LINE’s new Disney TsumTsum puzzle


Here's for an avid community of mobile gaming enthusiasts, LINE, is bringing popular Disney characters to Android and iPhone users in the Philippines with the launch of LINE’s new Disney TsumTsum puzzle.

LINE Corp., owner and operator of the free call and mobile messaging app launches new Disney-themed gaming app.

The popular TsumTsum puzzle, which has been released in 41 regions worldwide, has been developed under the license of Walt Disney Japan that features Disney characters from Mickey Mouse to Winnie the Pooh to spice up your gaming experience. 

According to Tech in Asia, about 78 percent of the country’s mobile internet users downloaded games last year. In addition, the endearing Disney characters featured in LINE’s TsumTsum will make it a highly anticipated title for Filipino users. 

“The Philippines is not far behind its neighbouring countries when it comes to mobile internet usage,” said Greg Kim, Head of LINE Philippines.

“That is why LINE Corp. eyes the country for further growth, especially now that we recently reached the one-billion-download benchmark.”

In a global scale, the number of worldwide app users for TsumTsum and LINE shows great promise. Kim added, “Who doesn’t love Mickey Mouse and his friends? Young people have a genuine connection with these characters and, at the same time, they remind the adults of their childhood.” 
The TsumTsum and its colorful cast of characters have gained more than 14 million downloads. In fact, it was one of the top downloads in both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

This helped LINE extend its service to offline users, while fueling a 40 percent increase in sales.


The new game app’s popularity became evident when it bagged 2nd place in the Games, Toys, and Stationary category of Nikkei Trendy’s “First Half of 2014 Product Popularity Rankings.” 

“It’s easy to enjoy this game,” remarked Kim. “The looks of the characters are given a unique twist and gameplay is simple yet engaging.”

High scores in TsumTsum are achieved by matching three or more sets of Disney characters or “Tsums” within the span of one minute. The aim is to eliminate as much characters as possible to accumulate more points. When the player eliminates five or more Tsums in a row, coins will be released; eliminating seven or more will guarantee the player the “Magical Bubble” item that serves as the game’s booster.

“The players can choose from our 29 different characters and enhance their skills to gain special abilities—including the ability to stop time or eliminate Tsums at the center of the screen,” Kim explained. “Apart from its offline availability, you can also play TsumTsum with friends and family through online play. This is definitely another way to have fun and reconnect with your loved ones.”

LINE and Family Apps Top One Billion Total Downloads Worldwide
LINE, has been a worldwide phenomenon in the last three years, the world’s leading mobile platform, marks its third anniversary, June 23 2014.

LINE generates more than Php25 million for Yolanda victims

Proceeds from LINE’s special-sticker campaign to help storm-battered communities in PH

LINE, the world’s leading mobile platform with 330-million users, has donated funds raised by its “Pray for the Philippines” special-edition sticker set to victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda.

The stickers, which were sold worldwide through the LINE Sticker Shop from November 15 to December 31, 2013, generated over Php25-million (58,773,190 Yen). The proceeds have been forwarded to relief and rebuilding efforts in storm-battered communities in Visayas and Mindanao. 

To express LINE’s support for the cause, Akira Morikawa, the company’s CEO, paid a courtesy call to the Philippine embassy in Tokyo, Japan this past week. Morikawa sat down with Ambassador Manuel Lopez to present the proceeds from LINE’s “Pray for the Philippines” campaign.

He was likewise given updates about ongoing relief operations in the country.

The donations were transferred to the Philippine Red Cross last January 10, 2013, with the assistance of the Japanese Red Cross.

Greg Kim, Senior Manager at LINE Plus Corporation said that they are grateful for the donors from around the world for making this generous contribution possible.

Siwon and acting partner Patricia play the role of a couple separated by physical distance. They eventually grow closer despite their distance via their connection on the digital social platform, LINE. They use LINE's fun and expressive virtual stickers to share thoughts and feelings about their daily lives.

Siwon expressed how LINE has helped him stay in touch, and express his feelings with friends and family at home amid his busy touring schedule around the world.

Oftentimes, I am away from home, so I miss my families and friends a lot. But sometimes I am a bit too shy to express my feelings. Since I started using LINE, it became much easier for me to exchange my feelings with my families and friends, even when I am far away in other countries,” he remarked.

He also noted the diversity and creativity of LINE’s stickers. “LINE stickers are very expressive and perky, so if you use stickers, you can express your feelings more effectively than using just words,” said Siwon.
Siwon also added that communicating using LINE has become much easier for him. “I think LINE is an excellent communication tool that keeps the relationship between you and your friends and family even tighter, because it is possible to communicate subtle emotions through LINE. Now, I can’t imagine life without LINE.”

The TVC, directed by Cannes Lion winner John Park, is part of LINE’s efforts to initiate new and fresh approaches in the mobile messaging industry.
