It’s going to be another slammin’ and bangin’ weekend for Kapamilya sports fans as ABS-CBN S+A delivers the biggest sporting events from local and international basketball to mixed martial arts, European club football, and eSports.
Alab Pilipinas goes for another streak
Firing off all the intense action on Saturday (January 20) will be the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) match between the CSL Knights Indonesia and Tanduay-Alab Pilipinas, airing LIVE from the GOT Kertajaya Surabaya in Indonesia on S+A and S+A HD starting at 8 pm. Fans can expect ABL reigning MVP Bobby Ray Parks and world import Justin Brownlee to lead Alab Pilipinas in getting another winning streak going after their huge win against one of the league’s best scoring teams, Thailand’s Mono Vampire basketball club last Sunday (January 14). Alab’s 114-87 beating of the 2015 Thailand Basketball League champion and current number two team in the ABL, surely sent a warning to the other teams in the ABL on what coach Jimmy Alapag’s boys can do to their opponents.
Catalan aims for 1st Pinoy win in ONE Championship for 2018
After the hardcourt action, we head into the cage as ONE Championship’s latest fight card, dubbed “Kings of Courage,” goes LIVE from the Jakarta Convention Center in Indonesia this Saturday (January 20) at 10 pm. On the line for the card’s main event will be the inaugural Women’s Strawweight World Championship which will be contested by Singapore’s unbeaten Tiffany “No Chill” Teo (7-0, 2 KOs) and China’s Jingnan “The Panda” Xiong (10-1, 7KOs). Meanwhile, Filipino Rene Catalan (3-2) looks to open the year on a winning note for the Pinoy fighters when he goes up against Chinese fighter Xuen Peng (1-1) in the undercard.
EPL and La Liga fever continues
On the other hand, things will heat up in England on Sunday (January 21) as Manchester City and Manchester United take on different foes to improve their respective standings in the EPL table. The Sky Blues will take the field first in Etihad Stadium against a visiting Newcastle side, as they try to further their lead which stands at 12 points clear of the Red Devils, LIVE on S+A at 1:25 am. Meanwhile, Man U’s match against Burnley will be telecast right after the Man City-Newcastle tiff at 3:30 am.

From world-class football, fans can shift to elite basketball action with the Golden State Warriors facing off once more with the Houston Rockets in what can be a preview of the Western Conference Playoffs this Sunday (January 21), with the game airing LIVE at 9:30 am on S+A and S+A HD. The last time the two teams went at each other, the Warriors’ swiss-army knife star Draymond Green dropped a triple-double in a 124-114 victory. Replays of the game will be aired at 12 nn.
eSports arrives on free TV
Last but not the least, is the groundbreaking LIVE airing of the “Galaxy Battles: Emerging Worlds” DoTA 2 tournament finals later in the afternoon at 3 pm LIVE from the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
