Rigette Osoteo is the Electrolux-wok-a-holic Kitchen Star!

The much awaited grand finals of the Electrolux-Wok-a-holic was held last Saturday, July 8 in Cash and Carry Mall in Makati. Rigette, with her blogger partner Aylin Vedad, won over the 5 contestants and partners - Izza Quintos and Carl Valenzona, Georgia Shirar and JR Bustamante, Roki Ferrer and Enzo Luna, JM Darlucio and Iris Pulga, and Rosarie Peñaflor and John Bueno.

As her moment shines, Rigette takes home the grand prize, a culinary scholarship from CCA Manila, an Electrolux kitchen showcase and more other gifts.

Witnessing this amazing cooking competition, as more excitingly that Elecrolux invited bloggers to become contestants' official Wok-a-holic partners. Not just being as the online partners, who help them in campaigning for the People’s Choice Awards, but being the real partners in the cooking challenge showdown.

"Ulan 2012 ABS-CBN Station ID"

ABS-CBN has just released its rain season "Ulan 2012 Station ID" premiered on Monday, July 9 on TV Patrol. Titled "Da Best Ang Feeling," this year's station ID for the rainy season was performed by singer-actress Toni Gonzaga, with the tag "Masarap ang Feeling 'Pag Ikaw ang Kapiling."

The Kapamilya network's rainy season campaign features some of the brightest stars in Philippine showbiz including (in order of appearance) John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Toni, Joem Bascon, Melissa Ricks, Paulo Avelino, Julia Montes, Coco Martin, Jake Cuenca, Iza Calzado, Andi Eigenmann, Jodi Sta. Maria, Richard Yap, Carmina Villaroel, Zaijian Jaranilla, Charee Pineda, JM De Guzman, Kaye Abad, John Prats, Denise Laurel, Martin Del Rosario, Khalil Ramos, Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, Enrique Gil, Matteo Guidicelli, Jessy Mendiola, Jewel Mische, Matt Evans, Dom Roque, Paul Salas, Ella Cruz, Enchong Dee, Maja Salvador, Xian Lim, Kim Chiu and KC Concepcion.

Secrets Among Friends: Mga Mumunting Lihim and the "Unspoken"

Just how much do you know your best friends? How many years have you spend together?  How many happy and sad experiences have you shared? How much of your lives do you know about each other? 

Are you really sure you know your best friends? When your back is turned or when you are around, are you sure that they are still your friends? Or what do you think they say about you? 

Can you really know somebody completely? They say that sometimes your friends know you more than your family, but can you really honestly say that you can completely trust anybody - including your best friends?

Mga Mumunting Lihim ( Those Little Secrets) is a film about  friendship. It is about the solidity of bonding among people who have known each other  for years. It is also about fragility of friendship , and how you can never claim to know somebody in his or her entirety?

An entry in the Directors Showcase of Cinemalaya 2012, Mga Mumunting Lihim is a film written by Jose Javier Reyes, produced by Largavista Entertainment. Starring in the film are Iza Calzado, Agot Isidro, Janice de Belen and Judy Ann Santos as the four female friends whose lives changed because of one significant event that almost shattered the chain linked their lives together.

This is Reyes' first indie movie. And by casting the best and finest of mainstream stars, Reyes hopes to share the opportunity to do the kind of work that commercial filmmaking does not have the liberty to accomodate. AT the same time, this was the opportunity of the four lead actors to do roles which they would not have otherwise done in their commercial projects.

By bringing the mainstream stars to do a work that is produced and embodies the indie spirit, Reyes hoped to create that happy median called "maindie" that will bring the commercial audiences to finally discover and love independent films as part of their everyday culture.

BuCor Iron Bar Chef Showdown Grandfinals

The Bureau of Corrections or BuCor, mandated to carry out institutional rehabilitation programs for the inmates.Their rehabilitation effort is to provide the basic needs of inmate as human being. The other steps in the rehabilitation process are the provision of work programs, health care, education and skills training, recreation and sports, religious guidance and behavior modification using the therapeutic community approach.

As envisioned, the BuCor is now being a modern, secured and professional correction institution which is characterized by a more responsive prison system that is geared towards the humane and spiritually guided rehabilitation of inmates, for their re-integration into the mainstream of society.

Gladly and luckily we witnessed one of the activities inside the Bucor Maximum Security Compound, a very lively Iron Bar Chef Showdown. I have witnessed the one cooking challenge last June 16 held at the Medium Security Compound. And last June 30, we were there to witnessed the grand finals of the cooking showdown, held at the Maximum compound.

Six groups compete, three from the Medium Compound and three from the Maximum Compound. They were named Team Sarap, Team Namit, Team Yum-Yum, Team Lolong Pogi, Team Planet and Team Uban.

They were given 60 minutes to the challenge to  create the dishes , an appetizer, the main dish and dessert. Each dish will be judged according to it’s taste, nutritional value and over-all creativity.

There were seven judges and one of them is Chef Gene Del Prado, an executive sous chef of Makati-Shangrila Plaza Hotel.  Prizes stake are P15,000 for the first place, P10,000 for the second place and P5,000 for the third place.

The event definitely served its purpose (and exceeded expectations) The Iron Bar Chef  Challenge was a great fun and we were given the chance to taste their masterpiece, the food was very delicious.

So all in all, a wonderful day. I hope to another tour in the near future, as I would like to delve into this more.

This is one great part of the Bureau of Correctional Director Gaudencio Pangilinan's rehabilitation program. As BuCor  offers a variety of inmate work programs and this is one great re-shaping an individual’s behavior and attitudes through the inmates’ community working together to help themselves and each other, restoring self confidence, and preparing them for their re-integration into their families and friends as productive members of the community.
