Home Buddies gives back in Paskong Mayo Puso 2.0

Gift-giving celebration aims to raise funds for SPED classroom makeover
To usher in the holiday season and recap an incredible year, online community Home Buddies celebrated with PASKONG MAY PUSO 2.0, a gift-giving treat held through a variety of online activities for all beloved kapitbahays and ka-hangouts!

The celebration was kickstarted by Home Buddies founder, “Mayora '' Frances Lim Cabatuando, and Q Radio’s Ysa Chong as hosts. To add to the fun, Quest and Kitchie Nadal entertained the kapitbahays and ka-hangouts with their performances, along with a series of games that brought fun prizes, sponsored by its partner brands: Bet On Your Buddy (sponsored by Dakki), Around The Globe: Guess The Movie & Country (sponsored by Globe Roaming), Read My Lips (sponsored by All Home), and Zoomba (sponsored by Irish Spring). Present also at this event was Kevin Pueblo as the guest tanod.

Through PASKONG MAY PUSO 2.0, Home Buddies raised funds for the makeover of a SPED (Special Education) classroom at the Pasay City North High School.

In line with their advocacy of giving back to the community, Cabatuando and Pueblo shared their gratitude for the overflowing support.

“We are one kapitbahay, we are 3-million strong, and we are here to support them. Thank you dahil sa pagsali ninyo sa mga events tulad nito, we are able to raise funds for the benefit of the people who are in need,” Cabatuando said.

“Kaya hindi lang talaga siya Paskong May Puso di ba, it’s not just for us the kapitbahays but also for those who need help,” Pueblo said.

Home Buddies, initially started in September 2020 by “Mayora” Frances Lim Cabatuando, is an online community and safe space for over 3.1 million home enthusiasts who want to achieve the home of their dreams. In this community, members engage with each other and share helpful tips, interesting finds, and inspirational stories about their home improvement journey. It also holds regular activities, such as the Monday Market, where group members can buy and sell home-related items.

But the festivities don’t end there. Home Buddies kapitbahays and ka-hangouts are still in for a merry ride this December with more activities.

There’s Globe Brand Week, where exciting games were held every noon until December 15 in the Hangout Buddies group. There will also be games until December 18 in the Home Buddies group. The fun doesn’t end there as a variety of brands will also be celebrating the joy of this Christmas season with us: Dakki Brand Day and Live Selling to be held on December 20 at noon, followed by Irish Spring Brand Day on December 21, Globe Roaming's live segment at 12 noon which will feature another round of fun games & raffle for the kapitbahays and Violeta’s Curtains Live Selling at 7 p.m. on December 22, and All Home Brand Day on December 23. ANIMA, A+E Networks™ Asia Bring South Korea’s Most Watched YouTube Reality Show to PH

PH version of ‘Nego King’ to stream on ANIMA’s YouTube Channel for FREE!

South Korea's most watched reality show, “Nego King,” will finally reach the Philippines as KROMA's ANIMA Studios partners with one of the leading global entertainment content companies, A+E Networks™ Asia.

A Philippine version of the reality show is coming soon and will be made accessible to viewers in the Philippines for FREE on ANIMA Studios’ YouTube Channel. Hosted by popular Filipino radio and TV personality Sam YG, the show will be produced in Taglish (Tagalog-English). With a following of 453K on Instagram, 21K on Facebook, and 1.6M followers on Twitter, the new Nego King PH host is sure to keep the viewers engaged, laughing and haggling through every episode.

Since the original South Korean “Nego King” premiered two years ago on YouTube, it has steadily gained fame. Now, the show, which has aired 60 episodes across 4 seasons, has amassed a total 135 million views, and the eyeballs keep coming.

In this popular web show, the host is “the king of negotiation,” interacting with ordinary customers through street interviews. The goal is to get to know the pulse of the people by asking for their opinion, critique, and wishes, especially on discounts and/or freebies on various “goods,” which may be an item or service such as beauty or cosmetic products, food, appliances or home items, and electronic gadgets, to name a few.

Later, the Nego King faces CEOs of the brands mentioned in each episode to leverage customer sentiment to get the best deals or discounts. This makes for highly relatable content in an era of belt-tightening due to inflation, especially among Filipinos who love a good bargain.

Now, with ANIMA’s newest partnership with A+E Networks™ Asia, the best Nego Show (Negosyo) of South Korea will soon be entertaining Filipinos with a local version in Taglish, bringing excitement and better deals for the Philippine audience, from clothes to food and various accessories and services.

Watch out because the Nego King may just pop in your neighborhood for ambush interviews.

Tara nang tumawa at tumawad sa Nego King PH!

In PIE's hybrid narrative-reality show “The Chosen One: Ang Piliserye ng Bayan” - Viewers have the power to control the story

Melai, Jhong, Kaila, former “PBB” housemates star in Pie's hybrid narrative-reality show

PIE (Pinoy Interactive Entertainment) Channel continues to beef up its offerings for its fourth month on air as it launches an engaging hybrid narrative-reality show this September 24, 8 pm, with Melai Cantiveros as the host and one of the actors.

In “The Chosen One: Ang Piliserye ng Bayan,” PIE viewers can control the story and determine which character stays alive until the end by voting.

According to award-winning director and cinematographer Topel Lee, “The Chosen One” has a ‘choose your own adventure’ style that’s why it is called a ‘piliserye.’

“You [viewers] get to play god sa ‘piliserye.’ Ikaw ang magde-decide kung saan pupunta ang kwento. Fresh ito for this type of programming sa PIE Channel,” he shared.

Each week, five lucky Philippine-based voters will be selected via randomizer to win P1,000.

The show’s pilot features a suspense thriller series called “Soap Opera” that follows Charlie (Kaila Estrada), who signs up for a shady networking group called Astra Nuevo fronted by the strong-willed Miss Jane (Melai). In Astra Nuevo, Charlie meets a group of 10 aspiring entrepreneurs from different walks of life who share her dream of gaining financial freedom. But soon they discover that their ambition could cost them their lives.

Joining Kaila in the hybrid narrative-reality series are former “PBB” housemates Andi Abaya (Rachel), Amanda Zamora (Julie), Dustin Mayores (Jason), Gabb Skribikin (Cheska), Kobie Brown (Peter), Luke Alford (Kiko), Maxine Trinidad (Emma), Rob Blackburn (Joe), Seham Daghlas (Paula), and Zach Guerrero (Mike) who will act as players in the show or the characters that will be voted by viewers.
In “Soap Opera,” Kaila is a non-player. She won’t be part of the 10 characters that are up for voting each week. Other non-players in the series are “PBB” Otso housemate Emjay Savilla and film and theater actress and host Sunshine Teodoro.

Every Saturday (8 to 10 pm), “The Chosen One” will air live episodes of “Soap Opera” so ‘chosen mentor’ Jhong Hilario can dissect and rate each players’ performance in the narrative. It will also reveal the current standing of the players based on the audience votes.

During the first episode of “Soap Opera” last Saturday (September 24), Charlie met the 10 aspiring entrepreneurs during the orientation day of Astra Nuevo that was led by Miss Jane. Charlie also found the lifeless body of Astra Nuevo’s security guard who was mysteriously killed at the office.

The Saturday episode (October 1) will be more exciting as “The Chosen One” reveals who among the 10 players garnered the highest number of ligtas votes and who are in the bottom two.

During the show’s primer, Melai shared that viewers will get to see a different side of her in “The Chosen One.”
“First time ko na ganitong storya. Kasi ako naman nagho-horror, pero may sundot na comedy. Dito parang may pagka-serious talaga,” she said.
She also lauded Jhong during the mediacon saying,
sobrang honored ako na kasama ko si Kuys Jhong. Talagang magkakaroon kami ng tawanan and banters. Sobrang happy din ako kasi yan ang sample king.”
Meanwhile, Jhong said during the show’s primer that he is grateful to be picked as the ‘chosen mentor’ and shared what he expects to see from the players.

“Siyempre dahil suspense thriller itong piliserye natin, gusto kong matakot sa acting nila. Gusto kong tumayo ‘yung mga balahibo ko dahil alam ko kapag natakot ako, ‘yung mga manonood sa kanila, matatakot din,” Jhong remarked.

On the other hand, Kaila sees “The Chosen One” as a challenge since it is her first thriller series. “Challenge ito because first time ko gumawa ng show na thriller ‘yung theme. I keep in my mind na I want to give it the best performance that I can give, something that even I would want to watch,” she explained.

Besides “The Chosen One,” PIE also offers viewers new shows and PIE jocks for more excitement. They are Gretchen Fullido, Abby Trinidad, Frances Cabatuando, Mayor TV, Tristan Ramirez (Mon to Sat) Madam Inutz, Migs Bustos, and Nicole Cordovez (Sun) for BRGY PIESILOG; Janine Berdin and Raco Ruiz for PIEBORITO (Mon to Sun); Anji Salvacion, Eris Aragoza, Ralph Malibunas, Sam Bernardo (Mon to Sat), Gello Marquez, Jeremy G, Reign Parani, and Vivoree (Sun) for PIEGALINGAN; Eian Rances, Negi, Sela Guia, Kevin Montillano, Nicki Morena, Ruth Paga, Nonong Ballinan (Mon to Sat) Inah Evans, Kid Yambao, Patsy Reyes, and Jackie Gonzaga (Sundays) for PIENALO; and finally, Aaron Maniego, Karen Bordador, Renee Dominique (Mon to Fri), Elmo Magalona, and Vivoree (Sun) for PIE Night Long.

Who will survive in this bloody tale of murder and be named as “The Chosen One?” Find out by watching the ‘piliserye’ ng bayan every Saturday at 8 pm only on PIE Channel. PIE is the first multiscreen, real-time interactive TV channel in the country. Viewers in the Philippines can participate and win cash prizes every day.

An app for heartbreak? Move on with ANIMA’s romance-comedy-drama film RESET U/I

What if there’s an app that can cure a heartbreak? Can you move on in an instant?

ANIMA, KROMA Entertainment Inc.’s film production outfit, merges the world of apps and love in its latest romantic comedy-drama offering “Reset U/I.”

The movie revolves around an app developer (Alexa Ilacad as Adie) who helps a venture capitalist (Enchong Dee as Geo) get over his ex-girlfriend so she can get her funding. The result: two people trying to forget so they could move on, only to confront and accept the pain, and learn from the past.

“I like how “RESET U/I” is not your typical rom-com drama. ‘Yung story and journey noong dalawang characters ang ganda and how their characters develop as well. Just when I was reading it and not even thinking it was me or it was Enchong, talagang kinikilig ako sa mga lines,” said Ilacad.

Enchong shared: “I feel like every actor has a responsibility to their audience. Kailangan mong bigyan ng something new ‘yung audience mo and we’re in the service of making people touch their emotions. So eto na finally makakagawa na tayo ulit ng pelikula na mapapanood sa big screen.”

True to ANIMA’s mission to highlight new voices, it looks forward to seeing Ilacad in her first solo-leading role alongside Dee, whose charm and wit had everyone at the storycon swooning.

ANIMA had the film’s story conference, look test and table reading attended by the cast and staff last June 28. With Dee and Ilacad were Iana Bernardez, Yesh Burce, Nikko Natividad, Lance Reblando and Nikki Valdez.

The exciting storyline was written by ANIMA’s former Creative Producer, Benedict Mendoza, with Director JP Habac tapped to bring the idea to the big screen.

“To say that we are very excited for “RESET U/I” would be an understatement to express how ANIMA feels about JP Habac’s newest film with us because we’ve been developing RESET U/I since 2019,” said Kren Yap, ANIMA’s Head of Creative Development.

After working with Habac in “Gaya sa Pelikula,” ANIMA has set several more projects with the young and talented filmmaker.

TikTok comedy creator Raco Ruiz joins KROMA Entertainment’s NYMA family

This just in: everybody’s favorite TikTok broski Raco Ruiz has joined the KROMA Entertainment family! Raco is now an exclusive talent under NYMA.

Short for “Now, You Must Aspire,” NYMA’s vision is to be the home of the greatest talents in the tradigital universe. NYMA goes beyond making stars of its talents, because why settle for the stars when you can be the sun?

Aside from creating work influenced by surrealism, graffiti, pop art, and low-brow cartoon art, Raco blew up on TikTok for his meta-comedy skits. His videos under the handle @racobell have gained millions of views and hundreds of thousands of followers for highlighting modern Pinoy “conyo” culture videos through his Raco-verse of characters (all masterfully portrayed by himself) and voiceovers of ‘90s cartoons and films.

NYMA believes in Raco’s potential to shake up the tradigital space given his promising work as video director and visual artist, plus his hilarious skits! Kat Bautista, Head of NYMA, said there is a lot of potential in Raco and that NYMA is excited to work with such brilliant talent for the long haul.
“He is a brilliant artist with a sense of humor to boot. He's a director, illustrator, comic, writer, and now an on-screen talent. As a multi-hyphenated artist, we feel Raco brings something unique to the Philippine market. We can’t wait for him to shake up the entertainment space with his unique perspective and talents!” she said.

Signing with NYMA and going full-time as a content creator is Raco’s way of making business a pleasure. “They (NYMA) take care of all the stuff I suck at and I’m left to do all the stuff I’m good at. It’s a symbiotic relationship. We just all help each other out, and we all want the same things, so it makes the whole process of creating a lot easier,” he pointed out.

“Being an artist, more often than not, my mind gets hyper-focused on the creative aspect of things that I often tend to neglect the business or logistics side of it, which is equally as important as the creative part if you wanna make art or be a creative for a living,” he shared.

Get ready to see this TikTok Rac-star and his unique multiverse of art and comedy everywhere, everytime, and all at once soon!

NYMA is one of the brands under KROMA Entertainment, the new tradigital entertainment company backed by the ecosystem of the Globe Group. NYMA recognizes Raco’s immense talent, and is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible to take his career to greater heights, give his unparalleled value, and help him break new ground in the tradigital space.

It is now home in the music division of KROMA, a tradigital entertainment company passionate about creators, talent, content, and technology. KROMA is backed by leading digital solutions platform Globe.

The music label, a Filipino sister label of Asian-American media company 88rising, has been instrumental in putting the Philippines on the global music map amid the pandemic. It expands the presence of artists of Filipino descent through artist development, music distribution, and music rights management.

"Only two years since its launch, Paradise Rising has been true to its ambition of providing a platform for Filipino talent to be recognized on the global music stage. Now the names Ylona Garcia and Guapdad 4000 can be heard offshore, with respectable brands trusting them and millions of fans worldwide listening. This is just the beginning. 2022 will see a more powerful and border-breaking music experience,” said Denise Seva, Head of LiveMNL and Music at KROMA.

Filipino-American hip hop sensation Guapdad 4000 was the first artist signed by the young label. Guapdad 4000 is also the first Paradise Rising artist to release a full-length project through the 1176 album, in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning Filipino-American producer !LLMIND.

KROMA Entertainment’s NYMA welcomes singer-actress Kristel Fulgar to exclusive talent pool

P
inoy celebrity and K-content “kween” Kristel Fulgar has joined KROMA Entertainment’s talent management agency NYMA.

Short for “Now, You Must Aspire,” NYMA’s vision is to be the home of the greatest talents in the tradigital universe. NYMA goes beyond making stars of its talents, because why settle for the stars when you can be the sun?

With 20 years of experience in showbiz, Kristel is a certified quadruple threat: she’s an actress, singer, vlogger, and director, making her a perfect addition to NYMA’s growing roster of unique tradigital creators.

Starting out in popular children’s TV show “Goin’ Bulilit” at only 8 years old, Kristel would go on to star in hit soap operas “Maria Flordeluna, “Dahil sa Pag-Ibig,” “Got to Believe,” and “Bagito.”

Her career tracked a new direction when she went viral in 2016 for her song covers while driving. This career turn led her to do song covers regularly and expand her channels to vlogs about her life in showbiz, travels around the world, and her favorite K-dramas. Now, she has millions of followers on her various channels: KrisTells vlogs, which focuses on K-dramas, travel, skincare and showbiz content, and the Kristel Fulgar channel, which mainly focuses on song covers.

In 2021, Kristel achieved one of her biggest dreams in life: directing and producing her own web drama series “Love From Home.” Shot in both Korea and the Philippines during the pandemic with a skeletal crew, she and her team achieved an amazing feat with this 8-episode love story complete with a Korean-Filipino theme song. If the show’s hundreds of thousands of fans are any indication, Kristel is clearly just getting started.

“I signed with NYMA because they saw the potential in me. Nakaka-happy lang ng heart na may mga taong nagtitiwala sa iyo katulad ng NYMA,” she said.

“Kristel embarks on the next chapter in her 20-year entertainment career by putting on her creative cap and doing behind-the-scenes work like directing and producing. At NYMA, we are excited to be her partner on this new adventure,” said Kat Bautista, Head of NYMA.

NYMA is one of the brands under KROMA Entertainment, the new tradigital entertainment company backed by the ecosystem of the Globe Group. NYMA recognizes Kristel’s immense talent, and is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible to take her career to greater heights, give her unparalleled value, and make her break new ground in the tradigital space.

ABS-CBN, KROMA, and 917Ventures launch PH’s newest ‘tradigital’ entertainment channel in May

A
new era will dawn in Philippine entertainment
as the country’s leading content provider ABS-CBN, innovative entertainment company KROMA, and foremost corporate venture builder 917Ventures, introduce “tradigital” viewing to Filipinos through PIE, the Philippines’ first real-time and multi-screen interactive channel that will officially launch in May 2022.

PIE or Pinoy Interactive Entertainment offers Filipinos a digital upgrade to their traditional media consumption habits by allowing them to watch TV shows, join all-day contests, build following, and even steer the storyline of a teleserye across multiple screens including TV sets, laptops, desktops, and mobile devices.

On PIE, those in the audience are not just viewers but a well-engaged community that plays an active role in storytelling, game shows, and talk shows.

“Filipinos are very social. We love hanging out with our friends, doing activities together, and simply having fun together. But this kind of connection is something we abruptly lost at the onset of the pandemic. Filipinos long for collective fun, and PIE hopes to fill that gap,” said KROMA Entertainment CEO Ian Monsod.

PIE is bringing back the classic game show “Pera o Bayong” that takes on a new level with an interactive format and prizes given away every hour to viewers at home. It is also introducing the country’s first interactive teleserye “UZI,” and reality show “Palong Follow,” where viewers will work together to find the Philippines’ next big digital content creator.

The channel also has a roster of exciting shows that will invite viewers to take part and own: “Ekstra Ordinaryo,” “Bida Body Part” and “Playlist Natin.”

“Our goal as a company is to continue bringing pioneering digital solutions to Filipinos especially as the pandemic lingers. This time, with PIE, we want to bring our kababayans an entertainment experience they can share. We want Filipinos to have a new way to enjoy and celebrate everyday wins to help uplift them despite their daily battles. We want them to feel like we are still together even while physically apart,” said Vince Yamat, Managing Director of 917Ventures.

ABS-CBN Chief Operating Officer of Broadcast Cory Vidanes said the company’s venture into PIE is testament to their organization’s boosted digital pivot.

“ABS-CBN is committed to bringing innovative content to as many Filipinos as possible, and in recent years, we have been engaging audiences more through a stronger digital presence and collaboration with various groups. Our partnership with PIE is a significant step in that direction and we’re looking forward to engaging with Kapamilyas in a whole new way,” said Vidanes.

Test broadcast of PIE began this month. Its revolutionary brand of entertainment will also be available 21/7 to everyone through YouTube. It will be accessible to some 11 million households with digital TV boxes in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Zamboanga, Naga, Baguio and nearby provinces and to 85 Million digitally-connected Filipinos this May 2022. To find PIE, viewers may rescan their digiboxes now.
