Take photos "like a pro" with Oppo N3

OPPO has established over 100 feature scenes in the PI 2 0+

Oppo opens your imagination by letting you take creative and sharp photos of moments you want to remember with full color and detail.

Professional cameras require significant investments and are often bulky in build — for this reason, they are often not embraced by many.

This is the claim of Chinese manufacturer Oppo after re-introducing the camera features their flagship smartphone boasts, that allow users to take photos "like a pro" with the built-in 16-megapixel camera.

"The Oppo N3 is the perfect device for photography enthusiasts," said the company in a statement.

Oppo features a first-of-its-kind automated swivel camera.

The N3 also comes equipped with the company's "Pure Image 2.0+" software, which basically makes the necessary adjustments for the user in order to take the best photo possible.

It includes tweaks to the white balance settings, brightness adjustment, auto focus, and face recognition, among others.

The smartphone also has a dual LED flash, an auto panorama mode, and target-tracking focus shift function, that will enable users to take clear photos of moving targets.

The N3 also has a Ultra-HD feature, which has become a staple for most smartphones, that takes multiple shots of one image before stitching it together to create an "high-definition" image.

The Oppo N3, unveiled last October, has a price tag of P29,000 in the Philippines.

When the OPPO N3 was released in October, we witnessed the next evolution of mobile photography — singlehanded control, an effortless panoramic mode, and an exciting target-tracking focus shift function.

But these functions only scratch the surface.

Let’s zoom in on the OPPO N3 to see what makes it an amazing compact camera smartphone.

Pure Image 2.0+ Smart Command Flagship Configuration

Let’s take a look at the imaging features of the N3: a 16MP Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens offering a maximum resolution of 64MP; a pixel size of 1.34 micron and integration of 5 optical lenses, a configuration that exceeds the standard of current flagship Android devices; an optimum balance between high resolution and the photo-sensitive area; and a dual LED flash that provides more natural lighting for images.

Utilizing the highest level of performance from the hardware calls for the implementation of a comprehensive software engine—this is where OPPO’s PI 2.0+ comes into play.

The PI 2.0+ image platform enables the N3 to handle a multitude of different photography settings. OPPO analyzed thousands of common photography settings to construct a matching library, which features more than a hundred unique functions.

When you activate the camera, the PI engine will start by performing a smart analysis of the environment and will identify its unique characteristics. The engine will then provide the most appropriate color optimization solution. With an improved optimization algorithm, the PI 2.0+ is able to complete this complicated matching process in an instant.

Plenty of settings for sophisticated photographic task

The camera modes of the PI 2.0+ image platform can be fully personalized, turning your smartphone to your own private photography suite. This plug-in feature will allow you to fully realize your creative talent.

The smart image plug-in feature of PI 2.0+ helps the N3 create a series of sophisticated and unique photography experiences. Offering options similar to that of professional cameras along with flexible and customizable settings, you can take fantastic pictures anytime, anywhere.

Using the Auto Panorama mode, you can appear in multiple locations in the same picture without post-editing tediously since the camera rotates on its own. Before using the feature, choose 3 to 4 segments within the 206° view of the N3’s camera. After the camera finishes scanning the first segment, you can move out of the focus area and shift to the next segment before the camera takes the shot.

Photograph with the N3 Double Exposure Setting

Shake hands with yourself

With OPPO’s N3, it’s now possible to shake hands with yourself using the double exposure effect. To use the double exposure plug-in, simply activate the double exposure function and pose for the first picture. At this point, your first image will increase its transparency and will remain on the display—that is your cue to take a second shot. The second photo will overlap the first photo. The PI 2.0+ will automatically merge the two images into one.

Photograph with the N3 Ultra-HD Setting

See finer details

Don’t let memories slip away because of poor image resolution. Now that OPPO has the PI 2.0+ platform, you can capture every detail with its Ultra-HD feature. The OPPO N3 is equipped with a multi-frame synthesis super-sampling technique that combines multiple low resolution RAW images into an ultra-high resolution picture with finer details.

Compared with conventional interpolation method, the Ultra-HD generates outstanding, high-quality pictures that closely resemble those taken with traditional high resolution sensor components. Improve your image’s quality to an astounding 64-MP or 32-MP resolution and see beauty in high definition.

Take photos like a pro

Professional photography has never sounded more fun than it does with a Compact Camera Smartphone like OPPO N3. Professional cameras have powerful features that exceed the image quality and effects of ordinary cameras. However, they require significant investments and are often bulky in build—for this reason, they are often not embraced by users.

With the common notion that professional cameras are not for everyone, OPPO has released a camera plug-in with features such as white balance, ISO, exposure compensation and manual focus. This lets everyday users experience the sophistication of a professional camera with their smartphone.

The OPPO N3opens your imagination by letting you take creative and sharp photos of moments you want to remember with full color and detail.

DepEd reminds schools to keep grad rites simple

The Department of Education (DepEd) reiterated that graduation ceremonies in schools should be simple but meaningful and should promote civil rights, foster a sense of community, and encourage personal responsibilities.

Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro FSC said, “While graduation rites mark a milestone in the life of the graduates, these should be conducted without excessive spending, extravagant attires, or extravagant venues.”

Luistro directed the public school heads to charge any expenses related to the graduation rites to the school Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) under the 2015 budget.

“Contribution for the annual yearbook, if any, should be on a voluntary basis,” he added. Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) may donate funds as long as these are from voluntary contributions.

Luistro added that non-academic projects such as but not limited to attendance to field trips, film showing, Junior/Senior (JS) Promenade and other school events should not be imposed as requirements for graduation.

The graduation ceremonies should be scheduled either on March 26 or 27, 2015.

This year’s graduation theme is “Saktong Buhay: Sa De-kalidad na Edukasyon Pinanday”

This year’s commencement exercises shall highlight the importance of quality education in forging a decent future for the Filipino youth.

“Through this theme, we hope to emphasize the Department’s commitment in honing the 21st century skills among Filipino graduates in order for them to actualize their life goals and dreams not only for themselves but also for the less fortunate,” Luistro said.

MICHELIN takes the challenge for energy efficiency, safety and innovation in Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2015

Michelin, in global partnership with Shell, welcomes back the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia (SEMA) for its second year in the Philippines at Luneta Park, Manila on February 26 to March 1, 2015.

The Shell Eco-Marathon is an international competition wherein student teams must create a safe and energy-efficient vehicle that promotes sustainable solutions for mobility.

MICHELIN continues as the Official Global Partner and Tire Supplier of the event in 2015.

An increased number of student teams will participate in SEMA 2015, with 127 teams from 17 countries from the Asia-Pacific and delegates from Australia, Saudi Arabia, Oman and South Africa. From the Philippines alone, 25 universities from all over the country with as much as 34 participating prototype vehicles are joining this year. The SEMA 2014 had 109 teams from 15 countries, and 15 teams from the Philippines among them.

Marketing Communications Director for MICHELIN Philippines Caroline Ablanida, Communication & Brands Director for MICHELIN East Asia and Australia Ruedee Euachongprasit, Customer Engineering Support Manager for MICHELIN Philippines Jaybee Atanacio and Chief Representative of MICHELIN Philippines Michael Nunag during the MICHELIN Press Conference on Energy Efficiency, Safety and Innovation at the Shell Eco-Marathon.
“The Michelin and Shell partnership are aligned with valuing innovation for better mobility, that also pursues energy-efficient and safe solutions for mobility.” said Michael Nunag, Chief Representative of MICHELIN Philippines.

The MICHELIN tires for Shell Eco-Marathon are well-designed tires that are lightweight and provide low rolling resistance, providing optimal traction and longer travel time for the prototype vehicles. These tires are approximately 6 times more efficient than one of the best energy efficient tires on the market (MICHELIN Energy EV).

MICHELIN will also be providing technical assistance and support to all the participant teams throughout the competition, by supporting them with safety advice and how to best utilize the tires for their vehicles to get the best performance.

A first for SEMA in Manila, the concept behind MICHELIN Road Safety City is to get everyone, especially the kids, in on the importance of road safety.

“Road Safety is everyone’s responsibility. With Michelin Road Safety City 2015, what we want to bring to all the participants is the basic but important knowledge that will keep them safe on the road.  This includes respecting traffic rules, the meaning of road signs, and how to avoid danger on the road. All the activities are designed to demonstrate the importance of road safety, with the hope that this will help to reduce road accidents,” said Ruedee Euachongprasit, Director of Communication and Brands, Michelin East Asia and Australia.

Barbie Almalbis is back with her “new heart”

Barbie Almalbis is back on the music scene presenting a new chapter in her life through the launch of her latest album “My New Heart.”

Formerly the lead singer of the bands Hungry Young Poets and Barbie's Cradle, she pursued a solo career in 2005, now releasing her "new heart." Her music is characterised by a rather quirky, but endearing vocal style, and guitar work.

Barbie, started releasing solo records since 2005 after she made popular songs like 'Torpe' and 'Firewoman with Hungry Young Poets band, 'Tabing-ilog' and 'Limang Dipang Tao' with Barbie's Cradle band.

Her first solo album was 'Parade,' which includes songs like 'Dahilan,' 'Pag-alis,' and 'High' with The Speaks, followed by the album 'Goodbye My Shadow' in 2011 (her last before she released 'My New Heart').

Barbie considering her songs like her “diary" and the latest album 'My New Heart' her most special and most adventurous.

The songs blend happiness and sadness, not because Barbie feels down and out, but she can experiment with expressing as many feelings as she can in a song.

Barbie has been dormant for sometime from the music scene because as she said "while I was preparing for this new album, I was also becoming a very hands-on mother to my two kids. So I was thinking why not come up with an album that this time speaks so many themes and thoughts that are coming from and coming close to the heart. But at the same time not loosing the pop-rock beat I have become known for."

With her active lifestyle, and while maintaining her groove as a recording artist has experienced full growth with her kids and her ever supportive and handsome husband Martin Honasan, it is not a surprise that the pretty rocker does look younger and is all aglow. She has a healthy working collaboration with her husband who also happens to be an artist, a painter. In fact her husband Martin happens to be one of the main people who made the cover art of Barbie's new album.

The songs included in the album are: Say Goodbye, Emmanuel, Run For Cover, My New Heart, On This Train, We Are Slaves, Secrets, Joyful Joyful, and Ostrich Cowboy.

All nine tracks were produced by Barbie and Maly Andres, and Tommy Tanchanco under the 12 Stone Records label.

'My New Heart' is now available in leading record bars nationwide and even in some online music stores.

Here's one of my favorite songs of Barbie, "High",  a collaboraton with US based all-Pinoy band, The Speaks.
