Grupo Agatep President bags 2017 IABC CEO Excel Award

Grupo Agatep President and Managing Director, Norman Agatep was named by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines as one of the recipients of the 2017 CEO Excel Awards for his contributions to the fields of public relations, advertising, digital marketing. The event was held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City last December 4.

After three decades of outstanding work in the fields of advertising, public relations, and digital marketing, Norman Agatep, president and managing director of integrated marketing communication agency Grupo Agatep, was named one of this year's recipients of the CEO Excel Awards.

The distinction, given by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines, aims to recognize innovative leaders from various industries who have utilized strategic communication to positively impact their companies and communities.

Agatep, who was among 15 individuals awarded in a ceremony held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom last December 4, was merited for his skillful management of his company during its transition to becoming a fully-independent agency now known as Grupo Agatep. The CEO Excel Awards also recognized the significant role played by Agatep and his company in helping manage the reputation of their clients. Aside from these, his invaluable contribution to the marketing communication industry as demonstrated by his outstanding leadership of organizations such as the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies-Philippines (4As), Ad Standards Council (ASC), and the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) was also lauded during the ceremony.

"I am humbled by this honor," Norman Agatep said. "It is not just a recognition of the work put in during the last three decades; this award is a testament to the passion I encountered in the individuals I have had the pleasure to serve with. We made waves, inspired trends, and helped brands manage their reputation because of their commitment. This award is dedicated to each and every one of them."

This is not the first time that an Agatep was given this distinction. In 2006, legendary PR guru Charlie Agatep, Norman's father, also received an IABC CEO Excel Award. Charlie Agatep today serves as Chairman and CEO of Grupo Agatep. Through the drive and dedication of the father and son duo, Grupo Agatep is now the most Anvil-awarded agency in the country with 137 awards under its name. Presented annually by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), the Anvils is the symbol of excellence in PR.

Aside from Norman Agatep, this year's IABC CEO Excel awardees are: Belen Lim of Security Bank; Benjamin Ramos of City State Savings Bank and BusinessMirror; Danny Lim of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA); Dante Velasco of Creative Point International, Inc.; Dennis Uy of Udenna Corporation, Inc.; Edwin Hernandez of Jardine Distribution, Inc.; Gregory Banzon of Century Pacific; Kingson Sian of Resorts World Manila; Lina Sarmiento of the Human Rights Victims' Claims Board; Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso of Megaworld Corp.; Manos Koukourakis of Japan Tobacco International Philippines, Inc.; Mark Villar of the Department of Public Works and Highways; and Philip Gioca of JobStreet.

Red Ribbon brings a memorable birthday to Our Lady of Manaoag’s little patrons

Kids teeter to blow their cakes during Red Ribbon’s birthday surprise.

A visit to the Our Lady of Manaoag brought an unexpected surprise to twenty youngsters as they arrived to a simple party where they received the most colorful treat: a chance to celebrate their birthday with their loved ones.

The eyes of the little ones gleamed at the sight of the blessings: a venue decorated with balloons, tables lined with the chocolate cakes, and their names carefully drawn in icing with a sweet “Happy Birthday!” greeting. For most of the youngsters, this will be their first birthday party and the first time they will be blowing out the candles of their own cake.

Alesha Anne sneaks in a taste of the Rainbow Dedication Cake.
Coinciding with the special day of the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of Manaoag, the ‘Share a Rainbow Surprise’ was led by the Red Ribbon store team to add sweetness to the birthdays of the kids from Manaoag. The bakeshop identified those who will receive the Rainbow Dedication Cake treat, with the help of the Department of Social Welfare and Development local office and the Manaoag Church Basic Ecclesial Community.

The kids had excitement spelled on their faces as they raced to the venue and received hugs from their parents. It was the youngster’s parents, however, that was moved by the special occasion. “Hangga’t maari po sana, maibigay ko rin po iyong hindi ko naranasan sa kanya. Pangarap ko pong birthday party kay Alesha Anne iyong magkaroon po siya ng cake. Magiging masaya po ako kung matutupad itong dream birthday niya po. (It is my dream for Alesha Anne to have a cake. I would be extremely happy if we can grant this wish)” shared Eliza Corpuz.

Lemuel and 19 others received a special birthday treat from Red Ribbon Manaoag.
Everyone gathered as parents and representatives from Red Ribbon sliced the chocolate cakes and went around with plates in hand. It was yet another surprise as the party attendees saw the colorful layers of chiffon underneath the chocolate coating and the rainbow-toned lollipops that topped the Rainbow Dedication Cake.

The double celebration continued with party games and dances and the birthday celebrators simultaneously blowing out their candles. It was a sight to behold as the little ones, who came lighthearted to the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of Manaoag, went home with wider smiles and a little more sweetness on their special day.

Watch as the surprise unfolds for the kids of Manaoag and join the millions of viewers who have seen the many exciting shades of celebration from Red Ribbon.
