The Galaxy Watch has been an indispensable partner to the Galaxy smartphone since 2018 for achieving fitness goals and tracking other health and wellness activities. But did you know that it also works as a portable planner for tasks and makes a great extension to your phone?

Five years since the launch of the first Galaxy Watch, it has evolved from a fitness tracker, to being a complement for the Galaxy smartphone in keeping tabs on different activities on your apps. Sporting a mini chatbox, planner, radio, and fitness tracker on your wrist has never been this helpful!

If you are deciding on getting your own Galaxy Watch, here are a list of ways it can make tasks so much easier or more fun when it’s synced to your Galaxy smartphone:

Track your health stats

Stay on top of your wellness goals as you check health data both on your Galaxy smartphone and Galaxy Watch. The Samsung Health app can be synced from your phone to the Galaxy Watch just by tapping “More Options” then “Settings”. Select the Samsung Watch accessory or “Scan for accessories” if not listed. This also allows you to also check on your heart rate and Electrocardiogram (ECG) levels from the app through your Galaxy Watch. At the end of a long busy day, sleep with your Galaxy Watch on and wake up to a sleep report of your body movements, heart rate, and oxygen levels.

Keep tabs on emails and schedules

As you gear up for a busy day ahead, checking your schedule and emails via your phone while on the way to work could be a hazard. But it's super easy to stay connected with your Galaxy Watch - you can sync your Gmail and Calendar app so your meetings and reminders are right on your wrist. You can even check your emails through the Galaxy watch, and recite your reply through the microphone and it will transcribe to text!

Play music on-the-go

Enjoy your favorite playlist during a workout, in transit, or as ambient sounds while finishing tasks at work from your Galaxy Watch through your connected Galaxy smartphone. Just ensure that the settings on your phone have the “Auto sync” on. To never miss the countless tunes on your Spotify playlist, simply download the app and your favorite tracks to your Galaxy Watch. Your tracks can be played even offline without having to bring out your phone with your your earbuds or the Watch’s speakers.

Check and respond to messages, anytime

If you receive a message via messaging apps in the middle of a workout or while enjoying a meal with friends, you can check or even type a quick reply using your Galaxy Watch as long as the message notification is activated. When a new message is received, a slight vibration or sound alert will appear immediately on screen. If you miss the alert, you can go back to the message by swiping the watch face to the right and you can compose a quick reply by tapping an emoji or tying a message.

Sync your devices fuss free

Enjoy all of these functions with your Samsung Watch when you connect it to your Samsung smartphone! Just enable your phone’s Bluetooth and the watch will connect to the phone. If you are connecting the watch to a new phone, simply reset your watch by pressing the “Home” and “Back” buttons and wait for reset to finish. Upon finishing the reset, go to “Settings” on the watch and select “General”. Then tap, “Connect to a new phone” and you’re good to maximize your Samsung Watch functions without having to pull out your phone.

How these top-performing sellers grow their businesses through Shopee’s mega sales

“Having a dedicated relationship manager helps us create strategies to maintain product visibility, eliminate backlog, and fast-track order processing and fulfillment during mega-sales. Charles Barrientos of Mikana store, a recent awardee as well, also shares that alongside the hard work that comes with preparing for mega-sale days, these highly anticipated dates are integral to their business. His decision to launch Mikana, a store that specializes in jewelry, on Shopee was because he learned about how Shopee provides features and guidance to cater to its sellers’ growth. Besides these tools, he says constant adjustments and preparation are what help drive his business success.
“Preparing for peak days and seasons comes with its challenges because of the sudden increase in demand. There are times wherein we have to extend our operations and double our efforts especially since mega-sale days are a big part of our sales.”

Shopee and Unilever Say Yes to Equal Opportunities and Continue its Support for Local Sellers through its Positive Beauty Campaign

Mano Amiga sellers share how Shopee and Unilever helped them grow their businesses

As more Filipinos shift to online shopping for their daily necessities, many businesses are also turning to digital platforms to widen their reach and establish a strong online presence - especially the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). To cater to the growing number of online sellers, Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, continues to partner with organizations to support MSMEs who are looking for better opportunities in e-commerce.


In 2020 Unilever and Mano Amiga, a non-governmental organization that advocates for community transformation and inclusive growth through education, first partnered with Shopee for their Beauty That Cares Campaign, to offer assistance to 25 micro-entrepreneurs. Through this partnership, Mano Amiga sellers gained a strong understanding of e-commerce and learned how to maximize the digital space’s full potential. Sellers had access to monetary funding, entrepreneurship training programs, and Shopee’s e-commerce tools to help them expand their reach. Two Mano Amiga sellers share how Unilever and Shopee supported their business growth:

For Janette Lagundi, a mother of two, it was tough when she first started her online business. Despite having no prior entrepreneurship experience, she decided to start selling cleaning products and home decor items such as Himalayan salt lamps, to get her family through the pandemic. She admitted that it was difficult for her to adjust to selling on e-commerce platforms as she was not very tech-savvy.


Through learning the ropes at Shopee, Janette saw her business thrived. “Because of Shopee, not only are my sales increasing, my store is also gaining better recognition through plenty of promotions. I learned a lot about selling online through the training programs and masterclasses. I am determined to explore more opportunities on e-commerce, and I’m glad that Shopee and Unilever helped me adjust and adapt amid the pandemic,” she said.


She added that the support from Shopee and Unilever helped her family immensely. “This business is my bread and butter and I feel more confident in growing my business because I am more competent now. Because of this opportunity, I can provide for my children.”

Cecilia Comia used to run a food business and even designed her own food stalls, but due to the pandemic, she had to shut down her food business and focus on selling decal stickers and labels instead. “We started our business in 2018 with a passion for good design and we wanted people to appreciate and see how small design details can change an entire product or experience,” she said. The strategy shift, although promising, posed some obstacles. “The competition is tough online. Reaching a wider audience and achieving effective customer engagement are both constant challenges. We are still struggling when it comes to establishing our business. The prices of our competitors are tough to match,” she added.


Shopee and Unilever provided her with the much-needed support. “Unilever’s program connected us with Shopee. It gave us an edge in terms of knowledge in selling online. Unilever’s financial assistance also helped us with our cash flow and allowed us to increase our stocks and improve our equipment.”

Creamy Tuna and Mushroom Pasta, hearty dish and perfect for this lent season

Creamy Tuna and Mushroom Pasta is a quick and easy, hearty dish with canned tuna, packed with goodies and coated in a delicious sauce. 

Comfort food, healthy food, definite diet-buster, winning dinner or snack every day, and is the perfect food this lent season. 

CREAMY TUNA AND MUSHROOM PASTA

Ingredients:

1/4

cup

MAGNOLIA GOLD BUTTER UNSALTED

2

tbsp

minced onion

1/2

cup

sliced button mushrooms

1 (298 g)

can

cream of mushroom soup

2

cups

MAGNOLIA FRESH MILK

1 (185 g)

can

SAN MIGUEL DEL MAR TUNA CHUNKS IN OIL

1

tbsp

chopped dill leaves (optional)

1/4

kg

spaghetti noodles, cooked according to package directions

Procedure:

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté onion and mushrooms.
  2. Add cream of mushroom and milk. Mix until lump-free and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in tuna and dill, and simmer until sauce thickens, stirring occasionally.
  4. Toss pasta into the sauce.  

Makes 6 servings. 

Yield: 6 cups

Tip/s:  

  • Substitute dill leaves with chopped parsley or basil leaves.
  • Add sliced black olives for flavor boost.
