“Holiday Christmas Royale” at SM City Manila

SM City Manila kicks-off the Christmas season with its “Holiday Christmas Royale” themed Christmas centerpiece lighting event at the Event Center, Upper Ground Level, November 7, 2020. 

Adorned with giant bells and hundreds of Christmas balls, the 25 feet tall giant Christmas tree is a sight to behold and a celebration of the holiday season. 

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, together with SM City Manila kicked off the Christmas season with its “Holiday Music Royale” themed Christmas centerpiece lighting event at the Event Center, Upper Ground Level, last November 7, 2020. The 25 feet tall giant Christmas tree is a sight to behold and a celebration of the holiday season.

True to this year’s message, the event is a reminder to shoppers that shoppers will steel feel the warmth and happiness that the Christmas season brings despite of the challenges that this year has, dahil ngayong Pasko, sama- sama tayo sa SM Supermalls. 

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna  were at the event and hosted by TV personality and Lifestyle Blogger Valerie Roxas Tan and with performances from Los Cantantes de Manila, an international award-winning choir group as well as Violet Ocampo, a Tawag ng Tanghalan finalist. 

The event also highlights SM’s its annual Bears of Joy project which enables shoppers to purchase a pair of frontliner toy bears for P200- one they can keep and the other will be donated to SM City Manila’s chosen group. The Bears of Joy Booth is located at the Event Center, UGL. 

This year, SM City Manila will endorse the donated bears to the frontliners of Manila Medical Center. Aside from the Bears of Joy project, the spirit of sharing is amplified with the #ShareHopeWithSM Promo where shoppers have the chance to nominate frontliners for them to have a chance to get SM gift certificates. 

SM City Manila also continues to open its doors in support to MSMEs. Shoppers may visit the Christmas Market at Upper Ground Level near Event Center where locally-sourced products and goods are available. This effort in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry’s Buy Local, Go Lokal aims to help local businesses restart and recover. 

The event’s main highlight, the Christmas tree lighting,  preceded with a countdown and a ceremonial ringing of the bell by Mayor Isko Moreno, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and SM Executives, an act that aims to signify bouncing back better and stronger together.

 

This year's event is a reminder to shoppers of the warmth and happiness that the Christmas season brings despite of the challenges that this year has, dahil #SamaSamaTayoSaPaskoAtSM.

 

 

 

Kokoy De Santos gets stuck in love triangle between Barbie Imperial and Alex Diaz in iWant TFC’s “Oh, Mando”

Oh, Mando! is a Philippine streaming television series that premiered on iWantTFC on November 5, 2020. The series stars Kokoy de Santos, Alex Diaz and Barbie Imperial. Directed by Eduardo Roy Jr. and produced by Dreamscape Entertainment together with Found Films.

Kokoy  experiences the highs and lows of young love while coming to terms with his sexuality in the new original romantic comedy series in “Oh, Mando.” 

The series is a coming out and coming-of-age tale about Mando (Kokoy), a hopeless romantic and charming college boy who has long suppressed his attraction to boys.

Despite his confusion over his sexuality, Mando is charmed by the beautiful and liberated Krisha (Barbie) when they meet in a school play. They eventually enter into a relationship, while Mando continues to hide his secret from his girlfriend.

As Mando starts developing real feelings for Krisha, he experiences love at first sight when he meets a handsome, out and proud gay basketball jock named Barry (Alex).

This begins Mando's path to self-discovery, as he becomes torn between doing the right thing for his current relationship with Krisha and following his heart's desire by choosing Barry. 

“Oh, Mando” is directed by Eduardo Roy Jr., the director of award-winning movies “Pamilya Ordinaryo,” “Lola Igna,” “Bahay Bata,” “Quick Change,” and “F#*@BOIS.”

‘Kapit-Pinas’ to raise funds for typhoon victims

In just three weeks, the Philippines has been devastated by two strong typhoons, Quinta and Rolly, which affected hundreds of thousands of our kababayans most especially in Luzon. This prompted over 100 youth organizations from the Kapit-Mindanao network to join forces once again and organize an online and offline bayanihan effort called Kapit-Pinas, which aims to raise funds and in-kind donations for the typhoon victims.

 

Convened by advocacy-based group Millennials PH and the Kapit-Mindanao network, the campaign will be running from November 1 to 30, 2020. People can course their cash donations online or drop off in-kind goods at designated points. The campaign will benefit 12 target areas that were badly affected by the onslaught of these typhoons, namely, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Catanduanes, Marinduque, Quezon, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Batangas, Cavite, and Laguna.

“Imagine the struggle of facing two super typhoons during a time when our country has yet to beat the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a call for me and the team to work on another #SocialMediaBayanihan campaign because we need each other now more than ever and youth-led organizations must continuously collaborate to help those who are affected by these disasters,” said Meryl Hilda Jalani, national president of Millennials PH and Kapit-Mindanao co-founder and national convenor.

The campaign was already able to raise PHP 735,000 which is a combination of cash and in-kind donations from its partners, Tanging Yaman Foundation and Premium Megastructures, Inc., three days after the launch last November 2, 2020.

The fund and relief packs obtained through Kapit-Pinas will be distributed through community-based groups located in the above-mentioned areas that have their own disaster response initiatives in line with the requirements of their communities. Some of the needs include food items like canned goods, instant noodles, water; hygiene and dignity kits; and shelter materials. The first wave of relief distribution will begin on November 7, 2020, in Albay.

Banking on the original battle cry of the Kapit-Mindanao campaign, “Aabutin natin ang bawat sulok ng Mindanao,” the network has now expanded from reaching the unreached in Mindanao to helping disaster-stricken brothers and sisters in Luzon. With this, “Aabutin natin ang iba’t ibang sulok ng Pilipinas” is now its goal.
