Bayad Partners with Go VIP Center to empower Filipinos with more payment options

Bayad, the pioneer brand in the outsourced payment collection system, has partnered with Go VIP Center, a leading business solutions and financial services provider, to enable customers with more convenient ways to pay their bills.

Under the partnership, more than 1,000 Go VIP payment centers can now accept bills payments for different utilities and government contributions including the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), PLDT, and Metro Manila Development Authority.

The new feature is on top of the usual money transfer, remittance, airtime loading, delivery, and microinsurance services offered in Go VIP payment centers.

Go VIP Center President and CEO Julie M. Estares said the partnership with Bayad is aligned with their mission to deliver innovative and convenient financial solutions to Filipinos.

“By integrating Bayad's payment collection system into our services, we can enhance the convenience and accessibility of bill payments for our customers, further streamlining their financial transaction,” she said.

For his part, Bayad President and CEO Lawrence Y. Ferrer said the partnership aims to provide customers with more accessible physical touchpoints for bills payment.

“Partnering with Go VIP Center continuously inspires us to rethink the level of convenience we can provide to the customers that we both serve. This is why we’re proactively expanding our biller ecosystem as we maximize a one-stop-shop payment experience especially for our kababayans who are always on the go. Our goal has always been centered on elevating the financial experience of Filipinos,” he said.

A wholly owned unit of Meralco, Bayad enables partners to attain nationwide presence and provides end-to-end support services for efficient payment and collection processing.

Change Make Her: The Coca-Cola Foundation Joins Forces with Microloan Platform Kiva to Support up to 45,000 Entrepreneurs Around The World Including the Philippines

The Coca-Cola Foundation has announced its support for Change Make Her, a new five-year partnership with microloan nonprofit Kiva to improve financial access for under-represented entrepreneurs around the world.
The announcement was made at the Coca-Cola “Level the Playing Field” DEI Summit in Sydney as the company builds on its long legacy of support for the FIFA Women’s World CupTM. Coca-Cola continues to work with influential partners around the world in a broader push for progress for women and under-represented groups across business and society.

Kiva is best-known for its global lending platform, which provides a simple way to connect lenders with borrowers through crowdfunding microfinance. This is an effective strategy to help get loans to people who would not otherwise have access to commercial bank services.

Over the next five years, Change Make Her will act as a revolving loan fund, supporting entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia, South Pacific, Africa, Latin America and Europe across a number of impact areas, including sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, water and retail.

Saadia Madsbjerg, president of The Coca-Cola Foundation, said repayments from borrowers will return to the fund, allowing funding to be loaned and re-loaned to borrowers around the world. This structure will allow a $1.1 million grant in 2023 to have up to a $4.5 million impact on loan volume by 2028.

“We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Kiva, which goes beyond traditional forms of giving,” Madsbjerg said. “By joining forces with like-minded lenders and partners from around the world, the Change Make Her fund will enable us to lend, and relend, alongside thousands of others. It is a partnership based on a shared belief in the power of access to finance to uplift communities.

“Micro-enterprises are important contributors to job creation and global economic development,” Madsbjerg said. “We hope that in addition to directly supporting entrepreneurs, Change Make Her will create a ripple effect for generations to come as these entrepreneurs go on to create new jobs and drive prosperity in their communities.”

Over the past 17 years, Kiva has deployed over $2 billion to 4.7 million borrowers globally, more than any other crowdfunding platform. More than 80% of Kiva loans go to women, with a 96% repayment rate. In the Philippines, Kiva has provided loans of over $185,000 or nearly P10.5M to more than 587,000 borrowers across the country.

SM advocates for water security and conservation through sustainable initiatives


The SM Group
extends social good with a rainwater harvesting system in the newly established Birthing Facility at Brgy. Irawan in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Its social good arm SM Foundation, recently established a rainwater harvesting system at the Brgy. Irawan Birthing Facility in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. The initiative is one of many SM programs developed in response to the growing need to promote water conservation, water security, and the diversification of water supply in the country.

This enhanced rainwater harvesting system with an 800-liter storage capacity allows for better water conservation and management in the facility. It collects rainwater from the facility’s roof and gutter, passing it through vinyl-coated mesh filters that ensure a water quality that is safe enough to serve non-potable needs, such as watering plants, cleaning, and toilet flushing.

Following its success in Palawan, SM Foundation is expanding this feature in its upcoming health centers in Laguna, Baguio, and Cebu.

This enhanced rainwater harvesting system with an 800-liter storage capacity allows for better water conservation and management in the facility.

With an El Niño period anticipated to impact the Philippines in the coming months, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has been urging the government, the private sector, and the Filipino public to take active measures to ensure the country’s water security. SM has been recycling water since the 1990s, or an average of 946 Million gallons of water annually, and in line with the SM Green Movement, has been continuously working towards responsible consumption and water conservation through SM Supermalls.

SM Supermalls has adopted the rainwater catchment system in 25 malls in flood-prone areas, collecting rainwater and helping neighboring communities keep safe and flood-free. These basins can catch and store a total of 79,257 cubic meters of rainwater, equivalent to almost 32 Olympic-size swimming pools.

In SM City Baguio, SM goes one step further by launching the first-ever water filtration system, turning collected rainwater into potable water that is safe for drinking. This allows the mall to become a self-reliant water source, lessening its dependence on the water supply of the Baguio community.

SM recycles up to 946 Million gallons of water annually across SM malls and has recently launched the first-ever water filtration system, turning collected rainwater into potable water at SM City Baguio.

“Given the government’s call to action to conserve water and diversify water sources to prevent water insecurity caused by climate change, we at SM consider ourselves at the forefront of supporting this advocacy. SM Supermalls has been actively designing and operating our malls with resource efficiency and conservation in mind,” said Engr. Liza B. Silerio, SM Supermalls Vice President for Corporate Compliance and SM Cares Program Director for the Environment.
