Unfortunately, the struggle is real sometimes in getting that awesome selfie. Whatever the reason, bad selfies are unacceptable and a no-no, #sorrynotsorry especially if you want your crush to like it! In order to save you from social depriving self-esteem, we've come up with essential selfie tricks that you should know and practice so that you can be on your way to awesome selfies!

• Do a Background Check

When you take a selfie, people won’t just see your face but even your background so if you have a mountain of used clothes or unmade bed at your back, behold…judgmental comments are coming! Selfies during travels are a different story though because photobombers are inevitable but at least make sure they don’t cover the view or be an extrovert and just invite them for a groufie!

• Follow the Light

Take this advice literally. Swear. Literally. Find a light brighter than your best friend’s personality and let it highlight your pretty face! Go out, walk towards the window, or if you can’t follow the light, say “Let there be light” and just open the lampshade nearest you!  

• Work Your Angles

Be honest, we all know by now you have taken thousands of selfies and should have somehow identified which is your best angle. (Well just in case you haven’t, just check your profile and check which one had the most likes!) You may have the most perfect eyes, nose, cheekbones, lips, chin, and so on and so forth, but projection beats perfection any day. So snap, snap, snap, and work it, girl!

Yes, that’s plural because we really mean A LOT. There’s nothing wrong with having options, right? Especially if you feel that 1 like from your crush = one percent higher at chance meter. So do it, create shots that vary in angle, lighting, or background (or even outfit!) In case you will have a difficult time choosing, what are best friends for?

NGCP partners with GE on the new Hermosa 500kV transmission line and substation

Development of a 500kV transmission backbone will serve as additional outgoing circuits from Hermosa to San Jose to allow simultaneous maximum dispatch of existing power plants

Expected to be completed by Q4 2018, this project will allow more power transmitted from the source of generation to the point of consumption, and provide more reliable sustainable power supply to the Luzon grid

Manila, Philippines—GE  announced today its partnership with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) for the new 500kV transmission line project and substation located in Hermosa, Bataan.

“NGCP supports the government’s goal of providing access to electricity to every corner of the country. The Hermosa substation project is in line with the Department of Energy’s strategic directions 2017-2040, which is to expand energy access to ensure affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy supply for all,” stated NGCP.

The project is crucial in accommodating generation capacity additions in the Bataan and Zambales areas. The new Hermosa substation serves as a merging point of power, with an aggregate dependable capacity of about 4,000 MW. The development of a new 500 kV transmission backbone will serve as the additional outgoing circuits from Hermosa to San Jose to allow simultaneous maximum dispatch of existing power plants. NGCP’s existing San Jose 500 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear Substation is currently the only connection point from power plants in North Luzon to its delivery points in Metro Manila down to South Luzon.  

Completion of the project, which is expected in Q4 of 2018, will allow more power transmitted from the source of generation to the point of consumption, and therefore provide more reliable and sustainable power supply to the Luzon grid.

GE Power’s Grid Solutions business will be supplying 2 banks of 1000MVA composed of 7 x 333.33 MVA, 1-phase, 60 Hz, 500/230-13.8 kV Auto-Transformers; 2 banks of 60MVAr (Bay reactor) composed of 6 x 20Mvar, 6 x 20 MVAR, 1-phase, 60 Hz, 500 kV Power Shunt Reactors; 1 bank of 90MVAr (Line reactor) composed of 3 x 30 MVAR, 1-phase, 60 Hz, 500 kV Power Shunt Reactors. The suite of solutions utilizes the latest in design, measurement and testing tools featuring optimized transformer cooling, low air forced cooler noise, advanced core design techniques that reduce no-load loss and no-load noise, and accurate design verification tools. It also includes a design software to perform advanced transformer analytics to help predict major breakdowns and minimize downtimes. 

According to Grid Solutions Country Leader Vince Del Mundo, “Connecting people all over the world to the power they need to live and thrive is our purpose. It is fulfilling to know that we play an important part in bringing reliable and sustainable power to the Filipinos, and we are a proud partner to NGCP in its plan to deliver and commission this Hermosa project by year 2018.”

The Hermosa project is only one of NGCP’s grid expansion and reinforcement projects. Given its nationwide operations, the grid operator is also continuing its preparatory works to interconnect the Visayas and Mindanao grids, reinforce the Cebu-Negros-Panay link, and complete the Northern Luzon loop, among others, to ensure safe, reliable, and quality power transmission services across the country.

TJ Monterde dominates Billboard PH charts with four hot singles!

Acoustic pop balladeer TJ Monterde’s albums, produced and released by PolyEast Records, have each officially landed four singles at the peak of the weekly Billboard Philippines Top 20.

According to Billboard PH, four of TJ’s singles have entered thr top charts in span of five weeks. Recently, “Tulad Mo” from his CD single released in 2015 is sitting atop Billboard Philippines Top 20 at #2. While the song “Dating Tayo” (2016, Self-Titled Album) also at #6.

Another hit culled from the 2016 self-titled album is “Ikaw At Ako Pa Rin,” TJ’s duet with soul singer KZ Tandingan is also enjoying its #12 position. TJ’s debut single in 2013 which led him to stardom, “Ikaw At Ako” coming in at #14 giving the singer its 4th top 20 entry on the latest Billboard Philippines weekly top charts. 

With streaming figures being taken into consideration in the charts, TJ is officially the first local artist to gain such recognition from Billboard Philippines. Billboard PH noted on their website that “Data are based on song streams, digital downloads, and video plays. The data sources approved by Billboard US are Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.”

Owning the year 2017 as his moment for success, the singer-songwriter also concluded a sold-out concert “Ikaw at Ako: The Concert” at the Music Museum as he launched his third and latest offering “Kahit Kunwari” in June 2017. TJ’s new album consists of five all-original acoustic ballads and kicked off with the single “Mahika.”

AirAsia launches its region-wide #DaretoDream sports initiative, which aims to motivate and inspire athletes to discover their own potential and make their athletic aspirations a reality.

As the official airline partner of the 2017 SEA Games, AirAsia, voted as the world's best low cost carrier for nine consecutive years by Skytrax,  launches the campaign just in time for the Southeast Asian Games, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 19 to 31. 

AirAsia Philippines has also created an inspiring web video series telling the stories of our very own SEA Games athletes, who are all aiming to bring home glory for the country this August.
