Will You Stay a Monster or Will You Stay a Human, Sweet Home Season 2 Teaser Poster Spotlights Hyun-su and His Wing

Netflix has unveiled the teaser poster for Sweet Home Season 2. In a world where desire turns monstrous, Sweet Home Season 2 follows Green Home survivors and Hyun-su all fighting to survive in new places, while otherworldly beings and mysterious phenomena emerge.

In the teaser poster, Hyun-su is featured spreading his spiked wing with the ruined stadium in the background. Helicopters have pinpointed their lights on him, as well as snipers, intensifying the suspense of what will unfold in the new season. Having fought against monsterization and serving as the one hope for Green Home residents, Hyun-su now faces a new dilemma: Will he remain a monster, or a human, in the outside world filled with other monsters?

Song Kang, returning as a more complex and mature Hyun-su, says, “I always yearned for more emotional depth and dramatic elements for my character. Coming back to Sweet Home, I was able to satisfy much of that yearning, delving into more dramatic emotions, as well as allowing me to explore and understand myself and further grow.”

Director Lee Eung-bok further explains that Season 2 “focuses on Hyun-su’s journey after surviving on the brink of despair, highlighting his unwavering determination to not give up on his humanity even until the very end.”

Sweet Home fans have yet to see how Song Kang will portray Hyun-su’s inner struggles between his hope to remain human and accepting monsterization in order to protect other people, as well as his growth and sacrifices in the new season.

Enjoy Lionsgate Play’s roster of suspenseful Asian thrillers at the comfort of your home - Here are 5 Horror Flicks That Will Haunt Your Nightmares

Love Asian Horror?

Here are 5 Horror Flicks That Will Haunt Your Nightmares

Every avid horror movie fan knows that Asian horror is in a league of its own. It’s an artful mix of hair-raising stories rooted in cultural beliefs and traditions, psychological issues, and graphic and violent scenes. Though they have their fair share of jumpscares, they don’t necessarily rely on them like most Western films. Asian horror movies create the creepiest atmospheres that heighten the viewer’s sense of dread and fear. The result? Cult classics that stay with the audience forever. So if you’re looking to spice up your watch parties, press play on these 5 Asian horror flicks available on Lionsgate Play.

Conjuring Spirit (2014)

Conjuring Spirit has solidified everyone’s opinions of ever owning a music box and/or daring to live in decrepit, run-down apartments. The horror flick follows Lan, a novelist who moves to an apartment with her son, Bi, to start a new life. Her landlady gives her a music box and also informs her that her apartment might be haunted by the ghost of a woman who was murdered years ago. Soon, Lan enlists the help of her neighbor, Vu, a budding musician, to solve the mystery and survive the haunting. Aside from having the winning formula for Asian horror flicks (including petrifying jumpscares and an awesome twist to boot), Conjuring Spirit also sprinkles a bit of comedy in an otherwise terrifying film.

Kidan Piece of Darkness (2016)

Kidan Piece of Darkness is an anthology horror film composed of 10 tales based on Japanese author Fuyumi Ono’s best-selling books. The stories are tied together by a woman reading letters from her listeners about their own supernatural experiences. Kidan Piece of Darkness is the perfect watch for horror enthusiasts who want to take a break from full-length horror films but still get the same jaw-dropping, heart-lurching payoff. Ten directors had a hand in bringing Ono’s stories to life, including Mari Asato, who’s best known for directing horror and thriller movies Ju-On: Black Ghost (2009) and Under Your Bed (2019).

Japanese Doll of Terror (2019)

There’s no shortage of horror films about murderous dolls. Japanese Doll of Terror’s take on a familiar plot comes with its own vintage, albeit eerie, charm plus a few twists up its sleeve. It follows university students Yuri and Masato, poised to have the time of their lives at a campground party. But things turn deadly when a cursed doll starts to attack and won’t stop until the whole party is dead.

3AM (2015)

Malaysian anthology horror flick 3AM gives a whole new meaning to an hour we’re collectively wary of, the “devil’s hour.” This 5-part series includes stories sharing the common themes of vengefulness and karmic retribution. Each story is about wrathful spirits turning innocent victims’ lives into a nightmare – a spiteful office spirit, a college student with a dark agenda, a scorned woman out for revenge, friends stuck in a haunted forest never to make it out alive, and a taxi driver-turned-killer. 3AM promises spooks, thrills, and nightmares that are definitely not for the faint of heart.

Ghost Wedding (2021)

Ghost Wedding is inspired by a 3,000-year-old Chinese tradition of a posthumous wedding to appease spirits and ensure their passage in the afterlife. In the movie, Zhi Cheng, a photographer, is haunted by a “woman in red,” and his relatives tragically die,  one by one. After learning about ghost brides, he enlists the help of a friend to investigate the legend. But as they unravel the secret of a “ghost marriage,” the malevolent spirit of the ghost bride will stop at nothing to get her revenge.

The World Loves K-Romance And We Have Six New Series to Make Your Heart Beat Faster

If you have been swept off your feet by the unconventional love story in Crash Landing on You, or melted at the first stirrings of connection in Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Business Proposal, then brace yourselves for a heartbeat-skipping announcement.

Audiences worldwide have been growing fonder of K-Romance, and this affection shows no signs of fading. Between 2018 to 2022, global viewership of Netflix’s K-Romance titles tripled. In 2022 alone, more than 90 per cent of this viewing came from outside South Korea.

We’re moved by the affection, and we’re eager to return it in kind. As the home for compelling K-Romance, Netflix will be introducing six new Korean romance series over the upcoming five months.

For decades, this genre has captivated audiences in Korea and throughout Asia, a testament to the storytelling prowess and production expertise of gifted Korean content creators, observes Don Kang, Vice President of Content (Korea). “We’re genuinely humbled by how our emotive Korean shows have found a home in the hearts of global audiences through Netflix, stretching from the U.S., Europe, South America, and beyond. Our stories touch on the universal aspects of life - love, heartbreak, and tenderness, while also providing a peek into the unique facets of Korean culture. Netflix's commitment to forging this profound global connection is something we're truly excited about.”

“Creators have dedicated themselves to painting the delicate dynamics and evolving emotions of our characters,” adds Wooyeon Yang, Director of Content (Korea). The crafting of the hallmark slow-burning intensity of K-romances, along with their wholesome appeal, shapes an undeniably “endearing genre that strikes a chord with global viewers”, she believes.

Netflix’s investment in subtitling and dubbing has been instrumental in expanding the K-Romance audiences. “The impact has been more profound than we ever imagined,” shares Yang. “Despite the diversity of languages, the common thread of understanding and accessing Korean content seems to be a key strength that has set Netflix as a trendsetter.” Yang underscores the value of dubbing, noting that “listening to dialogues in their own languages helps K-Romance resonate more deeply with viewers worldwide”.

Continuing the world's love for this genre, Netflix’s upcoming K-Romance shows will each have their own distinct features. Here’s a sneak peek at what these new shows have to tell.

See You in My 19th Life (premiering June 17)
Enchanting Heroine Meets Heart-stirring Rom-com Saga

In this spinoff from a hit webtoon, Shin Hye-sun stars as a heroine who can remember all her past lives. As a young girl in her 18th life, she falls for a thoughtful boy next door. In her 19th life, she tries to make her way back to him, only to find he has become a cold man who doesn’t want to get close to anyone. Can love triumph across lifetimes?

King the Land (premiering June 17)
Dream Match Meets Workplace Romance
A wealthy heir cannot stand fake smiles. He meets a girl whose bright smile is part of her job — in one of his family businesses. He immediately dislikes her, writing her off as someone who hides her true self behind a fake smile. Former global K-Pop idols Jun-ho and Yoona team up for the first time as actors in this much-anticipated “enemies to lovers” K-Romance.

Behind Your Touch
Comedy meets Suspense with a Dash of Romance
Rom-com queen Han Ji-min plays a veterinarian in a small town who has a very strange gift of psychometry. When she convinces a detective of her abilities, they team up to solve neighborhood crimes.

Destined with You
The Most Spellbinding K-Couple meets in a Classic K-Romance
K-Romance powerhouses Cho Boa and Rowoon (also a K-Pop idol) combine their star wattage in this sweeping saga. Rowoon plays a hotshot lawyer who has it all, but is haunted by a family curse. And it turns out that the woman who is key to breaking this curse is none other than the seemingly ordinary civil servant played by Cho.

A Time Called You (Premiering in third quarter of 2023)
Stars from Business Proposal and Vincenzo in a time-slip romance
Ahn Hyo-seop (from Business Proposal) and Jeon Yeo-been (from Vincenzo) star in this remake of classic Taiwanese romance Someday or One Day. Jeon’s character travels back in time to 1998 and meets a man played by Ahn, who bears an uncanny resemblance to her late boyfriend. In fact, each lead takes on the challenge of playing two characters who look identical, but have completely different personalities — and all the complications that create when it comes to love.

Doona! (Premiering in fourth quarter of 2023)
K-romance meets K-pop
A college student (Yang Se-jong) navigates life and school while dealing with a unique predicament — he's living with a former K-Pop sensation, played by real-life former K-Pop star Suzy. Their relationship starts out as one of mutual misunderstanding and dislike, and grows over time into one of love and trust. But can their connection withstand the cruel pressures of fame?

A Netflix Series: Black Knight, The One Hope To Overturn The World Main trailer for Black Knight finally Unveiled

Black Knight tells the story of how legendary knight 5-8 and refugee Sa-wol take on the omnipotent Cheonmyeong Group that rules a dystopian Korea ravaged by extreme air pollution, making it uninhabitable without a ventilator.

Dismantling the Crooked World Crafted by Cheonmyeong Group,

Dreaming of an Equal Society

The upcoming series, Black Knight, promises to be an action-packed, adrenaline-fueled adventure that will leave you breathless. The recently released main trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into a post-apocalyptic universe where the Korean peninsula has become a desert wasteland and only one percent of the population clings to life. The devastated look of Seoul seems outright surreal.

The legendary deliveryman 5-8 (Kim Woo-bin) works as a lifeline to mankind, delivering oxygen and other necessities in the daytime. At nightfall, however, he transforms into a Black Knight with a plot to upend the order created by Cheonmyeong Group, the de facto ruler of the devastated world. Ryu Seok (Song Seung-heon), the ruthless heir to Cheonmyeong Group, clashes with 5-8 as he defends his vision of a world with no place for the refugees. Seol-ah (Esom), a major at the Defense Intelligence Command, warns 5-8 that chaos may spiral out of hand, while Sa-wol, a refugee who aspires of becoming a Black Knight, boldly climbs onto 5-8's truck, eager to join the fight.

“That’s exactly what we’re trying to change.”

On top of all the drama is the exhilarating action sequences, including heart-stopping car chases on sand dunes, intense firefights, and expertly choreographed hand-to-hand combat. Director Cho Ui-seok aimed to create “more down-to-earth and lively” scenes compared to the original webtoon. While 5-8 plots to overturn the crooked world order, Ryu Seok’s dark ambitions, Sa-wol’s pursuit of becoming a Black Knight, and Seol-ah’s investigation into the sinister secrets of Cheonmyeong’s dirty secrets are all in play. All eyes are on the expansive universe that Black Knight is set to unveil.

Clear your schedule and prepare to be captivated: Black Knight will be available worldwide on May 12, exclusively on Netflix.
