The Adventurers' Backpack Lifestyle

Living life to the fullest. Almost all people love to do travel, explore and have an adventure. I really love travelling... going to the places as we enjoy life, meeting new people, experiencing other culture, not just having adventure but also seeing the beauty of nature...enjoying the wonderful world!

Anywhere we go from one place to another, travel for pleasure, or for work. Travel by foot, car, bicycle, train, boat, airplane, or other means, we need to pick a backpack that fits our dimensions and is of good quality. Up in the mountains, they hold a compass, a couple of energy bars, a flashlight, and a hydration pack, among many others. On the beach, they carry a change of clothes, a sarong, and some sunscreen. In school, they’re filled with children’s books and notebooks, artworks and pencils, and maybe even a pack of popcorn. We are talking about backpacks, of course.

In its most of basic of forms, a backpack is but a sack carried on one’s back, secured by shoulder straps.
Deuter Concept Store opens at the 2nd level of SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City, August 7, 2014.
For Deuter, one of the most trusted brands in the world of outdoor sports, the backpack is a passport to great adventures. It is no wonder then that the backpack has become a veritable must-have not only for professional athletes and weekend outdoorsmen, but for urban warriors as well.

Deuter, founded in 1898,  has been pioneering premium outdoor equipment for over 115 years. It first made its mark by providing the Bavarian Royal Mail with mailbags and post sacks. Eventually, the company developed backpacks, knapsacks, satchels, and tents, primarily for the German military.

The call of the great outdoors proved to be too tempting to resist, and soon, Deuter was outfitting pioneering mountaineering expeditions with backpacks and tents, putting their manufacturing skills and expertise to the test. In 1938, German mountain climber Anderl Heckmair brought along a Deuter backpack when he led the first successful ascent of the North Face of the Eiger. Fifteen years later, Deuter was with Austrian mountaineer Hermann Buhl and his crew when they conquered Nanga Parbat in Pakistan, the ninth highest mountain in the world.

That Deuter’s history is closely intertwined with that of modern mountaineering is no surprise as the company has consistently worked with the sporting world’s best in order to develop revolutionary systems and innovative products.

Deuter provides the best fitting backpack for virtually all types of outdoor adventure, from hiking, biking, and trekking to mountain climbing and skiing. It also makes a wide selection of highly functional, top quality outdoor products from bags and sleeping bags to bike accessories and hydration systems.

For families who like going on weekend hikes and camping under the stars, Deuter has developed kiddie-sized sleeping bags and child carriers with ventilated back systems. For city dwellers who have to traverse the urban jungle every day, Deuter offers a line of satchels, laptop bags, and duffel bags.

By heart of Deuter with its unwavering passion for the great outdoors. This is evident in each and every one of its products, which have been engineered to perform well outdoors and withstand the changing moods of nature, giving its wearer more than ample support.

At the Deuter concept store located at the SM Mall of Asia, its amazingly functional designs are on full display.

Leading the pack is Deuter's world-renowned AirComfort System. By creating a space between the pack and the wearer's back, this revolutionary mesh back system reduces perspiration by 25 percent.

With its three-way ventilation, Deuter’s AirComfort System decreases the wearer’s average heart rate and load on the cardiovascular system, increasing his level of endurance.

Carrying fully-loaded packs all day long wouldn’t seem such a burden with Deuter’s AirComfort System.

With groundbreaking innovations such as this, Deuter makes exploring the world a fun and fulfilling pursuit!

Have your adventure, enjoy the wonderful world with Deuter backpack!

David Blaine ‘Real or Magic’ LIVE in Manila, September 12

Ovation Productions presents David Blaine ‘Real or Magic’ LIVE in Manila, September 12, 2014, 8:00pm at Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City.

One of the world's best magicians of all time. He is best known for his high-profile feats of endurance, and has made his name as a performer of street and close-up magic. Now he's coming to Manila for one-night-only show as part of his Asia Tour on September 2014.

Is he for real? Or is he a con job? Filipinos can decide for themselves when the world’s most intriguing magician hits Manila for a one-night-only live show.Magician David Blaine, who has been wowing and spooking audiences worldwide with his trailblazing brand of magic for almost two decades, is set to cast a spell on Philippine audiences in a 90-minute live show on September 12 at the Araneta Coliseum, according to promoter Renen de Guia of Ovation Productions.

This is not an entirely new venture into the world of magic by Ovation Productions, having promoted another very popular magician also by the name of David in Manila in 1989, David Copperfield!

Dubbed Real or Magic, Blaine’s first ever show in the Philippines will feature a slew of tricks that have blown the minds of anyone who has ever seen videos of his ‘street magic’ performances. The 41-year-old magician’s Manila stopover is part of his first Asian tour.

The show’s title references Blaine’s TV special last year in which he performed inexplicable tricks to the stupefaction of celebrities such as Will Smith, Kanye West, Ricky Gervais, Katy Perry, and a very freaked-out Harrison Ford — who jokingly told Blaine to “Get the f*** out of my house.”

Born in New York to Puerto Rican-Italian and Russian parents, Blaine became an overnight success at 24 when he debuted his Street Magic in 1997. The show, in which he performed minimal yet enigmatic tricks for impromptu audiences on the street, was a success.

Eschewing the glitzy Vegas-style showmanship of magicians like David Copperfield, Blaine’s less-is-more approach, lazy Brooklyn drawl and ultra-cool manner — not to mention his dark, brooding looks — won him a great league of fans across the world who just can’t seem to believe what they see.

Later, Blaine expanded his magical repertoire by featuring himself in a series of spectacularly staged death-defying endurance performances, some of which were inspired by his idol Harry Houdini. These endurance performances have seen Blaine: sealed in a coffin-like box at the bottom of a three-ton tank of water for a week; encased in ice for 63 hours; standing unsecured on top of a 30m high narrow pillar for 53 hours; and dangled in a plastic cube above the Thames for 44 days with only water to sustain him. He even managed to break a Guinness World Record in 2008 live on The Oprah Winfrey Show when he held his breath underwater for 17 minutes and 44 seconds — the record has since been broken. Meanwhile, the last spectacle saw him being zapped by a million volts of electricity produced by eight Tesla coil towers for 72 hours.

While the magician who’s been called our generation’s greatest probably won’t replicate such endurance tests for his live show, audiences can be assured that they’ll be feted to other head-scratching Blaine specialities — from how-did-he-do-that card tricks to pushing needles through his arm to twisting off a chicken’s head and putting it back on. But is it magic? Is it real? You decide.

David Blaine ‘Real or Magic’ LIVE in Manila, September 12, 2014 at the Araneta Coliseum is presented by Ovation Productions in cooperation with AXN, Philippine Star, Manila Bulletin, BusinessWorld, ABSCBN, MYX ,Philstar.com, Inquirer.net, Manila Concert Scene, Philippine Concerts, WhenInManila.com, Rappler.com, SoundCheckManila, Pep.ph, 105.1 Crossover, 96.3 EasyRock, Retro 105.9, Monster Radio 96.3, and Mellow 947.

Discovery Channel : Manhunt with Joel Lambert

NEWS from Discovery Channel:
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: MANHUNT WITH JOEL LAMBERT, THE ULTIMATE GAME OF CAT AND MOUSE WITH WORLD’S TOP TRACKING UNITS

The all-new Discovery Channel series MANHUNT WITH JOEL LAMBERT, pits former U.S. Navy SEAL and escape and evasion expert Joel Lambert in a real-life, extreme version of hide-and-seek against some of the globe’s most elite military and law enforcement tracking units – the Philippines Army Scout Rangers, South Korean National Police (KNP) SWAT, Panama's anti-drug trafficking unit Servicio Nacional de Fronteras (SENAFRONT), Poland’s border guard, the Straz Graniczna, and more. The stakes are extraordinarily high as the seven-part original series puts Joel’s evasion and escape skills, and the readiness of these national hunter force agencies to the ultimate test. MANHUNT WITH JOEL LAMBERT premieres on Monday, April 7 at 8:00 p.m.

To capture Joel, these highly trained tracking units can use any assets available to them in a real world manhunt, unlike Joel, who is provided with minimal supplies to survive – for anything else he needs, he must search for along the way. Armed with only a basic survival kit and his wits, Joel is dropped on location in the Philippines, South Korea, South Africa, United States, Poland and Panama with a head start. He then has up to 48 hours to reach a pre-determined extraction point that only he is aware of – while being pursued by a different hunter force agency each week as well as having to face treacherous terrains and deadly wildlife such as lions, leopards, rhinos and more – or risk being captured.

Joel’s game plan is to employ diversionary tactics and infiltration and evasion techniques gleaned from his 10 years of experience as a Navy SEAL, demonstrating different strategies developed in response to varied environments and the specific skills set of each tracking unit. Viewers are brought alongside the heart-stopping action and unexpected turns firsthand via cameras that capture the intense chase from both perspectives up close. Learn the techniques used by each elite hunter force during combat or crisis situations, and how to minimise getting spotted and caught. Joel’s background has well-positioned him to prey on each unit’s hidden flaw – but evading highly specialised tracking units and combatting dehydration, hunger, and the elements might prove to be a greater challenge than he perceives. Will his experience and skills be enough to help him escape – or will the he fall victim to his hunters…or the environment?

The hunt is on. MANHUNT WITH JOEL LAMBERT encores every Friday at 3:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday at 10:00 p.m.

Episode Guide:

Episode 1: Pre-Show, “Before the Chase” (April 7)

Kicking off the series is an inside look behind-the-scenes at MANHUNT, Discovery Channel's all-new action/survival series – and the dangerous conditions battled during production. Joel Lambert, an ex-Navy SEAL, takes on some of the world’s most specialised military and law enforcement tracking units, as he puts them to the tests and challenges them to try to physically capture him over a period of up to 48 hours. Shot in some of the most remote and exotic locations of the world, viewers meet each of the hunter forces and hear about the difficulties Joel experienced in trying to escape and evade each one. The making of the series proves just as challenging as severe injuries and near-death accidents plague the crew all while trying to capture this ultimate game of cat-and-mouse.

Episode 2: South Africa, “Safari Survival” (April 14)

Joel is hunted across a private game reserve in South Africa as he faces off against one of the most specialised forces yet – the International Anti-Poaching Foundation (IAPF). With the reserve full of deadly animals such as lions, leopards, elephants, and rhinos, Joel must be hyperaware of both the hunter force behind him – and the dangerous game ahead. Comprised of ex-military and ex-poachers, the IAPF’s keen tracking skills allow them to spot even the faintest hint of Joel, without the aid of high tech assets. But when the IAPF finds a pride of lions on the prowl, the hunt changes to a life-and-death rescue mission to find Joel before he becomes a lion’s lunch.

Episode 3: Poland, “Race to the Bridge” (April 21)

Joel has just 36 hours to escape and evade Poland’s elite border guard, the Straz Graniczna. Over a distance of 25 kilometres, the border guard deploys all their assets, including thermal camera helicopters, all-terrain vehicles (ATV), motorcycles, tracking dogs and world class field units, in an attempt to intercept Joel before he reaches his extraction point. As the Straz Graniczna mobilises dozens of troops, Joel is forced to utilise all of his deception tactics – not to mention, make his way down a 20 metre cliff, and risk a daring truck ride – to attempt to save himself in this battle of Polish pride versus Joel’s rigorous training.

Episode 4: Panama, “Swim to Survive” (April 28)

Panama's elite anti-drug trafficking unit SENAFRONT has just 36 hours to track, hunt and capture Joel through the jungles of San Jose Island, situated close to 100 kilometres off the coast. Joel battles for his freedom through thick rainforest, rocky shorelines, and some surprising wildlife, while SENAFRONT unleash their full arsenal, using ATV patrols, boat units, and ground trackers to pressure Joel from all sides. But when Joel decides to use the natural terrain to conceal his trail, SENAFRONT turns the tables by using one of Joel’s signature moves against him.

Episode 5: Arizona, “Testing the Eagle” (May 5)

Joel faces off against the U.S. Army's Phantom Recon unit – a battle-tested group of trackers, supremely skilled in hunting down the most elusive of enemy targets. Their turf in southern Arizona is the harsh 75,000 acres of terrain surrounding Fort Huachuca military base, an area home to mountain lions and bears – and a much-favoured route of illegal immigrants and heavily armed drug smugglers trying to gain passage into the country. If Phantom Recon is not intimidating enough, Joel is also being monitored by a squadron of sophisticated unmanned aerial drones, whose cameras have locked in on his every move. With Joel pitted against both top-notch trackers and the latest aerial spyware, will his skills and endurance be enough to get him to a successful extraction before the “enemy” closes in?

Episode 6: Philippines, “Escape the Jungle” (May 12)

Joel faces off against the Philippines Army Scout Rangers, with just 48 hours to escape the dense jungle. Over a distance of 25 kilometres, and with two trucks as their only assets, the Scout Rangers prove they are among the world’s best at jungle tracking as they utilise their unique skill set to stay hot on Joel’s trail. But the harsh heat and humidity of the Philippines jungle – and an unfortunately timed typhoon – push Joel, the hunter unit and crew to the brink.

Episode 7: South Korea, “Hiding in Plain Sight” (May 19)

Joel takes on the South Korean National Police (KNP) SWAT unit in a challenge like he has never faced before – an urban evasion. Situated on the heavily populated and highly trafficked tourist island of Jeju, Joel must alter his tactics to escape the KNP’s web of over 5,000 closed-circuit television cameras, in addition to their boat, air and mobile assets. Nothing is off-limits to Joel as he tries to avoid physical capture through the back alleys of the city. But when the pressure of the KNP becomes too much for Joel, he leads them out into the wilderness on a wild path of deception and near misses.

MANHUNT WITH JOEL LAMBERT

Joel Lambert is an exceptional and highly skilled former U.S. Navy SEAL who constantly seeks out new endeavours that test the limits of his ability as an operator and as an individual. He continually pushes himself and shows no signs of stopping.

Joel was raised in Washington State in a small logging town on the Columbia River. Growing up, Joel had no direction but only knew he wanted something that would challenge him and was searching for a path that would be the most rewarding and the most risky. Joel can recount a story when he was 10 years old about his father’s friend who tried out to be a SEAL but quit during a training exercise where he had to be revived after he was thrown in the water with hands and feet tied behind his back and tested to survive. As a kid, Joel would always swim in the deep end of the pool and think about that story. One day, Joel decided that trying out to be a SEAL would be the ultimate challenge he had been searching for.

At 22, Joel went to a Navy recruiting office and did nothing but train to ensure he was in top physical condition to be accepted. In 1998, Joel joined the Navy and made it through Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S), the brutal and gruelling selection course for the SEAL Teams, where he proudly served during his 10 years in the military. He was deployed on combat missions to locations including Afghanistan, the European theatre and Kosovo. Joel operated within SEAL Teams 2 and 4 for eight years. During that time, he planned and participated in over 20 real-world combat missions; headed the mission critical ordnance department containing all weaponry and optics for 16 SEAL operators; trained SEAL operators and foreign special operations personnel from Singapore, Thailand, Greece, Egypt, Germany, Netherlands and Estonia.

Some of Joel’s qualifications include being heavy weapons trained; stinger missile systems qualified; Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape trained; close quarters defense and battle; Dive Supervisor; Military Free-fall trained.

After his last tour in Afghanistan, Joel spent two years as a BUD/S instructor, the screening and selection program for the Navy SEALs. He took on this new role with the understanding that helping to create the next generation of Frogmen is as important as serving in combat. During his time as an instructor, Joel earned the designation “Master Training Specialist” in recognition of superior training and briefing skills and was consistently in the top 10 percent of instructor staff.
