Make Mother’s Day more memorable at Araneta City

Celebrate with mom at the City of Firsts through fun activities, rewarding promos, and exciting prizes

Mom, mommy, mama, nanay, inay. We use a lot of words to call the most important woman in our lives, but all of these convey our deep affection, respect, and adoration for our mothers. And as we welcome May, we look forward to that special weekend when we celebrate everything about our moms, make them feel loved, and show them that they deserve nothing but the best.

To help you make your Mother’s Day celebration more memorable, Araneta City has prepared some fun activities for both you and your beloved mom! Here are some things to look forward to at the City of Firsts:

1. Give mom the most entertaining day of her life.

Bring your mom and the whole family to the Gateway Mall activity area on May 8 at 3pm for the All for You Mom mall show! Be energized with the exciting performance of The Addlib dancers, and make mom kilig with a special number from celebrity heartthrob Xian Lim!

There’s also a special sandwich-making segment with comedienne Tuesday Vargas courtesy of appliance brand Tough Mama. Appliances will be given away to some lucky audience, so make sure to be there!

Meanwhile, at Farmers Plaza, moms can also enjoy a musical treat in the activity area from 4pm to 6pm.

2. Shop, dine, and enjoy special rewards for mom.

If you’re still clueless about what to gift her, check out Ali Mall’s Mommy Bazaar from May 1 to 14. Visit all 10 booths with products that mom would surely love, including women’s apparel, accessories, beauty products, and other trinkets and knick knacks.

If you’re planning to celebrate at Food Express, Food Plaza, Food Gallery, or Dampa at Farmers Market, your mom is in for a special treat! Join the Cool Summer Gulp promo by exchanging ₱250 worth of single or accumulated receipts for a cool Coca-Cola tumbler or a refreshing can of Coke. The first 50 diners to redeem on Mother’s Day will also get a FREE pastillas rose! Just show a family picture to claim the additional freebie.

3. Say a prayer of thanks for mom.

Our moms are, without a doubt, God’s greatest blessings to everyone. Let us thank the Lord for giving us such blessings. A Mother's Day anticipated Mass will be held on May 7, 4pm, at the Ali Mall Chapel, and everyone is invited to be part of it.

4. Celebrate Mother’s Day online and win special prizes.

The City of Firsts is also bringing the fun virtually through various online promos! On Facebook, there's the Pic with Mom promo. Naghahanap Ka Ba Ng Raket? TM Is The Key!

2. Online or Remote Freelancing - Next to eCommerce, dumami rin ang iba’t ibang online and remote work platforms na nagbunga ng bagong breed of Freelancers. From being a virtual assistant to writing to creating graphic designs, to hosting online events and even conducting tutoring sessions, ang ma-diskarteng raketero ay laging on the lookout for the next big raket, without having to leave the safety of home.

With these opportunities now accessible to Filipinos, there’s no way to go but up para sa mga raketeros. The question now is: Paano pa mapapalago ang mga oportunidad na ito online?

Ang sagot: TM is the key!

Ang EasySurf50 FunRaket gives subscribers 5GB data allocation—2GB of data (open access) + 3GB (1GB FunRaket partner apps), valid for three days! Kasama din dito ang partner apps na guaranteed to help you upgrade your raket-related activities katulad ng:

Online selling (FB, Lazada, Shopee);

Managing your finances (GCash, GLoans);

Exploring new raket platforms  (Kumu, Foodpanda, Jobstreet); or

Product deliveries (Grab)

“Layunin namin to help our raketeros to keep the BV away dala ng pandemic by making sure that they have access to all their raket needs gamit lang ang TM offers,” ani Eric Leif Tanbauco, VP for Consumer Mobile Prepaid ng Globe Telecom. “Pag ka-TM at ‘pag naging ka-TM ka na, mas pina-easy na ang pag-achieve ng GV kaya gumagaan ang life araw-araw!”

Aside from the New EasySurf FunRaket pack, available na rin sa mga gustong maging Ka-TM ang new TM LTE/5G-ready sim, ang pinakakumpletong sim offering ng TM na may libre agad na:

Up to 10GB of Data with all net calls and SMS valid for 15 days;

6GB Data Allocation (400mb//Day) for seven days;

30 minutes calls to all networks and Unli-AllNet Texts; and

A Funaliw Pack that provides access to FB, ML, Tiktok, YouTube.

“With the new TM EasySurf FunRaket pack at TM LTE/5G-ready SIM, wala nang makakapigil pa para maabot mo ang iyong raket goals. Always remember: TM is the key!” dagdag ni Tanbauco.

Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. Incentivizes Recycling through Tapon to Ipon: Basta Klaro, Panalo Collection Hubs across PH

Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI)—the bottling arm of Coca-Cola in the country—is accelerating its plastic bottle collection program “Tapon to Ipon: Basta Klaro, Panalo” to benefit more communities nationwide. Through Tapon to Ipon, clear beverage plastic bottles made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET)—material that is 100% recyclable—are collected to be given new life through PETValue Philippines, the country’s first bottle-to-bottle recycling facility.

Through Tapon to Ipon, CCBPI hopes to change the mindset about packaging recyclability—because clear used PET plastic bottles usually get thrown away after use (tapon), their potential wasted. In sari-sari store collection hubs first launched in Batangas City and the City of Manila, used PET plastic bottles are being collected and exchanged by community members for incentives (ipon).

Basta Klaro, Panalo!

All Tapon to Ipon collection hubs are accepting all types of clear post-consumer PET plastic beverage bottles– regardless of brand —thus the tagline Basta Klaro, Panalo! Underscoring that clear plastic bottles chart higher in recyclability compared to colored ones.

“Through Tapon to Ipon, we want to raise awareness about recycling and we want to do our part in ensuring that plastic packaging materials that are 100% recyclable are collected and used again,” says Gareth McGeown, CEO and President of CCBPI. “At the same time, we’re starting a movement within local communities— World Without Waste is a collective movement and the contribution of every single individual is valuable.”

World Without Waste is Coca-Cola’s global goal to collect and recycle 100% of the bottles and cans it sells by 2030—a campaign now finding a pillar in Tapon to Ipon and its ability to enjoin every stakeholder within and beyond the Coca-Cola ecosystem in taking part.

Sari-sari stores as plastic bottle collection hubs

Tapon to Ipon leverages Coca-Cola's extensive network to collect post-consumer plastic bottles: trade outlets such as sari-sari stores and wholesalers are being tapped to stand as collection hubs. These outlets—which often double as community landmarks, and who help bring Coca-Cola products closer to Filipino homes—are now also hubs through which plastic packaging gets collected for recycling.

To encourage store owners to participate, Coca-Cola developed an incentive-based strategy that would provide SMEs additional income on top of their sari-sari store business. Consumers also benefit from the program as they receive Coca-Cola products in exchange for the used plastic bottles that they will turn over at the Tapon to Ipon sari-sari store hubs.

"Nagustuhan po namin ang Tapon to Ipon dahil sa incentives na nakukuha namin. Nakakatuwa dahil nakakatulong din po kami sa kalinisan ng kapaligiran. Ang mga plastik na bote na nasa estero at kalsada, ngayon po dinadala dito sa tindahan para ipalit ng Coke Mismo (We appreciate Tapon to Ipon because of the incentives that we get. We enjoy how we are also able to help the environment. The plastic bottles that used to be in drainage canals and streets are now being brought to our store to be exchanged for Coke Mismo)," says Ace of Saunder’s, a Tapon to Ipon Collection Hub in Batangas.

"Ipagpapatuloy namin ang Tapon to Ipon dahil natutunan ng mga tao ipunin at ihiwalay ang plastik bottles para ipalit sa libreng Coke. Nagkaroon ng halaga ang basura na dating nasa isang tabi lang (We will continue to take part in Tapon to Ipon because people are learning how to collect and segregate plastic bottles in exchange for free Coke. Wastes that used to be scattered are now given value)," shares Leonor from Bigasan sa Hilltop, also a hub in Batangas.

CCBPI has also been organizing awareness activities in different barangays, to familiarize more communities about its collection program and about the inherent recyclability of clear PET packaging. Such initiatives include one-day barangay events, setting up in barangay halls or basketball courts to enjoin participation in Tapon to Ipon.

The program was first launched in October 2021 in Batangas City, where Coca-Cola’s partner store hubs have been collecting a total of around 300kgs of clear plastic bottles a week on average. The success of this pilot rollout has shown immense potential as a sustainable reverse route to a market model for post-consumer plastic bottle collection.

Following its successful pilot in Batangas City, Tapon to Ipon was launched in the City of Manila City in February 2022—and is set to be expanded across the country in the coming months.

“We are grateful for the support of all our partners—LGUs and barangay officials who have welcomed us into their communities—in making the pilot launch of Tapon to Ipon a success,” says McGeown. “We are very excited about expanding the reach of the program, further spreading its positive impact on communities, and accelerating the benefits of sustainability.”

Tapon to Ipon via Happiness On-Demand delivery

In addition to collecting plastic bottles through sari-sari stores and wholesalers, Tapon to Ipon: Basta Klaro, Panalo was also launched via CCBPI’s Happiness on Demand (HOD) home delivery service. HOD customers in Las Pinas, Parañaque, Alabang, and Bonifacio Global City can turn over clear plastic bottles to the Coca-Cola HOD team upon delivery of their orders.

McGeown adds “We know we have the responsibility to manage our environmental footprint and to ensure a sustainable circular economy for all—and this is why at Coca-Cola, we always take action.”

In the Philippines, as part of its pursuit of a World Without Waste, Coca-Cola’s business and packaging footprint is 50% returnable glass, and all its packaging materials are 100% recyclable. Through programs like Tapon to Ipon and partnerships with various groups, Coca-Cola enjoins everyone to join the collective movement to make World Without Waste a reality.

Ben&Ben and SB19 release “Kapangyarihan” performance video

The visuals take a closer look at the intentions of the people we will put in power in the next few days

Ben&Ben and SB19 make an important stand on issues concerning power abuse and public service with the release of “Kapangyarihan” performance video.

With theatrical performance as its overarching theme, the visual conveys the song’s message through a fitting medium that reflects the realities of life.

“Theatre is meant to be experienced live but we used its intrinsic quality in presenting the ‘Kapangyarihan’ music video,” says Dexter M. Santos, the MV director. “By infusing the music video with narrative, choreography, set, and costume design as well as video, we hope to deliver a sincere and emphatic performance.”

Shot in a stylized but dramatic approach, the video is interspersed with snippets of historical context and stories that question leaders and call for a meaningful change.

“The audience is reminded that this is a performance - yet a call to action is demanded from them; that there are bigger and stronger issues that we have to address after watching the performance,” Ben&Ben shares in a collective statement.

The release of the performance video comes just in time for the upcoming 2022 elections, where more than 60 million Filipinos decide on who will lead the country in the next 6 years. As Ben&Ben puts it, the visual narrative is a “constant reminder that speaks to everyone involved in an election.”

“To those in power it’s a reminder that the root of what they should be doing is service to the public, and if there is an abuse of that power then truth shall always prevail, no matter how anyone tries to hide it,” the nine-piece band adds. “To the people, it is a reminder not to put politicians on a pedestal, and that we must always hold those we elect accountable for their actions.”

“Kapangyarihan” marks the second time that Ben&Ben and SB19 have collaborated on a track. Both critically acclaimed groups first worked on the rousing pop ballad, “MAPA (Band Version),” which has racked up more than 25 million streams on YouTube and Spotify combined.

Ben&Ben and SB19’s “Kapangyarihan” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Philippines. Watch the MV here.

Miss Universe PH 2022 Celeste Cortesi bares #UniquelyBeautiful heart for family. The newly hailed queen is also this year’s Miss PLDT Home!

Besting 31 other candidates with her unique beauty, wit, and passion for her advocacies, Pasay City’s Celeste Cortesi clinched the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 crown. The Filipino-Italian beauty is also now the new Miss PLDT Home titleholder.

The 24-year-old Cortesi is no stranger to pageants, after representing the Philippines at the Miss Earth competition in 2018. In this year's competition, Cortesi showed grace, intelligence, and candor in conquering the Miss Universe Philippines stage. She shares, “I am excited to be part of the Miss Universe Philippines Organization. I will be working with them to advance my advocacies for women’s education and protection of our country’s indigenous people and rich cultural heritage.”

Besides her advocacies, Cortesi proves that she’s a queen with a uniquely beautiful heart. Throughout the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, she has been outspoken about her deep love and care for her family. “Since I was a kid, my parents have taught me the power of gratitude and kindness for everyone I meet. I always believe that being grateful creates a ripple effect and in turn, brings the best out of people.”

Cortesi further emphasized the importance of strong bonds with family and loved ones. In her winning answer at the final question and answer portion, she said, “If I could stop time, I would spend it with my family, especially my mother. It’s been two years since I haven’t spent time with my family because they live in Italy, and I came here in the Philippines just by myself. If I had a chance to spend one day, I would definitely be with my mom, and I would just tell her how much I love her and I miss her.”

As the newest PLDT Home Ambassador, Cortesi shows that strong connections can powerfully conquer distances. After winning the Miss Universe Philippines title, she even shared a heartwarming tribute for her mom on social media with the caption: “Far from each other, but always connected. To make you proud is the greatest fulfillment of my life.”

Joining Cortesi as this year’s Miss Universe Philippines titleholders are Miss Universe Philippines Tourism Michelle Marquez Dee, Miss Universe Philippines Charity, Pauline Cucharo Amelinckx, Miss Universe Philippines 1st runner-up Annabelle McDonnell, and Miss Universe Philippines 2nd runner-up Ma. Katrina Llegado.

PLDT Home is the official broadband partner of Miss Universe Philippines. As the fastest and most powerful internet connection in the country, PLDT Home has been enabling families – just like Cortesi’s – to do things better and to build stronger and more meaningful bonds at home.

Cortesi will represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant to be held in December in San José, California.
