Protect the foundations of your home to avoid problems in the future

Your house and your family’s health are at risk when you can spot termite infestations in your house.
Your house is one of your biggest investments, but turning it into a home is taking it to another level.

You might ask: what’s the difference between a house and a home? A house is the structure made out of walls and beams, while a home is a place where we feel the safest and is built out of love.

But how can you call your house a home when your family is not safe in it because of possible termite infestations? Not only your house’s foundation is at risk, but also your family’s health.

Termite infestation is a real problem that requires real solution to avoid cases like this.

An electric power tripping is a sign of serious termite infestation.

Protect your most prized investment with Solignum and Soilguard to avoid cases like this.

Termite infestation is a real problem that requires real solution. While we focus so much with wood preservation when termites are talked about, people don’t even know that some termites come from soil and it is also a must to treat our soil with termite solutions.

For six long decades, Solignum wood preservative has been the partner of Filipino homes when it comes to protecting our homes from termites, wood borers, and fungi.

Soilguard aims to protect your home from subterranean termites found in soil by providing lethal barrier that prevents them from entering the structure.

With its commitment in providing total termite protection, Jardine Distribution Inc (JDI) the distributor of Solignum in the Philippines is educating the market on the importance of total termite protection. The total termite solution is a reminder and a tool to homeowners that it is important to protect the outside of our home from termites as it is inside.

Preserve your wood by treating your soil with Soilguard and your wood with Solignum.

Soilguard, which is a support to existing Solignum products, aims to protect your home from subterranean termites found in soil by providing lethal barrier that prevents them from entering the structure. It kills any termites that comes into contact with, which is a cost-saving and efficient solution. Solignum wood preservative on the other hand helps protect and preserve the wood from the termites, wood borers and fungi.

Now that summer’s here, it is the perfect time to inspect your home for problems while we have a good and dry weather. If you see signs of possible infestation, get right to the problem. If not, it is still the best if you step up and prevent it from happening by treating your soil with Soilguard and your wood with Soligum.

The Philippines today is at the cusp of new and great opportunities.

With the impending rise to power of new national leaders, the emergence of a more vigilant Filipino people, the advent of the ASEAN integration, and overall improvements in various global and national indicators, the challenge is not anymore survival, or development, but to ride the momentum.

The call of the hour is to bring the country to new and greater heights, towards sustainable prosperity. The greater need is to deliver inclusive growth for all Filipinos. The mandate for PMAP is to strategically position people – Filipino human capital, as the main driver of the movement

Abby Asistio's meeting with Mark Zuckerberg and her Facebook Friends Day experience

Last January 31, 2016, Fellow Filipino Abby Asistio flew to San Francisco and had the wonderful opportunity of being chosen as one of the eighteen invited by Facebook on their 12th Anniversary Friends Day celebration with California-based Alopecia awareness advocate, Rachel Regal. Alopecia is an autoimmune condition which results in partial or total head and body hair loss.

Abby Asistio have had it since she was four while Rachel just developed it sometime in 2012, the same year she discovered that her 10-year-old daughter, Eliana, had it, too. Six inspiring stories were picked by Facebook among its 1.64 billion users and Abby’s friends were all amazed when theye’ve found out that Abby’s Alopecia story was one of them. Imagine that!

Abby and Rachel met each other through the double A hand sign campaign that Aby started in 2012, and They've been "connected" since then. Last year, Facebook Stories featured how these two were able to build a friendship, as well as campaign for disease awareness through Facebook! And last February 1st, Abby and Rachel had the chance to tour FB headquarters in Menlo Park, San Francisco, meet and chat with the people behind Facebook (Founder & CEO Mark Zuckerberg, COO Sheryl Sandberg, CPO Chris Cox, and a whole lot of awesome people), get crazy cool gadgets and have one of the best experiences of their lives.

Abby recounted that it was such a surreal feeling to be in the same room as the creator of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg. Mark Z was wearing his trademark look (jeans, sneakers, shirt and a big smile on his face), and had such a friendly, approachable aura and demeanor about him. Not at all intimidating! He shared stories about how the company started, its mission-vision, the ups and downs that come along, and their future plans.

Those invited also had the chance to ask him questions. When Mark Z was asked about achieving success and life’s “impossibilities”.

Mark Z said  - “There’s a difference between impossible and things taking a really long time. Even if you’re not going to be able to do something in a short time period, if you care about something, you want to see the world to move into that direction… So the best thing to do is just get started and not be discouraged. It’s tough because this stuff is hard, or else people would’ve already done it.”

Abby Asistio got the chance to ask a question to one of the world’s 50 most powerful, successful women in business, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg. Aside from Alopecia awareness, Abby is also an active Real Beauty advocate with girls and women struggling with various insecurities, being so consumed by the world’s unrealistic and sometimes superficial standards of beauty. So Abby asked Sheryl about her perception of it. Sheryl said that beauty is just like success and that no one could really define it for you. We are all unique. We have different stories, dreams and desires. We should explore our own inner and outer beauty, believe and embrace that we are beautiful, and never allow anyone to tell us otherwise.

Mark capped off his talk by sharing their company philosophy with everyone present. Though already having over 1 billion subscribers, there are still 7 billion people all over the world without access to all the meaningful connections and information that Facebook brings. One thing that the company stands by is that “things are always 1% completed”. It keeps them grounded, reminding them that there is always so much work, growth and progress to be done, and so many people to reach out to and help.

Everything about the Facebook trip was overwhelming and inspiring according to Abby. More than anything, it reminded her about “responsibility”.

We are all given our own platforms, in this case “accounts and connections”, to make a dent in this world. It is up to us to become complacent and take these vehicles for granted, or maximize the opportunities and use them to make a positive impact in this generation.

Abby is grateful that Facebook has become a medium for her to communicate disease awareness and touch people beyond the confines of her tiny room and her country. Abby is also glad that she and Rachel are two out of millions of people choosing to recognize the importance of social media in contributing to making this world a better place, and actually doing something about it.

Truly, God plans the best adventures and creates the most beautiful surprises. Abby knows that she wouldn't have been handpicked for this if it weren't for Him, as well as the countless individuals who have cared and showed support for my advocacy.
Abby would like to leave a positive thought to everyone that we should really take the time to search for and identify our “purpose” – that one unique, very specific calling that is the result of our talents, dreams, desires, passions and experiences. Once you find it, be faithful to it no matter how long or difficult the journey towards its fulfillment may be. You’ll never know where it could lead to, how far it could go and how large it could grow.

Abby is also thankful that her campaign continues to spread and reach new heights and she is particularly grateful to Facebook for giving her this opportunity and to Novuhair, Nature's Answer to Hair Loss (www.novuhair.com), for always being so supportive of her advocacy and endeavors. Abby is proud and honored to have represented the Philippines and the Alopecia community in this once-in-a-lifetime, international event.

A Smart Buyer’s Checklist for Smart TVs

What to consider when in the market for a new television set

Shopping for the perfect television for your home should be a fun experience, but all the technical details from screen size to special features can be daunting.

With all the weird acronyms, the vast array of visual display technologies, myriad operating systems, and the variety of internet-based applications to consider, how do you bring to life the home entertainment of your dreams?

“It’s important to consider your lifestyle to find the best appliance for your home,” said Nobuhito Hayashi, President & CEO of Haier Philippines. “In the Philippines, we know that family is an integral part of the Filipino lifestyle. This is why we ensure that our products are designed to help foster that sense of relationship by letting our users enjoy our products together.”

Whether you’re a university student who wants to chill while watching your favorite music videos on YouTube, a housewife who doesn’t want to miss an episode of your favorite teleserye, or a sports enthusiast who expects exceptional image accuracy when viewing a boxing match, there’s a television that best suits you.

To find that perfect match, here’s a list to guide you:

1) Size matters

What size suits you best? When buying a television, you have to consider the size of your room, the distance from the couch or bed, and the kind of viewing experience you want to have.

TVs measuring 24 to 32 inches are good for kitchens and small bedrooms, while a TV with a 50- to 60-inch screen will create a home theatre experience in the living room for the whole family to enjoy. Today’s sleek flat-screen televisions take up less space than older versions with the same screen size because the bezel (the front surround of a TV) has gotten thinner. For instance, a new 60-inch TV is roughly the same as an older 55-inch TV.

Haier’s K5000 series has an ultra-slim frame with a brushed aluminum finish and a stylish metal stand. Apart from its chic design, the K5000 series has a Time Shift feature that allows you to automatically record TV shows even when you’re not at home. The series includes models with screens size 32, 40, 50, and 55 inches.

2) HD or Ultra HD?

Resolution or the sharpness of the TV’s picture quality is measured in terms of pixels. A Full HD TV has a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080, while Ultra High-Definition (UHD) TVs, also called 4K TVs, have screen resolutions of 3840 x 2160. The densely packed pixels in a UHD TV allow it to deliver images four times clearer and more detailed than what a Full HD TV can do.

Haier’s UHD B7000U 4K Ultra HD TV is best for watching sports programs and action films. The series produces vivid colors and deeper blacks because of its Haier’s proprietary UHD engine technology with a 30,000,000:1 mega dynamic contrast ratio, along with its100Hz native refresh rate and ultra-rapid F2R600 technology. With an A+ efficiency rating, energy consumption is kept to a minimum. The B7000U 4K Ultra HD TV also has an upscaling feature that allows you to watch movies and TV programs in HD resolution upgraded to 90% Ultra HD quality. The UHD B7000U is available in 55 inches.

3) New World of Connectivity

The television is no longer just for viewing TV shows and movies. Now it lets you connect to the Internet, play games, watch your favorite online videos, and even check your email.

Haier’s U5000A is a GMS-certified Android TV that has a pre-installed Android 4.4 KitKat operating system which enables you to access the Google Play Store and download applications such as Gmail and YouTube. It also has smart control and smart share features that allow you to view and transfer photos, music files, and movies from your smartphone to the bigger screen.

The U5000A smart TV comes with a QuadCore CPU, 8GB internal memory at an affordable price.

Haier Philippines works with Haier Research & Development Center located in Japan to give the Filipino family the best home entertainment possible through its line of Smart TVs at a lesser price tag.
