MMI and Ovation Productions are proud to announce a special performance by Grammy award winning artist, Jason Mraz on Tuesday, May 14th at the Araneta Coliseum.
Jason’s latest album “Love Is A Four Letter Word” is still a current iTunes top seller for Philippines since its release April of last year.
“I Won’t Give Up”, the single from the same album is sharing the limelight as an iTunes Singles Top seller. It continues to hold its place as a YouTube top view in the Philippines, both for the actual music video and lyric video. “I Won’t Give Up” enjoys consistent airplay in local pop radio stations and has hit the #1 spot in RX93.1.
Jason has taken his musical journey from coffee houses to stadiums globally and now has two Grammy Awards and six Grammy nominations to his credit. Mraz's latest album, "Love is a Four Letter Word," debuted in the Top 15 in 13 countries including #2 in the United States with the first single, "I Won't Give Up" debuting in the #1 slot on Billboard's "Digital Songs" chart one week after its release. "Love is a Four Letter Word" has already sold 9 million singles and over 1 million albums. "I Won't Give Up" has been certified triple platinum in the United States and Mraz' previous album, "WE SING. WE DANCE. WE STEAL THINGS." proved a global blockbuster, earning multiple platinum certifications in numerous territories around the globe. One of the album's hit songs, "I'm Yours" was a momentous #1 smash in many formats around the world, earning ASCAP's 2010 "Song of the Year" award while also setting the record for the longest-running song in the 51-year history of Billboard's "Hot 100."
In addition, Mraz has been feted with a number of other honors, including the Songwriters Hall of Fame's esteemed "Hal David Starlight Award," presented to gifted songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs. In 2012, Mraz was asked to join former Vice President Al Gore for the Climate Reality fact finding expedition to Antarctica, and very recently, Mraz was voted the 2013 “Favorite Male Artist” at the 39th annual People’s Choice Awards, an award given strictly by fans.
In 2011, he partnered with MTV Exit Philippines to bring awareness to human trafficking. He paid a visit to the Visayan Forum and met the founder, Ma. Cecilia Flores-Oebanda. Visayan Forum is a Philippine-based NGO established in 1991, known for its innovative work for the empowerment of vulnerable migrants, providing aid for victims of human trafficking, domestic servitude and other forms of exploitation.
Mraz is an outspoken advocate for a clean environment, sustainable energy, education and human equality, recently creating the Jason Mraz Foundation. Late last year Mraz headlined a historic live concert for over 70,000 people in Myanmar in conjunction with MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking), which was held at the Yangon People’s Square at the base of the magnificent 2600 year-old Shwedagon Pagoda. www.jasonmraz.com
“My mission is simple: it’s to shine a light through music, which can easily be applied to why I sing these songs,” Mraz says. “A little bit of love goes a long way, especially on a planet crowded with individuals struggling with seven billion different versions of human triumph and human suffering. When I remember to simply enjoy being where I am, it makes a world of difference.”
Jason’s opening act, Zendee, bursted into the international scene through her viral YouTube video- “Random Girl Singing In A Mall”. Her amazing vocal prowess landed her the chance to perform to a global audience through guesting on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Random girl no more, Zendee is set to release her debut album under Warner Music Philippines. On December 12, 2012 she released her first ever single "Runaway" under Warner Music Philippines. The song was a natural choice for both Zendee and Warner Music, as it showcases Zendee’s powerful and soulful voice while showing some vocal gymnastics with a refreshing twist. You can download and preview Zendee’s Runaway single on iTunes and catch more of her on her official website.www.zendee.com.ph
