Epson launches the Moverio BT-300 , the world’s lightest OLED binocular see-through smart glasses

Epson today announced the launch of its latest augmented reality smart glasses, the Moverio BT-300 in Southeast Asia.

The Moverio BT-300 features Epson’s own cutting edge silicon-based OLED (organic light emitting diode) digital display technology, enabling the device to be the lightest see-through binocular smart glasses on the market, and setting the new standard for augmented reality smart eyewear.

Leveraging Epson’s patented optical and precision technologies, Epson’s Moverio BT-300 smart glasses has micro projectors located on each side of the eyeglasses that project transparent overlays of digital content directly in the user’s field of view over the real-world environment.

The Moverio BT-300 bring hands-free operability through a front-facing 5-mega-pixel HD camera and intelligent tracking sensors that detects the dimensions and spatial positioning of objects in relation to each other. A key feature is that users can take HD-quality video and pictures hands-free, bringing new levels of productivity for deploying the device for work-related purposes. The device features an LED to indicate when the camera is recording.

Designed to be worn with ease for use at work or play, the Moverio BT-300 is compact and lightweight, and fits over normal glasses comfortably. It is approximately 20% lighter than its predecessor, the BT-200. Built with a quad core Intel Atom processor and Android OS 5.1, the BT-300 maintains up to six hours of battery life for processing of 3D heavy content.

Augmented reality smart glasses can improve worker efficiency enabling hands-free and real-time display across various industries such as warehouse/logistics, field service, manufacturing, healthcare, travel and hospitality, retail and more. Uses for the Moverio smart glasses include learning and training purposes, remote field service support for complex repair assistance and troubleshooting, managing of inventory and warehousing, guided museum tours and others.
“The Moverio BT-300 continues Epson’s commitment to binocular smart eyewear, real optical see-through overlay, and increased performance. We see potential for growth for industry use in the region. The Moverio has the potential to revolutionise workflow for onsite or remote operations. It adds a new dimension to professionals for improving their efficiency and accuracy at work, enabling workers to share their experience virtually or provide hands-free movement for hands-on work,” said Siew Jin Kiat, Regional General Manager (Southeast Asia), Printers & Visual Instruments Division, Epson Singapore.
Epson is currently working with businesses and independent software vendors to develop applications for use. It has partnered with DJI, a leading maker of drones, to develop applications for the Moverio smart glasses that will enhance safety, productivity, and piloting experience for hobbyists and professionals alike.

Using the optimized DJI Go app for the Epson Moverio BT-300 smart glasses, drone pilots will be able to see crystal clear, transparent first person views (FPV) from the drone camera while simultaneously maintaining line of sight with their aircraft. The Epson/ DJI partnership is timely as businesses look to expand the use of drones for a variety of aerial photography and videography purposes.

The Moverio BT-300 will be available in first quarter of 2017 across Southeast Asia region, in Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The Moverio BT-300 won Best New Wearable Device at the IDTechEx Wearable Europe 2016 Awards in recognition of its usefulness and innovation.

Epson’s Moverio range was first launched in 2011 with the BT-100, supplemented in 2014 with the BT-200, and again in 2016 with the Moverio Pro BT-2000.

Rotary Club of Makati West holds yearly art sale and charity drive for kids with congenital heart ailments

ART WITH A HEART. Art can save lives and this has been proven by the Rotary Club of Makati West (RCMW) as it launches its annual charity art sale on November 11-13, 2016 at The Gallery, Greenbelt 5 in Makati City. Now going on its ninth year, Alay Sining is run under the auspices of the Gift of Life International which arranges funding for the treatment of children with congenital heart ailments. It has brought aid to over 18,000 children of indigent families in 71 emerging countries. Alay Sining is a noteworthy example of partnership between the artists who have supported the drive, and RCMW that has successfully benefited children and help them lead normal lives. Among the artists whose works will be on exhibit and sale in this year’s Alay Sining 9 are Abel Agubang, Jinggoy Buensuceso, Glenn Kagandahan, Kenneth Cobonpue, Jojit Nagamos, Jaime Nepomuceno and other leading and up-and-coming artists.

Two of Alay Sining’s beneficiares, Maranathalie Balitaon and Rogin de Pedro (2nd and 3rd from left), grace the art exhibit sale launch with Alay Sining president Paolo Delgado, RCMW past president Lou del Rosario, and participating artists Nepomuceno and Sam Penaso.

The Rotary Club of Makati West (RCMW) is again holding its annual Alay Sining, an exhibit and sale of the works of the country’s leading and up-and-coming artists to benefit the treatment of indigent children afflicted with congenital heart disease (CHD).

Estimates report that about 5.5 million children all over the world are stricken with CHD, with about 94 percent of them coming from families who can least afford the appropriate medical regimen.

Children diagnosed with CHD suffer from weakness, high susceptibility to pneumonia and other respiratory and cardiovascular complications. They require multiple surgeries and extensive treatment – all of which can be costly.

Themed “Art with A Heart,” RCMW’s charity drive is now on its 9th year and is run under the auspices of the Gift of Life International (GOLI), an organization that arranges funding for the treatment of children with CHD.

In the Philippines, the GOLI charities are spearheaded by the RCMW. Through their tireless efforts, thesechildren continue to receive the heart treatment and surgery for free.

The 2016 event is particularly special. As the number of sculptures being featured has indeed gradually risen, this year also marks the first time that paintings are included in the drive.

All artists extend their help generously and their numbers increase every year. Among those who have pledged their support are Glenn Cagandahan, Sam Penaso, Jaime Nepomuceno, Jojit Nagamos, Adel Agubang, Jinggoy Buensuceso, Kenneth Cobunpue, and many more.

The charity event is a perfect dovetail for the children who gravely depend on CHD medical procedures, as well as the artists who likewise naturally need to support themselves.

As in years past, the Alay Singing launch will be at the offices of DDB Group Philippines, at the 16 floor of Two World Square, Upper McKinley Road, McKinley Hill, in Taguig City.

Alay Sining 9 exhibit will be held at The Gallery, Greenbelt 5, Makati City on November 11-13, 2016.

For inquiries please call RCMW at 753-3098 and look for Kai.

Filipino families may have changed the way they bond over generations but they will always enjoy the timplang Pinoy taste of Eight O’Clock.

In keeping with the times, the things that Filipino families enjoy and delight in have constantly evolved – from simple group kite flying, to grandma’s stories of legends and folklore at night, to strolling in the mall, to family karaoke, and to the more contemporary groufies and #FamBam picture taking on their smart phones. Through all that, one thing remains constant, there is still that distinctly Filipino timpla in all these family bonding activities – just like how the Eight O’clock powdered juice drink remains Pinoy na Pinoy.

We take pride that no matter how much time changes the bonding activities of Filipino families, Eight O’Clock continues to provide that truly Timplang Pinoy that generations and generations of Filipino families have come to love,” Teejae Sonza, marketing manager for Stills and New Categories of Coca-Cola Philippines.
A glass of Eight O’Clock is a glass of truly Timplang Pinoy flavor loved and enjoyed by generations of Filipino families over the years.
