The latest GOLF le FLEUR* from Tyler, The Creator and Converse

Tyler, the Creator is audacious. He is loud. He is particular. And 2017 was a big year for the artist.

He received his first Grammy nomination for his  fourth studio album Flower Boy and  a  series of collaborations with Converse ranging from a creative interpretation of the One Star to the release of his own GOLF le FLEUR* sneaker were largely regarded as some of the most unexpected and refreshing.

Jump into 2018 and the 26-year-old shows no signs of this vibrant energy burning out. Neither does the GOLF le FLEUR*.

Bold pastels offer a fresh take on 2018

Today, after much anticipation, Tyler, the Creator and Converse reveal the latest iteration of the GOLF le FLEUR*.  His signature suede sneaker comes in three bold pastels to kick off the year– geranium pink, bachelor blue and jade lime. The GOLF le FLEUR* is available for a retail price of Php 6,550 at Converse Glorietta, Converse Greenbelt and Commonwealth Greenbelt.

The collection also continues to see Converse Essentials apparel delivered from the two brands.

The legacy French Terry Converse Essentials Hoodie, which retails for Php 4,910 features the GOLF le FLEUR* logo and is available in four complementary color ways – jade lime, peach pearl, clear water blue and egret

Cotton Jersey Converse Essentials tees come in Hawaiian ocean blue, black, peach pearl and white for Php 2,110 exclusively available at Commonwealth Greenbelt.

Delgado Clinic launches Optimal Birth Outcome (OBO) Program to promote healthy pregnancy

Dr. Jesus Delgado Memorial Hospital, more popularly known as the Delgado Clinic, has been championing mother care for 70 years with a record of more than a hundred thousand babies being delivered to date. From normal births to high-risk complications, the Delgado Clinic has taken an extra measure of love and personalized care as all mothers do to make sure their child not only lives, but flourishes.

True to its legacy, the Delgado Clinic introduces the Optimal Birth Outcome (OBO) program, a free three-day workshop that serves as the ultimate care, support and education system for moms-to-be designed to minimize or even eliminate congenital defect, premature birth, new-born infections, and other chronic complications for both mothers and children.

An Optimal Birth Outcome (OBO) is achieved when there is zero or reduced complications. The OBO program does this by providing added-value services in support of the foundational needs of every individual mother. No matter what level of physical or emotional health they mother comes in with, the goal of the program is to provide the best possible childbearing outcome for each mother and child.

The OBO program focuses on five aspects of health that are scientifically proven to have wide ranging effects for every pregnancy.

• Nutrition and Wellness- Delgado Clinic has localized the latest scientific nutrition information to support reduced negative birth outcomes, achieve optimum growth and development of the baby and provide a stable environment from which both mother and child may spring from.

• Biotransformation & Elimination of Toxicants- The advent of urbanization has surrounded mothers with multiple toxic elements that are often missed and unassessed. Pulling from the latest scientific evidence the OBO program equips mothers with the practical knowledge of avoiding and substituting today’s most commonly used harmful chemicals.

• Stress Management- Stress during pregnancy affects a child’s developing brain, metabolic system and body. Through the OBO stress mangament workshop mothers are taught the multiple ways of managing stress and its link to long term maternal and child diseases.

• Exercise in Pregnancy - Physical exercise is an activity that improves or maintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness. Exercise during pregnancy is important and can help with some common discomforts of pregnancy and support the body for labor, delivery and life after delivery.

• Sleep Management- Establishing good sleep patterns during pregnancy is physically, psychologically and emotionally important. A good sleep pattern plays an important role in the preparation for birth, and protects the baby from the psychological stresses and strains of pregnancy.

Dr. Rolando “Oyie” Balburias, President and General Manager of Delgado Clinic once stated that , “We at Delgado Clinic would like to continue the legacy of our late founder, Dr. Jesus Delgado, his VISION and MISSION, and on being the pioneer advocate of CHAMPION OF MOTHER CARE for the past 70 years.”
Empowered by Johnson & Johnson, the First Time Mom Unit (FTMU) facility that caters to first time moms in their medical and hospital needs, and the Delgado Clinic’s Optimal Birth Outcome (OBO) program aims to deliver enriching workshops for the mother not only to give birth to a healthy baby, but also to be holistically healthy before, during, and after the pregnancy.

By signing onto the First Time Mom Unit (FTMU) and Optimal Birth Outcome (OBO) workshops, moms-to-be also become eligible to join on the “Bet on Your D-Day.”

The exclusive contest created by the Delgado Clinic to give OBO participants more than just an educational reward but a chance to win discounts on their maternity packages and other amazing prizes.

The OBO program is scheduled to launch on January 20 followed by the succeeding workshops on January 27 and February 3, 2018 at the Delgado Clinic.

Easy payments, top-ups at The SM Store

Be it the latest fashion items, toys, shoes or home products, Filipinos can now easily pay for all their shopping finds at The SM Store with just their phones with the help of PayMaya QR.

Getting a PayMaya account is easy. "SM has been an early partner of PayMaya as a load-up center for our customers, as well as a valued partner of our Smart Padala remittance service. This is a natural progression of our collaboration as we make it easier for our customers to use their PayMaya accounts anywhere they are in the country. We thank our partners like SM for helping accelerate cashless adoption among consumers," said Orlando B. Vea, President and CEO at PayMaya Philippines.

Building a Cashless Philippines

PayMaya’s partnership with The SM Store for QR-based payments builds on its trailblazing initiative of building a “Cashless Philippines” in line with National Retail Payment System initiative led by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas that aims to increase the share of electronic transactions in the country by 20% in 2020.

To support this vision, PayMaya has launched game-changing innovations including PayMaya QR. Various merchants are now equipped with the payments technology, including all Smart Stores nationwide, food parks like The Yard Timog, Pioneer Street Market, and Hue Hotel and Resorts and Station X in Boracay, as well as establishments such as Fairmont Makati and Army Navy, among many others.

Today, PayMaya is also the largest online and mobile acquirer in the Philippines, powering card payment acceptance of some of the biggest e-Commerce retailers in the country, including the likes of Lazada, Zalora, Philippine Airlines, and Cebu Pacific. Most recently, PayMaya has enabled McDonald's to accept card payments in its restaurants and online delivery card acceptance will also be available soon.

PayMaya Philippines, the country’s pioneer and leader in cashless payments, is the digital financial services arm of PLDT’s Voyager Innovations.

Globe myBusiness helps SMEs become future proof

Globe myBusiness has brought its valuable expertise and tried-and-tested products and solutions to the country’s favorite tourist destination, Boracay, to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) become future-proof.

Participants of the Globe myBusiness workshop for Boracay SMEs

The workshop, dubbed as Globe myBusiness Digital Tools to Future-Proof Your Business, centered on the most prominent industries currently flourishing in Boracay such as tourism, hotels and accommodations, restaurants and food establishments, and retail.

In the four-day event, entrepreneurs, managers and various other staff members from all over the island were able to pick up a wealth of knowledge that allowed them to better understand technology and what it can do for them.

Derrick Heng, Senior Advisor for Globe myBusiness said:  “Employing technology in business isn’t instantaneous. Rather, it’s a step-by-step process. It may take years for a business to fully maximize its digital potential, but the results are definitely worth the challenge.  Globe myBusiness is here to assist entrepreneurs every step of the way.”

As a first takeaway from the workshop, the participants learned about the importance of social media which is the simplest way to use technology for business.  Through social media, entrepreneurs can spread word about their business, get feedback, and contact their clients or customers in the blink of an eye.

“Digital marketing was the most important lesson for me, that you really need to make the most out of it through social media,” said Lourdes A. Ramirez of Secret Garden Boracay.

June Myrrh Dueñas and Dane Aldeguer of Isla Chicas Travel Consultancy added:  “We understand that everything’s online, and everything’s on mobile phones, and we need to be a part of everything that’s happening. We have to grow with the changes, with technology.”

At the same time, Globe myBusiness educated the participants about different business solutions that can help them sell online such as Shopify; boost efficiency through the Gsuite online suite of productivity tools that can be used anywhere and on any device; and advertise their business like the Adblast targeted texts to consumers, among others.

“The workshop was very helpful for me. The things discussed were added nutrients for what I need for my business, like customer advocacy, offline tools, online tools … they’re very helpful because I discovered what else I need in order to improve the business,” said Jeyna Azugi of Team Sir George Salon.

Digital technology, however, has to be embraced not only by the decision-makers but the whole team for it to make a bigger impact.

“We learned a lot that could help us with our future plans for the business. We are most interested in the concept of GCash. Our consideration now is how we’ll train our employees, because they’re already doing things a certain way, so it’ll be a [challenge] helping them adapt to technology,” said Flory Jhen and Flory Vhel Alvarez of Shinyou.

However, technology only emphasizes what business owners already know and live by, that it is quality that still gets the customer. Thus, technology has to work side by side with current sales, service and marketing strategies in order for it to work.

CES 2018: LG showcases OLED’s full capabilities

At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), high-tech companies and manufacturers are given the opportunity to showcase their latest upcoming products and concepts, pushing the boundaries of bleeding edge technology. It's only fitting, then, that LG Electronics opted to show off some of the best-ever demonstrations of its flagship OLED technologies.

For CES, LG wowed attendees with its OLED Canyon, a mesmerizing walkway that consists of over 246 LG Open Frame OLED displays. Audiences walked through the Canyon, which was 90 feet in length, flanked on both sides by hundreds of concave and convex displays showing brilliant natural imagery, ranging from waterfalls and caves to glaciers and seascapes.

The rich, vibrant colors of the OLED screens contributed to an unparalleled sense of immersion that had audiences snapping photos at every turn.

Another one of LG’s incredible showcases was a 65-inch rollable OLED display. While it's not the first time LG demonstrated the amazingly flexible properties of OLED panels - in 2016, LG demoed a bendy 18-inch prototype - it's the first time that the technology has been seen scaled up to the size of a typical large TV. When unrolled, the huge 4K display featured all the hallmarks of LG’s best OLED televisions, with incredible contrast and vivid colors, but at the touch of a button, it retracted into its base until it was completely out of sight, rolled up within.

Other options included partly descending into the base, switching from a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio to a 21:9 ultrawide, allowing you to view movies shot at cinematic aspect ratios without any letterboxing. Another option caused the display to sink almost all the way into the base, revealing only a small strip that displayed updates, controls, and notifications.

While these technologies represent visions of the future that may not be coming to your living room any time soon, LG had more up its sleeve for current customers in the form of the LG Signature OLED W8, its latest flagship TV. The W8 includes further enhancements to the display technology, along with a whole host of new features that highlight it as one of the best TVs you can buy. One feature is the integration of Google Assistant into the webOS Smart TV platform, allowing you to use intuitive voice commands to control the W8, search the Web, control IoT and smart home devices, and more.

Another is the inclusion of a 4.2 Dolby Atmos soundbar that provides incredible sound to match any content that you can throw at it. The soundbar also serves as the input source for the TV, and connects to it via a stunningly thin cable.

As other manufacturers enter the market with their own OLED models, LG’s pioneering efforts and technological leadership in the field are what allow it to stay on top.

These and other demonstrations of LG’s OLED technology truly cement LG’s status as the No. 1 OLED brand.
