Brother Philippines officially certified by Great Place To Work

Staying true to its constant mission to giving Filipinos with a healthy and positive work environment while also providing customers with reliable and high-quality printing products and solutions, Brother Philippines has officially been certified by international workplace culture authority Great Place To Work.

Great Place To Work conducted its survey and assessment of Brother Philippines earlier this year, mainly polling associates on trust, pride in their work, and camaraderie—metrics that comprise the core of what makes a workplace good, in which the company ranked high. The certification is effective from May 2021 until May 2022.

The survey found that 88% of Brother Philippines associates say that the company is a great place to work, compared to 53% of employees in a typical company. The results also showed that 99% of employees felt that management was competent at running the business, 97% felt good about how the company gave back to the community, 97% agreed that special events were celebrated at work, 96% felt that Brother was a safe place to work, and 96% were confident that they had the right resources and equipment for their job.

Various Brother associates also gave their testimonies as part of the survey, primarily citing a supportive and family-like workplace culture that allows them to grow. Brother’s handling of the pandemic situation, in which the company provided employees with medical assistance, incentives, and bonuses, was also praised.

“The environment we work in is a balance of work and fun, responsibility and reward,” said Grace Vizconde, General Manager of Finance and Administration at Brother, in her testimony for Great Place To Work. “We also work as a family, looking after each other, not just in the Philippines but also globally.”

Kyle Echarri shows growth as songwriter, music producer in “New Views” album

A major shift from his debut album in 2016, the young artist personally wrote and composed all seven original tracks included in the album.

Kyle Echarri is welcoming a fresh era in his music journey with the release of his second full-length album “New Views,” out now on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and other digital music platforms.

"'New Views' because I'm turning 18 and I think it's time for people to see my new views on life, who I am as a person, and new views on my love life, stuff like that," he shared.

A major shift from his debut album in 2016, the young artist personally wrote and composed all seven original tracks included in the album from ABS-CBN’s Star Pop label, and was also heavily involved in the production of most of the songs. Label head Rox Santos served as the album's supervising producer.

"I can say mismong puso ko na siya, it's part of my heart kasi I was able to write the whole thing and produce the whole thing. Sinadya ko talaga kasi I really wanted the fans to feel my heart," Kyle said.

Its key track “Liligawan Na Kita” is a writing collaboration between Kyle and his “Huwag Kang Mangamba” co-stars Seth Fedelin and Andrea Brillantes. The song, produced by Kyle and co-performed by Seth, talks about one’s willingness to wait and court someone very special.

Kyle’s 2020 single “I’m Serious” is also included in the album’s track list along with “Dyosa” which was produced by JayR. Other tracks such as “Mahal Nga Kita” featuring rapper Arvey, “Panaginip,” which is currently featured in the original soundtrack (OST) of anthology series “Click, Like, Share,” “As Long As You’re Mine,” and “Fuego,” which he co-wrote with close friend Darren Espanto—were all self-produced by Kyle.

Meanwhile, in time for his 18th birthday and as a show of gratitude to his fans who have supported him throughout his six years in the entertainment industry, Kyle is set to hold a digital birthday fan con on Sunday (June 20), 7 pm via his kumu account (@echarripapi). Fans can also expect live performances of the “New Views” tracks during the virtual event.

Huawei Mobile Services Launches AppsUP App Contest for the Second Year with US$200,000 Cash Prizes in Asia Pacific lauds PH teams who won last year

Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) launched AppsUP 2021, its global annual app innovation contest today. This year’s Asia Pacific (APAC) edition will see contestants across the region pit their skills and talents to win from a prize pool of US$200,000. Interested applicants can register their entry from 10 June to 20 August.

The contest, which aims to inspire and support developers in adopting and integrating HMS Core Kits to create innovative apps, will be run separately across five regions, including APAC, Europe, Latin America, Mainland China and Middle East and Africa.

This year’s APAC edition will feature ten award categories – the Best App, Best Game, Best Social Impact Award, Honorable App Award and Most Popular App Award; as well as new categories including AppGallery Rising Star Award, Best Fintech Innovation Award, Best HMS Core Innovation Award, Excellent Student Award and Tech Women’s Award. Twenty outstanding apps will be selected based on their social value, business value, user experience and innovativeness.

Participating developers in APAC can look forward to an expanded array of technical support, including workshops with hands-on coaching from Huawei’s top engineers and guest judges. Finalists can also enjoy global media promotion and co-marketing opportunities with Huawei.

In 2020, several Start-ups and Developers from the Philippines joined the contest and three entries emerged in the top ten, namely Kumu winning as one of the Best App, Honourable award were given to Investegrams (Investa,Philippines) and Spick&Span (PlusPoints,Philippines). Spick &Span was also recognized as one of the most Socially Impactful App.

AppsUP 2021 welcomes all mobile app developers and app owners, whether students, professionals, startups, or businesses, to participate.
