,, Mint Magic and many more from the OPM slate.

Other remote celebrations include OPM Spotlight: Rockwell LMP Series on July 24, 25, 26, and 28 at the Power Plant Mall in Makati City, and LMP24: PhilPop Night on July 31, 2024 at Kubo Bar. The latter puts a spotlight on select winners and participants from the prestigious annual songwriting competition, including Noah Alejandre, PhilPop 2020 Grand Champion; Davey Langit, PhilPop 2015 Top 3 Finalist and PhilPop 2013 Finalist; Kulas Basilonia, PhilPop 2020 Finalist; Hazel Faith, PhilPop North Luzon Boot Camp 2019 Fellow; and dwta, PhilPop 2021 DigiCamp Fellow. Ayala Land and Make It Makati will also be having a series of acoustic shows in partnership with OPM along with other activities related to the Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino celebration from July 21 to 28.

“Expect beautiful music and heartfelt performances from the artists,” Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) President Ogie Alcasid shares. “We hope that through this humble series of shows that we’re doing, the Filipino audience will continue to love and support Filipino artists and Filipino music even after LMP.”

OPM Officer in Charge Gab Cabangon emphasizes that the goal of this year’s LMP has never changed. “It’s always been about the celebration and promotion of Filipino artists and Filipino music. That has always been our advocacy, to which we are fully committed as an organization. I guess what we could add to that is that this LMP celebration is also OPM’s way to reintroduce itself to the general public and grow its community.”

The Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino was established under Proclamation No. 933, signed in 2014, with the initiative to celebrate Filipino music during the last week of July every year.

Here’s the schedule this year:

The Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino a.k.a. LMP24 is presented to you by the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Rockwell Land, PhilPop Musicfest Foundation, Inc., Ayala Land, Make It Makati, Ayala Malls, and Ayala Museum.

Special thanks as well to partner venues Kubo Bar Kalayaan and Beach House Bar & Grill Marikina

The thanksgiving event, which will feature acts by phenomenal Filipino music talents SB19, BINI, and Flow G, and a special performance by SunKissed Lola, celebrates Puregold's remarkable milestone of reaching 500 stores on its 25th year. Through “Nasa Atin ang Panalo,” Puregold expresses its gratitude to its loyal customers, dedicated employees, and supportive partners who have long played a role in the company's very own panalo story.

As can be gleaned from Puregold’s recent announcement on its social media pages, the star-studded “Nasa Atin ang Panalo” is set to be an unforgettable night of music, inspiration, and pure entertainment. This was affirmed by Puregold Price Club Inc. President Vincent Co who relates that from the get-go, they envisioned “Nasa Atin ang Panalo” to be more than just a concert.

“We want it to be a heartfelt tribute to Filipino stories of grit, courage, change, and success—panalo values that our concert artists possess and hope to inspire among their fellow Filipinos," Co says. “And we are excitedly presenting these top musicians not only to showcase their talent and spotlight local music, but to highlight the stories of SB19, BINI, Flow G, and SunKissed Lola as they pursue their dreams.”

Puregold shares why they have chosen to collaborate with these artists:

P-Pop idols SB19 weathered a roller-coaster journey, staying resilient to sustain their rise in the music industry.

BINI, the nation's girl group, sings about youthful romance, fun, and empowerment. The group continually evolves to tell its stories in the most profound ways.

Flow G, now one of the icons in Philippine rap, has hurdled numerous challenges but has remained steadfast in his pursuit of hip-hop, relentlessly moving forward toward his goals.

Well-loved band SunKissed Lola, united by their passion for creating music, has transformed their dreams into reality, achieving success through their unwavering love for their craft.

SB19, BINI, SunKissed Lola, Flow G & Puregold debut the ultimate OPM collaboration with the “Nasa Atin ang Panalo” music video

After weeks of building anticipation and dropping hints on their social media platforms, Puregold has finally unveiled the music video to the new song “Nasa Atin ang Panalo.”

Released this past May 25, the video is a must-watch for Pinoy pop fans. It serves as the ultimate collaboration of four of the country’s most sizzling musical acts: SB19, BINI, SunKissed Lola, and Flow G.

“These four artists are the powerhouse acts in Philippine music today. Collaborating with them is an excellent opportunity to reinforce Puregold's brand message,” said Vincent Co, President of Puregold Price Club, Inc. “Puregold proudly celebrates their achievements and is dedicated to continuously uplifting Filipino talent. And as we look forward to our 500th store milestone, it’s a privilege to have these artists produce a song that authentically represents our core values.”

The music video shows all four acts together singing and dancing along in a stylized Puregold store. They flaunt their diverse talents: harmonizing, dancing to exciting choreography, playing instrumental solos, or, in the case of Flow G, writing and rapping their own verses.

Beyond just the monumental feat of having all four mega acts in a single music video for the same song, “Nasa Atin ang Panalo” also celebrates the people of Puregold. Dancing alongside them and sharing the spotlight in the music video are the everyday shoppers and store staff that keep Puregold a running success from day to day. Puregold’s very own Aling Puring even makes an appearance to jam with the country’s biggest stars.

The song perfectly captures the “panalo” spirit that has defined Puregold’s long history in the retail business. Beyond that, it also speaks to the “panalo” stories of the artists involved in creating it. Each one has come into this project with their own stories of success.

SunKissed Lola’s relentless ascent in the industry affirms their commitment to turning dreams into reality. BINI’s growth and coming-of-age narrative serves as a reminder of the profound value of transformation and evolution over time. Flow G’s unwavering determination in the face of constant obstacles demonstrates his resilience and resolve to forge ahead. SB19’s journey, filled with triumphs and trials, is a powerful example of the ability to bounce back and confront each new day.

The collaborative song combines all of these elements in a single that can be enjoyed online now and soon on streaming platforms like Spotify.

Excitingly for Pinoy pop fans, there’s even more looming on the horizon. All four artists have already teased solo tracks that will soon drop with Puregold in the forthcoming weeks. Each new original song will dive further into the artists’ individual qualities that have allowed them to reach their “always panalo” dreams. Fans are encouraged to keep a close eye on Puregold’s social media accounts for further developments.

Rico Blanco continues winning streak with the release of his new single “Sayong sayo (Papel, Gunting, Bato)

After receiving the prestigious Dangal Ng Musikang Pilipino at the 36th Awit Awards for his enormous contribution to the Philippine music scene and re-releasing You’ll Be Safe Here on streaming platforms for the very first time, Filipino alternative rock icon Rico Blanco continues to make headlines with the release of his new single,Sayong sayo (Papel, Gunting, Bato),” via Sony Music Entertainment.

---------------------------------------------------

The prolific hitmaker solidifies his place as one of the country’s greats with another pop-rock gem

----------------------------------------------------

On “Sayong sayo (Papel, Gunting, Bato),” the prolific songsmith displays a mastery of the ‘love song’ genre with simplicity and finesse, evoking the feeling of winning the lottery after several tries in life and love.

“The chorus hook came to me first, and I immediately felt it would be a really fun song to play live or at a party,” Rico Blanco shares. “I kept imagining everyone dancing and singing along. A fun party song.”

Recorded at the Balcony Studio with the legendary Angee Rozul, the upbeat pop-rock ditty shows a sonic maverick still in his prime, tapping into new ideas with a sophisticated sheen. The track also marks the first time that the OPM veteran jammed and recorded a track face-to-face with fellow musicians since the pandemic, which includes accomplished and critically acclaimed producers/singer-songwriters Zild Benitez on bass and Tim Marquez on drums.

Ang saya at sobrang bilis lang parang naglalaro lang kaming apat sa studio (it felt like we’re just playing around and having fun in the studio),” the multi-awarded artist explains.
Iba pa rin talaga mag-record ng magkakasama sa isang kwarto (There’s nothing like recording together in a room).

“Sayong sayo (Papel, Gunting, Bato)” serves as the follow-up single to last year’s “Palibot-libot,” an introspective synth-pop tune that reflects on the uncertainty of one-sided love. It will be part of a new album to be released sometime in 2024.

Aside from plans of releasing a brand-new record next year, Rico Blanco will be joining Bamboo Manalac, Mark Escueta and Nathan Azarcon for the Rivermaya: The Reunion concert, happening on February 17, 2024 at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Pasay City. Tickets to the highly anticipated show will be available on November 17, 2023 via SM Tickets website and outlets nationwide.

Rico Blanco’s “Sayong sayo (Papel, Gunting, Bato)” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

“It’s as if my heart knows you’re the missing piece” — perhaps is one of the most amorous lines in “The Way You Look At Me”. But what if that missing piece isn’t going to be found or will never return again?

The music video for the song unfolds a story of a guy (played by David) who was asked to try a dating app so he can get over his lost love.

There is something that makes him like this girl (played by Barbie) instantly and he cannot explain it. Maybe her looks are just “his type”? But there’s something more to unravel from there. Eventually, an intense twist will be revealed towards the end of the music video, so fans really have to watch it from start to finish.

Also starring in this short cinematic visual is Kapuso star Shuvee Etrata, best known on TikTok as @smilingshuvee with over 2.2 million followers.

The official music video will be released later this month and its official teaser poster has been revealed today on social media. It quickly became a top trending topic because of the very supportive BarDa fans and “Investors” (Barbie and David’s fandom) on Twitter.

Right now, Ben&Ben’s cover of “The Way You Look At Me” has over 1.6 million streams on Spotify. It will be part of Christian Bautista's 20th anniversary tribute album which will come out very soon!

Gloc-9 Has A New Propelling Single “Di Umiinom” Featuring Hero

Our Paboritong Makata moves along his lyrical journey with what will be his Pilak album, a musical celebration to mark his 25 illustrious years in the Philippine music industry.
Before the month of August ends, Gloc-9 unveils "Di Umiinom", the 5th single for this upcoming anniversary album and this time around, he shares limelight with Hero, another young buck in the Asintada Management's stable of talents.

Sometimes when someone gets badly hurt and reaches their breaking point, they tend to perform deeds that they don’t usually do, or haven’t done before. Perhaps that act is a coping mechanism to escape all the pain and sadness that they feel. That’s how the song “Di Umiinom” was formulated by the veteran rapper.

In this special track, he taps the rising hip-hop star Hero to further elevate the overall vibe with his technical bars and carefully honed rhymes. Their tandem’s verses are captivating, intoxicating, infused with gloom as they address the sad and painful story with utmost conviction. Truly, the theme of this song is something fresh and something that the one and only Makata Sa Pinas haven’t attempted in the past, a reason he is very much excited for this release. Moreover, Thyro Alfaro once again delivered the goods and provided awesome mixing and arrangement.

This special release comes alongside a vibrant music video directed and edited by Aaron Maagma. (WATCH HERE)

Since Gloc-9 embarked on a US tour for the OPM Summerfest events there along with other iconic local acts, he was no longer able to film his parts here in the Philippines. However, because of the sheer dedication to his craft, our Paboritong Makata found a way to deliver his parts for the music video, special thanks to Mark Escueta, who's band Rivermaya was in the concert series with him. They shot it during the New York leg of the tour using his trusty Samsung S22+ or in his own words “Para-paraan lang talaga.” On the other hand, Hero's parts were filmed at Tipsy Pig in Quezon City.

This is the third collaboration between the Gloc-9 and Hero, with the previous two garnering more than 1.2 million in YouTube viewership. "Di Umiinom" is now streaming on all digital platforms under Universal Records.
