Digido Finance Corp. joins forces with various sectors for coastal cleanup drive in Bataan

Digido Finance Corp., operator of multi-awarded fintech platforms Digido and UnaCash, joined forces with various sectors to conduct a coastal cleanup drive in Barangay Camachile, Orion, Bataan.

---------------------------------------------------------------
The activity also served as the kickstart for “Lend A Hand”, the company’s revamped corporate social responsibility advocacy.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Organized last February 28, 2025, the event drew over 70 volunteers from diverse groups, including company staff, local residents, municipal workers, fishermen belonging to Samahang Magdaragat of Camachile (SAMACA), and personnel from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and the Philippine National Police.

A total of 136 sacks of waste and debris were collected within the area. Prior to the activity, a MENRO representative discussed the importance of cultivating a culture of protecting the country’s water systems.

The cleanup drive is the company’s second initiative in the barangay, just less than a year after working with the local community to plant over 1,100 mangrove trees in aid of coastal resilience and biodiversity restoration.

The activity also served as the kickstart for “Lend A Hand”, the company’s revamped corporate social responsibility advocacy informed by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and its own set of core values.

Commenting on the coastal cleanup initiative and the Lend A Hand advocacy, Digido business development manager Rose Arreco said: “Genuinely lending a hand is not a one-and-done situation. As a company, we believe that intentional focus on communities is more favorable in order to achieve significant and long-term impact. Building on our past initiatives, we saw the activity as an opportunity to highlight the importance of environmental stewardship and creation care. We implore communities to remain proactive in finding ways to protect our marine ecosystems.”

According to data from various organizations in past years, the Philippines remains the third-largest contributor to marine plastics, citing its reliance on single-use plastics and challenges in waste management.

PAL Pledges Php10 Million to Empower the Next Generation of Filipina Pilots

Philippine Airlines (PAL) seeks to address the gender gap in aviation through its Fly With Her program, which helps women pursue their dream of flying for the nation’s flag carrier. It recently pledged P10 million to the PAL Foundation, which oversees the scholarship program for women pilots.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we reiterate our support to women who dream of flying for and even assuming top positions in the PAL organization,” said Alvin M. Miranda, PAL Vice President for Marketing.

Apart from the P10 million pledge, PAL will release a film inspired by a real-life story of a young girl who dreamed of becoming a pilot.

“When little girls see women take on leadership roles, it inspires them to do the same and possibly go beyond,” said Lilybeth T. Ng, PAL Assistant Vice President for Pilot Affairs.

The gender gap in aviation remains significant, with only around 6% of pilots worldwide being women.

An Ally of Women in Aviation

PAL has long been a staunch supporter of women in the airline industry. In 1989, its very own Captain Aimee Carandang-Gloria became Southeast Asia’s first woman commercial airline pilot to fly a commercial flight. She broke barriers again in 1993, by becoming the region’s first woman airline captain. PAL continues to lead the way in opening doors for women in the male-dominated industry.

PAL continues to work for clearer and more inclusive skies in aviation, on the strength of its signature service of #CareThatComesFromTheHeart.

Following the National Women’s Month theme of “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas,” Madiskarte Moms PH’s Connected Moms Lead campaign speaks to the importance of equipping moms with the right tools, skills, and digital connectivity to navigate modern life. It emphasizes that being connected isn't just about building a social media presence but also having the access to resources and opportunities that meet the demands in every aspect of their lives.

MMPH is empowering moms not just to balance their lives, but also to lead with purpose. At the heart of this, PLDT Home continuously enables moms to connect, thrive, and lead. With its most reliable connectivity, moms are empowered to balance their lives, pursue their own passions, and ultimately, achieve their dreams, making it possible for moms to build their own success stories.

Unlocking new digital skills

Recognizing the challenges of the rapidly evolving tech landscape, particularly the rise of artificial intelligence, MMPH partnered with Google Philippines to host the successful ‘Ayan na! AI na!’ Gemini Academy for mompreneurs.

Gemini Academy provided actionable strategies to leverage AI for tasks like content creation, social media management, and customer service, freeing up valuable hours for both business and family. Moreover, by learning how to use AI to streamline administrative tasks and even support their children’s education, mompreneurs gained the ability to create a more balanced and efficient lifestyle.

The workshop empowered participants with the knowledge to safely and responsibly utilize Gemini and other AI tools, fostering business growth and improved family life. Attendees learned practical applications of AI to streamline processes, generate innovative product ideas, and integrate these tools into family routines, such as assisting with children's schoolwork.

Recognizing notable mompreneurs

The stories of inspiring mompreneurs are about to be celebrated once again. Gawad Madiskarte returns, recognizing those who have built successful home-based online businesses while balancing family life. This year, MMPH is expanding its focus to honor mompreneurs who are leading the way in sustainable business practices, and creating a positive impact on their communities and the environment. The nomination announcement is coming soon, marking the start of a celebration of their remarkable contributions.

Connecting with fellow moms and the community

From March 19 to 21, MMPH will host the Madiskarte Moms Bazaar, where mompreneurs can sell their products, ranging from homemade food to handmade crafts. This is their chance to bring their wares outside of e-commerce, allowing more people to try them out and treat themselves with unique items.

Madiskarte Moms Bazaar is also a great opportunity for mompreneurs to connect with fellow mompreneurs from the community. It gives them a chance to learn and inspire each other with their own experiences.
