The Avida Food Hunt with Chef JJ Yulo

“People who love to eat are always the best people.” A saying I like but I want to add more. Traveller, tourists and tripping people who not only love to eat, but are infinitely interested in all restaurants or places where to see all things edible -- come from all corners of the globe and all walks of life!

In fact, these people is one of the world's great equalizers, because it allows socially, culturally and economically diverse people to meet on equal footing as they appreciate the merits of various culinary offerings.

Filipinos are noted for their knack on exploring and trying out the newest dining destinations. The passion for great is so ingrained in the Filipino culture that access to it is vital to a truly dynamic lifestyle.

the Avida Food Hunt kicks off this March with Avida Towers Asten, a high-rise residential development in West Makati that is envisioned to have a dynamic mix of retail and dining options catering to the needs of the passionate millennial crowd. Avida Towers Asten inviting people to join Avida Food Hunt with Chef JJ Yulo leading this special gastronomical adventure.

The Avida Food Hunt is a food expedition wherein participants will get a taste of a sampling of specialty cuisines and epicurean fares in the neighboring Avida development. They will only discover which restaurant is part of the hunt as the tour progresses.

Founder of Pinoy Eats World, well-known chef, food write-blogger Chef JJ Yulo leads the hunt. Pinoy Eats World is dedicated to food culture, motivated to give the public an interesting and always delicious look at Pinoy Food.

This New York Institute of Culinary Education Chef has hosted several food tours in the country, Hong Kong and as far as Turkey. Yulo is passionate about discovering about food evolution and is most pleased to share his knowledge to all.

I remembered a field educational trip as I was coordinating with the schools and was enjoying the tour with the students. Now, it’s more fun that this food trip was a secret tour that will explore the different food destination in San Antonio Village, West Makati.

The Avida Food Hunt is a food expedition wherein participants will get a taste of a sampling of specialty cuisines and epicurean fares in the neighboring Avida development. They will only discover which restaurant is part of the hunt as the tour progresses.

The first stop is Carpaccio Ristorante Italiano, located right across Avida Asten. This popular restaurant has become a premiere destination for food and wine lovers seeking a classic Italian dining experience.

The first food we taste is the Carpaccio, a delectable dish of thinly sliced choice cut grade A beef served with cheese and fresh green salad on the side. This is a must try for everyone!

The 2nd destination - TK Authentic Masters Singaporean Food

TK Authentic Masters Singaporean Food has been providing a variety of services—from buffets and ala carte dining to budget meal toppings and food deliveries—to the people of San Antonio Village and beyond since 2012.

Specializing in gastronomic selection that speaks of a fusion of flavors representing various cultures from all over the world, TK offers an excellent selection of dishes that satisfy even the most discriminating palates.
Their popular offerings include Singaporean staples such as a char kway teow (stir-fry noodles), savory cereal prawn, and the refreshing Kopi O, a traditional iced coffee concoction served in Malaysia and Singapore.

The next joint was HK Roast.

This cozy hole-in-the-wall favorite along Bagtikan Street is an ode to the tai pai dong, the small open eateries found on the busy roadsides of Hong Kong.
HK Roast serves an array of Hong Kong-style comfort food like the mouth-watering roast duck, best eaten with a steaming bowl of rice and a glass of bubble milk tea. This is I recommend! I love the mouth-watering roast duck!

The next destination of Avida Food Hunt was at Titania Wine Bar and Café

Titania Wine Bar and Café, a fine dining restaurant inside the Titania Grand Cellar along Yakal Street in San Antonio Village, Makati.
Fun and really an educational trip ! Titania is a mecca for all kinds of wines. We were given a crash course on wine appreciation and were able to taste fine wines imported from France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, Chile, California, and Australia.

We ended on a sweet note with a sampling of assorted desserts at Sophie’s Mom.

Nestled along the posh Santol Street, this quaint bakeshop is a dreamland for anyone with a sweet tooth. Displayed on their shelves are luscious cakes, cupcakes, mocha-truffles, mocha ice cream, and a tasty selection of specialty breads baked fresh everyday—the way Sophie’s mom, owner Marie Antoinette Rosal, makes her treats for her daughter.

The Avida Food Hunt is the project of Avida because they want people to realize that Avida developments provide comfort and convenience to their residents.

The Avida is in the communities where everything is near, access to good life and great food and restaurants we tour are all in the vicinity of Avida Towers Asten.

Get a chance to win one of the 50 gadgets to be raffled off when you come and celebrate Allphones’ 50th Store at Robinsons Galleria

Allphones Philippines will hold a fun celebration of the launch of its 50th store set to open in Robinsons Galleria on April 3, 2014, with trade event that will run until April 6, 2014. Allphones, the fastest growing mobile phone retail chain in the country, will welcome it’s 50th store’s first batch of customers with affordable, high value-for-money, features-packed postpaid deals and the widest selection of mobile phones in stock.

Customers who will go to the store on its launch day will also get the chance to win one of the 50 gadgets to be raffled off. And of course, customers will also get to enjoy the leveled-up retail experience that only Allphones stores provide. This experience includes the sleek, functional, and efficient design and look of the store; the high-tech, futuristic postpaid application process; and the chance to sample live demo units of various mobile phones.

“Allphones stores are the only ones in the country to offer a digital, paperless, and environment-friendly process of postpaid plan application. Customers will enter and process their application using one of the store’s iPads. There’s no more need to fill-out paper documents, making the transaction very fast and convenient,” said Maureen Gallant, Head of Marketing for Allphones Philippines..

According to Gallant, the opening of the 50th Allphones store at the Galleria is a milestone not only for Allphones Philippines but also for the mobile phone retail sector. Allphones Philippines started its operations in the country in the first quarter of 2013.

“Thanks to the enthusiastic response of Filipino mobile phone users, we were able to establish 50 stores in less than a year. This is unique in the history of mobile phone retail in the Philippines. For us, this is tangible proof that Allphones stores are providing what the market wants and deserves. So it’s only right that, after all the support that our company has received from Filipino mobile phone users, we are celebrating our 50th store launching with this event,” she said.

Gallant added that Allphones Philippines successfully captured its market by providing something new and exciting in terms of retail experience: a blend of convenience, more choices, value for money, and futuristic technology. The clincher, she noted, is Allphones Philippines’ offerings of exclusive, highly-affordably yet features-rich postpaid deals that is only possible through their partnership with Globe Telecom.

Allphones Philippines was created through a partnership between Allphones Australia, TAO Corporation and Globe Telecom.

Allphones Australia began as a single store in Mile End, South Australia in 1989. It eventually expanded to 200 stores nationally and has become the largest independent telecommunications retailer in Australia

“OMG” moments at 'Science of Stupid' with Internet and TV sensation Ramon Bautista

“OMG” moments on the Internet! Here to explain why stunts go wrong and their videos go viral!

National Geographic Channel takes a funny look at the Internet’s most shocking viral videos in April 2014 when it premieres Science of Stupid, a show that explains why stunts go wrong when amateurs try to copy them. Each episode will examine stunt videos with disastrous endings and explain in scientific terms what factors caused the stunts to fail.

With the boom of Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, where people find it easy to post and share interesting information and content, it’s no wonder that some are foolhardy enough to try the crazy stunts that they see professionals do. Such attempts often have catastrophic results—which in turn are posted in the hopes of going viral! Science of Stupid makes sense of this nonsense by showing the necessary setup to make the stunt successful along with what the people in the video did wrong to make things go haywire. It uses visual diagrams to explain the scientific principles applied—or in these cases, not applied—during each attempt.

Each episode of Science of Stupid features a variety of stunts posted on the Internet, ranging from the dangerous to the silly. Thrill seekers collide with the invincible laws of physics as the show explains what happens when two women jump off the roof into a swimming pool, and how a potato canon can cause real damage to a man’s groin with a muzzle velocity of 300 kilometers per hour despite its innocuous name. Eating a spoonful of cinnamon may sound easy, along with other Internet myths that people might thoughtlessly want to try out for themselves, but Science of Stupid outlines the biological, physical and engineering mistakes behind each failed attempt.

Science of Stupid is a 14-part series hosted by Internet and TV sensation Ramon Bautista, whose likeable “everyman” humor will charm any viewer as he sets up each stunt and explains the science behind it. As the best example of one who has achieved Internet fame, he allows viewers to understand the skewed motivations of these wannabe daredevils while cracking jokes that will offset the intense pain and humiliation they’re about to witness on the screen. Bautista will be a witty, engaging guide through this wacky world of wipeouts, epic failure and painful realizations so viewers can learn the scientific principles that govern our physical world and see the humor in the unfortunate experiments these human “test dummies” so kindly staged for the rest of us.

Science of Stupid examines and explains the most cringe-worthy, “OMG” moments on the Internet so that we don’t have to figure them out for ourselves. As for the people who posted the videos of their failed stunts, getting the science wrong may have gotten them fame, but it also got them hurt!

WARNING: Please don’t try this at home! Now, you don’t have to because Science of Stupid explains it all for you.

Catch Science of Stupid in April, only on National Geographic Channel!
