Philippine pop diva set to wow Doha crowd

Philippine pop diva set to wow Doha crowd

DOHA: Filipina international singing sensation Charice Pempengco is all set to stage her first ever concert here on September 29.
The two-hour concert which will be held at the Warm-Up Track next to Khalifa Stadium in Aspire Zone is expected to draw thousands of fans following Charice’s exciting singing career in Hollywood.
Golden Relations, the event company behind the successful events such as WWE and shows of Filipino comedians Kay Brosas and Vice Ganda, is again hosting the concert for the multi-awarded recording artist and “Glee” star.
“Since announcing the event early last month we have been flooded with enquiries via Facebook and on Twitter for more information regarding the show,” said Bilal Taha, CEO of Golden Relations.
Taha said it took them time to announce the venue since they have worked out for a bigger place that can accommodate at least 15,000 people.
“We are expecting a big turnout of crowd to the event since Charice’s followers are not only Filipinos but other nationalities as well,” Taha said.
More popularly known as Charice, the Filipino performer is currently among America’s singing sensations. She is widely-recognised for her smash-hit songs such as ‘Pyramid’, which featured singer Iyaz, and ‘Before It Explodes’ written by Bruno Mars.
Charice grabbed the limelight through YouTube, where US comedienne Ellen DeGeneres discovered her and later extended an invitation for the singer to be in her show. Charice’s appearance in DeGeneres’ programme later caught the attention of Oprah Winfrey. Her appearance in Winfrey’s show even more heightened her popularity in the US especially after the multi-award winning TV host and producer called her “the most talented girl in the world.”
Charice has also performed side-by-side with the biggest names in the international music scene such as Celine Dion, David Foster and David Archuleta.
She was also a cast in Season 2 of “Glee” as Sunshine Corazon, an exchange student from the Philippines who presents a serious competition against lead character Rachel Berry played by Lea Michele. Her TV role further enhanced her international popularity.
Tickets at QR150 and QR350 are available at all Regency Travel & Tour outlets across Qatar or online at underwww.tasaker.com.

ANDREA OF THE CORRS LIVE IN MANILA “ THE LIFELINES TOUR”

Coming from a 4 year hiatus, Andrea Corr of The Corrs is back on stage once again with the same angelic voice and irish accent but a more personal and sensitive take on her music as she includes the Philippines in her world tour to share her new creations from her album Lifelines. Andrea of The Corrs will set foot in the Philippines for a two night

The concert is produced by Dayly Entertainment (Yellowcard, The Script, All Time Low and Westlife) and new concert producer Karpos Multimedia by arrangement with foreign companies Rockstar Touring, LAMC Productions and Solo.

Andrea is the lead vocals and tin whistler of The Corrs who previously consisted of a quartet of siblings Sharon (violin, vocals); Caroline (drums, piano, bodhrán, vocals); and Jim (guitar, piano, vocals). The group came to international fame with their performance at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, and their support of Celine Dion on her 1996 Falling into You Tour. With a line of the greatest and most memorable hits, “What Can I Do”, “Runaway”, “Breathless”, “So Young”, “Radio”, “Forgiven Not Forgotten” and many more, the group have released five studio albums, live DVD’s and numerous singles, which have reached platinum status in many countries and ended up as anthems for everyday occasions such as weddings and the likes.
While her siblings concentrated more on family building than hit making, Andrea pursued a solo career in music. It was in 2007′s debut Ten Feet High that provided Andrea with her first venture into solo stardom and a project away from a band that she had been emerged so deeply within for over ten years. Andrea was given the platform and the chance to do things on her own.
This year, May 2011, Andrea Corr released her second studio album Lifelines with the lead single “Tinsletown in the Rain”. The album also consists of song covers from the artists The Velvet Underground, Kirsty MacColl, Harry Nilsson to Ron Sexsmith, Nick Drake and The Blue Nile. I am blessed… Thanks God !

I’m alive and kicking
Have time for simple things
Going to simple places …
Reading many news, researches
Having a wide variety of interests

Enjoying again my Facebook
FB friends, status, comments
News, and latest updates
With  new FB friends
And beautiful pictures .. and some  games ….

Been six months
That was February 19
A near death experience
Without perception  event
Much to everyone too , a surprise

An uncertain in my head
An uncertain in my brain
Never been aware of it
Never felt before
Never been weak, never …

Only a headache
was asleep then
maybe I died  in a minute
or died for six hours
That was ruptured
That was clipped

Blessed me with gifted doctors,
With Loving family
and supporting people
Blessed me with God
God’s always holding me…
Woke me up again …

Now inside my mind
Compexity of truth
Memories and thoughts
Never complains, tears have gone
now just smiles :)
Thoughts and prayers …

But six months , a history
Now the present , and future
Looks like a mystery
But life goes on
So I just wait and see

I’m enjoying living , uplifting
always happiness, positive…
Keeping in touch, sharing
Smiling , laughing, singing
Loving life… feeling deeply alive

God is always here
Always strengthen my heart
More blessings
I Dream, I hope, have faith
Motivations, inspirations
Always Thanksgiving

I am blessed… Thanks God !
God loves me, and
I love God!
Everyday is the best time of my life!

Noli Me Tangere: The Musical - Great Theater Production

Excitedly  I watched  Noli Me Tangere: The Musical
,  premiere night  August 5 at 8:00 evening at the
Little Theater, Cultural Center
of the Philippines. Pop chanteuse Cris Villonco plays the role of the sweet Maria Clara. She's amazingly acting and singing with a very powerful voice ! As Crisostomo Ibarra, Gian Magdangal is really great!  Their voice and rendition of the scenes were stunning! The cast  really did a great job!  The fantastic production earned a standing ovation !

This is super produced , artistically made and great directed.  Noli Me Tangere: The Musical is adapted for the stage by National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera and well known composer / arranger  Ryan Cayabyab.    This is restaged under the direction of theater luminary Audie Gemora. Glad to remember that Director Audie been played as Crisostomo Ibarra in that Noli Me Tangere version in year 1994.

Costume design is by National Artist Salvador Bernal. Agnes Locsin , for choreography, and Rody Vera , the dramaturgy. TP artisitic director is known tv actor Fernando Josef.

The powerhouse cast of Noli Me Tangere: The Musical are talented singers and stage actors and actresses.
Maria Clara  play by sweet Cris Villonco. As Crisostomo Ibarra, playing alternately are Mark Bautista and Gian Magdangal.  Theater veteran and well-renowned actor, Bodjie Pascua, plays the ill-famed cura paroko , Padre Damaso. Versatile thespian Al Gatmaitan stands equally apt as Padre Salvi.

Riki Benedicto of the TP Actors Company plays the feisty Elias, alternated by the likewise vigorous Jerald Napoles. Jonathan Tadioan and Garry Lim ,both distinguished members of the TP Actors Company share the role of Don Tiburcio. Red Nuestro ardently takes on Maria Clara’s father, Kapitan Tiago.  Highly-versatile stage actress, Ring Antonio plays the boisterous, animated Donya Victorina; as the very talented Jenny Villegas plays Tia Isabel. And who else could play the role of Sisa better than multi-awarded and intense performer, Angeli Bayani! AC veteran member  Paolo Rodriguez  plays as the Leproso. The powerful chorus is composed of  talented  singers-actors: Jenny Garcia, Janine Santos, Sherine Coa, Rayna Reyes, Hazel Maranan, Diana Sison, Martha Comia, Kathlyn Castillo, Erick Arsenas, Gino Ramirez, Chesko Rodriguez, Jelson Bay, Berl Angeles, Baron Barbers, and Honorio Magat.
