Singlife’s Cash for Income Loss, a must have for every breadwinner

  • Need to protect yourself and your loved ones from possible income loss?
  • Singlife’s Cash for Income Loss has you covered, FREE P100k accidents cover for 3 months

Manila, Philippines – Your salary empowers you to pay for housing, food and all the niceties in life for yourself and your loved ones. Money makes the world go round, as they say. But does your family’s world stop when disability, or even death, strike, and the salary you’ve gotten used to is no longer being paid?

Most homes have one or two breadwinners, those that bring in the money to live the life you have been living. And as most of us experience, adjusting your spending when the money coming in increases goes without a problem. Having that special lunch in your favorite place every week, sending the kids to a more expensive school, or buying that extra pair of shoes makes living life more enjoyable.

It is another story when the money that is available for spending decreases, as the salary we were used to is no longer something we can count on. Disability and even death are realities, and after just coming from a pandemic we all know very well that bad luck can happen to anyone.

Apart from the unfortunate direct effects, it all becomes a lot worse if there is also a significant financial impact. Just imagine being disabled and having to move out of the house as you can’t afford it anymore, and sending your kids to a new public school, and struggling to even get enough money for food on the table so that the kids grow up healthy.

Of course, chances are that you will never experience this, and we certainly wish you the best, but how much better would it feel if you could be prepared?

How to protect yourself and your family from income loss?

Singlife Philippines, a mobile-first savings and protection company, believes that every Juan and Maria must be able to ensure that there is money when needed; and a disability or death is one of those unfortunate events when you need someone to have your back.

Singlife’s Cash for Income Loss is the perfect product for this and for around only Php 280 per month, you can already ensure that you or your loved ones will receive a replacement income of Php 30,000 per month for 3 full years. “We offer the middle-income class in the Philippines solutions that have been exclusively available to the top 10% in the past. Protection for income loss is however especially valuable to normal people. People that work hard every day to provide their families a good life and have the aspiration for a better future for their kids and themselves”, says Rien Hermans, Singlife’s CEO. “Our products support them to be financially protected, whatever happens, and we do that without breaking their budget.”

4 Reasons Why LG REF is our #NAENGJANGGOALS

Summer is finally here and coming along with it is intense heat. One of the most important appliances to have during the season is a refrigerator that helps you cool off, stay hydrated, and keep your food fresh. But due to the intense heat nowadays, some refrigerators struggle, and you’re left wanting for something better. Make the switch to make life good just in time for Summer.

LG refrigerators present the best combination of technology, efficiency, and energy savings. We’ve outlined below 4 reasons why LG refs should be your #Naengjanggoals (naeng-jang-go is Korean for refrigerator).

1. Door Cooling + - LG refrigerators have a door cooling function that quickly cools items placed in the door section. This works through air vents located at the front of the fridge, directing cool air onto food items stored in the area. This feature starts 15 seconds after you close the door.

2. Inverter Technology = Savings - LG’s inverter technology maximizes your savings with its energy efficiency. The refrigerator’s Inverter Compressor provides up to 32% in energy savings, top-rate 20-year durability, and optimal temperature control to keep foods fresher longer. Aside from stretching your budget, the inverter also helps maintain the appearance and taste of fresh products for longer by reducing temperature fluctuations.

3. 10 Year Warranty 2yrs parts and service - Your investment is safe with LG refrigerators. Its Inverter Linear Compressor has a 10 Year Parts Warranty to give you peace of mind. With less vibration, moving parts, and noise than a conventional LG compressor system, the LG Inverter Linear Compressor is quieter and more durable. As the Inverter Linear Compressor is the heart of your refrigerator we back this with a 10-year parts warranty on the compressor.

4. Capacity Options - With refrigerators, space is the name of the game. You want to be able to place a large amount of items inside, whether you’re living solo or have an extended family. You have plenty of models to choose from. There are Door-in-door, Instaview, side by side, bottom freezer, top mount, and single door options. Pick one that’s suitable for your lifestyle!

Want one for yourself? Now’s your chance. Manifest #refgoals and get your dream LG refrigerator for free! You can go to https://lgpromoregistration.ph/ and join a special raffle. The mechanics are simple. Fill out the required information and upload a photo of your selfie with your dream refrigerator from LG with an explanation of why you deserve to win. Participants are entitled to one raffle entry per registration. For additional entries, customers can post their photos on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtags #Naengjanggoals and #LGRefGoals to increase the chances of winning. Shopee launches Career Jumpstart Series to help accelerate tech careers of students, young Filipinos

A curation of virtual open houses designed to equip young tech leaders with career-building skills

By 2025, the Philippine internet economy is expected to grow by 30% annually to reach USD28 billion . In order to sustain such sizable growth, developing young, tech-driven talents will be key. In fact, the DTI has recognized the increasing need to upskill and reskill Philippine talent as one of the main priorities for the 2022 Philippine E-commerce Roadmap. As a means to support the digital economy boom, this April 2022, Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, is launching its first-ever Career Jumpstart Series, a curation of virtual open houses designed to train young tech leaders with career-building skills.

The Shopee Career Jumpstart Series aims to equip leaders of tomorrow with the necessary skills to find success in the tech industry’s workplace setting. The open house learning series will be spaced out across three seminars scheduled on April 5, 7 and 9. Penultimate and graduating students, as well as young professionals with less than two years of work experience, are invited to join this event.

Each seminar will be held virtually and focuses on relevant career-building topics such as effective resume writing, essential interview skills and case interview mastery. This presents the perfect opportunity for students and budding professionals to polish their skillsets before immersing themselves in a tech company setting.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said “We are committed to developing young talent - from the initial interview stage, all the way up to securing a job and furthering one’s career. Through the Shopee Career Jumpstart Series, we believe that we can not only help young talent fulfill their potential, but also help contribute to the Philippines’ growing digital economy. We look forward to creating even more opportunities to hone the skills of young Filipinos and support local digital growth.”

Apart from the Career Jumpstart Series, Shopee also offers other programs and initiatives centered on polishing the skills of young talent. Shopee’s Global Leaders Program, for example, is a 2-year graduate program consisting of four 6-month local and overseas rotations that is open to final-year students or young professionals with up to two years of working experience. On the other hand, the Shopee Apprentice Program is an internship program designed to expose interns to the e-commerce and digital finance industry and allow them to participate in the different end-to-end processes of large-scale projects and initiatives.

Registration for the Career Jumpstart Series will be open to all interested individuals. Registrants are not required to be applicants of Shopee’s other key talent programs such as the Shopee Apprentice Program or the Global Leaders Program.

Those interested in learning how to stand out among other applicants may apply for the Shopee Career Jumpstart Series here: https://shp.ee/yz3c5n3.

#BreakTheBias: Teleperformance Philippines shares tips for empowered women to break gender stereotypes in International Women’s Day

Teleperformance Philippines (TP) hosted its #BreakTheBias Digital Forum as part of its celebration to support International Women’s Day. Organized by TP Women, this event highlighted the importance of bringing light to the fight for women, identifying individuals for equality, and breaking stereotypes and reducing discrimination to create a gender-equal world.

Other topics include a conversation on gender bias and discrimination and how everyone can take a part in breaking the bias in the workplace. The event culminated in the participants taking a pledge to be advocates for gender equality.

Marilyn Ventenilla, Senior Director for Communications and Marketing and TP Women Philippines Chair, gave a message of encouragement during the event. “This also makes their journey at TP Women much more thrilling. As a catalyst, we're driving positive change and its members of the Teleperformance global community, we will pursue increased opportunities to support the human potential regardless of age, gender orientation, and ethnicity.”

TP Women, which was launched in 2019, is a Teleperformance effort committed to celebrating the accomplishments of women in the industry while also providing a network and support system for women.

The event was live-streamed at the Teleperformance Philippine Facebook Page and was hosted by Ceej Tantengco. Feature panelists included Program Manager of the Philippine Business Coalition for Women's Empowerment (PBCWE) Amor Curaming, Lunas Collective founder and Assistant Professor of the University of the Philippines Diliman's Department of Women and Gender Studies Sabrina "Inna" Gacad, Kreations Upcycled Furniture founder Akrisah Helig, multi-award-winning actress, comedian, and advocate for diversity Candy Pangilinan, and lastly, Director of Operations for Teleperformance's Telco group Nina Abad.

To further help women in breaking barriers both in home and workplace, panels in the TP Women forum offered us these tips:

Speak out, don’t drop out

To encourage women to continue pursuing their talent even after giving birth, they need to communicate with the terms that they want. “For the women they just have to communicate,” advised Amor Curaming. “They don't need to drop out, they can speak out and say they can do flexi work, or can I take a sabbatical for now, but I'll be returning. So, you know it's really a matter of communicating,” she expressed.

Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable

When it comes to self-care and finding freedom, Inna Gacad, expressed how women deprioritized their physical and mental health during the lockdown. However, she believes women also took on the challenge of providing care and assistance to volunteer for organizations that helped them support one another, “Yes, women were vulnerable, not only women rose to power, and it was possible because of community,” she said.

Build a supportive network

“It is often a misconception that women cannot be in leadership roles because we tend to be more emotional,” shared Nina Abad. She described how women struggle with the misconception of how they cannot take charge of leadership roles. “Sometimes it doesn't work that way. We need to ensure that a wider audience knows who you are, how you are performing, and what you are contributing in a broader sense. You have to talk about your accomplishments kept out there within your organization and the industry and build a supportive network,” Abad added.

Be an empowered woman

Akre Helig was asked on how to deal with people who think of themselves as “i’m only a woman”, she answered, “We should always remind them that we’re not a just a woman, but you are an empowered woman with creativity and have the capacity to create something beautiful and wonderful regardless of your gender.”

Women continue to face barriers and social discrimination that hinder them from achieving leadership positions in their fields. Currently ranked at number 17, the Philippines is the only Southeast Asian country to be included in the Top 20 list in the Global Gender Gap Report 2021. However, according to the Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) December 2021 Labor Force Survey Report, men make up 76% of the labor force participation rate, while women make up 54%. This indicates that, because the gap is still wide, we must address our stereotypes in our society such as supporting women to be engaged in the workforce even after childbearing.

“Teleperformance will continue its mission as evangelists for achieving and sustaining equality within Teleperformance and beyond, so let's continue to join the movement to break the bias because collectively we know that we can break the bias in our communities, we can break the bias in our workplaces, we can break the bias in our schools, colleges and universities,” said Ventenilla.

Those who want to get more insights on women breaking gender bias can check out this link to the event on the Teleperformance Philippines Facebook page. To know more about Teleperformance Philippines, visit their website at www.teleperformance.com.

YES TO CHURRASCO, PLEASE! Century Park Hotel Levels Up the Buffet Dining Experience

With the IATF Alert Level easing up in Metro Manila, hotel and restaurant buffets have been making a comeback. While some customers may have second thoughts about dining-in, an establishment’s safety protocols and DOT Safety Seal in place are enough assurances for guests that they can dine safely and dine well. Indeed, foodies are raring to conquer the restaurant scene again.

Century Park Hotel, one of the finest hotels in Manila, has always been known for its lunch and dinner buffets. Its generous array of appetizers, mains, and desserts are sought-after. Each day of the week showcased a specific theme: Filipino, Western and Chinese to name a few. Prior to the pandemic, its Seafood and Prime Rib Buffet was gaining steam. Things took a standstill when the lockdown was imposed and outlet operations were put on hold. This did not deter the hotel from rising to the occasion and prepared instead for a remarkable comeback.

“The challenge was not just to bring back our popular buffet but to create a better and more pleasant dining experience. The pandemic has been an opportunity for us to reassess what we have and introduce a mix of the tried & tested together with a new concept to our buffet offering,” said Anthony Tan, Century Park Hotel’s General Manager.

Head out to Century Park Hotel and be sure to try the Lunch and Dinner Churrasco Buffet.

Due to insistent demand, what was initially a 2-day run per week (lunch only) is now a regular 3-day operation (Wednesday to Friday) and now serves Lunch (11:00 AM – 2:30 PM) AND Dinner (6:00 PM – 10:00 PM) as well.

“The high turnout of our reservations, as well as walk-in volume, prompted us to increase our operational times. Guests have been clamoring for our buffet for quite some time now and we are truly happy with the feedback,” added Mr. Tan.

Priced at P1,200 net per head, one can enjoy a wide selection of meats (beef, chicken, pork and sausages), an assortment of dishes (ratatouille, pasta, salmon, etc.) and an array of delectable desserts (pastries, iced desserts and more). The meats are smoked and charcoal-grilled to perfection to produce more delicious flavors.

What makes churrasco special? Also known as Brazilian barbecue, 19th century horseback riders or gauchos who lived in rural areas had easy access to cattle. They would roast the beef on skewers over an open fire which brought out the natural flavor of the mouthwatering meat.

Churrasco is traditionally enjoyed with a big number of people, gauchos would go around the tables where their friends and family are gathered, serving unlimited slabs of beef from the skewers. This style of serving is called rodizio.

Nowadays, restaurant staff continuously go around the tables with their skewers and serve the diners when they see the green marker which means the guest wants more servings. Once the marker is flipped on the red side, this is an indicator that the guest has already had his/her fill. A variety of sauces like chimichurri, peri-peri and salsa verde together with side dishes help enhance the taste of the meats.

“At Century Park Hotel, guests can have their meats served ala-rodizio. Other dishes are placed on the buffet spread where diners are free to help themselves. This is what makes our Churrasco Buffet one-of-a-kind,” emphasized Mr. Tan.

Experience the Churrasco Buffet firsthand at Café in the Park. The first 10 reservations will get a P200 off. Call 0917-6332497 now to make your reservation.

Century Park Hotel has been duly awarded the Safety Seal Certification and Certificate of Accommodation to Operate as Staycation (CAOS) by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ). One can look forward to a safe and pleasant dining atmosphere while inside the property.

Guests 18 and up must be fully vaccinated and present their vaccination cards, minors are allowed entry provided they are accompanied by a fully-vaccinated adult.

Launched in 1976, the Century Park Hotel remains as one of the finest hotels in Manila. It is owned and operated by Maranaw Hotels and Resort Corporation and enjoys a mix of local and international patrons. The renowned establishment has over 500 rooms in varied types and facilities for a complete dining and leisure experience.
