Nickelodeon Premieres Make It Pop!

If Make it Pop’s funny, feel-good theme and perky and adorable characters don’t get you hooked, the cool clothes and awesome music definitely will! Revolving around three very different teenage girls who end up to be roommates at a boarding school—and later on bandmates, as they form their own k-pop girl band, Nickelodeon’s newest live-action scripted series is bursting with so much fun and energy, you can’t help but get your groove on, too.

In this new half-hour musical comedy, everyday high school scenarios are spiked with doses of silly antics, over-the-top personalities, and zany teenage drama, with its main characters breaking into song-and-dance numbers throughout the episode—a pure crazy, fun entertainment.

Speaking of the main characters, the girls will surely take you out of this world with their quirky vibe and their ultimate popstar fantasies. Pick your favourite from the trio: the diva Sun Hi (played by Megan Lee) who documents everything she does for her “fans” on her video channel, the “Sun Hi Nation.” She is ambitious, she craves for fame and attention, she’s melodramatic, and always with exaggerated reactions and facial expressions. She’s also the most passionate, most determined little thing. Then there’s Jodi Mappa (played by Canadian-Filipina Louriza Tronco), who is fierce and fashionable, with a kind, thoughtful nature. Finally, you have Corky Chang (played by Erika Tham), who comes from a wealthy Chinese family. She is incredibly smart and musically gifted, but she is quite reserved—the total opposite of her newfound friend Sun Hi. The threesome quickly discovered how well they clicked, no matter how different they are from each other, especially when it comes to music, and went on to become pop sensations at their school, naming their K-pop group XO-IQ.

Adding a male perspective to the show is Caleb Davis (played by Dale Whibley), the young and talented DJ-wannabe who is partly responsible for bringing XO-IQ to life. Caleb is often clueless and accident-prone, but he’s also energetic, effortlessly funny, and very creative. He also happens to be Jodi’s object of affection.

Make it Pop, though it can be a little too theatrical, is actually relatable, especially to young girls, as it has a storyline that deals with sticky school situations, dreams, friendships, and the drama that comes with teenage territory. It’s a fun 30-minute show that features brilliant original songs and lively performances with a modern pop twist and an EDM beat from the show’s emerging, real-life group, XO-IQ.

The musical numbers are so catchy, you’ll just catch yourself unconsciously bopping your head, drumming your fingers, tapping your feet, and totally shaking it to XO-IQ’s beats.

Claiming the 6PM slot on Nickelodeon, Make it Pop is the perfect show to come home to after a long day at school. Enjoy!

The store was decorated special for their Birthday

“It definitely is hard to believe how far we’ve come” says Edric Chua, co-founder of Satchmi. “When we started out with just a couple of records and an online store, we always used to talk about opening a brick and mortar store until eventually the opportunity presented itself to us and we took it.” he adds. “From an online store to an actual physical store, and now we are not only distributors but producers and manufacturers of actual vinyl records for a couple of vinyl enthusiasts, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come.” says Aislinn Chuahiock, another co-founder of Satchmi. When asked what their secret was into getting this far, Ronald Sy – Managing Director and co-founder of Satchmi simply said “It was really a collaborative effort. Both within the team and with everyone we’ve ever worked with. Our loyal customers and everyone who has ever supported us also helped materialize what we’ve been planning for how many years.”

Satchmi’s First Birthday

Vinyl records have been around for a while now and although the emergence of technology and digital music has proven to lessen physical music sales, the fact that vinyl is slowly growing and emerging to be the ultimate and most genuine medium shows that a love for the good old days will never go away. Satchmi has been the frontrunner into making vinyl records accessible to everyone and as proven today, they are here to stay and we couldn’t be any happier.

Boxing legend and humanitarian Manny Pacquiao named 2015 Asia Game Changer of the Year; awardees will be honored at Asia Game Changer Awards Dinner and Celebration at the U.N. on October 13, 2015.

Asia Society today announced the 2015 Asia Game Changers, recognizing those making a transformative and positive difference for the future of Asia and the world. Manny Pacquiao will be honored as the 2015 Asia Game Changer of the Year, following in the footsteps of Alibaba CEO Jack Ma, who took the honor in 2014.
"The Asia Game Changer Awards address the lack of recognition for Asians who are transforming ideas into action and improving lives," said Asia Society President Josette Sheeran. "This year's honorees could not be more different from one another. They include a group of scientists, a comedian, a dancer, a fighter pilot and a boxer. What they share in common is that they all fight for a better today and inspire the world to do things differently."
While all honorees received widespread support, "one individual rose to the top of our list," said Sheeran. "Manny Pacquiao achieved his remarkable success after a childhood of extreme hunger and poverty. Today, Manny is a major humanitarian force, directing his philanthropy toward numerous causes, including education and the fight against human trafficking. He is a remarkable inspiration and demonstrates the power of giving back to transform people's lives."

Pacquiao and the other honorees will attend the Asia Game Changer Awards Dinner and Celebration at the United Nations on October 13, 2015. Pacquiao will also address the gathering. Among the Asia Society trustees presenting the awards will be Citi CEO, Global Consumer Banking Stephen Bird; renowned opera singer Renee Fleming; Pepsi Co Chairman and CEO Indra K. Nooyi; veteran broadcaster Charlie Rose; former Australian Prime Minister and President of the Asia Society Policy Institute Kevin Rudd; and Asia Society Co-Chairs Ronnie C. Chan and Henrietta H. Fore. The evening will also feature a special live performance by global music movement Playing For Change, recipient of the 2014 Asia Game Changer award.
