'MMK' Celebrates 20TH Anniversary!

The longest running drama anthology in Asia television is now celebrating its 20th year anniversary! "Maalaala Mo Kaya"or "MMK" is now on its second decade,
proudly celebrates its 20th year of unprecedented success in featuring stories that are not only rich in values, but also mirrors the Filipino soul and humanity.

Started in 1991, "MMK" continuously inspires people with different real-life stories sent through letters. For 20 years now,"MMK" remains to be undisputed drama-anthology even though other networks used to imitate its format.

Charo Santos-Concio, ABS-CBN President who’s also the host of MMK, cordially invites everyone to celebrate with the show’s two-decade victory in a documentary special, including a much-awaited heart-to-heart interview to be done by no less than another powerful woman, who is as successful in her field, Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos. It’s very rare to see two pillars of the Philippine television in a special tete-a-tete to be witnessed by Filipinos all over the world.

With this documentary special, which airs this September 25, Sunday’s Best on ABS-CBN, MMK reminisces on its valuable relationship with its millions of loyal viewers for the past 20 years. It has successfully connected with everyone–barring gender, age or wealth, and has touched, inspired and changed lives of Filipinos.

MMK 20th Anniversary Special also aims to recollect and share again with each other all Filipino values, life lessons, challenges and redemptions as it recalls the unforgettable real life stories—from the viewpoint of “real people.”

Most sought after Kapamilya stars Piolo Pascual, KC Concepcion, Sam Milby, Jericho Rosales, Vhong Navarro, Angelica Panganiban and other artists who have become part of MMK’s continuing legacy will also share how did portraying different roles have changed their lives.

“Sa loob ng mahabang panahon, kabahagi na namin kayo sa pagbuo ng magagandang alaala, dahil kayo ang aming inspirasyon. At bilang pasasalamat , ngayong buwan ng Oktubre, espesyal ang bawat Sabado ng gabi, Kapamilya. Ipagdiwang natin ang 20 taon nating pinagsamahan,” goes Santos-Concio’s invitation.

Also, this October MMK will present its anniversary episodes—starring some of the brightest actors in the industry—shot in some of the world’s most magnificent places.  Catch MMK’s “Palawan,” “Bukidnon-Happy Feet,” “Barcelona,” “Aurora” and “Canada” episodes, Saturdays, after “Wansapanataym” on ABS-CBN.

Then and now, Ms. Charo Santos-Concio is the host of the said drama anthology. Her trademark, the way she hosted the show is now a television legacy.

Happy 20th Anniversary "MMK!"

Dear Facebook: Enough, already. Our outrage can't keep up with your changes

by Lylah M. Alphonse, Senior Editor, Manage Your Life

It's time to be outraged about Facebook again...

No matter how many times the Facebook gods make changes to that social network's site, users are up in arms—and they flock to Facebook to talk about it. Here's a rundown of some of the funniest, on-target gripes we've seen about the latest raft of Facebook changes that were rolled out on Thursday. All photos from Facebook, of course.

Every joke has a kernel of truth.

It's like the Russian Doll of Facebook
A Facebook feed within a Facebook feed? There lies madness.

Well, isn't that what it's for?

What's a status update for if not for venting? And right now, many users are venting about the same thing.

It could be worse. They could have called it "Facebookster"

We wonder what Netflix CEO Reed Hasting's Facebook status is right now?

When in doubt, ask some puppies

Designer Marnie MacLean worked through the seven stages of Facebook grief—shock, confusion, indignation, activism, flounce, distraction, and acceptance—with the help of some adorable puppies. Extreme times call for extreme measures...

Ah, perspective...

Frankly, we prefer to distract ourselves with news about elephants that can paint. But if the Facebook changes are really troubling you, there are three things you can try to make it look a bit more like it used to:

Cnet.com describes Better Facebook as "a Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Opera extension that's been around for a few years now"; it allows users to customize the Facebook features that they love (or hate) most.

A Facebook group called "I Hate the New Facebook Profile" offers a quick way to make the new news feed look more like the old one: Create a customized list that includes all of your Facebook friends, then add the new list to your favorites; when you click on it from the home page, your news feed will look the way it used to.

Google Chrome users can take advantage of a free plug in to remove the new Facebook news ticker feed. It's called—you guessed it—The Facebook News Ticker Remover.

Tatlong Tabing, A Tony Perez Trilogy

Tony Perez, who has spent over two decades eloquently dissecting the Filipino Psyche, is an important playwright in contemporary Philippine drama. A prolific playwright with several volumes of published works, his plays deal with adult themes such as intense love, betrayal, separation, compassion, poverty, hunger, marriage, birth, and death. This trilogy traces his artistic development as a playwright. Sierra Lakes is a tension-filled play that explores issues among four people caught in a complicated web of love and desire. Bombita is a black comedy which questions the blind obedience and subservience behaviour of young rookies in the military. Funny, but almost in a pathetic way, it reveals the emotional and intellectual short-comings of our men in uniform. A psychological drama, Nobyembre, Noong Akala Ko’y Mahal Kita is the second play in the multi-awarded playwright’s thought-provoking trilogy about love, friendship and companionship, and their consequences in our lives.
