Resorts World Manila brings world-class competition to the country not only by exposing local athletes to international play, but also by putting the Philippines on the international golfing radar.

The second edition of the Resorts World Manila Masters on the Asian Tour will offer a record prize fund of US$1 million in November, officials announced today. The inaugural Resorts World Manila Masters went down as one of the most exciting battles ever seen on the Asian Tour with Chinese star Liang Wen-chong coming from behind to pip Thailand’s Prom Meesawat in a thrilling play-off.

It also witnessed a gratifying act of kindness by the Chinese champion, who donated half of his prize winnings towards the relief efforts in the country following the damage caused by Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda).
Resorts World Manila Chief Operating Officer Stephen Reilly

“Last year’s inaugural Resorts World Manila Masters proved to be a victory not just for champion Liang Wen-chong, but also for Philippine golf. By providing a stage in Southwoods Golf & Country Club, top caliber golfers from the Philippines and around the world were able to compete in the country’s biggest golf tournament to date. This year, together with Asian Tour and our new presenting sponsor 918.com, we look forward to making the Resorts World Manila Masters even bigger and better with an increased prize fund of US$1 million,” Stephen James Reilly, Chief Operating Officer, Resorts World Manila said.

Asian Tour Chairman Kyi Hla Han
Asian Tour Chairman Kyi Hla Han lauded Resorts World Manila’s decision to raise the tournament’s prize money by another US$250,000 and believes the million-dollar purse will further elevate its stature in Asia.

“With great title sponsors such as Resorts World Manila and a new presenting sponsor in 918.com, professional golf in Asia will continue to grow and host exciting tournaments such as the Resorts World Manila Masters presented by 918.com.”

“I have every belief that this tournament will become one of the most highly anticipated tournaments on the Asian Tour and on behalf of our talented players, I would like to express our fullest appreciation to Resorts World Manila and 918.com for their support of professional golf at the highest level in Asia,” said Han.

The RWM Masters will be beamed through the Asian Tour’s global television platform and televised in over 200 countries and 650 million homes. The tournament marks yet another step in RWM’s efforts to champion Filipino talent, not only in entertainment and the arts, but also in terms of sports as it supports and develops local athletes for international success.

As the official sanctioning body for professional golf in Asia, the Asian Tour leads the development of golf across the region, enhancing the careers of its members while maintaining a commitment to the integrity of the game. The Asian Tour, through its membership of the International Federation of PGA Tours, is the only recognized pan-Asian professional golf tour in Asia.

Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III and INC Executive Minister Bro. Eduardo V. The Philippine Arena, 50-hectare complex called Ciudad de Victoria or City of Victory, in Bocaue, Bulacan, a domed indoor arena, is the centerpiece of the centennial projects of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) for its grand celebration on July 27.

It features a bowl-formed structure inspired through the narra, the Philippine national tree, based on the world-acclaimed architectural firm Populous, its concept designer. Populous also designed the large 23,000-chair O2 Arena in London, in addition to various huge sports arenas and stadiums on earth.

The Philippine Arena is much more than two times how big The O2 in London as well as from the large indoor arenas in the US, that was why it had been a large challenge to create and make. The Philippine Arena “pushed the limitations of arena design” and it is now considered the world’s biggest indoor arena, Populous stated in the website.

Aside from the Arena, which can seat a maximum of 55,000 people, two other massive structures are being completed inside the 50-hectare Ciudad de Victoria. These are the 20,000-seater Philippine Sports Stadium and the two-hectare Philippine Sports Center.

According to INC executive minister Eduardo V. Manalo, arena will not only hold major church gatherings, this would be also open to be used by Filipinos of other faiths as well as by worldwide groups or towns for worldwide events and occasions. It will also operate as a multiuse sports and concert venue, capable of holding a range of events from boxing and basketball to live music performances.

Throughout its groundbreaking in August 2011,  Manolo stated the world along with other massive architectural marvels to become built-in the town of Victory have been made to bring glory to God and recognition towards the country.

He also stated the world had recently been imagined even throughout time of his father, the late INC executive minister Eraño G. Manalo, due to the requirement for large venues for events cellular the quickly growing chapel membership.

HIRED – the jobsDB Recruitment Party !

HIRED – the first ever recruitment party!

jobsDB with opportunities and possibilities with many great things people can explore!

Online job portal, jobsDB Philippines, pioneers another innovation in the recruitment industry with HIRED – the jobsDB Recruitment Party on August 01, 2014 at the Elbow Room in Metrowalk, Ortigas.

HIRED, the jobsDB Recruitment Party takes the recruitment process to a whole new level. HIRED aims to provide job seekers with job opportunities in the BPO/Call center industry; one of the country’s fastest growing and highest-paying employment sectors.

The BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) industry has provided thousands of jobs to millions of Filipino job seekers since it first came to the Philippines in 1999. The industry is estimated to hit revenues of up to $25 billion by 2016, and may soon account for approximately 10 percent of the nation's gross domestic product.

The Philippines has long been considered as the location of choice of international companies looking to establish their offshore call center facilities due to its less expensive operational and labor costs, highly skilled workforce, proficiency in American-style English and idioms, and a constant stream of college-educated graduates entering the workforce.

Oliver C. Ramos, Marketing Manager of jobsDB Philippines, adds that HIRED is the first of its kind in Philippines.

“Our goal is to take the recruitment process in the country to a whole new level and HIRED is but the first of many other events we have in mind to do just that. In the past, job seekers would have to wait until after they receive their first salary to celebrate being hired, now, we want them to celebrate right away!”

Oliver further clarifies that HIRED is not a regular job fair because only those who pass the pre-screening procedure will be invited for an interview with a specific BPO client.

“Unlike regular job fairs, HIRED brings the applicant one-step closer to an actual job offer. The pre-screening process ensures that once they get to the venue, they will be endorsed to a BPO client that matches their skills and job experience. If they do well, they can actually leave with an employment contract in tow.”

“There are so many opportunities waiting for job seekers in the BPO industry. It’s one of the best industries to work with because of the competitive salary, above-industry perks and benefits, and speedy career promotions. With all the trainings and seminars call center companies provide to their employees, their personal and professional development is already guaranteed.”

Top BPO companies such as Hinduja Global Solutions, Teleperformance, and VXI have agreed to partner with jobsDB Philippines for the event.

The grand party to be hosted by former PBB Celebrity Edition housemate and Monster Radio RX 93.1 DJ Rico Robles as he  bringing his own brand of party to the jobsDB Philippines.

Don't miss an opportunity! Pre-registration and pre-screening is ongoing and interested applicants can go to http://hired.jobsdbevents.com.ph/ to register.

How technology helps students study better

Schools use computers and the Internet for their classroom resource and it can contribute richness and variety to student work. Computers can support the variety of ways learners construct their own understanding. Students who gather information from the Internet can be self-directed and independent.

Students in technology-supported classrooms are armed with powerful tools to help them gather information, consult with colleagues, and present their findings.

Teachers and school administrators noted these following improvememts:

Independence and information gathering. By connecting to the Internet, students learn how to do their own research. The wealth of information available on the Web plus the ease of using search engines give students more independence and confidence, as well as increased skill, when it comes to finding relevant data and putting this data together to meet a learning requirement or goal.

Critical thinking and reflection. With the large volume of information that they access, students are induced to learn to think critically: Which information is accurate? Is this information useful to the homework or subject at hand? Is this information validated by multiple sources and by the latest research findings? Students learn not to simply accept any data, no matter how readily available. With the guidance of their teacher, they are able to practice critical thought.

Using Internet-ready tablets and smartphones helps students to think independently and to develop information-gathering skills. Smartphones and tablet devices are available easily and affordably--at big discounts or free with a postpaid plan--at Allphones stores across the country.

Communication and collaboration. Through the exchange of ideas and messages—either by email, chat, or even social media—students are able to collaborate with each other to test their understanding of lessons. They can more easily ask questions to one another and provide answers and share research data. The can also help verify each other’s work. They can also involve their teachers in this collaborative and communication loop.
Communication and collaboration are important both in school and in a career setting. Students who use the Internet and Internet-ready mobile devices like smartphones and tablets develop skills that let them exchange information and collaborate on projects and homework. Help students develop these important life skills by getting them smartphones and tablets--at huge discounts or even for free with a postpaid plan--at Allphones stores across the Philippines.
More engaging learning experience. Information today is more engaging to the mind and the senses because of its multi-media nature. Students have text, images, video, audio, and even animation to help them better understand concepts and ideas relevant to their lessons. This multi-media experience lets this information be better ingrained in their minds.

Preparation for jobs later on. The jobs that students will be hired for, and the professions they practice, will require them to have working knowledge of computer use in the workplace, as well as for communication and information processing. Having students use computers and the Internet in the classroom prepares them for this future work environment.

Knowing all of these improvements and advantages, more and more schools are allowing not just desktop computers and laptops, but also tablet devices and smartphones in their classrooms. Tablet devices, as their computing power and multi-media features increase over time, are becoming a preferred tool for learning and instruction.

Students and their classmates can now more easily get the tools they need for computer-assisted, multi-media, and Web-connected learning thanks to affordable and value for money deals on smartphones and tablet devices at Allphones stores.
Internet-ready smartphones are valuable learning tools for students; these tools can help a student not only find information but to think about such data critically and reflectively. Students are able to assess, evaluate, verify, and cross-check the information that they use in their schoolwork. Allphones stores across the country provide Internet-ready smartphones to students at big discounts--or even for free with a postpaid plan.
