RPA Tech: Empowering Workforce, Automating the Future

Robots have been around for years, working side by side with humans in ways never imagined before. They make lives easier as they serve as tools that complement how people live, work, and play. They also help in performing simple, repetitive tasks faster and more precise, making them the perfect “assistants.”

In modern workplaces, there is the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology, a term that is heard more and more. For some IT professionals, RPA does not require further explanation. But others need a bit of help. What is it, really?

RPA works just like “virtual assistant,” aimed at automating business processes. By using this technology, businesses can configure software or “robots” to capture and interpret applications for processing a transaction, manipulating data, triggering responses, and communicating with other digital systems to emulate the way people work, without disrupting the business.

RPA is not yet ‘deep learning’ like Artificial Intelligence (AI), solving global problems with automated algorithms, but if you can teach it, then you can use it to automate processes. It is most helpful in cutting costs, increasing efficiency, accelerating speed-to-market, and achieving compliance.

By automating repetitive, rule-based tasks, businesses can optimize their business operations—for instance, running operational costs, monitoring working queues, updating system records, creating incident logs, and enabling business improvements.

Perhaps, less obvious is RPA’s positive impact on employee satisfaction. Free from the burden of mundane, repetitive processes, employees have more time for interaction, innovation, and delivering better value to the company and customers.

With the onset of RPA, more “virtual assistants” will appear at the office. What do they exactly do? Here are some of RPA’s applications, as listed by Fujitsu Philippines, Inc., one of the country’s leading Information and Communications Technology (ICT) system integrators:

Faster and error-free Order Processing.
Manual processing of orders leaves a business open to processing errors, fulfillment delays, and lack of visibility, which drain resources and hinders customer service. It may even hurt your reputation.

With RPA, it can help streamline the process as it automatically checks the price, verifies it against the sales order, and posts them directly on your enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform or any back-office applications.

Stress-free Financial Closing.
RPA can also help ease and reduce error risk of the painstaking process of opening hundreds of excel files and manually reconciling data for financial closing.

Remote Workflow Automation.
With just an email or thru a portal, you can command Fujitsu’s RPA to execute tasks, anytime and anywhere. RPA reduces the need for a laptop with higher specs and the consumption of electricity and internet data. It also asks for the next steps to proceed.

Fujitsu Philippines has been helping local organizations across various industries in automating their business processes through its RPA solution offerings. With its local knowledge that comes from its nearly five decades of operations in the country, the company has gained rich experience and best practices in executing pilot projects and scaling-up across the enterprise.

Aside from the benefits that organizations can get from RPA, Fujitsu also ensures that the integration of solutions is unobtrusive with legacy systems, as well as accurate and consistent 24X7. They also work with their clients on upskilling employees with automation or partner with them to co-create their automation journey. Fujitsu also provides strong support through their local and regional teams.

More than a Shoebox: Helping Kids Bounce Back through Education

My Dream in a Shoebox Continues to Fight for Children’s Education

This year is one of many drastic changes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people everywhere stayed at home as much as possible as part of the collective effort to flatten the curve. While the battle against the pandemic pans on, children’s education continues. The president announced that face to face classes will resume next year but for the meantime, the Department of Education (DepEd) has provided the academic community the option to continue schooling by pivoting to other learning delivery modalities stated in the Basic Education Learning Continuity Program for the safety of students and educators. This new educational set up entails the need for long-term supplies. However, not all students have the resources to continue their education in this new system.

This is why My Dream in a Shoebox (MDIAS) is launching its twelfth year with a renewed driving force to champion every Filipino student’s right to education and safety. MDIAS is an annual education campaign of TeamAsia that aims to equip less fortunate Filipino children with resources that will help them reach for a brighter future. Now more than ever, MDIAS is driven to empower more Filipino children to fight poverty and continue their education as they remain in the comforts and safety of their homes.

New School Year, New Goals

With the academic community facing even greater challenges today due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the campaign wants to make its impact not only bigger, but more efficient and safe. For year 12, MDIAS aspires to support 50,000 underprivileged children to adjust to the new normal with shoeboxes filled with school supplies. The campaign aims to alleviate some of our parents’ and learners’ worries in accessing resources for the upcoming school year.

MDIAS upgrades its traditional shoeboxes of school supplies by adding hygiene kits to help parents and learners facilitate a proper learning environment at home. Children need more than school supplies in order to pursue their studies in the new blended learning environment. This is why MDIAS is also planning to provide 500 radios for radio-based instruction, and solicit donations of old computers and printers for various community centers in order to access and print students’ educational materials.

Through the years, MDIAS has equipped 405,090 children with the necessary tools they need to chase their #BiggerDreams. By pivoting its initiatives to address children’s most pressing educational needs, and by working together with the local communities, MDIAS plans to make a bigger impact.

A United Stand

As the late South African President Nelson Mandela once said, “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Through education, children can make amazing things happen, and become the change the world needs. The world is evolving in the midst of this pandemic, and we need transformative solutions to solve modern issues. Children are the beacon of hope to take us forward into a better future. This is why it takes solidarity to fight for every Filipino child’s right for education. It takes cooperation and a lot of kind-hearted individuals or dream builders to encourage children to dream without limits, and make their biggest dreams come true.

The pandemic poses a lot of challenges for everyone, and the future is uncertain. However, when we work together, we can help support more children in these trying times. Every pledge in the MDIAS campaign is a powerful contribution to prepare future leaders and movers of society to help realize their full potential. Together, all the contributions can make a difference in the lives of Filipino children, one shoebox at a time! Both Bawal na Game Show and Fill in the Bank will premiere on August 15 (Saturday) from 6:00 - 8:00 PM!

Coming on the heels of the game shows is Bangon Talentadong Pinoy, which puts the spotlight on the diversity and ingenuity of Filipino talent. It boasts of the total cash prize of P2.8 million, in which a larger number of contestants can win anywhere from P2,000 to P5,000 to P50,000 and even up to P250,000!

Ryan Agoncillo returns to TV5 to host the reboot of the iconic Talentadong Pinoy. Now known as Bangon Talentadong Pinoy, the much-awaited TV show will make its comeback on August 15 (Saturday), 8:00 PM and will air every Saturdays on the same time slot in TV5.

Televiewers will also get to see a different side of Luchi as she opens up about issues that she has never talked about on Usapang Real Life with Luchi Cruz-Valdes. Set to premiere also on August 15 (Saturday) at 9:00 PM, the show will delve into various narratives and inspiring case studies that aim to inspire, engage, and move viewers into action.

Some of the exciting celebrity guests to watch for in the upcoming episodes include newscaster Karen Davila, actress KC Concepcion, celebrity couple Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres-Gomez, internet sensation Ivana Alawi, promising actress Jane De Leon, and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
