Palaro 2015 host sets benchmark for future Palarong Pambansa

Thirty eight (38) days before the opening, Palarong Pambansa 2015 host Davao del Norte received outstanding marks from Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro FSC during the official launch held in Tagum City, Thursday (March 26).

Luistro commended the preparations and said Davao del Norte could establish a benchmark for all future editions of the annual Palaro.
“It’s really the first time that I really feel and can sense that we are one month ahead of the preparations for the Palarong Pambansa. Maraming-maraming salamat po sa probinsiya ng Davao del Norte at sa ating sanggunian ng Tagum City at sa lahat po ng mga kasama natin dahil parang hindi po kami masyadong harassed sa Palarong Pambansa 2015. In fact, way, way ahead of schedule, lahat po ng ating mga opisyales ay nagpakita na hindi naman pala kailangan parati tayong naghahabol at sana ito na nga po yung ating standard for a benchmark for succeeding Palarong Pambansa,” Luistro said.

He added that he was impressed by how Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo Del Rosario, kept his promise of delivering a remarkable and “the best Palarong Pambansa thus far.”

“Kahit po mag-ikot na kayo doon sa mga venues, gaya ng ating mga Regional Directors ay naririto so that they can see for themselves how much preparation has already been done prior to the opening of Palarong Pambansa. I am so certain that our friends in Media, our general public, will be very pleased with what they see,” Luistro praised.

A pleasant addition to this year’s Palaro is the comprehensive guidebook featuring the billeting schools, playing venues, safety and security, and other essential details that athletes and spectators will need to know once the event commences. During the launch, the song “Palaro ng Pagkakaisa” sung by local favorite Maan Milan, was presented as the official theme song of the 58th Palarong Pambansa.

With the advanced groundwork accomplished by Davao del Norte LGU, DepEd can now focus on the real purpose of the Palaro—to ensure the well-being of the athletes and their coaches, and to assure the development of another world-class facility in one of our country’s provinces.

Amaia Steps condo launched at Capitol Central, Bacolod City

Continuing its commitment to enhance land and enrich lives for more people, Ayala Land broke ground on another landmark development last March 5, this time in Bacolod City. This new mixed-use development which will arise in the heart of the city is called “Capitol Central”.

Kicking-off the residential component of the Capitol Central development is Amaia Steps Capitol Central - a mid-rise project with 9 floors and 288 residential units for its North Building. It is located along San Juan St., Brgy. 8, Bacolod City. Ayala Land’s subsidiary, Amaia Land Corp, which caters to the affordable housing segment, is the group behind this project.

Bobby Dy (fourth from right), Ayala Land President and CEO leads the launch of Capitol Central, the Company’s first mixed-use estate in Bacolod City that combines a residential development by Amaia Land, a regional mall, an eight-storey Seda hotel, and BPO offices.

Monico Puentevella, Bacolod City Mayor; Hon. Alfredo Marañon, Jr., Negros Occidental Governor; Dan Abando, MDC President; Rowena Tomeldan, Ayala Land Vice President and Head of Operations and Support Services of Commercial Business Group and Al Legaspi,Ayala Land Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Ayala Land Hotels and Resorts Corporation.

Capitol Central is the first master-planned, mixed-use community in Bacolod, stretching across 9 hectares of prime land and is envisioned to be the growth center of the province. “We are truly excited to bring Ayala Land’s expertise in developing communities to Bacolod,” said Bobby Dy, Ayala Land president and CEO during the ground-breaking ceremonies. “Bacolod is a key development area and a city facing rapid growth, and we are privileged to have been given the opportunity to work with the provincial and city government as partners in progress.”

Bacolod City is among the most urbanized and busiest cities in the Visayas and is among the country’s third fastest growing economies in terms of information technology and business process outsourcing activities, which makes it an ideal place for young professionals.

Aside from Amaia Steps, soon to rise at Capitol Central are the retail, hotel, and office components with the Capitol Park as its centrepiece. The development will allow residents to live comfortably sans the hassle of going to different places for their needs. It is also accessible to most transport facilities such as jeepneys, tricycles, and even ferry stations.

Providing homeowners with comfortable living in a highly urbanized area, Amaia Steps Capitol Central comes with a courtyard at the center of the development, where residents can relax and bond. The development boasts of swimming pools for adults and kids, a children’s play area, landscaped gardens, jogging path and retail shops, contributing to a welcoming ambience for residents.

Like other Amaia condominiums, this project is designed with 24-hour guarded entrance and exits and CCTV cameras to ensure safety and security. There will be two elevators per building and naturally-ventilated hallways for homeowners’ comfort and convenience.

Buyers of Amaia Steps can choose from three unit types, namely, Studio, De Luxe, and Premier. These will showcase views of Talisay and Bacolod City, and the beautiful scenery of Guimaras Straight. Various affordable payment schemes are being offered: cash, deferred, bank financing and in-house financing.

The ground breaking ceremonies of Capitol Central was attended by the provincial government of Negros Occidental led by Governor Hon. Alfredo Marañon, Jr., officials of the Bacolod City government led by Mayor Hon. Monico Puentevella, and the management team of Ayala Land led by its President and CEO Bobby O. Dy, together with Ricky M. Celis, Amaia Land President.

“Today marks another historic event for Negros Occidental as we break ground on one of the biggest development projects in our province,” said Negros Occidental Governor Hon. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. “What used to be an idle piece of land for many decades will now be transformed into the center of economic activity.”

Congratulations to all Multi-Achievers - Brain, Body and People Smarts! The Real Measure of Intelligence and Success

Congratulations to all achievers, Body Smart, Brain Smart, People Smart, and to especially to all educators, and moms who advocate towars developing a new generation of multi-achievers - children with Multi intellingence who will lead tomorrow's progress.

Congratulations to all of us, as I am one of the people graduates to a higher standard of intelligence as we envision a progressive future, we are all acknowledged during the Multiple Intelligence Recognition Day on  March 26, 2015 at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City.

Kuya Kim Atienza, a Mult-achiever himself delivered the commencement speech during the recognition day,  hosted by Tessa Prieto-Valdez and joined by multiple intelligence advocate moms Mikaela Lagdameo-Martinez and Jenni Epperson.

The time has come to explore and recognize the different forms of intelligences to help children achieve the most success.

Understanding that success isn’t solely based on how good a child is in math or science means giving the chance to recognize their ability to be good at other things as well, eventually creating a generation that possess multiple intelligences.

“We continue to seek ways for parents and educators to recognize that developing multiple intelligence is just as relevant as academic performance, giving kids today the chance to develop their inherent skills in a motivated and well-rounded environment,” says Rhea Villareal, Senior Product Manager, Progress Pre-School GOLD.

“Multiple intelligence can spark multiple achievements – it is the edge that this new generation will have.”

Leading with multiple intelligence

This edge is perhaps best exemplified by some of this country’s young multi-achievers who were recently recognized at Progress Pre-School GOLD’s Multiple Intelligence Recognition Day. Among them are Sofia Pablo, whose excellence in academics is complemented only by equally impressive achievements in dance and sports; Cedric Rafael Uson, whose potential for leadership and the arts are notable; Sean Clarence Cai, who consistently impresses others with his propensity for numbers and excellent interpersonal skills at such a young age; Luis Raphael Danao, whose academic achievements are rivaled only by his passion and excellence in sports; and Ciara Russegger, whose athleticism and academic inclinations prove that a seamless integration of brain, body and people smart is possible with the right support.

Kim Atienza, multi-achiever and Commencement speaker in the Multiple Intelligence Recognition Day, also expressed that his well-rounded character has been key in achieving success in life. “Multiple Intelligence has equipped me to confidently engage with the world and readily accept challenges with family, passions, and career,” says Atienza.

Improving access to multiple intelligence

Progress Pre-school GOLD’s multiple intelligence advocacy has the opportunity to transform development approaches simply by highlighting the fact that various facets of intelligence combine to create a balanced and successful child that can potentially change the world.

As a means to further promote multiple intelligence, Wyeth is partnering with the Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP), a non-government organization committed to improve all aspects of the national reading programs and teaching procedures through teacher-training and research.

RAP calls educators to embrace a comprehensive curriculum to promote students' maximum participation for overall development. It educates school teachers using proven progressive methods to teach kids to learn to read and enhance comprehension — thus, facilitate a better learning environment to help students to progress into multi-achievers.

Moving up and choosing multiple intelligence

Progress Pre-school GOLD encourages Filipino moms to move up to a more progressive approach to parenting as experts prove that young minds gain knowledge through play, direct experience and social interaction.

"As a parent, my challenge is to help my kids apply their knowledge to everyday life, not just by getting good grades but by being well-rounded individuals that are smart, creative and helpful," says Jenni Epperson, Multiple Intelligence advocate.

Activities have become open-ended and interdisciplinary and the more kids exposed to different fields and interests, the more they are able to perform better and beyond given measures.

"With multiple intelligence, you don't just go one step ahead, you go twice as far," says Mikaela Lagdameo-Martinez, Multiple Intelligence advocate.

Progressive moms have a partner in Progress Pre-School GOLD as they further support the development of their child’s multiple intelligence. Progress Pre-School GOLD is now with its best-ever GOLD Biofactors System with higher levels of DHA, Choline and Lutein to support a child’s multiple intelligence.
