Dancer-actor Mccoy de Leon, Star Magic artist Anjo Damiles to perform at Vivo Mall Tour in SM Megamall, SM Bicutan on May 7

Mccoy de Leon, former Pinoy Big Brother Lucky 7 housemate and Hashtag dance group member, and Star Magic model-turned-actor Anjo Damiles will entertain selfie lovers as part http://www.idc.com/promo/smartphone-market-share/vendor;jsessionid=7595C1498F4F0FBF496CC767E273121B of top five premium global brand Vivo’s first mall tour, to be held on May 7, 5PM, at the SM Megamall and SM Bicutan.

Damiles, who rose to fame after his leading man debut in the soap “Doble Kara” with Julia Montes, will serenade Vivo fans at SM Bicutan in Parañaque, while De Leon will show off his slick dance moves at SM Megamall Event Center—both on May 7, Sunday.

De Leon, one of Vivo’s key opinion leaders, is thrilled about meeting Vivo fans, and sharing with Filipinos nationwide what the brand is all about. “Gusto ko syempreng makilala at mapasaya ang mga Vivo consumers, and this mall tour is a way of bringing them happiness. Masaya rin ako na ibahagi pa sa mas maraming tao kung ano ang Vivo, at kung gaano kaganda ang smartphones ng brand.”

A V5 Plus user, Mccoy de Leon has been posting—on social media—his perfect selfies and other images taken with his Vivo phone.

According to Vivo Philippines, the Megamall mall tour, the first of a series that will run for four months, is aimed at entertaining smartphone users and introducing the brand to prospective customers. The series of events naturally follow Vivo’s successful launches of its perfect selfie phones—the V5, V5 Plus and V5 Lite—which expectedly captured the hearts of legions of selfie lovers.

Launched early this year, the V5 Plus, Vivo’s flagship phone, wields the world’s first 20-megapixel dual front camera.

Featuring advanced selfie technology, the V5 Plus offers unique selfie features: the bokeh effect, a tool that creatively blurs the background of a selfie, keeping the subject in focus; the face beauty mode 6.0, a ‘skincare’ tool that corrects blemishes and enhances the subject’s skin tone; and the selfie softlight, an enhanced front camera flash that enables users to take selfies even in poor lighting conditions.

After the initial foray into SM Megamall and SM Bicutan, Vivo will also visit the following malls this May: SM Taytay, SM Sta. Mesa, SM Masinag and Eastwood City.

How DLM Began

With almost 10 years of experience in the luxury bag business, Duchess of Luxury Manila Proprietress Roe Quiambao-Dillera knows first-hand the care and attention needed to maintain these luxury bags.

“Bags are a passion of mine. I started owning and collecting limited edition preloved and brand new premium branded bags even before I set up Duchess of Luxury Manila in 2008.”

In the late ‘90s, owning a Louis Vuitton or a Chanel became an obsession similar to collecting luxury watches, paintings or expensive cars. Ownership of these luxury designer bags was viewed as a badge of high quality and affluence. With no local outlets or store-owned boutiques then for premium bags, people can only buy these brands when traveling abroad.

Roe turned this passion for bags into a lucrative business. She started sourcing genuine branded bags directly from suppliers abroad, with a stringent set of requirements including that even the pre-loved or pre-owned bags should be delivered in their original boxes, dust bags and authenticity cards. “In the past years, my regular clientele has grown and has rewarded me with their trust, because these are not just bags, they are investments. Much like jewelry, a lot of the customers I cater to maintain their bags in top condition to get a fair re-sale value, should they decide to part with their “babies.”

“In my previous corporate job as Department Head of Marketing Communications and PR, I travel to our Head Office in Japan and Regional office in Singapore two to three (2-3) times a year. Back then, it started out as a favor for my close friends who asked me to buy them Chanels or LVs in Japan. Japan was known for selling only authentic Excellent Used Condition designer bags. I would go to Komehiyo and Ginza area to scout for these finds.

And the quality of these preloved bags are really very good. There was even a time the LV bag I bought even had the blue plastic film in its zippered hardware! Connoting that the bag’s condition is brand new but categorized as pre-owned by the Japanese”

Seeing this demand, she confirmed that there was a market for these pre-loved items.

From just her circle of friends, her clientele grew with referrals from friends and acquaintances. To better manage the increasing demand, she decided to put up an online store on Facebook.

In 2015, Roe expanded what Duchess of Luxury Manila has to offer, in the form of top-notch services for the bags she sells to clients.

“My clients would often ask me if I can recommend anyone who can repair a scuffed handle or to remove ballpen marks on their Chanel or LVs.”

In her travels to what are considered as bag capitals of the world such as Florence, Italy and Paris, France, she makes it a point expand her orientation and relevant supplier contacts to make sure that the level of services will be as premium as the bags themselves. “It is really a practical jump from just selling to covering these services for customers. To ensure that a luxury bag can be handed down and enjoyed by the next generation, but, yet still maintain a good market value for reselling, if the need arises, thus expert maintenance is a must. That is why, our team of craftsmen or Artisans offer services that are at par with the best of what the global bag capitals have to offer.”

“The leather material is delicate and will be subjected to daily wear and tear, humidity and environmental pollutants. Overtime, the quality of leather and the bag itself can deteriorate if not properly cared for. This is not a welcome prospect for the owners who spend a big investment in acquiring these bags. Sending the bags to an ordinary local leather repair shop is not suitable as the “tanning” of the leather is very unique to each brand,” explains Roe.

“My vision for DLM Showroom is not just to sell luxury designer bags but to be a venue for servicing these luxury leather items as well as having a community of bag lovers like me, where I can share what I have learned from handling these designer items, including sharing tips on the different kinds of leather--- from Calfskin, Goatskin and Lambskin, distressed versus smooth--- how to properly care for each type of material and even how to spot a non-authentic bag from the real one. A complete luxury bag experience.”

“Owning a luxury designer bag nowadays has developed from just being a status symbol while enjoying the beauty of a finely-crafted leather bag. Based on my personal experience, these are also good investments if you know the right circle of people. Instead of just disposing an old bag when you get tired of it, or you fancy an “upgrade”, you might get back a sizeable amount of money if you resell it, as long as it is in excellent condition,” concludes DLM Proprietress Roe Quiambao-Dillera.

Duchess of Luxury Manila in Ayala Alabang is open from Mondays to Saturdays, from 10 AM to 7 PM.

Filipinos can now travel to Taiwan visa-free starting June !

Through the implementation of visa relaxing measures launched by the ROC (Taiwan) to the Philippine nationals, it is expected that it will greatly enhance the convenience of traveling between Taiwan and Philippines, and further promote bilateral economic, cultural and other exchanges between the two countries.

The ROC announcement lists a Visa Exemption trial program for Philippine nationals, for a period of one year.

“The adjustments are being made following consultations with other ministries as part of an effort to implement the new policy. They are intended to attract nationals from Southeast and South Asian countries to Taiwan for tourism or business purposes, as well as to broaden and deepen Taiwan’s interactions, exchanges, and cooperation with these nations at all levels,” according to the ROC release.

“The new regulations were decided at an interministerial meeting held by MOFA that was attended by the competent authorities in the areas of national security, police affairs, investigation, immigration, tourism, and economy and trade,” ROC MOFA added.

Taiwan was earlier reported to already welcome Filipinos holding Philippine passports who want to visit Taiwan for 30 days.

Online registration is required at https://nas.immigration.gov.tw/nase/ prior to arrival.

The ROC government began simplifying visa regulations for countries covered by its New Southbound Policy, including India and the 10 ASEAN member nations, on August 1, 2016, to attract more travelers to Taiwan for short-term tourism, business, visits to relatives, and cultural exchanges. Measures have included a trial visa exemption program for Thailand and Brunei, inclusion of more countries in and easing of eligibility criteria for the Online Application for ROC (Taiwan) Travel Authorization Certificate system and the distinguished tourist group program, issuance of multiple entry visas of at least two years for nationals of ASEAN members, inclusion of the Philippines in the eVisa program.

Philippine passport holders who intend to visit Taiwan for the purpose of tourism, business, visiting relatives, attending international conference and participating in sport events can apply for the e-visa.

Taiwan is listed on the Visa Restrictions Index 2017 issued by Henley and Partners as one of the 61 countries allowing Philippine passport holders visa-free access.
