UNIQLO Releases Four New Designs for PEACE FOR ALL Charity T-shirt Project

New collection from four popular collaborators available from December 16

Global apparel retailer UNIQLO today announces the global launch of four new designs for PEACE FOR ALL, the charity T-shirt project from UT (UNIQLO T-shirt). This latest collection features special graphics from collaborators with a close connection to UNIQLO such as Peanuts as well as a design with an original photo taken by the world-renowned film director Wim Wenders.

As with earlier collections, UNIQLO parent company Fast Retailing will continue to donate 100% of profits from the sale of the T-shirts (equivalent to 20% of the selling price) to three international aid organizations - UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Save the Children, and Plan International - who provide assistance to people impacted by poverty, discrimination, violence and conflict.

UNIQLO first introduced the PEACE FOR ALL project on June 17, 2022, with the concept that a T-shirt can help make the world a better place. As of September, a total of more than 484,000 T-shirts have been sold, raising more than US $1M (calculation period through August 31).

So far, 20 collaborators who support the project’s aim of “praying sincerely for world peace and taking action” have volunteered their time and effort to create one-of-a-kind, original design T-shirts.

The five new UTs will be available for purchase from Friday, December 16th.

PEACE FOR ALL New Collection Collaborator Comments and Profiles

WIM WENDERS (Film Director)

I never saw more horizon in my life than on that day in the West-Australian desert. And at the very end of that road, I was sure, behind the horizon, we could only find a peaceful future.

Wim Wenders is one of the most acclaimed film directors of our time, who won the Palm D’Or for PARIS, TEXAS, and more than 20 awards worldwide for WINGS OF DESIRE. His documentaries have received three Oscar nominations, and he was lately honored with the Praemium Imperiale. His photographs have been exhibited in museums all over the world.

KEITH HARING (Artist)

© Keith Haring Foundation. Licensed by Artestar, New York.

The late Keith Haring created this artwork as a sign of global peace. It was meant to signify people all over the world coming together to stand for peace on earth.

A key figure in New York’s East Village scene toward the end of the 1970s and 80s, the American artist Keith Haring’s artwork populated not only art galleries, but also the city’s subways, streets, and sidewalks. His work often combined an iconographic vocabulary, including hearts, flying saucers, winged figures, and a crawling “radiant baby,” with abstract marks and patterning.

PEANUTS (Comics)

©2023 Peanuts Worldwide LLC

The group of friends who inhabit the world of Peanuts display a wide range of personalities: bold, nervous, romantic, curious, thoughtful, and adventurous. What unites them is their friendships and sense of community. For decades, the characters have resonated with fans for displaying all the elements of humanity. This design captures both the love the characters have for one another and the love that Peanuts inspires around the world.

Charles M. Schulz, the creator of the comic strip Peanuts, drew 17,897 strips over the course of half a century from 1950 (the year of the comic’s initial syndication in seven US newspapers) to his death in 2000.

LISA LARSON (Ceramicist)

© LISA LARSON

The picture speaks of unconditional friendship and trust. The vulnerable girl sits on the back of a wild beast. We have to trust in Peace and choose the path of Peace. The lion symbolizes strength, loyalty, and bravery. It takes bravery to turn against violence. To protect the young girl means protecting the future of the human race. Trust is not being afraid. Peace is strength.

Born in 1931 in Härlunda in the province of Småland in the south of Sweden. In 1954, she began working for Gustavsberg porcelain. Later, as the company’s star designer, she became a mainstay of the golden age of Swedish ceramics. In 1980, Larson left the company to work as a freelance designer. In 1992, she co-founded Keramikstudion Gustavsberg. Full of life, Lisa continues to make new designs for production, and unique (one-off) ceramic pieces.

UNIQLO believes that T-shirts have the power to express the ideas of the wearer, as well as elicit empathy and spread messages broadly. To help create a peaceful future, UNIQLO actively engages with individuals who support the PEACE FOR ALL project and dedicates space in its stores around the world to remind customers of all the people who need assistance.

Anyone can join the call for peace by wearing their favorite PEACE FOR ALL UT, and UNIQLO looks forward to a successful continuation of the project.

Canva releases new women in the workplace photography to celebrate International Women’s Day

Design platform, Canva, is celebrating International Women’s Day by releasing a new collection of design templates and free stock photography, featuring its very own Canva employees who volunteered as models.

The photoshoot, titled Canva Studio Women, showcases Canva’s women at work, building on this year’s theme of #GenerationEquality which highlights the importance of a collective effort to forge a path towards gender equality.

Canva studio curator Elle Hughes explains the inspiration behind this special collection.

“With over 70% of women feeling underrepresented in everyday images in the media, our new stock photography collection aims to shine a light on the amazing diversity of women in the workplace.

“We have so many talented women in Canva — what better to showcase a diverse team than through a fun photoshoot — and then giving it away as a completely free stock photo collection?” she added.

Yani Hornilla-Donato, country manager of Canva Philippines added, “Since inception, Canva has placed a key focus on diversity and inclusion. Having our employees in the Manila office be part of this shows how committed we are to empower women and provide them with a platform to freely express themselves.”

Canva has also released an additional 50 design templates, encouraging its design community around the world to celebrate, praise and unite with women this International Women’s Day.

GROHE opens showroom in Makati City

GROHE unveiled its second showroom in the country at Desigño Atelier, 5F Wilcon IT Hub along Pasong Tamo, Makati City through an event entitled Masterworks.

The GROHE SPA showroom presents GROHE’s stylish design universes for bathrooms and kitchens. The relaxed atmosphere of the showroom encourages visitors not only to obtain information on the global brand’s premium offerings but also to touch and test the faucets and actually experience products in real use.

As you enter the space, you will be able to get a glimpse of GROHE’s glorious history spanning 80 years. Represented in the timeline on the wall are corporate milestones and the GROHE global network of six production plants and presence in 130 countries.

Aquazones

The showroom is divided into five zones called Aquazones. Aquazones follow the concept of the thousand year-old Japanese bathing culture in which each step of the bathing experience has a dedicated zone. These perfectly designed zones take on different roles and allow the consumer to fully indulge in each ritual, while already looking forward to the next one. GROHE offers technologies in each of the five zones, allowing consumers to enjoy their personal spa time even more.

The first zone is the Contemplation Zone where you can experience comfort and hygiene from GROHE toilets.

Next is the Preparation Zone – from washing your face, brushing your teeth, applying makeup or even shaving, the Basin Area is central to the daily cleansing routine.

Third is the Rejuvenation Zone where you can combine one or two head showers, a hand shower, a bank of body showers to experience the utmost showering pleasure limited only by your imagination.

Fourth is the Relaxation Zone, which features a Free Standing Bath Tub from Jaxson, the creator of luxury bath tubs and also one of the brands owned by LIXIL WATER TECHNOLOGY. Paired with an elegant GROHE Free Standing Tub Filler, you can enjoy a lingering soak at the end of the day.

Last is the Recreation Zone, which is for quiet reflection – to sip tea, enjoy a glass of water or read a book. Featured here is the GROHE BLUE, which delivers filtered, chilled and sparkling water, straight from the faucet.

Tailor-made Showering

The showroom also features an area that celebrates uniqueness and variety by letting you design your shower according to your own vision of rest, relaxation, regeneration, personal care, design and comfort.

Using GROHE side showers and steam modules you can create your own footh bath. The strategic placement of side showers delivers water pressure that aid in the stimulation of deeper layers of muscles and tissues in the feet and legs to enhance function, generate healing, decrease muscle reflex activity, as well as promote relaxation and relief.

With the GROHE Aquacloud, you can use side showers and light modules to create a horizontal shower, which delivers pampering rain-like water drops while you comfortably rest on a massage bed.

Finally, you can use strategically placed shower heads and side showers to release pressure on key stress points like the neck and shoulders for muscle relief and nerve stimulation.

Design Inspirations

GROHE has an award-winning in-house design team led by Paul Flowers. The team is guided by the GROHE design philosophy and signature elements to ensure that products don’t just look good but feel good, too. In the showroom, you will see bathroom designs using three of the GROHE SPA luxury bathroom fittings.

They are the GROHE Grandera Collection which blends square and circular elements into one harmonious shape. Its smooth geometric lines and classic simplicity are created to combine effortlessly with a wide range of bathroom furnishings.

Next is the GROHE Ondus Collection which offers a dramatic spout that flows out from cylindrical bases. The design is like a crest of a wave and looks ergonomic.

Third is the GROHE Allure Brilliant Collection that is designed around geometric shapes and crisp contours. This collection features a gem-like faceted body with a cut-away detail, to accentuate the flow of water.

Come and Visit

If you are searching for better ways to enhance your bathroom experience, come and visit the GROHE SPA showroom soon. Get the chance to personally experience the GROHE Live Water where you will be able to see and feel how the GROHE basin mixers, hand showers and head showers work.
