How these top-performing sellers grow their businesses through Shopee’s mega sales

Shopee’s Seller Recognition Operations Awardees highlight how efficient operations contribute to online success
In the Philippines, double day dates such as 9.9 and 11.11 have become highly anticipated due to shopping festivals offered by platforms such as Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan. In fact, last year over 2 billion items were purchased by shoppers during 11.11 alone across the region. This uptick in purchases made during mega-sales allowed more than 1,000 local sellers across the region to exceed US$100,000 in sales during Shopee’s year-end festivals in 2021.

Alongside hard work and determination, the success of Shopee sellers relies heavily on how efficiently they operate. This is especially true during mega-sales where the opportunity for growth is high. For this reason, Shopee recognizes sellers who go above and beyond in time for Shopee’s mega-sale days through its Seller Recognition Operations Awards.

Martin Yu, Shopee Philippines Director, said, “Shopee has always been committed to helping businesses create long-term, sustainable e-commerce strategies in today’s digital economy. Through the Seller Recognition Operations Awards, we are able to highlight top-performing sellers in this regard, as well as their strategies and insights which their fellow sellers can learn from and apply to their businesses.”

Jenna Indigado, owner of Small Wonders Page and a recent awardee, is among those who diligently prepares for and maximizes mega-sale days to grow her business on Shopee. She decided to become a full-fledged Shopee seller in 2020 when her agricultural business was affected by the African Swine Flu (ASF) breakout that year.

“After our hog-raising business was affected by ASF, I made the decision to sell on Shopee full-time. I already had a part-time reselling business on the platform in 2018 so I knew the potential for growth was huge especially if I committed my time and resources to it.”

She went on to hire a local seamstress to grow her reselling business into one that manufactures clothing for babies. Today, she employs more than 300 Filipinos.

“There were only two of us when we started the Small Wonders Page at Shopee. Now, we employ around 250 local seamstresses and 70 employees who have gone on to fulfill their dreams and even purchase their own cars and houses. Without Shopee, we wouldn’t be able to provide jobs for these Filipinos,” she said.

She says her experience as a Shopee seller, the platform’s features, as well as guidance from her dedicated relationship manager are key factors for her business success especially during mega-sale days.

“Having a dedicated relationship manager helps us create strategies to maintain product visibility, eliminate backlog, and fast-track order processing and fulfillment during mega-sales. During campaigns we also make sure to utilize features such as Chat Broadcast, ShopeeLive, and ShopeeAds in order to connect with our customers and inform them about our new products, discounts, and deals.”

Charles Barrientos of Mikana store, a recent awardee as well, also shares that alongside the hard work that comes with preparing for mega-sale days, these highly anticipated dates are integral to their business. His decision to launch Mikana, a store that specializes in jewelry, on Shopee was because he learned about how Shopee provides features and guidance to cater to its sellers’ growth. Besides these tools, he says constant adjustments and preparation are what help drive his business success.
“Preparing for peak days and seasons comes with its challenges because of the sudden increase in demand. There are times wherein we have to extend our operations and double our efforts especially since mega-sale days are a big part of our sales.”

He also highlights how Shopee’s user-centric platform helps them maintain a good relationship with their customers. “Shopee has an efficient customer service feature which allows us to address the concerns of our customers directly and improve how we serve them.”

Like Jenna and Charles, you can conveniently join Shopee as a seller and grow your business today. Learn more and Get Started on Shopee.

Gloc-9 Has A Confession To Make In His New Single “Kumpisal” Featuring Skusta Clee

The one and only Makata Sa Pinas Gloc-9 is releasing yet another single this May! This new song is called "Kumpisal", the Filipino rap icon’s third release for his Pilak album in celebration of his 25th anniversary in the Philippine music industry. Joining him in this string-fueled and vibrant collaboration is Skusta Clee, who’s undoubtedly one of the most popular rap artists on the OPM scene today.

Written and composed by Gloc-9 with musical arrangement, mixed, and mastered by Thyro Alfaro, "Kumpisal" looks into the dynamics of the Catholic sacrament of confession from the perspective of a confessee.

The lyrics? It’s classic Gloc-9 in his prime that you’ve always loved — bathed in cryptic wordplay and ethereally anthemic that even this mundane topic can transform into a poetic masterpiece. Gloc-9 said that he already wrote different songs on various topics, but releasing a song about religion and spirituality? Not yet. Thus, this song was carefully crafted and was made possible this year.

Joining the veteran hip-hop superstar in this latest endeavor is Skusta Clee and this the second time that these two rap idols have collaborated. Their first pairing was in Skusta Clee's single "Karma" wherein the Gloc-9 wrote the rap part. Its official music video released last November 2021 now has over 27 million views on YouTube and even reached #1 Trending For Music.

An official music video for “Kumpisal” is released alongside the single. The zany visual directed by Kirby Balagtas of YouMeUs MNL was shot inside a church with guest appearances by Shanti Dope, DJ Klumcee and Hellmerry. The exclusive premiere of the music video transpired during the intimate “Kumpisal” press conference inside a classy movie theater. (WATCH OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO HERE)

Prior to this release, Gloc-9 was able to drop singles “Paliwanag” with Yeng Constantino and the title “Pilak” as part of his 25th anniversary album. Check out "Kumpisal" on your favorite music streaming platforms.

Red Ribbon’s Gift Box shows that there’s no better day to give love than today

From little gestures to life-changing moments, happiness can be found in the things and relationships we encounter every day. With so many things happening all around us, it’s clear that what the world needs now is more love. It’s also the little things that make someone’s day brighter and complete.
The Gift Box was filled with balloons representing all the love people gave that day.

Red Ribbon, known for their delicious celebration cakes and pastries, enabled people from all walks of life to express their sweetest feelings of love with the Give Love Today “Gift Box” event held on April 23 at 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. This was an initiative that encouraged people to share love not only to those close to them but also to the rest of the world.

“Red Ribbon has a 43-year-old love story with Filipinos, where we are present at their special celebrations. The Gift Box event was our way of encouraging people to share their love not just on special occasions but every day. We want families to be able to express their love more openly to each other and friends to let each other know how special they are. This is our way of sharing love and happiness, especially as we are emerging from the pandemic,” says Red Ribbon Marketing Head Cathleen Capati.

Watch or relive how people gave love and how Red Ribbon shared love with everyone by watching the Red Ribbon Give Love Today “Gift Box” event video on their official Facebook page.

Giving love today is made sweeter with Red Ribbon favorites

All we need is love, sweet love

From couples celebrating their love, children who tell their parents how much they are appreciated, to friends who are thankful to have each other, the Give Love Today campaign showed them that all we need is love and there’s no better feeling than expressing it or receiving it.

At the event, people expressed how much they love their family and the special people in their lives with messages ranging from simple “I love you”s to all-out performances.
EJ Miranda (left) showing her aunt Trely Miranda (right) how much she appreciates and loves her for everything she did, especially the support she gave when she was battling cancer.

EJ Miranda thanked her aunt, Trely Miranda, for raising her and, in the darkest moments of her life, being her rock.

“I was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and my aunt helped me through my treatments and supported me all the way. I wouldn’t be alive without her,” EJ said through tears. “She also raised me since I was a child. It’s like she gave her life for me, that’s why I love her so much.

Zedric Schneider meanwhile thanked his dad for doing his best as a single father after his wife passed away.

"Thank you for being the best dad. It must have been hard being a single dad, especially without mama, but you did it," he told his father.
After singing “Got to Believe in Magic” as a tribute to the love his parents had for each other, Zedric Schneider and his father took home a ukulele and a Red Ribbon cake.

In an impromptu performance, he also paid tribute to the love his parents had for each other by singing their theme song, David Pomeranz's "Got to Believe in Magic."

"'Cause it's magic when my parents fell in love," Zedric sang.

Each message was made even sweeter with the Red Ribbon gift box containing their favorite Red Ribbon products and other amazing items, such as stuffed toys, roses, ukeleles, inflatable pools, and even a foldable bike.

As a special treat for the crowd, Red Ribbon also gave away pastry packs to share with their loved ones and encourage them to give love every day.

The Give Love Today Gift Box event showed that expressions of love should not be reserved for special occasions, as there are many types of love. Kind gestures to family, friends, and even those you encounter outside your home, can show how much you care can really make a difference in someone else’s day.

Share love today with Red Ribbon’s delicious treats such as its best-selling Black Forest Cake, Chocolate Dedication cake, Triple Chocolate Roll, Cheesy Ensaimada, and Butter Mamon. These are available at Red Ribbon counters, store delivery, or through your favorite food delivery apps.
