Gen Z reports high stress levels and low work happiness, according to Jobstreet by SEEK

According to the latest Workplace Happiness Index: Philippines 2025 released by Jobstreet by SEEK, Gen Z workers report the lowest workplace happiness at 76%, with 39% saying they often dread going to work, underscoring the higher levels of stress experienced by the country's youngest workforce.

Millennials (77%) and Gen X (78%) record higher happiness and job fulfillment levels by a smaller margin.

Gen Z workers value purpose and flexibility, but face higher stress levels

While purpose and flexibility remain non-negotiable anchors for Filipino professionals, generational differences are shaping the local employment landscape

Among Gen Z workers aged 18 to 29, workplace happiness is most strongly linked to purpose, with 76% satisfied with the meaning they find in their work. This was followed by satisfaction with work-from-home arrangements at 73% and company success at 72%.

Filipino GenZs are looking to get ahead in a job that aligns with their own personal values but are also seeking flexibility to do it their own way, the report suggests. Despite generally positive workplace sentiment, Gen Z workers reported higher levels of stress and emotional exhaustion than older generations. Nearly 4 in 10 of the respondents said they often dread going to work, while lower satisfaction with workload demands and stress levels remained key challenges.

The findings suggest that younger employees increasingly value meaningful work aligned with their personal values, while also prioritizing flexibility and autonomy as they navigate the early stages of their careers.

Millennials and Gen X prioritize workplace culture, growth, and balance
Filipino millennials aged 30 to 44 identified workplace relationships, company culture, and shared values as key drivers of workplace happiness. Around 78% reported satisfaction with their sense of purpose at work, while 70% were satisfied with their team and colleagues, and 68% expressed positive sentiments toward company values.

The report found that millennials place greater importance on supportive teams and positive workplace environments than other generations, particularly as many balance career demands with personal and family responsibilities. Career progression and flexibility also remained important contributors to their workplace satisfaction. Jobstreet by SEEK shares that the collectivist culture of the Philippines, which places high value on community and building positive relationships, likely reinforces this too.

Meanwhile, for Gen X employees aged 45 to 59, work-life balance and career progression opportunities emerged as the strongest drivers of workplace happiness. Around 73% expressed satisfaction with their work-life balance, while 69% reported positive sentiments toward career progression opportunities and company success, respectively.

Compared with younger generations, Gen X workers are also more likely to feel fulfilled by their jobs, motivated to go above and beyond, and comfortable being themselves at work.

However, despite higher overall workplace satisfaction, stress and burnout remained concerns, with many respondents still reporting exhaustion and dissatisfaction with stress levels. This generational shift comes even as the country maintains a strong baseline for employee satisfaction. Overall, 77% of Filipino workers state they are somewhat or extremely happy at work, safely positioning the Philippines among the happiest workforces in the Asia-Pacific region. Yet the report highlights that workplace happiness is no longer a monolith; rather, it fluctuates dynamically based on an employee’s specific life stage, evolving career priorities, and shifting mental health expectations.

“Our findings show that workplace happiness means different things to different generations, but every employee wants to feel that their work has meaning and purpose. At Jobstreet by SEEK, we believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to workplace happiness; that’s why we encourage employers to build workplace strategies that reflect the diverse needs of employees,” shared Dannah Majarocon, Managing Director of Jobstreet by SEEK in the Philippines.

The Workplace Happiness Index: Philippines 2025 surveyed a comprehensive sample of Filipino workers aged 18 to 64 nationwide from October to November 2025. Executed over a targeted multi-week period, the study analyzes evolving sentiment across diverse job sectors, localized career demographics, and distinct generational brackets to provide employers with actionable operational insights.

LG Electronics Reports 2025 Scope 1 and 2 Emissions Below 2030 Target Level in Latest Sustainability Report

Company Advances Accessibility and Transparent Governance,
Reinforcing Its Commitment to a Better Life for All

SEOUL, July 21, 2026LG Electronics (LG), a global leader in environmental, social and governance (ESG) management, has released its 2025–2026 Sustainability Report, which highlights the company’s ongoing efforts to realize its vision for a Better Life for All.

The newly issued report outlines LG’s key ESG initiatives for stakeholders worldwide. Notably, it reveals that in 2025 the company surpassed its 2030 targets for both greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction and waste recycling rate.

In 2025, LG’s Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (indirect) emissions across all domestic and overseas business sites totaled 842,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂eq) – a figure significantly lower than the company’s 2030 target of 878,000 tCO₂eq. This achievement reflects the success of LG’s organization-wide efforts to reduce GHG emissions by 54.6 percent by 2030 (from 2017 levels). Key initiatives include the adoption of energy-efficient equipment and the transition to renewable electricity.

LG also exceeded its target for reducing emissions intensity during the use stage of seven major product categories. In 2025, the company reduced carbon emissions per unit during the use stage of its seven major categories by 22.5 percent compared to 2020. The target, a 20 percent reduction in per-unit GHG emissions from product use by 2030 – using 2020 as a baseline – was previously validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). LG is the first South Korean home appliance manufacturer to receive SBTi validation for such a target.

In addition to its GHG reduction targets, LG has exceeded its resource circularity goals. The company recorded a waste recycling rate of 97.3 percent across all domestic and overseas business sites in 2025 – surpassing its 2030 goal of 95 percent. The company also maintained Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWTL) certification across all domestic operations, with all five domestic production sites achieving the highest Platinum rating. Furthermore, LG collected 640,000 tons of used electronics from 91 locations across 56 countries in 2025, bringing its cumulative total of e-waste recovery to over 5.65 million tons since 2006.

Along with the effectiveness of LG’s environmentally-focused programs, the 2025–2026 Sustainability Report demonstrates the company’s continued drive to enhance the accessibility of its products and services. Key offerings include the LG Comfort Kit, designed to make home appliances easier to use regardless of age, gender or disability; accessibility initiatives such as the broader application of braille and tactile guides, as well as kiosks equipped with sign-language avatars at service locations; and the LG Easy TV, specifically engineered for seniors. LG also provides a range of inclusive services, including sign language consultations for the hearing impaired, and dedicated consultation services for senior customers.

To strengthen board independence and governance transparency, LG has separated the roles of CEO and board chairperson. Earlier this year, the company further reinforced oversight by appointing an independent director as board chairperson.

The 2025–2026 report also features a newly-introduced section on Responsible AI, outlining the company’s AI Ethics Principles and governance framework in response to the growing adoption of AI technologies. Going forward, the company plans to continuously bolster its governance framework to ensure accountability and transparency across the development and use of AI.

A global ESG leader, LG has again been recognized by the world’s premier ESG rating agencies. The company has now been included in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index (DJBIC World) for 14 consecutive years and has ranked in the “Top 1%” of S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for three years in a row. LG also earned an “AA” rating from Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) this year, one level higher than it achieved the previous year. Additionally, the company has received its second consecutive “Platinum” rating from EcoVadis, a distinction reserved for the top one percent of companies in their industry category.

LG has published its annual sustainability report since 2006. The full 2025-2026 report is available on LG’s website.

Rico Hizon and Gabbi Garcia Beats Murphy’s Law with ASUS ExpertBook Ultra

Murphy’s Law says anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. For ASUS Business Philippines, “No worries. We’re ready!”

Following the Philippine launch of the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra on July 1, ASUS Business Philippines announces the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra Beats Murphy Law video series — a content campaign that puts the flagship business laptop through exactly the kind of real-world scenarios that ruin an ordinary laptop and an ordinary professional’s day.

The series is anchored by two of the country’s most recognized professionals, Award-winning Broadcast Journalist, Host and Business Consultant Rico Hizon and Award-winning Actress, Host, and Entrepreneur Gabbi Garcia — both officially introduced as ASUS ExpertBook Brand Ambassadors in the Philippines.

MURPHY’S LAW HAPPENS TO EVERYONE

Every professional has a Murphy’s Law story. The coffee that spilled five minutes before a client presentation, the laptop that died mid-meeting because there was no outlet in the conference room or the bag that got tossed in an overhead bin.

These are not hypothetical scenarios. They are every working day for the modern Filipino professional who carries a laptop across Manila, between client sites, through airport security, and back home.

Rico Hizon knows this reality firsthand. With nearly four decades of broadcast journalism across GMA, CNBC Asia, BBC World News, CNN Philippines, and now ABS-CBN News Channel — Rico has worked in studios, live sets, client boardrooms, and international press rooms where one device failure can derail a live broadcast. When your career depends on being on-air and on time, your laptop cannot afford to fail. His role in the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra Beats Murphy’s Law series reflects that reality that a professional whose work demands zero tolerance cannot afford a device failure.

Gabbi Garcia brings a different lens to the same truth. As an award-winning actress, host, and entrepreneur, Gabbi represents the next generation of Filipino professionals who refuse to let a laptop slow them down. From production shoots to brand meetings, to content creation — her days are long, unpredictable, and unforgiving. In the video series, she puts the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra through exactly the kind of chaos that defines her working life.

WHY MURPHY’S LAW CANNOT BEAT THE EXPERTBOOK ULTRA

The ASUS ExpertBook Ultra was built for the moments when everything goes wrong — and it was engineered to make sure the professional never feels it.

Worry-Free Against Accidental Water Spills

Pressured with the deadlines, you’re almost done with your tasks until water accidentally spilled on your laptop? Whatever ends up on the keyboard during a deadline, ASUS ExpertBook Ultra can handle that. The ExpertBook Ultra’s splash-resistant keyboard is designed to route liquid away from critical components. What ruins a regular laptop barely interrupts a workday on the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra.

Worry-Free Performance, Even Under Pressure

Running a video call, a live document, an AI assistant, and a data dashboard — all at once, all day. The ASUS ExpertBook Ultra can handle everything at once. A high-performance CPU, up to Intel® Core™ Ultra X9 Series 3 Processors with Intel® Arc™ Pro graphics and with Intel vPro®, and up 50 NPU TOPs that runs AI tasks on a separate processor entirely. Nothing competes for resources. Nothing slows down. AI tasks run on its own lane so the rest of the workday keeps moving at full speed.

Worry-Free Against Drops and Physical Damage

Working from anywhere means moving from boardroom to airports, client offices or in transit. Bags get dropped; overhead bins are rough. Business travels are unpredictable. The ASUS ExpertBook Ultra has passed 24 MIL-STD-810H military-standard tests and 157 additional ASUS in-house durability validations — including drop testing from heights of up to 120 cm. This is a device tested against the kind of physical stress that Filipino professionals put a laptop through every single day.

Worry-Free Charging. No Outlet? No Problem

No hunting for wall outlets and cutting a meeting short because the battery icon turned red. The workday ends when the professional decides — not when the battery does.

ASUS ExpertBook Ultra is powerbank-chargeable via USB Type-C, the same powerbank that we usually keep in our own bags. It is also equipped with long battery life lasting up to 26 hours, so you can make even the most important business decisions from dawn till dusk.

Worry-Free Against Scratches and Stains

The ASUS ExpertBook Ultra’s 9H Nano Ceramic surface is five times more scratch-resistant than the industry standard and repels fingerprints, stains, and smudges on contact. A laptop that looks as clean at the end of the workday, as it did at 8AM without a protective case, without a sleeve, without babying it. That is what 9H hardness actually means in real life corporate situations.

Worry-Free for Your Eyes. Day and Night

ASUS ExpertBook Ultra’s 14-inch 3K Tandem OLED display is gentler on the eyes than any standard business laptop screen. From its anti-glare display that eliminates reflection in bright environments, ASUS ExpertBook Ultra’s Tandem OLED display delivers true blacks and vivid colors. For a professional working 10 to 12 hours a day, from a sunlit office in the morning to a dimly lit hotel room at night, this display adapts to every lighting condition without straining the eyes.

Worry-Free Portability. Truly Anywhere.

At 0.99 kg and 10.9 mm thin, the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra is among the lightest business laptops in the world. It fits into any bag, survives daily commute and travels, and never adds weight to an already full, busy workday.

Worry-Free for Businesses, Reliable and Trusted by IT Experts.

The ASUS ExpertBook Ultra is a business-grade laptop built for organizations of every size. ASUS Business Philippines offers flexible configurations tailored to specific enterprise requirements, whether for a single executive unit or a full team deployment. Each device comes with a comprehensive 3-year warranty, which includes the battery and charger, and is extendable up to 5 years, ensuring long-term reliability. With 100+ ASUS Service Centers from Luzon, Visayas to Mindanao and the ASUS Business Support Program offering priority servicing and on-site repair, the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra is truly a flagship device that’s built to last.

ASUS Business Philippines officially introduces Rico Hizon and Gabbi Garcia as Brand Ambassadors for ASUS Expert Series carrying forward ASUS ExpertBook Ultra’s positioning it not just as the Flagship of the Industry but as a durable, reliable, AI-powered premium business laptop into the next phase with this video series.

Rico Hizon is a multi-award-winning broadcast journalist with 38 years of experience across GMA, CNBC Asia in Hong Kong, BBC World News in Singapore and London, CNN Philippines, and ABS-CBN News Channel. He is the host of Beyond the Exchange with Rico Hizon on ANC, winner of the Best Talk Show Host award at the 30th Asian Television Awards, and Grand Final Winner for Best Factual News Presenter at the Asian Academy Creative Awards and currently serves as a business consultant.

Gabbi Garcia is one of the Philippines’ most recognized young actresses, a host, and entrepreneur. Gabbi has built a reputation for professionalism, versatility, and an entrepreneurial spirit that extends well beyond entertainment.
