Google doodles German Musician and Composer Clara Schumann's 193rd birthday

Google posted a new doodle on its homepage to  mark the 193rd birth anniversary of Clara Schumann, the German musician and composer,  Clara Schumann (Clara Josephine Wieck; 13 September 1819 – 20 May 1896) was a German musician and composer, considered one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era.

She exerted her influence over a 61-year concert career, changing the format and repertoire of the piano recital and the tastes of the listening public. She’s married to the composer Robert Schumann.

The doodle features Clara Schumann playing the piano, with her eight children clinging to her, thereby replacing the two O's and the second G of the Google logo. The colours of the doodle are in sync with Google's official logo colours - blue, red, yellow and green.

"The Voice" Jed Madela signs contract with Star Records

After nine years with Universal Records, singer and world-class performer Jed Madela inked a contract with the music recording company of ABS-CBN, Star Records last Thursday, September 7, 2012.

Often called him as "The Voice" and "The Singer's Singer", Jed Madela is one of the best male singers the country has ever produced. He possesses one of the most clear and the most powerful voice that anyone can possess.

Jed  is looking forward for the release of his album next year. The album will still have the kind of songs where Jed is known for. He hopes to collaborate with other artist and even writing his own songs. He also said that he wanted to audition to the Phantom of the Opera that’s currently staging at the Cultural Center of the Philippines but they didn’t have an audition for the musical.

Jed is a mainstay of ABS CBN's Sunday noontime show ASAP. Jed is currently enjoying sell-out concerts in the Philippines and around the world.

Jed made made a name last 2005 World Championships of the Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Hollywood California.  He won all major industry awards, 6 gold medals for all 6 categories he joined in the World Star Trophy and the most coveted and ultimate title "Grand Champion Performer of the World", the first Filipino to win the title. He bested over 3,000 contestants from 52 countries to win the grand prize.

WCOPA is the first and only international series of competitions that seek to find and crown the best aspiring performing artists on earth. The talent search is an "Olympics-style" competition in which singers compete only against other singers, dance groups compete only against other dance groups, and so on.

Jed has released five albums to date. Debut album “I’ll Be Around” includes the radio smash “Let Me Love You (From The Bottom Of My Heart)”. His second album “Songs Rediscovered” was certified DOUBLE PLATINUM, while his third album “Only Human” went GOLD. He also released a Christmas CD “The Voice Of Christmas”. And Jed Madela's last album “Songs Rediscovered 2: The Ultimate OPM Playlist”, the perfect follow-up to the Double Platinum-certified “Songs Rediscovered”. This is a distinguished collection of timeless OPM songs from the '80s and '90s sung to perfection by a voice that is once heard, never forgotten.

There are many songs - OPM and foreign songs I love, and I love Jed Madela seeing him in many performances he do.  One of my fave song, I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing:)

Raimund Marasigan, Yeng Constantino, and Pochoy Labog have collaborated on the campaign theme song “Tayo Na,” which is featured in a music video that premiered September  5 on Studio 23, ANC, DZMM TeleRadyo and ABS-CBN.

“Tayo Na” was created by ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management headed by Robert Labayen for ABS-CBN News & Current Affairs, which is headed by Ging Reyes together with Chi Almario and Inday Varona.

MULTI-DISC PACKAGE CELEBRATES INCUBUS’ 20 YEARS TOGETHER

INCUBUS HQ LIVE (CD + DVD, OUT NOW)

In summer of 2011, celebrating their 20^th year together, alt-rock giants Incubus turned a Los Angeles storefront space into a low-key, hi-tech residency that resulted in six nights of free performances and fan encounters now chronicled on INCUBUS HQ LIVE.  The celebration takes place across a multi-disc package released by Ivory Music & Video, the exclusive licensee of Sony Music in the Philippines.

INCUBUS HQ LIVE coincides with the opening of the 2012 Honda Civic Tour Featuring Linkin Park and Incubus.  The 4-week, 18-city tour of the U.S. and Canada starts at Comcast Center in Boston and concludes at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in San Diego on September 10^th.  

Dedicated to fans and friends, Incubus HQ Live, as the gallery-sized storefront space on busy La Brea Avenue in West Hollywood was aptly named last year, was the answer to a question the band had been thinking about for a while.  “After twenty years,” writes lead singer Brandon Boyd in his liner notes essay (the same for all three configu­ra­­­­tions), “7 albums, multiple live albums, EPs, DVDs, somewhere in the ball­park of 1,500 live shows, what could we do to introduce our newest album, If Not Now, When? in a manner that was both unique and memorable?”

Their first studio album in nearly five years at the time called for thinking outside the box.  Playful options ranged from going door-to-door with the album to 3:00 a.m. infomercials.  Or could they “invite fans into our living room and play the f***ing album live for them?…Wait,” Brandon mused.  “That is actually not a terrible idea, minus the f***ing part.”

Utilizing social media enabled fans to contact Incubus, who then replied with an assigned date and time to show up for the HQ gigs.  After building out the space to accommodate fans and crew, seven nights of performances were set. The resulting CDs and DVD catch the action on six nights that were broadcast live on the Internet.  It was all a prelude to the July 12^th release of If Not Now, When? which debuted at #2 on the Soundscan chart.

Along with the hit songs, deep album tracks and fan favorites performed in an intimate setting, INCUBUS HQ LIVE showcases the personalities of band members Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger (lead guitar, piano, backing vocals), Chris Kilmore (keyboards, turntables), Ben Kenney (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Jose Pasillas II (drums).  The fan interaction, instrument lessons with the band, and overall feel of the space give the DVD warmth and character.

Book Signing with "Pogi" - from a Parallel Universe !

The 33^rd Manila International Book Fair will have a fun and great talented celebrity RJ Ledesma  who wears many hats! And,  he just wishes he had just as many heads.

Aside from hosting television shows, weddings and events, organizing the Mercato Centrale group of food markets, editing a men’s magazine and writing a weekly newspaper column, (and yes, he was ‘Joey’ in the Royal Tru-Orange that came out in the eighties), RJ is also the author behind four best-selling humor books Lies My Yaya Should Have Told Me (2008), I Do Or I Die (2009), Is It Hot In Here Or Is It Me? (2010) and It Only Hurts When I Pee (2011) from Anvil Publishing.  His third book, Is It Hot In Here Or Is It Me, was a National Book Award Finalist in the 30^th National Book Awards. His books are a collection of his “Pogi from a Parallel Universe” columns in the Philippine Star.
