Repertory Philippines proudly announces its second offering for the year 2013 with “ No Way To Treat A Lady ” a musical comedy thriller with book, music and lyrics by Douglas J. Cohen based on the best-selling novel and renowned movie by William Goldman.
“No Way To Treat A Lady” directed by Audie Gemora, is a musical comic thriller chronicling the exploits of a 1970s momma's boy serial killer – who draws a red lipstick kiss on the forehead of each of his victims as a calling card – and the hardened momma's boy cop hell-bent on tracking him down.

As a witty, snappy, dark, and wickedly entertaining black comedy, the music and lyrics of “No Way To Treat a Lady” are magical --- you will actually start humming melodies that stay with you. All the elements come together to illustrate what a first-rate musical should be!

With five actors playing 17 roles, the cast features Audie Gemora as Christopher ‘Kit’ Gill; Joel Trinidad as Morris Brummel; Carla Guevara-Laforteza as Sarah Stone; Sheila Francisco as Flora Brummel; Pinky Marquez as Alexandra Gill; and Jamie Wilson as Christopher Gill (Stand In).

Within the course of the play, Christopher Gill disguises himself as seven other characters: an Irish priest, an Arthur Murray dance class instructor, a French waiter, a telephone repairman, a pizza delivery messenger, a New York cop, and a female barfly.

NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY received a Fred Ebb Award for Musical Theatre Songwriting, a Richard Rodgers grant, and a nomination for Best Revival by the New York Outer Critics Circle.

Moriones Festival 2013

The Moriones is an annual colorful festival held on Holy Week in Marinduque. The "Moriones" are men and women in costumes and masks replicating the garb of biblical Roman soldiers as interpreted by local folks. The Moriones or Moryonan tradition has inspired the creation of other festivals in the Philippines where cultural practices or folk history is turned into street festivals.
Morion means "mask" or "visor," a part of the medieval Roman armor which covers the face. Moriones, on the other hand, refers to the masked and costumed penitents who march around the town for seven days searching for Longinus. Morions roam the streets in town from Holy Monday to Easter Sunday scaring the kids, or engaging in antics or surprises to draw attention. This is a folk-religious festival that re-enacts the story of Saint Longinus, a Roman centurion who was blind in one eye. The festival is characterized by colorful Roman costumes, painted masks and helmets, and brightly colored tunics. The towns of Boac, Gasan, Santa Cruz, Buenavista and Mogpog in the island of Marinduque become one gigantic stage. The observances form part of the Lenten celebrations of Marinduque.  The various towns also hold the unique tradition of the pabasa or the recitation of Christ's passion in verse. Then at three o'clock on Good Friday afternoon, the Santo Sepulco is observed, whereby old women exchange verses based on the Bible as they stand in wake of the dead Christ. One of the highlights of this festival is the Via Crusis.  A re-enactment of the suffering of Christ on his way to the calvary. Men inflict suffering upon themselves by whipping their backs, carrying a wooden cross and sometimes even crucifixion. They see this act as their form of atonement for their sins. This weeklong celebration starts on Holy Monday and ends on Easter Sunday. (Wikipedia)

Inspirational Story from Nick Vujicic

"I realized that I may not have hands to hold my wife's hand but when the time comes, I'll be able to hold her heart." - Nick Vujicic

Nick uses his unique story to spread hope and inspire people all around the world.

Nick Vujicic, who was born without limbs, married Kanae Miyahara on February 12 in a romantic ceremony in California, and now the happy couple is enjoying their honeymoon in Hawaii, Nollywoodgossip has learned.

Just like any other newlyweds, they are spending their romantic vacation relaxing on the beach, taking holiday photos and enjoying sunset cocktails – the only thing that makes them different is that Nick has no arms or legs, but that’s never stopped him from fulfilling any of this life dreams so it certainly wasn’t going to prevent him from making a trip down the aisle.

Born in 1982 in Brisbane, Australia, there was no medical explanation or warning to suggest that Nick was going to be different from any other baby until his birth. Parents Pastor Boris and Dushka Vujicic were determined that his disability wouldn’t prevent their son from leading a normal life, or even skateboarding like other kids!

After a tough time in school being bullied for being different, Nick went to college and got a double Bachelor’s degree, majoring in Accounting and Financial Planning from Griffith University in Logan, Australia.

Instead of wallowing in his misfortunate, Nick was determined to make the most of the cards God dealt him and help others. “I found the purpose of my existence, and also the purpose of my circumstance. There’s a purpose for why you’re in the fire,” he wrote on his website for his non-profit organization, LifeWithoutLimbs.org.

Vujicic has since made a name for himself traveling around the world as a motivational speaker, and finally made the big move from Australia to California in 2007, where he popped the question to Kanae last August.
