Concert : Lifehouse Live in Manila

Catch another remarkable and heartfelt performance and fall in love once again with Lifehouse. The series of hits of this group captured the pulse of the Filipino’s love for love songs. Though Lifehouse songs are radio friendly rock songs, their kind of music centers on love, losing someone, faith, life and survival. It is not surprising that this American rock band was able to maintain a solid fan base in this country.

With their first hit single “Hanging by A Moment”, the band was catapulted into commercial recognition. Followed by “You and Me” from their self-titled album “Lifehouse.” and strings of hits followed through these years.

Songs in their earlier albums also talks about faith and believing, which also added to their allure as Christian music. Their lyrics it “Take Me Away”, “Everything” and “Breathing” may be interpreted as an ode to God but their words were not imposing, it’s sweet, sentimental and moving. Their strength lies in their ability to effectively speak of feelings, without sounding force. This songwriting style gave them the edge over other alternative rock bands.

Since then, Lifehouse has released 7 albums. The latest “Out of the Wasteland” (released May 2015) was what Jason Wade referred to as “returning to our roots.” Even music critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine described it as an “immaculately constructed record, easing between insistent midtempo anthems and power ballads...” and Christian Media Cross Rhythm’s Philip Laing describing it as “overall an impressive return to form by the mainstream stalwarts.” Stalwarts, what an apt description for a band that can deliver so much emotion and meaning in their music.

Whatever It Takes, Lifehouse is one of the most played artists in the history of Hot AC with over 1.4 billion Pandora Plays to date.

Lifehouse is composed of Jason Wade in rhythmn guitar and vocals, Ben Carey in lead guitar, Rich Woolstenhulme Jr on drums and Bryce Soderberg on bass guitar.

Generating rave reviews on Ticketmaster for all their live concerts, one can’t help but be excited once again, see the band in action. Lifehouse brought the house down before and now they are coming back to a bigger stage at Mall of Asia Arena on the 8th of October, 2015 as brought to you by CCA Live Productions and Midas.

Set aside those YouTube videos and grab your coats and concert tickets! No heavy rains and extreme heat can stop this now, Lifehouse is coming!

Celebrating the art and science of making coffee; Starbucks awards Coffee Ambassador 2015

This year, Starbucks Philippines once again honors its outstanding Coffee Masters through the Coffee Ambassador’s Cup 2015 on September 13 at the Colegio San Agustin Auditorium, DasmariƱas Village, Makati City.

On its 9th year, the competition will now include a latte art and beverage preparation competition, in addition to the previous years’ challenges such as coffee quizzes and tastings. The best coffee master will be honored with the title, Starbucks Coffee Ambassador. With a mix of artistry, knowledge and beverage creation, the competition is now anyone’s game.

“Since 1999, Starbucks Philippines has been conducting these competitions as a way to recognize our outstanding partners (employees) who show excellent knowledge and passion for coffee. This competition provides a chance for us to nurture and inspire our partners to develop their skills in the coffee industry,” Joel Cruzado, learning and development manager said.

As a part of the Starbucks Coffee International’s Coffee Master program, this competition aims to highlight partners’ knowledge and love for coffee. It originated when Starbucks Philippines held a friendly competition called Battle of the Beans among its partners in 1999.

A sip of coffee can make or break one’s day. Nowadays, coffee is not only a mere source of our caffeine needs; it is a ritual, an experience most of us yearn for every day. It is a beverage that does not only quench our thirst but also inspires, invigorates and relaxes our mind and body.

But for coffee to be all those, it must be handcrafted to perfection, a skill that only a few possess and develop. True Global Coffee Masters understand that knowledge and passion can go a long way in making coffee. As they learn more about coffee making, they realize that coffee is sacred, therefore they must do everything to make it perfect.

Brewing coffee is both an art and science, involving hard work – from growing and buying the highest quality beans to roasting them to the peak of its flavor and finally serving it to the customers in style. Through rigorous trainings, Starbucks Coffee Masters learn to marry the science and art of making different kinds of coffee.

They undergo intensive trainings to ensure that they serve you a superb cup of expertly roasted and richly brewed coffee every time. Aside from handcrafting each customer’s beverage, Coffee Masters share their coffee knowledge, passion and artistry with picture-worthy latte art.

“To prepare myself for this competition, I had to do a lot of coffee tastings – tasting black coffees and identifying its flavor profile and basically where it originated – almost every day. I studied anything and everything about coffee. And of course, I had to master the skill of finishing lattes with an art,” said 2013 Starbucks Coffee Ambassador Third Villaflor.

Her Favorite Coffee: Coffees from Africa
"Ever since I started as a partner I’m in to having my coffee on ice. Iced Espresso to be exact gradually day by day I noticed myself loving coffees from Africa as they usually undergone a lighter roast profile. I like African coffees because I can really taste their flavor more than the roast. They can maintain their vivid characteristics even over ice."

SureSeal: Your leak solution this rainy season

Living in the Philippines, which goes through months of monsoon every year, have taught us to be prepared when long days of rain is just around the corner. One of the measures we take is keeping our roofs free from debris like stones, dirt, and fallen leaves, among others to protect it from leaks. However, there are times that there are cracks and holes already. In situations like this, the smartest and most convenient solution is applying sealants to ensure that our most precious homes are safe from damages caused by leaks. However, can current sealants in the market do the job?

Consumers have different standards of quality when it comes to sealants. Since most people discover leaks only when it started leaking already, they have the idea that the quick drying variant is the most effective, but truth be told, it is not. The main reason for this is that sealant that easily dries up and hardens like cement has a high tendency to crack because of brittleness.

This is where SURESEAL’s IWAS CRACK Advantage comes in. SureSeal is an all Purpose Elastomeric Sealant, which has an “iwas crack” technology. SURESEAL is a slow-curing sealant that is designed perfectly for various substrates as an excellent sealing and bonding agent. In the cured state, it is transformed into a tough, rubber-like gasket which offers reasonable motion, contraction and expansion, of the connected elements without cracking or losing adhesion.

Unlike other brands and variants, you don’t have to worry that it will crack eventually. SureSeal takes pride of its “iwas crack” technology, which makes the brand cost-effective and long lasting.

Sureseal elastomeric sealant comes in gallon, liter, 500ml, 250ml, and 82.5g pouch. It is available in all leading hardware and DIY stores nationwide.

The first-ever and only all-native Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) in the country,  Goodah!!! is the one coined the term Tapsi to refer to an order of tapa and sinangag. The addition of a fried egg to a rice meal resulted in the staple that is now commonly known as tapsilog.

Here's the latest news, the "King of Talk" in local show business, Boy Abunda is now a member of GoodAh!!! family.

Goodah!!! is welcoming the Philippine television host, publicist, talent manager, celebrity endorser and well known Boy Abunda into Goodah!!!, where he was a regular customer since was just starting his career in the 1980s. He shared that this 25-hour quick-service restaurant that served rice meals and congee has been his favorite restaurant.

Boy’s favorite at GoodAh!!! has always been its bistek, the favorite Pinoy dish of stir-fried tender beef marinated in soy sauce and citrus.

Last Wednesday, September 16, 2015, Boy share his secret food recipe to media guests held in Goodah!!! at Metrowalk, Ortigas, Pasig City.  He knows his way around the kitchen, has his own recipe for bistek that he is sharing with GoodAh!!!. In fact, the restaurant has adopted Boy’s version of bistek for its restaurants and is renaming it as GoodAh!!! Boy’s Bistek in his honor.

GoodAh!!! was a concept ahead of its time in the local dining industry when it opened 33 years ago. In fact, its tagline “Open 25 hours” is an assurance that people from all walks of life, from office workers to jeepney drivers, had a place to go to no matter the time of day or night for their fix of lugaw and goto, and popular breakfast fare, namely tapa, tocino and longanisa.

Through the years, its menu expanded to include a variety of Filipino favorites that are now staples in eateries and restaurants throughout the country. Aside from tapsilog, there is tosilog, longsilog, adsilog (adobo, sinangag at itlog), and bangsilog (daing na bangus, sinangag at itlog).

That’s why when Boy was invited to become a business partner of Goodah!!!, he did not hesitate in accepting the offer. In a way, it was his life coming full circle: from regular customer to business partner at the restaurant he loved.

Goodah!!! is now being reintroduced to a new market of Pinoy diners who seek value-for- money meals.

After 33 years, GoodAh!!! is set to redefine the restaurant landscape with its patented brand of quick meals and personalized service with a casual dining ambience. It is a dining institution that today’s millennials will surely embrace with its delicious value-for-money meals, just as many Pinoy food lovers have in the past.

Tattoo recognizes greatness among connected individuals, communities in 2015 Tatt Awards

Globe Telecom mobile broadband brand Tattoo has kicked off this year’s Tatt Awards, the country’s premier award-giving body that recognizes social media movers and shakers in the Philippines. Currently on its fifth year, the Tatt Awards is honoring greatness in connectivity this year, celebrating individuals, groups, and communities who have made an impact in the online space with their brand of content.
“This 2015, the Tatt Awards not only celebrates those who have been great online, but the connectivity that made their greatness possible. The Tatt Awards is part of Globe Telecom’s commitment to enabling the Filipino digital lifestyle, as it institutionalizes greatness, creativity, and innovation in the digital space. Before any content can make its mark, it must be liked, reposted, shared, followed, and passed on. It is through these connections that good things can become great. It becomes greatness amplified and greatness shared, and this is what this year’s Tatt Awards is all about,” said Ray Guinoo, Director for Tattoo Mobile Broadband.
The public is invited to nominate positive acts, ideas, talents, projects, or movements that achieved greatness by choosing to connect. Unlike previous Tatt Awards, this year’s nominations are not divided into specific categories. Any person or group may be nominated so long as the nominee has been able to create an impact through quality content that made a mark to the greater majority. The nominee must have also used social media to connect with the rest of the world, thus amplifying and sharing the work done.

The nominations will be screened by the Tatt Council composed of key personalities from various fields, all of which have been chosen for their own brand of greatness. The members of the Tatt Council include environmental advocate Anna Oposa, social entrepreneur Bam Aquino, BasketballTV presenter Jinno Rufino, filmmaker Quark Henares, musician Jim Paredes, TV host and author Bianca Gonzalez-Intal, TV personality Daphne Osena-Paez, Emmy award-winning TV producer Mike Carandang, and technopreneur and Xurpas CEO and founder Nix Nolledo --- all of whom will face the daunting task of choosing the 2015 Tatt Awards winners from the public nominations.
