This religious holiday commemorates the Immaculate Conception of Mary, as Principal Patroness of the Philippines. It was first declared as a Special Non-Working Holiday through Republic Act. No. 10966, approved on December 28, 2017.
Immaculate Conception Day, marks the day Virgin Mary is conceived in the womb of her mother, Saint Anne. It is considered one of the most important celebrations in the Roman Catholic Church’s Liturgical Year, so much so that it is also known as the “Holy Day of Obligation.” The religious holiday is celebrated by processions, parades, and feasts to honor the Virgin Mary.
