Manila, Philippines HUAWEI forwards its global movement to inspire communities to live healthier lifestyles as it brings its ‘Active Rings’ initiative to the Philippines. This marks the next major stop in HUAWEI’s worldwide series of high-energy fitness events across the globe.

As part of its ‘Active Rings’ fitness campaign, HUAWEI is partnering with renowned running events organizer RUNRIO to host a community run event. Happening on June 28 at Block 20, SM Mall of Asia Complex, the event will serve as a celebration of movement, fitness, and joy powered by HUAWEI’s innovative technology.

‘Active Rings,’ a fresh take on HUAWEI’s successful ‘Light Up Your Rings’ campaign, redefines how the community connects with their health. It invites people of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels to stay active anywhere, anytime, and anyway, not for perfection, but for joy, consistency, and personal progress.

HUAWEI encourages users everywhere to participate in the global movement with city-specific workouts. Some cities that have participated in the movement included Berlin, Paris, Mexico City, Shenzhen, and Madrid.

Run to Triumph with HUAWEI Wearables

The community run event will also spotlight HUAWEI wearable innovations, including the newly-released HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Series. HUAWEI’s wearable devices feature the smart activity rings, which are designed to motivate users to keep moving throughout the day in order to meet their fitness goals. The blue ring reflects users’ movement, the yellow ring tracks workouts or aerobic activities, while the red ring shows the calories users burned. Every completed ring is a mini victory. Together, they build a sustainable rhythm of movement, strength, and self-care.

During the event, participants will get to put HUAWEI’s wearable devices to the test by wearing the smartwatches while running. Participants will be challenged to close out the activity rings during their run. More than a test of endurance, the community run event will showcase the unifying spirit of HUAWEI’s ‘Active Rings’ initiative. The event provides Filipinos a chance to be part of a movement that’s transforming how the world stays active.

Brad Pitt on ‘F1 The Movie’: ‘It’s Everything on so Many Levels’

“I still don’t know how we got away with it,” says Oscar winner Brad Pitt about how he, alongside producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joseph Kosinski, made “F1 The Movie,” which Pitt describes as “the most visceral driving experience that’s ever been put on film.”

And what they got away with was putting Pitt and his fellow actor Damson Idris into professional race cars and filming them at top speeds. “The forces in these cars – the high-speed corners – the physics of it all want to rip your head from your shoulders. It’s shocking what these cars can do – and it’s a high unlike any high I’ve ever experienced before. We just couldn’t capture it any other way.

In “F1 The Movie,” Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, dubbed “the greatest that never was” and FORMULA 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition – and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.

Pitt says that the magic of the movie is the way it will appeal equally to longtime fans of the sport and to anyone who’s never even heard of Formula 1. “Threading that needle was the biggest challenge, but I think we’ve done that – made it enlightening enough and understandable for newcomers without dumbing it down for ultra fans. It’s funny, it’s aggressive, it’s driving, and it’s surprisingly heartwarming. I love all these characters. I think this film is so damn entertaining on so many levels.”

Before Pitt and Idris learned to drive at nearly 200 miles per hour, and before the film production fully integrated itself into multiple global races comprising one of the biggest traveling sports in the world, “F1 The Movie” began when “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski approached legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer with the idea. “What Joe wanted was authenticity. He wanted to make the best racing movie ever made,” says Bruckheimer.

For Kosinski, the idea was sparked by two ideas that came together for him. The first was his fanship of “Drive to Survive,” the hugely successful F1 docuseries. “What really struck me about the first season was that it focused not on the most famous names and teams, but the teams at the back of the pack. That was a story that was very ripe for a film – underdogs who are struggling to get into the top ten, or even survive as a team,” he says.

The second idea involved a driver a little further up the field. “I happen to have the email of Lewis Hamilton,” he says. Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, a legendary figure who inspires on the track and off, had briefly considered taking a role in “Top Gun: Maverick.” “I sent an email to Lewis just saying, ‘I want to make a film in this world. I want it to be the most authentic racing film ever. Would you be interested in helping me to do that?’ And he said yes.”

That authenticity was what intrigued Hamilton. “From the beginning, Joe and Jerry talked about how important the authenticity is,” recalls Hamilton, “not only for the new fans that we’ll gain from this movie, but for old fans, like myself, who have grown up with it since we were walking. The focus has been to make sure that it is as authentic a racing movie has ever been.” With Hamilton’s yes, they were literally off to the races.

Hosted by media personalities Aiyana Perlas and Noel Blanco, the event opened with a lively introduction and warm energy that set the tone for an afternoon filled with entertainment, innovation, and inspiration. In her welcoming remarks, Ms. Angeli Patricio, Senior Marketing Manager of Haier Philippines, emphasized that the Mini LED TV represents more than just another product in the lineup—it embodies Haier’s ongoing commitment to creating smarter, more connected homes for the Filipino market. “We’re not just unveiling a new television,” she said, “we’re presenting a smarter way of living.” 

Echoing this sentiment, Ms. Apple Ma, Marketing Head of Abenson, expressed Abenson’s pride in being Haier’s exclusive partner for the product launch. She shared that Abenson remains focused on helping families upgrade their entertainment experience and was thrilled to bring this innovative new TV to Filipino households. “It’s about pushing the boundaries of how we see, hear, and experience the world from our living rooms,” she said.

A major highlight of the afternoon was the official unveiling of the Haier Mini LED TV, led by Mr. Xuhong Yan, CEO & President of Haier Philippines, along with Ms. Joy De Leon from Abenson. As the screen lit up with stunning clarity and vivid colors, guests witnessed the real-time capabilities of the Haier Mini LED TV—designed with True Color Pro technology for superior color accuracy, ultra-fine contrast from mini LED backlighting, and powerful AI integration for smart home compatibility. 


Product Manager Mr. Jayden followed the unveiling with an in-depth presentation detailing the television’s cutting-edge features. These include 4K HDR resolution, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for cinema-quality viewing and sound, Game Mode Pro for responsive, lag-free gameplay, and voice-activated controls through built-in AI. The presentation demonstrated how Haier continues to redefine the home entertainment experience through innovation and user-focused design. Adding excitement and insight to the event were special appearances by celebrities and influencers. OPM icon Chito Miranda, gaming content creator Cherizawa, and lifestyle personality Shanaia Gomez all shared how the Haier Mini LED TV fits into their everyday lives—whether for music, gaming, or smart home living—highlighting its immersive visuals, smart features, and stylish design. 

Further adding credibility to the event, respected tech reviewer Peter of GizGuide provided a technical breakdown of the TV’s performance and specs. He praised the mini LED backlighting, Dolby integration, and AI-powered UI, calling it a strong contender in the premium TV market. “This isn’t just a display—it’s a digital hub for your home,” he stated during his presentation. 

The event also featured elegant performances, including a live violinist interlude, engaging raffle draws, and a dedicated demo zone where guests could experience the Haier Mini LED TV firsthand. Media and partners had the opportunity to ask questions, take photos, and interact with Haier executives in an exclusive media interview segment after the main program. 

In his closing speech, Mr. Xuhong Yan reaffirmed Haier’s long-term commitment to pushing innovation and delivering value-driven technology to Filipino consumers. “This launch is just the beginning,” he noted. “We are building a smarter, brighter future—one home at a time.”
