The Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF) will be featuring the transformative solutions of the Magsaysay laureates to champion Inclusive Education.
The whole month of February, this will highlight some of the Ramon Magsaysay awardees’ solutions in “ensuring that all learners have access to quality education that meets basic learning needs, respects diversity, and enriches their lives” and their communities.
Keep tabs as RMAF features 10 specific solutions for achieving Inclusive Education from Jose V. Aguilar, the Asian Institute of Management, the Asian Institute of Technology, Fei Xiaotong, Hermenegild Joseph Fernandez, Noboru Iwamura, Hasanain Juaini, Bienvenido Lumbera, Ohm Dae-Sup, and Bienvenido Lumbera.
The awardees championing Inclusive Education came from an array of backgrounds and their solutions targeted different aspects of education. Some focused on primary education, literacy, medium of instruction, better formal and informal educational systems, specialized training courses, alternative learning systems and techniques, cultural bases of education, and research.
Aside from the 10 listed above, many other awardees have effective solutions under Inclusive Education. Among them are Benjamin Abadiano, Fazle Abed, Christopher and Ma. Victoria Bernido, Welthy Fisher, Hans B. Jassin, Noman Khan, Pedro Orata, Mahabi Pun, James Reuter, Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Shantha Sinha, Sombath Somphone, Wu Ta-you, Prateep Ungsongtham Hata, Keo Viphakone, and Mechai Viravaidya. Many other awardees work directly and indirectly towards ensuring that all learners can educate themselves.

This project is part of the Magsaysay Institute for Transformative Leadership’s (MITL) focus on ISSUES: Inclusive Education, Sustainable Environment and Food Security, Social Enterprise and Rural Livelihood, Universal Healthcare, Ethical Governance, and Social Justice and Peace Building. MITL aims to provide successful examples of solutions to the complex problems of Asia from its rich repository of knowledge and to connect solutions that will benefit the whole region.
