House of Kipling opens at SM Clark and North Point

The new Kipling concept store is the new home for bag lovers as the House of Kipling opens at SM Clark and North Point.
The House of Kipling will you call it a haven, consider it a hang-out and now you will see and found a new home. This place where shoppers can dwell in the fashion and spirit that has made Kipling bags a well-loved global brand. 

The new concept store applies a domestic approach that elevates the customers’ retail experience. 

Inside the House of Kipling, guests are greeted with warm, homey interiors made from an eclectic mix of natural and clean textures, surrounded by the signature tile wall with the iconic monkey print. The color palette plays along the shades of taupe and greys, plus an occasional pop of orange and pink.

Flemish inspired wall tiles and “Kipling Monkey” table legs bring to life the playful spirit and the European heritage of the brand. 


Nestled on sleek ceramic and wooden frames, drawers and gondolas are the store’s main attraction – the hottest collection of handbags, totes, carry-alls, backpacks and luggage in various shapes, sizes and prints. 

Nearby are clusters of colorful mirrors helping customers envision themselves strutting away with their favorite Kipling bags.

Bright, polychromatic poufs are likewise on hand offering a comfortable seating should customers get a little tired from bag fitting and shopping. 

Reflecting Kipling’s desire to encourage discovery and exploration, the concept store also features a ‘Whimsy Wall’, where ideas, inspirations, special moments, and messages can be posted and shared so the store and customers can connect and become an engaged community.

The House of Kipling has put together all these elements and details to allow shoppers to have a personal and intimate feel of Kipling bags, which will be their companions as they work, play and travel.



But what Kipling Monkey is all about? Here's some history of this what we call, the monkey business.

Kipling brand is named after Rudyard Kipling, the English author of the classic read, “The Jungle Book?” The brand named after an imaginative author who wrote a series of inspiring stories about adventures in a jungle filled with clever animals – monkeys included! To both celebrate this history and represent our fun-loving and adventurous brand the Kipling Monkey was born and is now our furry, little mascot. See "What Does It Take To Become a Fashion Icon?" on March 4

What does it take to become a fashion icon? Let's come and join the country’s well-known personalities from the Philippine fashion industry in a Fashion Forum as they share their thoughts and experiences how Diana Vreeland inspired their personal life and professional careers. 

MEGA FASHION HALL, LIFESTYLE INQUIRER, LOOK MAGAZINE and MyOwn Mann Productions proudly presents  “ WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A FASHION ICON ” – A Fashion Forum about fashion guru Diana Vreeland.

Ms. CHERIE GIL set to play DIANA VREELAND, Fashion's Grand Dame in Full Gallop.

MyOwn Mann Productions, Inc. and Actor’s Actors Inc. proudly announce its offering for March 2014 with “ FULL GALLOP ” a play about fashion doyenne Diana Vreeland. 

Written by Mary Louise Wilson and Mark Hampton, FULL GALLOP focuses on the life of Diana Vreeland, who stood at the center of American style for five decades. As editor of Harper's Bazaar and Vogue magazines, and as a member of the International Cafe Society, Diana chronicled the extraordinary people and events of her time. FULL GALLOP is a portrait of this remarkable woman at a turning point in her life. 

The one-woman play is set in August 1971 at Diana Vreeland’s Park Avenue apartment. She has just returned home to New York after four months in Europe --- a trip she took after being fired from Vogue magazine. She throws an impromptu dinner party in the hope that a wealthy friend who is invited will bankroll her in starting a magazine of her own. Other friends, however, attempt to persuade her to take a job at the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art. In her distinctive style, once she decides in which direction her life will move, she goes at it "full gallop. " 

In a casting coup, Cherie Gil lends her range and patrician demeanor to the woman who was a major force in shaping culture, style, taste and even language for all time. In a play that is both funny and poignant, FULL GALLOP explores the brilliance of a woman at a crossroads, for whom life can only be lived as a constant parade of adventures. 

Cherie Gil first made her name in what are now cinema classics from the 80’s such as Peque Gallaga’s “Oro, Plata, Mata”; Elwood Perez’s “Problem Child” and Emmanuel 

Borlaza’s “Bituing Walang Ningning”. She then moved on to television, starring in countless TV series, specializing in playing villainesses and strong-willed women. 

In the 2000’s, Cherie discovered the stage and surprised the theater-going public with her versatility and technical proficiency. She essayed such roles as Sister Aloysius in John Patrick Shanley’s “Doubt”, Lilline La Fleur in Kopit and Yeston’s musical “Nine” and Maria Callas in Terence Macnally’s “Master Class” for which she received numerous citations for her vivid and unforgettable tour de force performance. Truly a consummate tri-media artist/personality, Cherie has recently produced her first movie, “Sonata”, directed by Peque Gallaga. 

Co-presented by Inquirer Lifestyle, Look Magazine, and The Peninsula Manila in cooperation with Antonio’s Tagaytay, Facial Care Center, The Love Garden, Businessworld, HerWord.com, WhenInManila.com, and Rappler.com, FULL GALLOP is set to open with a gala night premiere on March 14 with regular performances on March 15 and 21 at 8:00 p.m. and on March 16 and 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. (matinee) at the Carlos P. Full Gallop will have the special participation of Ms. Giselle Tongi. The creative team of FULL GALLOP is composed of Bart Guingona (Director), Joey Mendoza (Set Designer), John Batalla (Lighting Designer), Rajo Laurel (Costume Designer), and Ruben Nazareth (Hair and Make-up). 

The creative team for the FULL GALLOP photoshoot are Joan Bitagcol (Photo), Sandy, Higgins, Mark Higgins, Michael Salientes (Styling), Mark and Sandy Higgins (art direction), and Fanny Serrano (Hair and Make-up). 

Full Gallop is presented by special arrangement with Josef Weinberger Plays Limited, London. 

For the March 14 gala night, ticket prices are at Php3,000 orchestra center; Php2,000 for orchestra side and loge; and Php1,000 for balcony inclusive of cocktail food and wine provided by Antonio’s Tagaytay. Part of the proceeds from this gala event will go to Virlanie Foundation’s project of building houses in Negros areas that were affected by Typhoon Yolanda.

Epson’s Moverio to Be Used to Test Opera Subtitle Delivery System


Seiko Epson Corporation (SEC) is partnering with the Japanese New National Theatre Foundation (NNTF),Information Services International - Dentsu, Ltd., and Zimaku+ Inc. to test an opera subtitle delivery system. The system will be tested from February 28 to March 2 during performances by the New National Theatre Opera Studio in Japan. Selected guests will be able to follow the performances with subtitles projected onto the see-through lenses of Epson's new Moverio BT-200 smartglasses.

Operas are commonly sung in Italian or German, so opera houses often install large LED displays in front of the stage wings to provide subtitles during performances. The problem with these systems, however, is that operagoers have a hard time immersing themselves in the performance because they are constantly taking their eyes off the stage to read the subtitles.

Epson and its partners have created and will test the practical potential of a more convenient subtitle system that they hope solves this problem. The new system takes advantage of the ability of the Epson Moverio BT-200, which can be worn like an ordinary pair of glasses, to display subtitles seemingly in the air while guests watch the action on the stage. Moverio BT-200 smartglasses will be loaned to selected guests who want a more natural opera viewing experience with line-of-sight subtitles.

The roles of the four parties in the demonstration are as follows: 

Epson 
Epson will provide Moverio BT-200 smartglasses.

New National Theatre, Tokyo (NNTT) 
The NNTT Opera Studio will present a production of Ariadne auf Naxos for three days, from February 28 to March 2.

Information Services International - Dentsu (ISID) 
ISID will provide "potaVee," an area-limited, Wi-Fi multicasting platform that delivers subtitles that are synchronized with the opera. ISID also created a subtitle app for the Moverio BT-200.

Zimaku+ 
Zimaku+ will produce the subtitles for the opera, provide and run the server used to deliver the subtitles, and manage the test during the sessions.

Epson believes that the Moverio's binocular, transparent display and hands-free navigation give it the potential to transform the way people experience and interact with the world around them. The Moverio technology platform can serve as a foundation for the development of new visual tools in a wide variety of consumer and commercial fields.
