31-Year-Old Farmer wins P1M Jackpot Prize in Shopee Milyonaryo

Reyman Bantad is an unemployed father of one from Negros Occidental

Reyman Bantad is a simple 31-year-old man from Negros Occidental. He lives with his partner of ten years and their eight-year-old child. Reyman wants the best things in life for his small family but lost his job as a sugarcane (tubo) farmer two years ago. He has been unemployed ever since.

The Bantad family survives on Reyman’s partner’s meager earnings as a hacienda worker planting tubo. But work opportunities don’t come by often, and money is tight.

Reyman and his partner do what they can to keep their child from going hungry, even borrowing money so they can buy rice. Though he occasionally asks for help from his siblings, they can’t always help out since they also have mouths to feed.

He copes with these struggles by tuning in to Wowowin every day so he could live vicariously through the winners on the show. He dreams of winning himself and securing a better future for his family.

Those dreams became a reality when he won P1M in Shopee Milyonaryo last November 9.

Reyman learned about Shopee Milyonaryo on Wowowin, and though he fantasized about the possibilities, the thought of winning had never seriously crossed his mind. When he learned that he had won the opportunity to be on the show, he invited his family to watch it with him.

Reyman’s family was so overwhelmed when he won the P1M jackpot that one of his siblings even ended up fainting. “Nung nalaman namin na nanalo ako, lahat kami naiyak. Kasi kailangan na kailangan namin ‘yung pera,” he shared.

As for his cash prize, Reyman has practical ideas in mind. He plans to invest the money by starting a business so that his family can finally enjoy a better future.

He also plans to give part of his winnings to his loved ones, especially now that the holidays are approaching. “Kasi binigay ‘yan sakin, dapat mamigay rin ako,” he said.

Want to be the next millionaire?

Shopee Milyonaryo is an interactive lucky draw contest on GMA’s Wowowin, where users can win up to ₱1,000,000 in cash every weekday until November 11. Users can participate by logging on to the Shopee app and claiming the raffle code. Winners will be announced every weekday during Wowowin. During the show, the winners will pick one out of six boxes, one of which contains ₱1,000,000 in cash.

Brother Philippines supports virtual Relay For Life 2020

Despite a global pandemic that has put many events and occasions on hold, Brother International Philippines Corporation (BICP) and Brother Industries Philippines, Inc. pushed through in its annual support for this year’s Relay For Life, a global movement to support and raise funds for cancer patients around the world by walking or running around a track.

Due to the pandemic, this year’s Relay For Life was held virtually on the Philippine Cancer Society’s Facebook page last August 22.

Meanwhile, a donation ceremony was also held via video conferencing last September 25, which was attended by BICP President Glenn Hocson, Product Management Group Manager Shinichi Tanaka, associates Elben Arcilla, Kyle Tabalan, Kristine Soriano, Jana Macabia, and Brother Industries Philippines, Inc. (BIPH) employees.

“Even though we may be affected by the challenges we’re all going through right now, we at Brother Philippines are happy to continue to find ways to support our worthwhile causes such as Relay For Life,” said Hocson.

BICP’s support for Relay For Life, which is going on its ninth year, is part of the Brother Group’s Golden Ring Project, which promotes and supports initiatives and charity events to support the fight against cancer. It does this by conducting social contribution activities with its employees to build a sense of unity among Brother facilities around the world.

For more updates and information on Brother activities and events, customers may visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BROTHERatyourside/.

DOT lauds Ibagiw 2020, Baguio’s Creative City Festival

The Department of Tourism (DOT) commends the City Government of Baguio, Baguio Arts and Crafts Collective, Inc., UP Baguio, DOT-CAR and the city government for the successful launch of Ibagiw 2020. The third edition of the month-long creative festival kicked off with a grand opening on November 6, 2020 at the Baguio Convention Center and was also livestreamed on Facebook.

“DOT supports events like Ibagiw because it helps revive tourism and supports economic recovery. More importantly, it brings back jobs and gives hope to the artisans and craftsmen who help make Baguio’s culture unique. The success of Ibagiw is the success of the city’s lifeblood: its creatives,” says Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

This year’s theme is "Breathe Inspiration, Breathe in Baguio." It aims to showcase the city’s vibrant and diverse artistic and cultural heritage, in line with Baguio’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City for Crafts and Folk Arts. The festival is open to the public until November 30.

Ibagiw 2020 puts the city’s heritage and artistic gems in the spotlight with creative and nature crawls every Saturday and Sunday. Attendees can explore and rediscover destinations in the city, such as Museo Kordilyera, the Botanical Garden, Ili-Likha Artists’ Wateringhole, Tam-awan Village, BenCab Museum, and more.

Other exciting events include an artisanal market, crafternoons, a contemporary art exhibition featuring local artists, Art in the Park, the launch of children’s books featuring the artistry of Cordillera weaving, and Anido Artist/Artisans Day. Ibagiw also gives locals the chance to express their creativity in gardening, woodcarving, and other crafts competitions.

Visitors from all over the country are welcome to join the festivities but are encouraged to follow stringent health and safety measures. Travelers are required to register on the VISITA app, where they must upload their RT-PCR test results, itinerary, travel authority, and accommodation details. Upon arrival in Baguio, they are obliged to go to the triage center, present their online registration on the VISITA app or hdf.baguio.gov.ph, and the mentioned requirements.

“We invite everyone to experience a different side of Baguio in the new normal. Ibagiw’s commitment to highlighting the city’s heritage fulfills DOT’s vision to strengthen and push cultural tourism,” adds Puyat.

The Ibagiw 2020 Creative City Festival is held in multiple venues all over the city.

For the complete schedule, visit the Baguio Creative City Facebook page and the festival website: ibagiw.baguioartsandcrafts.org

Golden Haven, one of the largest chains of memorial parks in the country, agile through change

Through the years, Golden Haven Memorial Parks has consistently borne the distinction of being a leader in the deathcare industry. The company first achieved this fine reputation through the elegant and tasteful architectural designs that mark their more than thirty locations nationwide. Soon, visitors came to appreciate how Golden Haven combines the natural beauty that surrounds the parks with thoughtfully designed spaces where families can create new joyful memories as they honor their dearly departed.

But more than the serene beauty of each Golden Haven park, it is the company’s ‘Alagang Golden’ that makes this chain of memorial parks stand out. The Alagang Golden way bolsters the company’s intent to provide the best possible service to its clients. It also drives Golden Haven to constantly innovate and adapt to changes engendered by these trying times.

With the country still in the grip of the pandemic, Golden Haven Memorial Parks demonstrates the Alagang Golden way by investing in the safety of both clients and park employees. The “new normal” being in a state of flux, Golden Haven is primed to keep on providing the same thoughtful service to its clients. This readiness is highlighted in Golden Haven’s “The New Normal But Same Alagang Golden” campaign.

Golden Haven Memorial Parks demonstrates the Alagang Golden way by investing in the safety of both clients and park employees.

Towards this end, Golden Haven has launched the first and only real-time interactive wake viewing in the Philippines, wake connect. By accessing Golden Haven’s official website, bereaved families and kin are able to attend wake and funeral services from the comfort of their homes—and in real-time, too. This way, social distancing can be observed even as loved ones who reside here and abroad pay their last respects to the departed.

Another online service currently available on the official Golden Haven website is a virtual tour of the memorial park, which gives prospective buyers and investors a glimpse of its top-tier amenities. With just a few clicks, they can explore any Golden Haven park virtually—in full screen and with a 360-degree view of its exceptional features, complete with the parks’ solemn ambiance.

Golden Haven constantly innovates and adapts to changes engendered by these trying times.

Finally, Golden Haven’s current clients may now do official transactions online. Making reservations, scheduling park visits, and bills payments can all be completed through the Golden Haven website or by accessing QR codes posted on Golden Haven’s official Facebook page

Golden Haven’s transition into the digital space also applies to advertising. During the last Undas season, Golden Haven introduced a new way of storytelling, through their golden moments campaign, a series of heart-warming video presentations that can now be seen on their website through scanning a QR code on their newspaper ads, a first in the industry.

“These are trying times for everyone,” says Red Rosales, COO of Golden Haven. “But Golden Haven rises to the occasion by providing efficient digital services to our clients. The same Alagang Golden philosophy that makes us a leading name in the Philippine deathcare industry is set to ensure that our clients may honor memories of their dearly departed under any or all circumstances.”

Golden Haven is a subsidiary of publicly listed Golden Bria Holdings Inc., currently positioned as one of the largest real estate companies in the country in terms of market capitalization valued at more than 200 billion pesos.
